    I can understand nerfing some of the combo routes with Chun, but nerfing her neutral game on top of that seemed like overkill when she was already fair as a character in S1.

    Ed also is one of the characters that suffers from the improvement to Drive Reversal. He and other characters without a 6f medium get significantly less reward by blocking these now.

    I really hope they don't nerf Ed's desync combos.
    I can't do them yet, and I really don't wanna spend all the time to get them consistent just to have Capcom gut them.
    And I'm of the opinion that the more difficult something is the more rewarding it should be.

      It's not that tough to get consistent, and making your level 2 into a consistent full screen carry that gains you overdrive and effectively costs 1.2 to 1.3 super bars is really important to making the character competitive.

    Ed is a big loser in this patch because the "universal" changes affect him negatively. They introduced wakeup drive reversal so ALL characters have a semi safe wakeup reversal, that's -6. Ed has no 6f medium AND they put 20% scaling on lights. His punish for blocking a wakeup drive reversal is barely more than a throws worth of damage for using 3 bars of drive rush and that's IF the light reaches. He was considered mid-tier before the patch, got nothing, so can only have gone down.

      Yeah I really dont understand why they made drive reversal -6 instead of -8 on top of making it a wakeup option. All making it -8 did was hurt punishes for characters like Marisa and Ed. It's a really bizarre change IMO.

      I'm not an Ed player, but I could have sworn the general consensus was that Ed's biggest issue was that his jab (kick version I think) sucked, and that he'd be so much better if they buffed that. Well they did didn't they? So why do people think he's worse?

    Ed had the silliest reveal in the patch teaser video, he basically showed that he doesn't get punished for taking his turn with one button then does a nerfed backthrow into the corner
    But at the same time I think Ed is actually in a good spot. There's someone on twitter who compiles matchup charts based on top 5000 players in ranked and their chart from this week shows Ed has the 2nd highest average winrate only behind ken. He does have a few bad matchups like sim but overall he seems to be performing he just isn't winning at the tournament level currently.

      Brian_f just won a pretty big tournament with Ed. He has almost 0 representation on the biggest stage though.

      I do not want them to change his reversal, it is intended to be like that as a balancing factor, it was the same way in V. In exchange the punishes you get on it aren't as potent and it has more forward movement than several other invincible reversals.

    The jab scaling nerf and the drive reversal nerf are pretty whack. Mostly top tiers were abusing strong jabs, and that incidentally nerfs other characters with weaker jabs like Ed, Lily, Manon etc. Also, making Drive Reversal -6 means that if you don't have a 6 frame button you are resorting to a jab combo that gets scaled down. Shotos get the privilege of being jack of all trades and masters of everything again.

      The damage scaling was nerfed on all lights from drive rush. Lower tier characters weren’t abusing this unlike deejay, Ken, chun. Combo damage does not get omega scaled off lights to punish reversal because it’s a punish counter. So the scaling doesn’t matter. Also zangief has the best drive reversal punish in the game. So shotos aren’t winning everything.

      @@Pudge6929 The scaling for jabs went from 10% to 20% across the board. Akuma is insane and all the shotos are still very strong going into season 2. Shotos are killing it right now.

      @@brianaragon1992 shotos are strong this season but in all fairness I can think of 4/5 character that aren’t shotos who are also super strong rn. Shotos in sf have generally always been pretty strong.

    Honda getting buff off of target combos while being plus in your face? A new really good low crush? The changes to parry making strike/throw characters way better? Honda still chews drive gauge with headbutts and if you whiff a parry and get command grabbed you take like 30%

    imo, the biggest Dee Jay's L is the heavy back kick reaction change, that literally killed one of his most hard and fun combos to do when juggling with the knee

    I'm not saying they did right by Ed this patch, but I don't think every character necessarily needs to get changes every patch. If a character is already fun, then what does it matter whether they receive changes or not?

    Well, Ed is still just Ed because he was just released a few months ago. I feel that Ed shoiuld remain the way he is because it is very rewarding to win with a character that gets no handouts. He works or his wins and earns each one. That makes him fun to use, and also his high level execution makes him the most complex cgharacter in the game. So different from the crap he was in SFV.

      Ed is considered by Japan to be high tier. Nemo thinks he is top 3. He is far far better than characters like Manon. Ed also has the 2nd highest winrate above 1700MR, below only Ken.

      ​@@Aggrofool Can't speak for Japan's opinion, but high win rate doesn't always equal good.
      Ed had one of the lowest play rates, this means poor MU knowledge compared to other characters, but more importantly this means that it's harder to get a good sample size, if a pool of a 1000 people exist, and we take 500 people from it, we probably get some top 500 players and some bottom 500 players. If we only take 50 players from the pool it will probably be average a higher or lower win rate. I mean, look at Guile, feels like he's on the opposite side of the coin.
      My point is that it's too early to start bringing up win rates, reset is too recent people still need to figure the patch out, I'd wait for the 1800 mr list.

      @@Aggrofool In Master, the game uses an Elo-style rating system and skill-based matchmaking. You can't really read anything into win rates.

      Ed is considered by Japan to be high tier. Nemo thinks he is top 3. A few pros switched to him including Momochi, tier-ho Tachikawa and ChrisCCH with great success.

    Yoooo, tearz. While I did play 99 a lot on release (own a cdz), it was a not so great kof after the terrific 98.
    Iori and Kyo themes slap though. So did the backgrounds, art, stages, and music in general.
    The most aesthetically pleasing kofs play the worst for some reason (96, 99).

      But the art in 13 is atrocious. Not talking about character select or the sprites. The dialog art and endings art is hideous. So out of place compared to the rest of the game.
      They should have used to artist that did the ex games and 2k2 um character art. Or the standard 13 artist from character select screen.

      I was laughing at everything Kizzie was complaining about that got nerfed, and im like THAT WAS EXACTLY THE POINT lmao. Mans was sad about brain dead low risk high reward options getting TONED DOWN to add more risk. Be mad if they took away the sway that he never had before. Deejay plays with risk and reward now. 🧠

    For my main Sim, they fixed drive reversal from 1 to 2 hits. The improved lvl 3 range. And of course the heavy round house combo. But honestly they didn't do my man no justice. I am currently Diamond 3, and I want to improve till I hit master. But I'll probably end up trying Blanka sooner than later.

      Small clarification, they didn't increase the lvl 3 range, they made it cancel faster from yoga flame specifically, it's still posible to whiff yoga flame into lvl 3 and the drive riversal's first hit now knocks down so you can't get comboed if it tardes with a fire ball

    Drive System is basically this game's nervous system because Drive Reversal will probably keep Bison from being broken (unsafe specials with Psycho Mines).
    I think they will eventually resort to doing individual character tweaks but not anytime soon. They can't really keep this game balanced with how drastically different characters can play around Drive Meter.

    I still see Ed coming in second and causing havoc in tournaments… not jp havoc but he’s still hard to deal with if your dealing with a good Ed

    Deejay is still really strong and fine despite what some might think. It sucks his damage got toned down (100% predicted this nerf was coming), a route or 2 is gone, and is easier to punish him, he still has:
    Heavy Maximum Oki from anywhere on screen
    Good damage (more fair this time)
    Good neutral buttons
    New routes are actually nice
    SA1 being actually useful is a nice buff. Does it comensate all his nerfs? No, but is it a cool, nice buff to try to compensate for some nerfs? YES

      I understand toning down deejays damage ( I think the 20% scaling on heavy punch was a bit harsh but oh well) but taking away combo routes was a bit much imo

      @@KingJinzo2125 tbf about the combo route, it only used one move and it was mainly just to maximize damage output, and I didn't use it a lot. Losing it sucks, but it's not the end of the world. Every other combo he had, he still has. Plus you got new combo routes so it's not a huge loss imo

    Akumas having 900 HP isn’t going to cut it in SF6 imo, just like in SFV they had to give him a 25 HP buff half through season 2 when he was released (2.5 patch). Getting a bit tired of seeing “Well Akuma has always had low health in SF”, when that’s not what people are implying when his health is too much of a disadvantage in SF6. No one’s saying he needs to have 1000 hp or that he never had low health, hp has been adjusted to better balance characters into the system mechanics of each SF game. It’s not like HP has stayed the same across every SF game.

    Rather than nerf everyone's damage, they could just buff everyone's HP by a flat percentage, serve the same purpose, but feels rewarding rather than punishing.

    Akuma was nerfed before release. Gave his ass low health, and I could’ve sworn akumas teleport was supposed to be projectile proof.

    Another issue Chun Li has this patch is the fact it’s harder to drive rush after crouch medium kick. I swear I am dropping DR soo much after season 2 it’s insane. I feel she was fair in season 1 but season 2 they made her harder to play for sure.

      @@84jordie that or she just does nothing. It’s just way harder to drive rush combo with her this season. Like everyone else is doing these badass combos with other characters meanwhile Chun Li just pokes you repeatedly until you die because she can’t even drive rush anymore

    Why do I feel like these guys are smoking crack or something? Chun is still very good. Some of the “top level” players need to come back to earth because whatever they’re smoking has them high as a kite.

    I bet you this Honda take ages poorly. He is a better character now. He has everything he needs to compete now. Is he a top tier now? No. But he is definitely out of the basement. We're going to see Hondas perform better in tournaments. Count on it.

    I think Cammy belongs on this list more than Chun or Ed. She got very little and lost a lot. Jabs are an important part of her kit and those got nerfed. She lost her niche as the anti-zoner rush down character with the spin knuckle nerf. She basically does does nothing great now and feels irrelevant compared to the other rushdown characters.

      She has arguably the best corner carry now of all the rushdowns thanks to the target combo change. I'm still maining her and the spin knucke nerf isn't that bad if you do it as a read rather than a reaction. A lot of shotos still struggle to fight her, and even Akuma feels less threatening when I'm playing Cammy. I'm not feeling the nerf to jabs as much because I use cr.mp to whiff punish people. Jabs should just be your way to go into spiral arrow for knockdown and oki, they're not really your main source of damage.

      She is still fine but she is kinda just an okay rushdown characters now. She lost her niche and all the rushdown charcaters basically do what she does but better. She is similar to season 1 Ryu he was fine but almost pointless compared to the others in his class.

      @@lawnbb12372 She has more anti-airs than Rashid and Kimberly and better corner carry. She has better whiff-punish and poke buttons than all the other rushdowns and her level 3 super is still the best in the game since it can punish nearly anything from fullscreen. She has 3 different anti-air DPs that can anti-air from further away than most characters + spiral arrow is one of the best specials in the game with good corner carry and is safe on block if you space it right. She has the fastest divekick in the game and spin knuckle still works against zoners when done right.
      She did get nerfed but she is still the best rushdown, as you can see from the character usage stats in MR and higher.

    RIP Dee Jay, the upkicks change really is a heartbreaker. I do not want to hold those spaced -6 moves like Juri store or Jamie rekka, but now I have to? Fuck that shit, we Bipson mains in a week or two.

      I wouldn't say garbage, but he is absolutely middle/top-middle of the pack at best. They've nerfed pretty much every good part of his kit, which admittedly he deserved some solid nerfs after early S1, but i think they went a little overboard. Nerfed 5HP/2MP/2MK hurtboxes, 2HP invincibility removal made it so his anti air options are pretty shit, not only trading incredibly often but also having a weird blindspot where his 2HP doesnt reach, but his 6HK is too slow. Lv2 nerfs to the overall damage he gets, his accessibility to his old routes, as well as they changed the juggle points on it, so you no longer can do a double DI, or a DI into reset. Amnesia damage nerfs, portal damage nerfs, drive gauge pressure nerfs, nerfs to drive/SA gain during SA2, and yet mfs will STILL complain about him. It's actually wild.
      Edit: Oh and 5HK, 2HK, 4MK, OD spike, SA1, SA3 oki and other nerfs surrounding SA2...

    Idk all these ed players dont know what its like playing an actual low tier character lol. The character is a perma mashing, fireball throwing ,donkey which is why people play him

      @@Puntersnatch brother punk is a top 0.0001% player in the game and he plays cammy and akuma, it’s not just whiff punishing he also is able to start offense whenever he wants with those characters. Ed is nothing but whiff punishing, he can’t start offense, his defense is trash, has no plus frames, etc. yes punk does whiff punish a lot but not only does he play characters that get to do more than that he’s also not an average player

      ​@@Puntersnatch Realistically 2% or less of players will experience anything Punk or pros actually go through or get to do in game. 98% of people will be experiencing a meta that's different because the mindset of players won't usually allow one to just imitate world tournament level play. So what Squidward was saying
