- We are ONE month out from the first ever major patch in Street Fighter 6. Many of us have made initial impressions tier lists, based off of vibes and perceived strength. But after a full month of labbing, tournaments, and Twitter arguments, Nephew and Kizzie Kay sit down to finally put together the definitive tier list of this new season!

The fact that I can recognize the character portraits _even when they’re blurred out_ is either a testament to the strength of SF6’s art direction, or a sign that I probably need to get my glasses prescription re-checked.
The best thing they've done is color coding the characters, colors play such a huge role to how people perceive characters, like black, gray and purple for akuma, aki and the psycho power gang, to show their evilness and convey how sinister they/their powers are, and red for the big mean mfs for their ferocious fighting style but also a warm color to signify they are the nicest people you'll meet

He is still really fricking good. its just he stay in the same place and ppl have perception problem. When other characters got buff to match the top tiers and close the tier gap they now perceive buffed character as top tiers equivalent and the old top tiers get some nerfed so ppl think now the original top tiers are lower which is not true at all.

Bison’s mobility for supposedly being a power type is insane. I may go back to maining him at some point, but even I can’t believe how good his movement is

I think a lot of these decisions aren’t really about how strong/weak they are but how many and who’s representing them to showcase that.

It's really pathetic. With Cammy you have so many interactions to turn things around. With Ken you guess wrong twice you die.
Top Ken players have been downplaying so hard. Refuse to even admit that he's decent. Crying everytime someone points out how insanely busted the character is.

It's because Ken doesn't have anything like Guile's slow fireball drive rush pressure and Dee Jay's sway. These are things that fundamentally breaks the game. It becomes a one player game when you have things like these that fundamentally break the game. Ken is very good, but he needs that game breaking, exploitative mechanic to be solidly considered a top, top tier character.
Ryu is in A y’all sick, didn’t even really give a good explanation for putting him and B either besides “there are so many other good characters in this game” lmao

I agree. Ryu is better than people are giving credit. I think it's just a low pick for top tier players (and mid tier kind of) because of style points. Ken is on top because he's not only good, but he's out of Ryu's shadow as a top tier in his own way. And Akuma is the SF fashion pick.

@@jaserror yeah he got good stuff this season. But he's still as straightforward as it gets and one of the most honest characters in the game if not the most honest. People think having a couple plus frames with denjin hashogeki and solar plexus means he's not honest. If that's confusing and oppressive to you I'm sorry but it's not because he's not honest, you're just mashing. He still revolves around fundamentals, footsies and capitalizing on the opponent's mistakes rather than shoving his own gameplan down everyone's throat whether you like it or not unlike some characters like Ken. I can see the argument to him being A tier since he's really solid at what he does. But he's nowhere near top tier.
All Ryu does is expose people that mash because he punishes very harshly. But you can never get anywhere mashing with Ryu compared to some characters. By mashing I don't just mean randomly pressing buttons even though some characters can even make that work. Some people keep pressing light punch even if they don't know if it's their turn or not. I think that was the entire idea behind light punch conversion damage nerfs. Taking your turn back with Ryu demands good fundamentals and ACTUALLY understanding when you can take your turn back rather than abusing oppressive bullshit.

I think it's more a consequence of her (for some reason) having no plus-on-block moves for the entirety of season 1, despite grapplers needing that to enforce a mix in the first place. It's a "big deal" that she now has a plus move, but she should have always had it to begin with. The damage buff to her level 3 makes her strike game more threatening to close out a match which is good, but she probably needed buffs in other areas like the anti-fireball properties of her spin.
I'm not gonna drop her until I hit Master at least. I still think she's a fun character despite it being a bit of a struggle. It's at least less of a struggle now and Capcom has already made it clear that we won't have to wait 9 months to a year for the next balance patch. They're clearly scared of overtuning her, but an easy fix for that is a broad-based damage nerf across the roster. With the general damage output being so high for the time being, she's a volatile character in a volatile game, which probably explains part of why she's not represented much at the pro level.
What they should do with Manon honestly is slightly increase range on some normals, increase dmg(2% for each medal for normals) for each medal she has but also remove 1 medal everytime she gets knocked down, if she has 3 or more medals then all her supers get atlease 7fr invincibility and if she gets 5 medals then all her special moves increase dmg by 10% aside from the command throw buffs. If she lands a drive impact she gets 1 medal
@@meatwadisgod for me, her drive rush is one of the biggest reasons why she is horrible. Characters like deejay and juri have insane distance and speed on their DR, manon has the slowest twirl on the planet and it goes absolutely nowhere distance wise.
I enjoy playing her, but i find myself not often using DR in neutral simply because it is so slow and doesn't go anywhere, it only catches people who are literally afk :/

I feel like Ed will rise a bit in tier lists as more and more top players swap to him. A lot of notable Dee Jay mains in Asia have moved to him for example. It really seems to come down to execution and practice getting the most out of his lvl2. I think Akuma will keep in in mid-low A though. He has a lot of mix up from the air and air is one of Ed's weakness's. But at the same time we have not seen any results from Ed and I have no idea why so many top players in Asia are picking him up.
AKI gets some buffs and immediatly people are up playing her ... gotta get ready for aki nerfs next balance patch.

Happened to JP season 1. There's definitely a strong portion of the community that hates when any non-standard character is top tier.

The big damage loss for Blanka was the reduction in the blanka-chan setups. I don't think the other damage cuts affected him so much, but the doll mix doesn't guarantee the match anymore.
Guile is a really good character but…. Idk about top 2.
Only one I gotta disagree with is ryu. My man destroys everyone in B tier and below and can hang with most of A too. His neutral with his damage output is too good

Ryu is better than half the characters in A yet people rate him as the 5th worst character. These pros are all better then me but the tier lists they make feel like such a toss up after the top 5.
I swear pros put him so low because none of them bothered playing because of how broken Akuma and Ken are right now. Because there ain't no way that heavily nerfed Luke somehow is better then Ryu who got an insane amount of buffs.
Idk if you pay with level, but unless you're playing high level tournaments and placing consistently tier lists aren't for you. If you do then they are for you.
@@gh0rochi363man this content is here for discussion and he’s totally right. Ryu is AT LEAST a top 10 character even though I’d say he’s top 5. He actually has an identity now and it’s to be a bully. He’s got the easiest plus frames, murders drive meter and does a ton of damage as well as having an above average fireball game.
Tier lists like this might not matter as much to anyone not placing in tourneys but they’re here for discussion. Pro players are indeed better players but a lot of us players that can hit master consistently can definitely have thoughts on the game that are pretty accurate

i play mostly ken and kimberly and i think the difference in damage output is just too big
Ed is way too low. All his level 2 combo variants are the main reason why he's way better than he should be and should be higher up on the list. There's so many pro Ed players in Japan for a reason because of all the Momochi tech that was learned. It also helps massively that you can actually perform these level 2 combos reliably in high stakes matches.
They hit the nail on the head with Ed. His anti air game and no reversal holds him back big time. However, he can still win hella matches

So I’m only intermediate at best in SF6, so maybe I’m wrong but I feel like Ed worst match ups are Aki and Akuma (even though if you catch him you can fuck him up pretty well).
Other than that, I think Ed be mid tier. Not great, but also not bad. A pretty solid pick that has answers for most things, but yeah better anti-airs be pretty nice to have

Nah you can’t put Marisa in A right now, honestly she got some buffs, but there is so many good character this season. Overall I still think she is more like a B tier. Good video btw 👌🏼
Juri 😈 is S Tier
Some characters are hard to deal with, but it's a good time to be a Juri main; she didn't get any meaningful nerfs, and the target combo super cancel actually does give her a slightly better route into Lv1 in some cases. Very happy with where she's at currently
@Pichoniix Juri is probably Level A. In fact, she's almost certainly Level A in this second season.
JP and Blanka were probably A tier, in my opinion, they are potential S tier but they are A tier. Very close to S tier for one thing or another.
Juri was probably among them, but only at tier A. For a while I had her at tier B, the strongest of tier B, but I suspected she was tier A and apparently she was Level

This is a very good list, might be the most accurate one yet for Season 2. Lines up with the trouble I get from all these characters haha. Akuma is borderline A/S though. Hard to say for sure like they said. That low health makes more of a difference than I thought. 2 bad interactions and you're pretty much dead.
Imma keep it back, I don't think AKI is as strong as people say she is. Her moves are still fake as fuck.
You guys are really overrating sim having reversal now. Does less damage with jab nerf and acouple other character buffs imo put them past him. I think hes bottom 5 now

I'd put Ryu infront of Akuma. Parry makes dealing with Akumas ambiguity/antics easier than dealing with Ryus neutral tools IMO.

If ryu did not get better than ken or luke or didnt supercede them by that much tournament players wont pick him up and go through muscle memory training. A character needs to be busted for someone to reinvest.

As a guile main respectfully he’s a good character but not top 3 off the top of my head , Ken , Luke , deejay Akuma, bison , Ryu and maybe even cammie and chun Li are all argueable as good or better then him i think out of those 8 he might be 6 or 5th outta all of them which isn’t bad as this actually is a pretty well balanced game although the back end kinda struggles and they didn’t do the new ones any justice imo and I didn't even mention blanka , JP or dhalsim

As much as id love to say my main Rashid is top 5, hes really not. Has a hard time against Ken, Marisa, Chun Li, Guile, Deejay and JP. His anti-airs need a buff and even with EX it can still trade if done too late.

BS list, first no...Akuma is NOT S tier, not sure if anyone is watching results, but Akuma is not still as strong as he should, he is good, but S TIER naaahhh.....also JURI A tier hahahah Nephew my boy the DOWNPLAY here is LEGENDARY, a character that won Capcom cup, not receive any significant nerfs, only buffs, and now is lower than her previous version? HOW??....Juri is still and S tier and I not take no BS lies of anyone saying the contrary and she is my secondary so I should downplay her. Also in what universe AKI is that buffed that surpass Luke, Chunli and Cammy, c'mon people and again....I should down play Cammy she is my MAIN but no, still she kicks Aki's royal butt and the results of the WWs this past week proven that.....she is nice now, definely A tier but not better than Luke, Chun or Cammy (hell I not think she is still better than JP or Deejay), B tier seen about right, except I think I'll move Ryu up to Kim, but that's about it. S Tier: Ken, Guile, Rashid, Juri, Blanka (in what universe Blanka is not S with still LV2 super doing the work).
A Tier: Luke, Chunli, Cammy, Akuma, Deejay, JP, Gief, Aki, Marisa.
B tier: Lilly, Dhalsim (just because I haven't seen enough and I have no idea where ge goes), Ryu, Kimberly, Ed and Jamie.
GARBAGE Tier: Honda and Manon seems about where they belong.
Bison so far feels fun and strong, not sure yet but for the little I have seem, he might ended now in A, but he could easily ended been lower, we will see.
What results for Gouki ? The dude has been out for a month an made it too DH summer's top 3 and was the #1 or #2 most represented character in top 64 and 32, name a character who achieved that ?

This is my top 5 too except swap Luke for Aki. Aki has absurd damage, bubble mix, tick coward crouch grab, her dive is fireball invincible. I don't think people have accepted her fully but she's better than Luke now.

Full disclosure I put more weight on actual tournament results over theoretical or perceived tier.

This ken complaining has to stop. He hasn't been S since his corner game has been nerfed. His throw loop didn't just get removed his corner game is now very predictable depending on his movement.

Also, the first tier list that got Chun right. Dudes have been up-playing Chun the whole life of the game so far. Her throw range might be the stubbiest in the game. I'd say she's actually the "honest" character. Not Ryu's ass.

I'm a bit surprised that cammy didn't make top 5 and instead Rashid did. Been maining her since day one cuz she felt like a stong high tier but not good enough to carry scrubs to masters. I really didn't rely on spin knuckle, so do other good Cammys, so the nerfs were subpar and she now has meterless conversions all while every other top tier except ken getting nerfed made me think she'd be a solid top 5 character now.
Look at the top 4 they all have fireballs. Having a fireball to combine with drive rush is just too big for being the best
Manon is highkey super downplayed easily a top 5 character and I don't know how anyone else sees it

Absolutely spot on list! It's almost the same as mind except I have Kimberly below Ryu.
Focusing on Ryu, one of his biggest issues are his lack of hard-to-read optional offenses. He may hit hard with cool mix-up combos, but it doesn’t mean too much as he struggles to hit his opponent in close-up move exchange situations. Due to Ryu's slow active frames, he struggles at extreme close-up exchanges which occurs 40% of the time in the game. All the characters that are above him in the tier list do not have those issues, especially Marisa, Cammy, Juri, Akuma, DeeJay, Rashid, Aki, Rashid, and Chun Li.
Other issues with Ryu are his lack of tools to make it easier for him to get out and/or flip any dangerous situations to his advantage. Even something as simple as Jumping, nearly everyone above Ryu in the tier has faster jumping launch speed that allows them to avoid getting 2MK or even standing HP, and his slower DI speed really doesn’t help (and doesn’t make sense to have his DI slower than Ken either). It's tough to be great with Ryu because he cannot rely on specials like Akuma, Ken, and Cammy. He needs to be the best in fundamentals despite having slower Normals which makes things so much harder for him.
I know awesome MC MuraFGC recently did a Ryu video communicating why he believes Ryu is strong. That video has some great points but I’d argue that "general" real-world results communicate differently. This is especially so when you compare the successes of all the higher tier characters to Ryu across the board of players; their success stats are far and above. I know people mentioned Mago saying that he believes Ryu is strong. That's all well and nice, but action speaks louder than words for hardly any pro gamers are picking Ryu even after trying him out.
I am an advocate for sensibilities, so I'd rather everyone who is above Ryu in tier to be nerfed to B tier, especially since many of the things the higher tier characters can do are arguably unfair (e.g., Rashid lvl2, Guile's sonic blade to super slow 2 hits sonic boom that allows Guile to follow after and retains their numerous arsenals of offenses and counter tools, etc). But since that won't happen, I believe everyone in B tier and below needs to be sensibly buffed with new tools in an effort to bring the entire roster more to balance in aid for fairer competition.
Ken is respectfully not top 5. Yes I may main the character, no I'm not downplaying
4:00 it's very hard to take this tier list seriously because of this. Rashid was ok, but since he won a tournament very recently he's top 3 all of a sudden? The only notable thing that changed with him was that Big Bird dropped Marissa for him and his level 2 got slightly nerfed. No shade to nephew or anything but I call bs
I think Rashid is up there, they were just sleeping on him and Gachikun for some reasons.
But by his "Japan just play top tiers" logic ED should be higher since they're all playing him
There's two Ryu's in first place of world warriors in two different regions, and Angry and Big both said he's top 5. He ain't no B tier.

Tbh in sf6 i dont think theres a real tier list. Especially when when Juri as a character dominated the capcom cup and Juri as a character received buffs. Not sure how Guile keeps being placed so high when he BARLEY wins tournaments if he wins at that. Ryu being so low is sad because im 100% sure Ryu has 100x more chances winning than Zangief yet he's placed in C tier. I honestly think sf6 season two is really balanced and its no longer character but skill and knowledge that will take you to the distance.
The more top players play a character the more he'd win tournaments, Guile is just an archetype that not everyone likes, when Dhalsim is top tier he doesn't win that much tournaments either
