Ed is the first character in sf6 that really fits me. i Love psycho power, i love the spiderman combos, MIST FINER, and his supers are some of the best.

His susceptibility to DI was something I noticed the first time i jumped on a cabinet with Juri. I landed every DI against those flicker moves, every time.
Yeah I was losing a lot of matches cause of DI but started baiting it and not using the moves that leave him open as much lead to my second longest winstreak haha

Hey diaphone, on that ex flicker you can do a lightfireball with the light followup, into instant drive rush heavy punch, then use a sway upper to end with lv 1 or 3 So it would be st. Hp>ex flicker>236 lp(with fireball after) instant drive rush H.p>L.k+Mk>forward punch. Depending on which follow up punch you get out of the sway determines on how lenient super timing is. Hope this helps It comes to around 2800 damage, but you can use all 3 supers afterwards(light level 2 for fireball oki as well lol)
7:56 Not spacing dependant. It's timing dependant. You have to DP early to hit at the highest point of their launch from snarcher in order to land the slower startup QCB HP (can't remember what the move is called).
he's super finicky. tons of different situational enders for different combos, a lot of room to optimize but very little reward. Luke can just do the same BnB off everything and do more dmg than whatever Ed does with his optimizations.
Just a heads up @diaphone you can cancel psycho knuckle with a forward dash almost up to the final point where the move is about to launch and bait DI since the DI will fall short u can hit ur DI right after ….. just FYI (the forward dash can also appear as if u launched which can further bait your opponent)
I feel like ed is lacking some offense, especially since he has no grounded overhead and his stand jab is pretty stubby. Overall though hes got a lot of tools. It feels like he excels in counterhit situations kinda like steve from tekken

He's a hitman style counter boxer who does have offense and defense. He uses flicker to bait and the only way to beat it is to counter with di or wait out the players Timing in its use. Though it becomes an intense mindgame when an Ed main knows what he's doing with it. Pretty much all I'm saying is it's brutal when used right %100 of the time even after ever player does know how to counter play him.
sf6 dlc characters have been a pleasant surprise so far. i wasn’t particularly interested in any of them when they were announced other than aki, but they’ve all turned out to be pretty compelling characters in their own right. i’m optimistic for the future seasons, especially if they happen to be in iterations of characters i’m actually interested in like alex. i just hope that they adjust the release schedule and maybe give us 5 characters instead of 4 so that there’s less downtime without new content though.
Theyre all really fun, but I wish theyd have made at least one of them have an orthodox kit rather then every single one having unconventional and highly situational anti airs, along with complicated gameplans and inputs
They built him to be top tier. He has multiple amazing drive cancelable normals (both the low medium and the stand medium kick--which is hard to punish), the pull is crazy, he can react to projectiles with his fireball and dash, and has a second rushdown option with the dash, solid anti-airs. I am pretty sure he will be top 10. Also, they need to create some cost for PP while improving other defensive options.
Ive been waiting on my boy ed since sf6 dropped. He was my main in sf5 i love that they kept his old kit and spiced it all up. The fact hes more technical added a nice touch too ill admit i wasnt a fan of how easy his inputs were in sf5 but i know he was basically beta modern controls
im having a hard time learning some of his combos. Usually i can come up with a lot of stuff on my own but now i had to look it up online. He's pretty awesome though
You can parry his pull and it works. Ed's be quitting out after that. His jab flicker anti air is annoying. I think people will adjust to the parry because they just mash but it's back to neutral if they dont.
@salttrader4113 yeah that's why you need set ups. It's not a 100% will win tactic, just use it every now and then to add offensive pressure. Im diamond 5 for reference.
The DI weakness is spot on - but I think it’s “fair” since he has a lot of other tools - otherwise he would be a bit overwhelming I think. So that doesn’t bother me. So far - the only thing I’m disappointed by is the the sway stance! There should be some benefit/use/mix/variarion. Right now it mostly seems like a visual change more than anything. Seems like a lost opportunity -and as a Steve Fox main in Tekken 8 - the contrast is quite noticeable. Overall I’m happy with Ed - but again - that stance feels like weak sauce. Everything else feels pretty good. But obviously time will tell how he gets absorbed into the meta.
@ 32:16 you forgot ed has a backdash so even tho you get those loops and people cand try to jump or di you can see it and backdash to punish it. I feel like most players arent utilizing his backdash right now.
I think the worst thing about Ed is the fact that he can't do cr. Lp into st. Mp, it's kinda weird. If you like hit them with one jab, your only option is to hit another jab and if that jab misses, then too bad you just lost a combo.
Only a couple of characters like Ken can do that on normal hit. But I agree that Ed's jab chain feels really stubby. Reminds me of AKI's 2LP before this patch.
@@bwnnn I guess I never really thought about how many characters can cancel their lights into medium without counter hit. I main Jamie and it's pretty easy to confirm his cr. Lp since you can just go into your target combo and then do whatever
His neutral is extremely good and the strike throw mix up is oppressive. After combos he can often kill rush in for great oki too. In terms of defense: His anti air is a little hard to space. Depending on the range the player needs ro adapt. And stuff like Luke's jumping HP is really hard to contest. And he has no regular 2LP. Hardest part is that he has hard combos for max damage. His kill rush is basically perfect knuckles all over again, but he loses a lot more for not using them. 2LK is the drive rush stop goat. Button is completely ridiculous for that, but leads not to anything really. Drive impact is often fake against Ed cause he can go for single pokes. And Ed wins oki so hard that despite only having like Ken damage (or even less), the opponent can not consistenly win with it. SA2 is the wild card. I think that super will decide if ED is going to be top tier or not, because it got potential.
Last 2 days... 108 rank matches played... fought 5 ken and 50 Ed... seriously worst time to play rank is the first week a new character is released. So sick of fighting Ed right now. Not like he is tough but you typically don't get close to 50% fighting all 3 of ken/luke/ jp.
Ive been trying to use Ed. His normals seem terrible and a lot of moves don’t seem to link on counter hit and the ones that do, don’t hit crouching opponents. He’s poop tier for sure. Feels like playing an bad charge character. Also, he has no overhead?

Noticed that too playing as ed but you can start mixing in the backdash cancel to bait DI. It's a fun dynamic
Some of those flicker normals are cancellable though.
@blackclover4375 medium flicker can be backdashed so he gets a free combo after the opponent whiffs.

You can cancel charged HP with command dash into DI, good option if your opponents begins to react with DI to your charged HP

Haha yea I dropped it there, but it’s also spacing dependent if you hit the flicker from farther out you have to do something different as well

I think he’s more of a counter outboxing style then offense
JP’s cr hp still works but you have to actually anticipate the jump. If you react late you trade or eat a combo which is way more fair

I really don't know how to go about learning a different character. I finally bought Aki, and I simply can not remember combos.
give yourself time and repeat combos in training until you get bored. then play some matches in training with NPCs or in casual matches.
It's all muscle memory dude. Go into training and grind it till you don't have to think.

Start mixing in the shimmy. The way Ed plays and they are worried about the other stuff a sneaky shimmy will catch even good players out for now.
