Skuxxed where have you been?!?
Nice vid

I love Ed, man. The way he smoothly and seamlessly weaves from his normals animations to his idle animations is a godsend
Luke: he just stande here meneciel but not to much
Ed is a bad copy of Iori Yagami.
@@aatroxtheworldender933at least Ed has authentic martial art animations. Iori is all edgy nonsense movements
@@camgoodkicks Look at Ed's goofy haircut and say that again.
His art design is lowky ass but his mechanics and play style is godly
His target combos are also legit boxing combinations btw
If Balrog is the Slugger, Dudley the Swarmer, then Ed is the out boxer
Exactly
Bro remembered his password 😃
Wait a minute I just realized this is the same dude with the character theories for Smash 4
You call this boxing? Shooting shadow balls and necromancy and dark tentacles? He's not a boxer.
@@peshomighty5051it's fucking street fighters what do you expect
@@peshomighty5051he’s a boxer, he just complements it with psycho power, that’s like saying Ryu or Goku aren’t martial artists due to hadoken and Ki blasts
@@volktol4432 that is different because a uppercut won't launch you into the air. You know kens signature move. There the green guy with random electric powers. All "normal" like you could do a helicopter kick just More Helicopter
. So yeah the new characters should have some flair but you should be able to do what they do. Loosely what they do. Like 20% of a hadoken
I always thought Balrog was more of the slugger boxing type rather than in-fighter.
In-fighters refer to those who fight better up close which would definitely describe Mike Tyson/Balrog but he does have some slugger attributes
@@SkuxxedBalrogs personality definitely described Mike Tyson's personality as well. Balrogs sadism matches with how Tyson loathed his enemies
@@user-wk7tp5lw4zfunny I always got the impression that Tyson respected his opponents
@@user-wk7tp5lw4z I thought that Mike always hated that part of himself
@@launcherx2044he does, he said in an interview how he's afraid that "that Mike Tyson" might break out again one day
1:15 it’s not UFC that’s the company it’s MMA that’s the sport and I think you really should have mentioned how Ed’s level 3 as well as his win pose reference a double end bag one of they most essential pieces of boxing equipment that teaches you rhythm, accuracy and distance all at the same time and is a really nice reference to boxers and boxing fans. But I can still recognize and appreciate all the effort that went into this video and highlighting all the boxing elements incorporated into Ed for SF6 any fan of the sweet science can see them and appreciate them.
The bag is even shown in the video, funny thing to miss but it was a fun watch
I really like Ed's weird zoner-setplay style, it helps differentiate him from the other 2 boxers
He’s a great fusion of zoning and rushdown
@@dforman4770 and grappler
@@windego64 at least I’m not the only one who thinks Psycho Flicker is a hit grab!
That Luke Parallel was lowkey making me wonder when he came out, I loved him in 5 and I’m grateful him and Luke are still doing good now. Luke and Ed were my favourite dudes from V
2:31 that pixel smear filter is PAIN
I know, I fuckin hate it everytime it pops up
I don't see it, where ?
@@elfascisto6549 if you click the timestamp in my comment you'll see a clip of Balrog doing a rush punch on a cornered Honda. The version of SF2 shown here is most likely a console port for either PS3 or Xbox 360, as I recall those ports having an option or two for pixel smearing filters. Pause the video and you can see how blurry and out of focus it makes the image, especially on Honda's face and the background of the bathhouse. Also note that this is immediately followed by a clip of Dudley, showing the impeccably beautiful spritework of the SF3 series.
This video single-handedly made me pick up the game again to give Ed another go and I had a blast! He's not a mindless rushdown character, he's patient and methodic. Actually won a few matches! Can't wait to lab it our and learn his ins and outs more thoroughly.
Love to hear it!
Hooray Ed boo- wait
what rushdown characters are mindless?
ik people love to talk shit about rushdown characters but i honestly think they all require a lot of skill and thought unlike grapplers who can just steamroll any form of defense and deal a shitton of damage
sure ken may look mindless but a lot of thoughts do actually go through a ken players mind at a higher level and as a ken main im obviously gonna be biased but i do actually use my moves wisely cause if i dont im gonna pay the price and id say the same for all rushdown characters in street fighter luke included
@@sharkyslegoandotherstuff the grapplers are litterly the worst in the game wym
Too bad everyone plays him and it’s getting annoying to fight against
I hope Capcom someday will add character based on UFC or ONE Championship fighter. UFC has very interesting personas like Robert Whittaker from Australia, Max Holloway from Hawaii (I know Hawaii are in US but Max is embracing his Hawaiiness), McGregor from Ireland, Jan Blachowicz from Poland, Francis Ngannou from Cameroon. All of this fighters are representing countries and cultures which never was shown in any SF. Maybe someday in SF8 😅
isn't Marisa an mma fighter tho?
@@devilgene_carrier Based on the stance, i'd say she is more of a muay thai fighter than mma, but would not be surprised if she is an mma based fighter instead.
@@devilgene_carrierShe's Pankration.
Pankration is sort of grandpa of MMA cause it had various techniques of wrestling, striking (boxing) and submissions emerged into one formula of fighting which later evolved into MMA when competetive fighting sport became popular so I think it would be legit to call Marisa MMA fighter but I think the modern pankration has more options than old pankration so I think it would still be pankration
Luke is said to be an MMA fighter but he doesn't fight like one at all, he fights without any finesse. He's very bland
I really love the wat animated the Flicker jabs with Ed, reminds me alot of Ryo Mashiba's flickers from Hajime No Ippo, whip sound and everything.
Exactly what I was thinking!!
while id say his burnt out animations definitely resembles peekabo, which makes sense because his mentor was balrog, the way he moves his whole body instead of slipping punches resembles what you do to adjust in high guard position. His hands also seem to be up to his forehead and above, i also notice his elbows rise up slightly. but i love the analysis you gave for his fighting style
I always had a soft spot for ed cus (correct me if im wrong) i think balrog's arcade ending in sf4 was him saving ed, and that was my first sf game. So i saw him as the natural next gen boxer or even a main character compared to dudley, seems like an unpopular opinion tho :/
Awesome video btw! Would love to see more!
Funny how he's VA is also named Ed lol
Really good video, love that type of content, being a fan of Street Fighter Characters, but not only for their gameplay, but also story, animation, inspiration etc... Those type of video make my day !
Much appreciated. Feel free to check out the other videos I made on SF6 on the channel
This is as great video essay. Thank you so much for explaining the styles and intricacies behind Ed!
Hey I’ve been a day one Ed lover in 5. When he was announced for 6 I was excited to play him. I got immediately discouraged by how much more dense he was and I dropped him and actually deleted the game because he was the one I wanted to main. This video made me redownload and practice him. I’m not perfect with him but the connections to real boxers in this video made me try and now item part of my strategy. Thanks for this video you saved my street fighter 6 journey
That's awesome man. Glad you have him another shot!
One of the best videos I've seen in a long time, just wow amazing
Awesome video and I cannot get enough of this guy's play style
Extremely fun to watch people use Ed
This was a well made video. First I've ever seen from you. I'm subscribed. Thanks bro. Looking forward to more when Akuma comes out hahaha.
Just give me Dudley I’ve been fienin for some Dudley and I love watching smug play Dudley
1:15 mma not ufc, ufc is the organiser
Fair point. Easy to get them mixed up sometimes
@@Skuxxedgreat vid but they ain’t, peace

@@evilevilcritter he called the high guard a peekaboo guard and he said balrog is an infighter instead of a slugger. You seem to not know anything about fighting either. Your pfp is cringe btw
This was a solid video and I actually wanted to do something similar as a fan and boxing enthusiast. Glad to have come across this vid and channel. Subbed.
Appreciate it! Welcome aboard.
I absolutely love his design, his combinations, Capcom really gave us the best show of boxing in a fighting game!!
I really like Ed this time around in SF6. He's got potential to be either a rad totally neutral character, or someone that's an anti-hero.
He’s an anti hero since he isn’t hostile to any good guys in this game other than Guile but still he targets M. Bison’s remnants exclusively so I would use the argument that he is a good guy entirely because the fandom page says he’s chaotic good so I think he isn’t a bad guy or neutral.
This video just oozes love and passion. Amazing!
Thanks man 😊
Nice vid bro, new sub
Great vid! Would love to see more video game fighting style analysis
More to come but feel free to check out the other characters I've already analysed in SF6 on the channel!
The psycho break is not exactly inspired by the 1 2.Its actually a technique in which you parry or redirect your opponent's punch with a punch of your own then utilise the momentum to return with a cross or a hook or uppercut .This technique is used by a japanese boxer named Naoya Inoue you can check out this technique on The Mordern Martial Artist channel's video named Naoya Inoue drills to KO.Aside from that nice video.
Amazing Video!
The german rap in the background really caught me of guard :D
very very well made video, loved it and will be checking out your channel
He’s in high guard in burn out not peekaboo guard
what’s the difference?
@@realchezboi peekaboo guard is hands at your chin, with elbows tucked into your waist, with a squared stance. High guard is hands near eye/forehead level with your elbows near chest area, could be used with a bladed or squared stance
@@Jason-ip6wq it’s a mix of both because when he blocks a mid he goes into peekaboo so he uses both
Nice vid bro , new sub
i just trying to learn some basics of sf6 but now i stumble on history and facts on boxing, interesting, thank you
since you mentioned Luke at the start of the video, can you make an analysis on him please? I really do like his character but i’ve always wanted to see an in-depth analysis on this new “protagonist”. It would be awesome if you could!
We need more content like this bout fighting games
very nice analysis!!
Ed vs Steve Fox would make for a pretty awesome episode of Death Battle. They've even done a boxing match before with Balrog and TJ Combo.
I quite like the idea that his snatcher is like he’s forcing his opponent to bounce off the ropes for a follow-up or pressure.
Great video ! Will there be more character design reviews ?
Sick video 🎉
Good video brother.
The flicker is so cool
I think Ima go buy Ed now, he looks really fun to play with
I hope they bring muay thai to the scene like sagat, but i personally think adon would be nice.
Marisa is Muay Thai kinda
@@Jason-ip6wq Marisa's fighting style is Pankration (similar to Gills fighting) a that mixes kickboxing and wrestling techniques introduced in Greek BC. Not the same as Muay thai which is more focused on the use of fists, elbows, knees and shins.
5:55 his guard gives me strong philly shell vibes.
I recently got into boxing, the first few clips I saw of ed at the start of the video instantly made me see he was a hitman user, I REALLY should get sf6 just for Ed
One detail I really like about Ed is the fact he plays incredibly well with Drive Guage economy: Kill Rush lets him keep up the pressure after knockdowns without needing to use Drive Rush, and by holding Psycho Flicker he can bait Drive Parry and drain the opponent's Drive Guage.
I love this not just because it makes for genuinely engaging gameplay, but also because I always interpreted the Drive Guage as a representation of a fighter's stamina; an a boxer having excellent cardio is extremely appropriate, contrasting someone like Zangief who has to tire himself a lot to get his big body moving.
thanks for the video
6:03 I didn’t notice this. It’s cool that Ed reverts back to the style Balrog probably taught him when he’s “tired” since he might have more experience with that than his own style. Old reliable..
Cool video
Ed is my main SF6
This was a brilliant video! I kinda hate Ed but you've actually made me wanna play him haha. Please do more of these for other fighters.
Thanks, will be doing more. Feel free to check out the breakdowns I've already made for other fighters in SF6 on this channel.
this video was awesome! what's the bgm?
To be fair he only throws a ball of energy when you're pissing him off
This guy feel like MOTIVATION!!
You know what'd be really fun? If they added Balrog and Dudley to later seasons so there could actual be all three styles of boxing to pick for avatar characters.
They made Ed so freaking cool
Cant wait for you to break down Elena's design
Johnny Guilty Gear if he was a German e-boy
I was actually more excited about Ed than Akuma. I used him in V and happy what they did to him in 6.
A traumatized boy raised by a crazy boxer brings us the most savage character
This video is too good
Nooo the video went into a dominos ad after Tyson rang the doorbell omg
Brother, I'm late to the party too. I just picked the game up after returning Tekken 8.
Wanna talk about late.
I just found out about guilty gear 🤦♂️
Here's hoping they add Dudley on the next season pass
when you put it into words Capcom really are trying their best on sf6 now i see why i love this game and its characters
I really wish they incorporated catch as catch-can wrestling to make him an all around MMA fighter.
Steve fox and ed is every boxers dream
yeah i feel like most people didnt give capcom enough credit ed was awesome and is my favourite character so far
of course akumas gonna end up being my favourite but ed is also really awesome in his own right and a character i actually wanna play now which i wouldnt have said about his sf5 version
Does anyone know what music was used in the background of this video?
Will you be doing more fighting style/character designs videos?
Yes. I've already made some videos on other fighters in SF6.
My two favorite genres fighting styles and fighting games.
Where's our modified philly shell boxer? Give us a Sean Strickland in SF. Give him all jabs and crosses with a command grab that's just a push kick.
Truly upholding Balrog's legacy
hoping there's room for a second boxer. an ed/dudley match would go crazy
first game to canonically take place after sf3 so i would love to see where he is now
Even though Ed is in I hope we get Balrog back too
Absolutely read the thumbnail as "BOING"
Its funny how T8 Steve leaned more on more comical boxing moves while SF6 Ed becomes more grounded in actual real boxing moves. I especially love how Ed moves like current era boxers. Its more refined and methodical in doing combos rather than slugging
FGC gotta watch Hajime No Ippo!
I'd like to add that Thomas Hearns himself admitted that Muhammad Ali was a great inspiration for his fighting style. From what I hear, he sees Ali as his hero.
Ok I might actually end up buying the game after seeing this.
2:32 where can I play this version of sf2?
What is a target combo?
Ed *CAN* flicker goon for 7 seconds
They cooked with Ed.
Ed looks like he's unwell. And I'm guessing it's done purposely. His jabs are sickly animated. Sf6 animations pretty cool
Funny thing is, u aint catching any boxing from ed in 6. He social distancing fr fr.
I really do like Ed, but I still want Dudley to come back lmao.
Huh! So that's where _Keijo_ got the in/out/counter methodology from.
SF6 Ed has the quick punch like Yamazaki from snk which is my fav character makes me wanna pick up SF6
Honestly, I'm pretty sure Ed's flicker is more inspired by Hajime No Ippo, than by its HJN's real life inspiration for it.
It wouldn't quite be the first time, either, as both of Dudley's Supers in SF4 are basically Ippo's Dempsey Roll and Date Eiji's Corkscrew.
those disjoints tho
Ed is steve fox in my books
holy shit he has flicker jabs
Random rant: I'm still not happy about how buff every character looks. The avatars expose this alot. My character is built like ed, tone and not buff but all the shirts and clothes that they try to upsell you make you look like your in a Halloween costume. It kinda looks ridiculous. Great video
I found it so frustrating to play with until I looked at character select screen and said it was more of a zoner type, bit counterintuitive at first, I thought he was a rushdown fighter, fun character tho
He’s a mix of both, he has good zoning skills that put Dhalsim to shame and good combos with stand HP and MP and his maid zoning move pulls them in to fight up close and personal so he’s a mix of both.
also ED is basically mashiba from hajime no ippo do anyone know that anime because i know it because i watch it
Where that clip come form 3:13
im only familiar with these boxing stances thanks to hajime no ippo lol
i saw the flicker jab and was like "MASHIBAAAA"
