    You are a LIFE SAVER!!!! I'm autistic and I can't stand the carpeting these cheap landlords be using to cover up the damaged floors. And because of that I tend to just stay on my bed or a chair as of the carpet was hot lava. Just by sharing your experience, you've shot rocketed my mental health and physical health. Thank you thank you

      I'm so glad I could help! Please consider using 1/4 inch plywood under the linoleum flooring to make it more stable I didn't do that in this video so the carpet underneath made the floor squishy so it broke after awhile but if you place the plywood on top of the carpet and duck tap it together making a sort of floating sub floor the linoleum on top will have more more stability and last longer :)

PLEASE PLEASE, don't let these comments get you down. People are nasty. I found your video VERY helpful. I have kids and pets. My last rental we had to pay to replace all the carpet because it got tore up so bad from 3 years of living there. Your here to give help and insight, and thats exactly what you did. Thank you for watching it! I probably would do this a bit different if I did it again, like I'd add some 1/2 inch plywood above the carpet and duck tape it together as a sub floor kind of thing before putting the linoleum on top if I did this again.

      @@ShelyHomeDesign hi the perfect solution without those additional steps are grip-strip planks: IMPORTANT QUESTION! I was told that the moisture will get trapped and cause mold. Is that true? Did you experience anything like this? I put the roll out vinyl and I wish I had your email to show you how it turned into a disaster after 4 years. Please get back to me about the mold/ moisturize potential 🙏🙏

      This carpet was quite plush, so it didn't age the best, but if you make a floating subfloor with plywood and tape the plywood together floating on the carpet it'll give you a smooth hard surface for the linoleum

    How did you get your vinyls to co.e together mime have a gap between them did you overlap it?

    • @ShelyHomeDesign
      @ShelyHomeDesign  Рік тому +3

      I did overlap it, and then used clear packing tape over the overlap, however I'm not super happy with this project. I think it would be better to use thin plywood underneath the vinyl and above the carpet and then tape the plywood together to create a fake subfloor for the vinyl to go over. It'll last longer that way and be more lile a proper floor.

      I chose to use hardboard instead of plywood, it was about 16 per 8 by 4 sheet, and I used around 8 ish sheets, I didn't do the whole floor with it, however plywood would work much better. The flooring I got on sale and the total for that was around 300 dollars!

      Carpet is disgusting, just put in hardwood floors and stop making your tenants live in subpar conditions. Or better yet, sell the home to a person who wants to own it and live in it and build equity! Stop robbing other people of the dignity of owning just because you can't figure out a productive way to make money. Abolish landlords!
