I want to build the third or second one. Do you think rivers of blood is still viable on 1.10? Also what is the best ash of war for faith build on cross naginata except phantom slash as I can’t access that without fighting Morgott. Great vid tho
Rivers of Blood is still very good for an ARC/DEX build! The best early AoW you can get super early and very easy for a faith build is Sacred Blade. Another would be Sword Dance - the best alternative mechanic wise to Phantom Slash. Both work on spears, despite their "sword"-names.
if anyone's confused why the Dragonscrest isn't where he shows it its because they moved the location. You have to make your way down to the third level by descending the pillars and when you make it to the third level go to the left if your facing the wall.
That really depends on what you enjoy the most. The Magic infused variant is maybe the most powerful and easiest to master for a first playthrough - but all variants are very potent. And for the Faith variant you can get Sacred Blade very, very early and it is a powerful AoW especially in the early game...sooo really pick what you like :-)

The third build benefits from the previous bows recommended as well? Also what good is the blood grease once you got the ash of war going you cant use the grease with it?
For the 3rd build Serpent Bow might be an option, though scaling on all bows is pretty terrible, so as a support weapon anything goes in that build. The grease certainly is not useful on high levels, more a starter option.

@@jag9872 Just enjoy the ride, nothing beats the first playthrough 🙂 - don´t overthink it, but vigor is very important early on, depending on your skill level ofc. If you don´t have the AoW "Sword Dance" yet I would suggest getting it...it can be obtained without a fight. Very handy AoW and very strong, chekc the wiki for the location.
Oh man, I tried to really make a build around that blade, but it is always very inefficient. Problem is the damage of the blade only really improves with STR and hardly with INT and the AoW Gravitas only scales with INT, so you have to split those stats up and end up with mediocre weapon damage and mediocre Gravitas damage until you reach a really high level. I mean with 80 STR and 80 INT you can make a great Gravitas-Samurai with the according Spells and Staff in the offhand, but for earl level builds you need to focus either on INT and make it a ranges/caster build with the Katana as side weapon, or focus on STR and lean into melee and the blade while having a lackluster AoW and no good ranged options, because spells hit like a wet noodle. 🙃
Hello and thank you for the work you have put up in this one! I wanted to ask, do you also have any recommendation for the Flask of Wondrous Physick? I’m especially interested for the first build. Thank you!
Sorry for the late reply. The INT-Samurai would profit from the tear that improves magic damage the most. You can combine this with utility (stamina recovery, or AP buff with repeated attacks) or survivability (protection, bubble or HoT).
If you go Moonveil it scales with INT and DEX (both B) for melee damage and INT for the projectile, if you go Ice Spear the Projectile scales with INT, Melee damage with DEX (and a INT though lower). It depends on your playstyle...if you lean more into the weapon movesets level DEX first, if you want more from the projectiles go INT or balance it out for both. Late game will be 55/60 DEX/INT and NG+ 80/80 anyway. The projectiles from Moonveil and Ice Spear are very, very strong, so most people go for a little more INT over DEX in the beginning.
i did the magic build and it's pretty awesome, now i have 24 points in intelligence and 23,20,20 in vigor, mind, endurance, i don't know why but ice spear doesn't do much damage so i mainly using moonviel instead. What should i do to increase my magic damage?

One question: In my game the Nagakiba requires 18 strength to be equipped, but I see that you never put points into strength, how is it possible? I feel like I am missing something because I have all of this katanas in my inventory but I can’t equip them because all of them have the ❌
The Nagakiba is mentioned as an alternative and if you want to use it you have to put some extra points into strength. So you are absolutely right and not missing anything.
I think holy samurai is better than magic samurai... You would have access to all the fortification incantations, holy buff, fire buff, electric buff, poison buff, extra heals... the list goes on.
The magic one is easier to play, the constant buffing can get annoying with a faith build - and Moonveil is an OP weapon. Both work really well, it is down to personal preference and playstyle.
Hey, some Ashes Of War have specific weapon types tied to it. For example, you can´t put Ice Spear on a sword. If you give me the time stamp, I can tell you which AoW/Weapon combination is used there.
@@Artraxast If you are referring to Eleonoras Twinblade, then this is a special weapon with a fixed AoW you cannot change - but the AoW of this Twinblade is pretty awesome and looks on screen maybe close to Bloody Slash, because of the red theme and the way it is executed. If you prefer a Twinblade with more felxibility I would encourage you to get the Godskin Peeler and pair it with Bloody Slash or Blood Tax - especially the latter is awesome: eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Ash+of+War:+Blood+Tax
@@wholesomegamer tysm but ill stick to this one atm , i try to farm runes now for the build cuz i want that 15 faith to use draconic spells , its my first playthrough
Yeah, tricky part...I had another one with the same problem...you have to go way further down then you think. There are several drops before you reach the lowest level. Take a look at the wiki picture: eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Dragoncrest+Shield+Talisman
There are two items to collect once you reach the lowest level - one is a Dagger, pretty much in the middle of the lowest floor. The Talisman is in the far corner towards the back of the Bestial Sanctum - it is easy to miss, if you are not searching the corners.
I’m confused the cross-naginata required 16 strength and the nagakiba requires 18 strength but in all the stat layouts you cap your strength at 12. Am I missing something?
PvP has for sure it´s own meta, but in general the builds can be used, maybe with small adaptions. Also you would need to bump your HP for PvP, vigor needs to be around 60.
Are you sure, there is a dedicated Talisman section in your inventory, that could be missed if you are new to the game. There are two Items down there, one is a dagger and the other the Talisman, did you check if you picked up the right item or both?
why do you need to jump of the roof to at bestial place ? is it to avoid enemies or is the game designed like that planning to go for that dragon tomorow , but i dont like the walk past enemies , if its becaus enemies i'll take the normal route can you pleas confirm why and if its the only way to reach that dragon ?
It is a hidden area you can (unfortunately) only reach by dropping down. Look at the wiki and maybe watch a specific guide....you will not nail it in your first (few) attempts, so prepare for some good old Dark Souls frustration...gravity is the true endgame enemy!
@@wholesomegamer thank you. Love that its designed like that. It means it was meant to be found without a guide and there is no other 'correct' way to get there.. Love it Thx again for informing me.realy love the game. Easier than expected but i know true hell is waiting 😅
To tackle the Black knight early is quite a challenge! Stay on his left side, he is unable to attack you with his main weapon as long as you are on his left. That helped me a lot. But he is at that point hard to wear down, com back 5 levels later and it will be a lot easier with more health and upgraded weapons.
Talisman slots unlock while you progress the main story. The second slot unlocks after you beat Margit (the first "real" boss) and later you in the game you will have 4 slots available.

I've invested in strength from the beginning to use great swords but I realized I like katanas and now I lack in dexterity and intelligence. Currently I have Dex: 20 and Intelligence: 11. Planning to get Dex 22 so I can use Nagakiba. Can I be a strength character but using katanas?
Going strength would be possible if you build around a fire based AoW (Flaming Sword) and incorporate the Clawmark Seal - like a Fire/Earth Samurai. Those would scale with strength, but the other options in this video are more flexible. Also you can respecc after the second main boss and gathering some Larval Tears: eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Larval+Tear
@@wholesomegamer I wanna keep my strength stats. I only need 2 more points to get Dex 22 so I'll be able to use at least Nagakiba but also great swords. Is this viable? To be a katana/great sword user and switch those weapons when I need it?

@@Artraxast Ahh, that first journey...nothing can beat that 🙂 - have fun and enjoy the ride!
Is muramasa blades included?🤔
I’m struggling killing the dragon guy because the little dragons get me can someone help
I couldnt find the talisman at 2:49 when u jumped off the bestial sanctum
Me either
Yeah, tricky part...I had another one with the same problem...you have to go way further down then you think. There are several drops before you reach the lowest level. Take a look at the wiki picture: eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Dragoncrest+Shield+Talisman
Can u also use incantations in lets say the first build? Im a new player..
Hey, welcome to Elden Ring :-) - The INT Samurai can use Sorcery and the Faith (second) Samurai can use Incantations.
I think I'll pick the first build untill i get rivers of blood (I just beat rennala and i am lvl 50 with 2 12+ blood bandit curved swords)
Good choice, the INT variant is very powerful and uncomplicated to use 🙂
@@wholesomegamer I just got RoB so I'll change to that build but if it doesn't work out I'll use my extra larval tear
dragoncrest talisman is not there for me, am I doing something wrong ?
There are two items to collect once you reach the lowest level - one is a Dagger, pretty much in the middle of the lowest floor. The Talisman is in the far corner towards the back of the Bestial Sanctum - it is easy to miss, if you are not searching the corners.
You full of it bro I literally don’t see anything on either end
I’m confused the cross-naginata required 16 strength and the nagakiba requires 18 strength but in all the stat layouts you cap your strength at 12. Am I missing something?
No, these are optional weapons and you would need to adjust accordingly. The second build caps out at 16 str for the naginata.
Can this be used for PVP as well?
PvP has for sure it´s own meta, but in general the builds can be used, maybe with small adaptions. Also you would need to bump your HP for PvP, vigor needs to be around 60.
best wondrous physick mix for build 3?
what armor is used in the last build?
Early game is the Samurai Starter Set, Late Game would be Ronin Set + Okina Mask.
@@wholesomegamer thanks 👍
I picked up the dragon crest and when i went to my inventory it wasn’t there ?
Are you sure, there is a dedicated Talisman section in your inventory, that could be missed if you are new to the game. There are two Items down there, one is a dagger and the other the Talisman, did you check if you picked up the right item or both?
why do you need to jump of the roof to at bestial place ? is it to avoid enemies or is the game designed like that
planning to go for that dragon tomorow , but i dont like the walk past enemies , if its becaus enemies i'll take the normal route
can you pleas confirm why and if its the only way to reach that dragon ?
It is a hidden area you can (unfortunately) only reach by dropping down. Look at the wiki and maybe watch a specific guide....you will not nail it in your first (few) attempts, so prepare for some good old Dark Souls frustration...gravity is the true endgame enemy!
@@wholesomegamer thank you. Love that its designed like that. It means it was meant to be found without a guide and there is no other 'correct' way to get there.. Love it
Thx again for informing me.realy love the game. Easier than expected but i know true hell is waiting 😅
Where you get that head armor?
At 9:30 how u got fire on ur weapon like that?
That would be the Ash of War "Flaming Strike": eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Ash+of+War:+Flaming+Strike
I got to the spot but the DragonCrest Shield Talisman wasn’t there 😢 does anyone know why?
The Talisman is in the far north corner of the lowest level. It is easy to miss.
@@wholesomegamer I’m at the lowest point and in the north side but it’s not there. Do I have to do anything beforehand to activate it?
Never mind! You were right! My dumbass wasn’t at the lowest point I thought it was the first level down. Thank you so much for pointing it out 😄✌🏼🫡
@@Wasabi112095 np, happens to the best of us 😀
Thank you sir this video is very helpful
The black knight is unbeatable at this point tried everything
To tackle the Black knight early is quite a challenge! Stay on his left side, he is unable to attack you with his main weapon as long as you are on his left. That helped me a lot. But he is at that point hard to wear down, com back 5 levels later and it will be a lot easier with more health and upgraded weapons.
10:03 can someone help . Am i can have 2 talisman at the same time ?
Talisman slots unlock while you progress the main story. The second slot unlocks after you beat Margit (the first "real" boss) and later you in the game you will have 4 slots available.

Working on 1.10 patch?
Yep, everything still works great with the latest patches.
And what do you mean set to bleed?
By this I mean the affinity you can choose when applying an Ash of War (keen, occult, bleed and so on).

i am level 33
What teleporter?
Near the water area there's some bushes it's behind them oh its near the thrid church of merika
I went to the sanctum & the talisman isn’t there. V sads.
You most likely went not all the way down to the last level. Another person commented the same and said later he missed that there was another level below. It is much further down then you might think, ckeck again ;-)
@@alexonmendez466 At some point it makes sense to specialize your build on one or two main dmg.stats. As I said, there are AoW that support STR, if you use those on any Katana they will scale with STR.
@@wholesomegamer so it's not ridiculous to be a strength character using dex weapons after all... That was my doubt, now thanks to you I finally solved it ❤️
I'm a bit confused. It looks like you are wielding a Naga...but you can't use grease with an Ash of War weapon. Can you explain, please? BTW - your marker for Hoarfrost is out. It should be placed in the lake above, not the ravine.
Could you point out the timestamp where I use the Nagakiba that confused you? I´m sorry that the marker is slightly off, thank you for pointing that out.
@@wholesomegamer at 5:53-55 mins you appear to be holding a Naga with a frost buff. I know you can use Hoarefrost and select the cold option. But mine doesn't show the frost graphic on the blade....perhaps that visual was removed in 1.09
@@wholesomegamer at 5:53-55 mins you appear to be holding a Naga with a frost buff. I know you can use Hoarefrost and select the cold option. But mine doesn't show the frost graphic on the blade....perhaps that visual was removed in 1.09. The blade at 7:56 shows a holy buff, but that looks more like an Uchi....so didn't think you could add buffs to any blade that has an Ash of War. BTW - I've found this Vid the most useful yet. Thank you
@@wholesomegamer The other thing that's different is that I'm focussing on dexterity, so some of the faith focus you use will not be available to me. Having done a Faith Paladin for 3 runs through...I want to try a bit of variety. Also, the final boss is immune to faith so I'm not going that way again.
@@pierreweinzweig8591 At that point the character uses the "Chilling Mist" AoW, that leaves a visible buff on your blade. I used it simply to highlight and showcase the armor set that I refer to in that section - I am sorry that this has led to some confusion.
Anybody wanna help me with this? I'm on ps5
what armor is this?
Which one? I used different sets in the video and should explained them. But it is either the Samurai starter armor, the White Reed armor or the Ronin armor (with a different headpiece).
This for example at 5:30 min
