I was helping people in redmane the other day and so many people that summoned me got their cheeks clapped in seconds because they had like... 500 - 600 hp and the bosses killed them in 1 or 2 hits. It'll change your life when you are able to survive that one massive hit a boss lands on you and you can heal up and keep fighting. Vs being 1 shot and having to restart the whole fight.
My problem is leveling up.. beyond slow. Yeah I bought the crafting thing, cookbook and torch. But besides that nothing n I haven't lost any runes. And I've killed alot of soldiers. Still only leveled once. So at this rate it'll take atleast a day to put 2 pts in vigor. Doesn't seem right but.. idk

Purely awesome. As a new Souls player and being older ... this game is VERY difficult for me. I needed a non spoiler oriented tips and tricks just so I wasn't constantly dying and this fit the bill. Now to go practice while trying to avoid carpal tunnel. Thanks!
Don't forget that if you're stuck somewhere, you don't have to stay there. Go explore and find upgrades and easier things to level up on, then go back.
Props to you for trying this game. Soulsborne are very rewarding despite of its difficulty. Here's an additional tip for you: Level up doesn't really mean a lot if your weapon aren't upgraded properly. So be sure to prioritize using your runes to upgrade your weapon. Even your default weapon could be extremely powerful when you upgrade it and it's actually more effective sticking and upgrading your old weapon instead of finding a new ones (been sticking to my falchion since the beginning. I'm lv. 97 now, lol). There's really no best weapon or equipment. Any build are viable. Also, when you're stuck at a boss, dump some points in your vigor. Vigor not only increase your HP, but it also increases your overall defense, so it helps massively.
after 8 guide videos, yours is the first one that actually mentions what sites of grace and runes ACTUALLY ARE. Thank you being willing to highlight key features up front.
Awesome guide for new players! One other mechanic that can be easily overlooked is that having a shield raised will greatly slow your stamina regeneration. Practicing lowering your shield after an enemy's attack chain, even for half a second, will make a huge difference for stamina preservation.
A handy little tip: holding down on the dpad will select whatever is in the first slot, ideally your health flask. I believe it works the same for up on the dpad but that’s only really important if you have room for more than 2 or 3

The portal to dragonbarrow takes you to a great farming area for runes. The enemies there drop like 1300 runes per kill and their fairly easy to backstab and take down. Theres like 10 or 12 in the area you can quickly reset the area and kill them over and over m
Weapon upgrades (up to +3 at the Church of Elleh anvil) will increase your damage output quite a bit more than stat upgrades, so if you find smithing stones or somber smithing stones, stop at the Church to upgrade your weapon - you will take down those early enemies and bosses in fewer swings.

This was awesome mate thanks heaps, I'm an open world rpg lover but never touched the souls games so this guide (after watching it 10 times) got me good enough to take out the first boss (after 3 tries). Legend xx
Thank you for making this video! I've never played a Souls game ever, or anything like one - this is the first time I've ever played a game like this and although I'm having fun I was worried I just wasn't 'doing it right' so this makes me feel a lot better.
I played the original Demon Souls on PS3. Never played dark souls or bloodbourne. I was like that person who got upset their favourite indie band became popular. I will definitely get this game
This helped me tremendously. I just beat Godrick the Grafted doing exactly this stuff and it actually worked. Now I finally feel like I’m getting somewhere in this game, this is my 1st Soulsborne game and it’s the hardest game I’ve ever played, and I had no idea that I would like it this much. I’ve never died so much in a game and wanted to come back for more. These are just good games, they really are, thank you for this guide, you’re out here doing the lords work…or…The Elden Lords work 😉
Best tip that you missed is when rolling role the way they swing to dodge the attack and maximize the opening. So if they are swinging on your left side roll to your left side.
I’m a newbie but I’ve thing I’ve found very helpful is fighting on your horse. You can kill multiple mobs easily, or get away fast when in danger. Use this to grind levels very quickly
For Godrick the best thing to do for the wide attack at the beginning of phase 2 is actually sprint towards HIS left side the instant the cutscene ends, worked for me every time.
Your video is a life saver I went to first boss little to early n got dominated over n over I was kinda bout to give up but I watched your video n it was to accurate thank you.😊
I just started playing yesterday and the game is so detailed and in depth that it's honestly overwhelming. There is so much to do and see. I have been storing any runes I find in a chest at a site of grace before I explore new territory.
Regarding the Demi-Human Chiefs: Liam was fighting both at the same time. When you first enter, if one of the demi-humans spots you (or you otherwise attack one, be it with a bow, spell or throwing item), it'll only aggro the Chief closest to you. If you stay near the entrance to the room, you won't aggro the other Chief (and the five, I think it is, adds that come with it). As Liam said in the video, the fight's much easier if you're not constantly watching your back, worrying about the other Chief. Just... mind where you roll and that you stay away from the 'tunnel' where the second Chief is, and you can pick them apart one by one.
As someone who has been playing for 8-9 hours, I have defeated godrick while looking at 0 content so far. I have learned some things that I wish I knew earlier 1) there are maps, 2) I can summon things using ashes, I heard of summons but I always thought they were spells 3) you can mark the map. 4) you can craft. 5) The whetstone thing
The best guide I’ve found on UA-cam, thank you SO much! You’ve helped me not give up on the game as a newbie to the souls games lol Please please make more videos for the next areas of Elden Ring 💕
First time playing a Souls game. First time using a controller. And I can't recommend the Wretch hard enough. This game deserves to be explored from the ground up, and you can only do that on your first playthrough. I went in knowing nothing, just to see how far I could get. Still playing after 20 hours and having a blast. Now I'm ready for a bit of knowledge and your video is perfect. Thanks so much.
I just finished reading the Berserk manga and knew Dark Souls and Elden Ring were heavily inspired by it so I decided to finally play them. Idk if starting with Elden Ring as my first souls type game was a bad idea but, it is what it is😭😭. Thanks for the video
On my first time playing and having no idea what i was doing, went up to margit, somehow was able to get constantly to 50, 75 if not once up to 80% of his health without upgrade or the wolves, but thank you so much for this tips, that'll help a lot !
One thing about the rune items, if you have multiple types, it's easier to fast travel to a merchant and sell them, you get full runes and it's faster than using various types one type at a time.
That’s awesome that it has clicked for you now. Congratulations. It took me until Bloodborne before I fully got it. I played Demon Souls and Dark Souls before then but not Dark Souls 2. I haven’t played a lot of Elden Ring yet but I’m hoping to soon. People say the get gud thing is elitist but it isn’t it’s more talking about that click that happens when you finally understand and get the game and start winning more than losing.
Jeez I love these games but they trigger my anxiety so bad. But I learned a lot from this video. Especially about being patient. I beat Margit finally and it felt so good. I've always loved watching other people play the games and I've never actually played any, just stuck to watching lore videos and hundreds of hours of streams. This is the first FromSoftware game I've played and I beat my first boss thank you. I cried honestly. 😢
Pretty good beginner’s guide. I am a returning player who clocked 300+ hours on Demon’s Souls, the first soul game made by From Software. But I skipped Dark Souls series entirely. The combat of Elden Ring feels very familiar. No problem with fighting and dying. It’s the inventory items, skills, and equipment that I’m struggling with.
Minor correction if noone has already stated. Summoning Spirits costs FP (Mana) and you can resummon them if you regen your FP after the Spirit(s) have been defeated.
@@NaturalNatureStuff Yeah, after continuing to play with this in mind I did confirm this as well, you can regen your fp to use with other things but you only get one summon per summon area per life.
If you didn't like Dark Souls I don't think you will enjoy Elden Ring. It's the spiritual successor just with an open world and a few more combat mechanics. In terms of boss moves, Elden Ring is definitely even harder. Many bosses don't leave any openings and require extreme precision/quick reaction or some other strategy to damage them.
@@domiy13 hey I hated the others. And I'm 25+ hours in and am in love. But I'm much older than i was when i tried the others and appreciate the challenge nowadays

Im 20+ hours in I am struggling too. But I've learned that using the horse whenever you can is really helpful. Also to level up and improve weapons and armor. But I still haven't figured out how to beat most of those really hard bosses. One hit and I'm dead
This was one of my first videos to watch, helped me out immensely. One thing I would add, when fighting Margit, avoid the corners and the sides as it’s too easy to fall off the bridge. This killed me more times than Margit himself
The rolling dodge is the one to practice. Throwing weapons when an enemy's back is turned good plan. That big fella at the Gate front ruins is a suitable candidate.
Thank you so much for this video, I was so intimidated by the game being the first game I played from this franchise and you made it so must more approachable! Cheers

I've been dying every other enemy I've faced, this really helped. Appreciate you ❤️
This helped me tremendously.
Underated comment Thank you!
I’m a newbie but I’ve thing I’ve found very helpful is fighting on your horse. You can kill multiple mobs easily, or get away fast when in danger. Use this to grind levels very quickly
Thank you for the pouch tip. I had no idea how to equip items to it and was wondering why I couldn’t roll when I equipped everything to my equipment
Regarding the Demi-Human Chiefs:
Liam was fighting both at the same time.
5) The whetstone thing
thank you so much, im new to souls and im going to solo margit
Easier said than done but I believe in you!
@@chuckieWalsh I shall face my fears, 1 more minute!!
@@shadowu745 Well? How'd it go?
I personally am stuck even with Sorcerer Rogier and my wolves lol.
This is the first video i've watched that makes me feel like i can handle this game. Thanks!
I’ve watched many beginner guides and yours is the most clear and helpful for people new to the souls series such as myself. Thank you!
I dont want to discourage you but this may be the hardest soul game of all
Haha. I'm a complete beginner and by pure chance I picked confessor because I liked how the character looked the most. I'm already loving this guide.
And I chose the health boost charm thing lol.
The best guide I’ve found on UA-cam, thank you SO much! You’ve helped me not give up on the game as a newbie to the souls games lol Please please make more videos for the next areas of Elden Ring 💕
dying is part of fromsoft games , just spend your runes to level before you go deep into an area, uts a brutal game but its fun
did you give up
First time playing a Souls game.
This has been the best guide I've found as someone who's only played through Sekiro. Thank you!
I just finished reading the Berserk manga and knew Dark Souls and Elden Ring were heavily inspired by it so I decided to finally play them. Idk if starting with Elden Ring as my first souls type game was a bad idea but, it is what it is😭😭. Thanks for the video
This is a HUGE help as I'm just getting started and struggled like hell with Dark Souls
On my first time playing and having no idea what i was doing, went up to margit, somehow was able to get constantly to 50, 75 if not once up to 80% of his health without upgrade or the wolves, but thank you so much for this tips, that'll help a lot !
u know u can say the g too right?
One thing about the rune items, if you have multiple types, it's easier to fast travel to a merchant and sell them, you get full runes and it's faster than using various types one type at a time.
Seeing Patches make his return in another From Software title makes me happy 😊
I last saw him as a spider in bloodborne
That’s awesome that it has clicked for you now. Congratulations. It took me until Bloodborne before I fully got it. I played Demon Souls and Dark Souls before then but not Dark Souls 2. I haven’t played a lot of Elden Ring yet but I’m hoping to soon. People say the get gud thing is elitist but it isn’t it’s more talking about that click that happens when you finally understand and get the game and start winning more than losing.
I’d suggest starting as the vagabond as a beginner personally. They’re tough and the halberd is crazy op!
Also boring
@@10gu91 If any class is boring to you, it seems you have missed the point of these games. There is fun and adventure for all classes. Praise the sun!
@@10gu91 let people play how they want jeez

Jeez I love these games but they trigger my anxiety so bad. But I learned a lot from this video. Especially about being patient. I beat Margit finally and it felt so good. I've always loved watching other people play the games and I've never actually played any, just stuck to watching lore videos and hundreds of hours of streams. This is the first FromSoftware game I've played and I beat my first boss thank you. I cried honestly. 😢
"Don't start as the Wretch" me after suffering as a wretch, dying a lot but loving it 👁👄👁

I have watched over a dozen beginner videos and this is the first to explain that all runes are lost when killed, so thanks.
Thank You Master Richardson. Please keep us enlightened with any discoveries of particular import.
As a first time user of this game it’s videos like these that make me not want to quit this game and give it a chance finally
I am suprised you didnt mention fighting on the horse. It's so much easier to fight some Monsters this way and a great way to farm runes too.
Nah horse fighting is hard af
@@tobyhill9155 get good!
Just kidding 🙂
@@jcmottern lol i beat fire giant on a horse

I’m glad you brought up the skulls, a lot of people over look the skulls and they are a wealth of ruins just laying around.
I have been picking up everything.
@@xgamerunknown6414 yea me too, even the stuff that’s not useful you can sell to merchants
First soulsbourne game - I finally beat Margit after easily 100-150ish attempts.... And I still play this game. Goodluck all!
I'm new and started as a Wretch. I'm super happy with that decision because every piece of armor or weapon is new for me and always try them.
I’ve only listens for 1min and I already can’t handle how he says ring
Thank God I found this 🙏. No other guide came close to somewhat explaining this insanely complicated game
Solid guide for those who are new to the genre. Thanks, I found it really helpful.
I've never been able to resummon even with full mana. You get one summon, that's it.
@@NaturalNatureStuff Yeah, after continuing to play with this in mind I did confirm this as well, you can regen your fp to use with other things but you only get one summon per summon area per life.
Wonderful, thank you. My first From Soft game. Started as a watch and inadvertently skipped the tutorial. This video is great!
Thanks sooo much for this guide. Brand new to this whole scene. I remember trying Dark Souls back in 2011 and qas like nope. So this is great
If you didn't like Dark Souls I don't think you will enjoy Elden Ring.
Great content brother. Just started my journey and only found enough bravery to clear the limgrave tunnels. But now I feel a tiny bit better about what's ahead.
Finally a good, helpful guide. Thank you. You also reinstalled a bit of confidence for me when you mentioned that shielded knight was a pain. I thought it was just me.

Not installed. You're not a mechanical device.
This is the first video of yours that i've watched, and it won't be the last! Great video. I appreciate keeping the mystique of the game while still giving an in-depth guide.
Good advice probably should have bought the crafting kit before I was 12 hours in the game
Thank you sooooo much. I spent 5hrs last night completely lost with no clue what to do. Never played a souls game before so had no idea what I was doing and turned off after several hours very irritated I had made 0 progress. This guide is perfect for brand new players thank you very much for all these tips I look forward to returning tonight and putting all these tips into practice. New sub now I will be watching all your videos going forward
I'm a pretty casual-type gamer and although I love open world RPGs, this one, while exciting, has definitely been beating me down already. I'm like 3 hours in and I haven't accomplished anything, but I think now I have a bit of confidence to get back in there and practice. Thank you!
Im 20+ hours in I am struggling too. But I've learned that using the horse whenever you can is really helpful. Also to level up and improve weapons and armor. But I still haven't figured out how to beat most of those really hard bosses.
One hit and I'm dead
@@dist221 i got my ass kicked by the huge horse guy boss
It beats everybody down. But you will feel amazing when you beat it
@@xgamerunknown6414 Yeah the tree sentinel. He's a fierceful opponent, it took me a long time to finally beat him
@@dist221 great thing is that you can ignore bosses until you've leveled up
This was one of my first videos to watch, helped me out immensely. One thing I would add, when fighting Margit, avoid the corners and the sides as it’s too easy to fall off the bridge. This killed me more times than Margit himself
RPS always delivering simple , well thought out informative content, good on ya for helping out the newer crowd
I love how you can play this game any way you want, grinding can make you the beast you want
Not every hero wears a cape. Thank you!!!
Cheers
Welcome to the From Software family! Hope you’re having fun!
i usually watch these videos when i’m stuck in a boss because there are so many ways to kill a boss and these videos remind me of the strategies i have
For anyone struggling to understand what he’s talking about. Elden Rin=Elden Ring.
no
For anyone reading this comment, I'm sorry but you've found one of the many assholes on the internet.
Well done video. I'm new to this game entirely and have spent a ton of time dying with no clue what the hell is going on. After watching 10 videos for help, yours was the best one . Thank you for the help. Tough game but don't mind it.
Perfect video. Exactly what I was needing thank you!
14:25 starts the info that I wish I had known :) But the entire video is gold.
