The cross naginata and zweihander are also available relatively easily. And before the "guts sword is better" comments, the zwei is easier to get, lighter, and easier on stats making it more accessible early.
@@TekTonic1l1l1l Yup. Zwei is the best colossal sword for everyone except pure str builds and mostly str hybrid builds (cold infusion, blood/poison infusion), in which case it is outclassed by gugs.
I’d argue that Guts Greatsword is easier to get due to being able to just go a pick it up rather than having to grind out the 3.5k runes to buy the Zweihander. 21 strength and 12 dex (2 handed) isn’t too stat hungry, especially when you consider that he had the winged scythe on the list 😂 Zweihander is much better early if you want to use a shield or a staff in the off hand or something though as it’s only 19 strength to one hand it.
For the tenth weapon, you could have stayed in Caelid and gotten the Meteoric Ore Blade in the Caelid Waypoint Ruins.... one of the best katana's in the game and much easier to get than some of the other weapons on this list. Thanks for this video!
The dragon communion seal would have been a fun/reasonable 10th item to add. You can bait the enemy guarding it into dying to the chariot so you don't need to fight hardly anything to get it. Its easily the best seal early game.
"With the DLC right around the corner" Checks to see when this was uploaded: 1+ year ago.😅 Now the DLC is actually just around the corner, just a few months away!
The flail, also at gatefront ruins, is really underrated. I actually favour it over the lordsworn greatsword in the early game, it's main advantage being it's a very fast, agile weapon, and the enemies that gave me the most grief early game were the ones with those fast heavy attacks, the lordsworn greatsword was just too cumbersome. The flail was great for getting in a few quick hits then dodging out of the way of those heavy attacks. Great video
Your guides are probably the most helpful ones I've come across. I've started using your guides instead of the ones on the wiki because you're actually more thorough than they are
Searched forever to find a good early weapons guide like this, either found 'insane early weapons' that required visiting late game areas to get or stuff so old that most the content is out of date. So thanks for this video, really helped a newb out. :)
I think you forgot about Bloodhound's fang. You can get this very early, it has insane base damage and good scaling, with a great weapon skill + blink follow-up. If that wasn't powerful enough, you can also enchant it or coat it with weapon effects for some reason. Oh and it has innate bleed buildup. Can easily carry you through most of the game.
he dident forget he said at the biginning of the vid that he only said weopens that dont need a boss fight only one you need to fight at all is the straight sword at the end
I wasn't expecting the lord sworn straight sword to be on this list I've been wielding that weapon since day 2 of my playthrough and it hasn't failed me yet it has gotten me all the way up to the late game.
It's great because it's so on-path, but imo the zweihander is better and just as easy to get, it's just a bit out of the way all the way at the weeping peninsula merchant near the mausoleum
You can literally run to Iji for up to +4 somber, so that's nice! Plus over in Caelid you can get 8 and 9 relatively easily. I don't remember where to get 5, but you can get a 6 just outside redmane castle. 7s require a glitch, I believe (something about getting over the bridge in Volcano Manor), and the Ancient Dragon Somber stone can be achieved just outside of Mohg, if you do Varre's questline. I was able to get a weapon up to +9 before fighting a single boss, but I'm not sure if you can still get that +7 in Volcano manor. I think they fixed that.

Hey Dom, I took a hard needed sabbatical and when I got back yesterday I couldn't fight the urge to get back into one of my favorite games. Elden Ring. I have deleted my first playthrough and I started fresh. But when I was starting out I thought about you and your wonderful collection of helpful videos that you have done. For me it would be... Claymore instead of the Lordsworn, I feel it has a better moveset and honestly it just feels like a bigger sword with better reach, but that might just be my imagination. It has a slightly heavier stat investment requiring 13 Dex instead of just 10 Dex, but it's really not out of most starting class' range for use right away. It's in Castle Morne and you might not have to fight anything to get it. I'd honestly just go for the Nagakiba instead of the Uchigatana, especially if you already have them going for the Reduvia. It's a little more legwork, but it's only two assisted invasions and then you don't even have to fight Eleonora to obtain it. It has a bigger stat investment, especially that 22 Dex, but you can make an entire start to end-game build around this weapon. You can even pair it up with the Uchigatana if you have enough Str for it and that's a fantastic combo. Double-Slash is an amazing Ash of War to put on it as well, along with a Bloodflame buff to make it the "honest" Rivers of Blood. Regalia of Eochaid and Sword of St. Trina... can't really argue with those. If you can pull off getting them super early, you can't go wrong with either. Meteor Staff, excellent choice and the thing that proved to me that starting Elden Ring as a sorcerer was not only viable, but incredibly fun and easy compared to literally every other Souls game. Get your hands on that staff, and right next door you can grab the Rock Sling spell (that gets buffed by the staff) and you basically have something you'll use most of, if not ALL of the game. So we've covered Str, Dex, Int and Arc. Your Fth weapon was the Winged Scythe... not bad and the only other weapon I can think of for a quick Fth weapon is either the Golden Epitaph (which didn't wow me, but at least is good with undead enemies) and the Treespear, which is more of a Dex weapon at the end of the day, just like how the Golden Halberd is more of a Str weapon. Black Knife is too difficult to get at the start, the Erdsteel Dagger isn't very strong, Sword of Night and Flame is a huge stat investment and just as much an Int weapon, Cipher Pata is kind of a joke... I guess you can get the Devourer's Scepter right away, but that is a hefty stat investment and the loss of an armor set later on as well as the Blasphemous Claw if you get it early on.
What about the Ice Hatchet ? The weapon skill is great against crowds and still very good against bosses. It deals inherent frost, and after you get frostbite on a target, you deal increased damage for some time. It's light, and the attack speed is decent imo. You have to get to liurnia, but there are no bosses to fight or tough enemies to either kill or evade.
I duel stance lord sworn straight swords in my first playthrough infused with bleed ashes for double bleed build up and they destroy everything - they are really quick so any status effect build would work great with these.
Getting the Holy blade weapon art grants a flat 90 holy damage bonus, which is huge early game. It fits perfectly on lordsworn great/straightsword, especially if you are going for a faith build anyway.
Even though it's tricky to get, you don't technically have to kill any enemies to get the Dragon Communion Seal in Limgrave. The best seal for a dragon communion incantation build. Pair that with the Reduvia and you have probably one of the most OP builds in the game.
Damn! You play super aggressive! I love it! Those giant headed crows and wolves are by far the most panic inducing enemy I’ve ever encountered in my 14 years of playing Soulsborne games!
Honestly the Noble's slender sword is just better than the lordsworn's straight sword. It's a lot harder to get but I was lucky enough to get it when clearing out that same camp in the beginning.
Shout out to Claymore, my beloved. All you gotta do is go into Morne, through the race war, and take right into a room with the chest with the claymore
id add in the icerind hatchet. in itself its not too special but it does come with the hoarfrost stomp ability which is an insanely powerull ash of war. You can stun enemies twice with it allowing for an easy approach and kill, it costs little FP, you can savely spam it, and it hits in a cone, you can hit 5+ enemies at once with this and the size makes it much easier to hit fast enemies with it as well not to mention it does build up frost which is also a killer debuff and you can grab it savely without fighting anything from a chest in the swamp of the academy. Also id add the iceneedle rapier. Again per se not too special but it allows you a mid range projectile WITH ZERO FP COST which makes most non boss encounters in the game piece of cake. And it also builds up the neat frost debuff
What about Edgar's alebarda? It comes +8 on the start, and great to cosplay helicopter with its ashes To get it - get through weeping peninsula with quest of Irina, reach and sanitize the fort, talk to Edgar. Then return to Irina's first meet location, talk to Edgar there and then slay him
I'd also suggest frozen needle. It's a thrusting sword that pairs well with jellyfish shield, you can attack from behind it with its buff, it has a ranged attack, it has frost build up, and it favors dexterity over strength
I can’t believe 70 odd hrs in and I’m still finding things in Limgrave. Thanks for helping me find the ujikatana, that’s brilliant. I’ve opened quite a bit of Caelid, I hate that place!! Got over to the island too, haven’t attempted to slay the dragons yet so I can carry out the dragon ritual. Just an amazing complex game and I love the fact you don’t have to slay bosses to progress. Thanks for the help, your info is so much help to me.
I know of a 10th,its in Caelid tho. The Metioric Ore Blade Its a Int Str Katana, heaviesta nd shortest but with the best dmg,and inherent magic,it has gravitas and ya can't change it
great video you are the person I always go to your voice is clear and at a speed that people can understand unlike other UA-camrs that try to beat the speed barrier
Carian Knight's sword is also good starting weapon for a sorcerer. The Meteorite staff btw, at 63 INT, still outclasses my staff of loss +19 for night sorceries by a tiny bit ( with staff of loss in offhand for the damage boost ), which shows how good Meteorite staff really is! Anyway, good selection!
I used this on my last character until I got the Dark Moon Greatsword. Getting this very early on can be annoying though. The carriage is guarded pretty heavily.
I've only seen a few of this guys videos so far but they have all been fucking solid, none of that click-bait bullshit I see on so many other channels.
If you wanted to add number 10, I'd Def put the guts greatsword in there, super easy to get from the back of the carriage in Calid at the very start of the game and arguably the best colossal in the game
reduvia is my go to choice to compliment the mohg greatspear for my arcane run, some enemies are to annoying to deal with using blood ritual, or melee with the spear, and then reduvias fast and deadly WA is amazing backup
in the same ruin in limgrave with the teleporter trap to caelid is also the teinblade (eventhough it's not strong it's a cool weapon, even more so in case u later on want to use elenoras bloodpole)
The best weapon in Elden Ring is not a weapon itself, but rather, it's an ability/skill. This skill is Timing your Dodge Roll. Once you learn to dodge roll, and avoid your enemy attacks, then you learn when to strike with weapon. Master avoiding attacks by dodge rolling, then you'll discover that the weapon you use is not as important.
Lordsworn's Greatsword isn't that great when you could get the far superior Claymore for just a little more work by taking a trip just a bit further south. But very happy to see the Lordsworn's Straight Sword on your list. It's a very fast weapon that consumes very little stamina. Great choice as a starter weapon at low levels. If you loved the Lothric Knight Straight Sword from Dark Souls 3, this is the Elden Ring equivalent.
So far, my favorite weapon is the Grafted Greatsword. At level 6, it hits harder than my level 15 Greatsword and level 6 Falling Star Beast Jaw. And that's not even using the L2 buff. If I press that, my damage goes even higher for like a minute. I also love the move set. The R1 is a fast sweeping attack. This sword is a monster.
Regardless, you have to complete an entire dungeon and defeat the boss to get the Grafted Greatsword, so it's not really relevant to the constraints of this list
Great video! I find upgrading my weapons and/or knowing what weapon to go with is one of the trickiest element of this game since Im rather fresh to the From Software games. Say you invest forever in a weapon only to find something completely different you wanna use later on? Im still trying to wrap my head around this system.
The great acts from the first traveling carriage you come across is also super good for strength builds at least super early on I'm finding it is breaks stance so easy
Bandits curved sword is another good one. If you grab the sacred blade ash of war (scarab just north of the church with the wondrous physic) you can easily farm the skeletons outside the church on the northern point of the weeping peninsula (cant remember the name)
I recently acquired the great epee Let me tell you something if you slap a bleed ash of war, on this thing and do wield this weapon, plus a whip or something else that has a high critical. Let me tell you something you’re gonna be Prock, and that bleed every single hit almost this weapon is absolutely devastating, because of the high critical and start a new play through with this build and it’s absolutely just bonkers. If you do it correctly you’re going to be killing, bosses, insanely fast, or at least staggering them to the point where the bleed activates almost every hit it is by far the most fun I’ve ever had.
I’m playing confessor (just got the game last night) and after watching some vids I wanted to run a confessor “paladin” faith build. That part about the scythe had my mouth watering (although if possible I’d like to run a sword and shield style more) going for the scythe first thing when I get to play tomorrow!
It can be hard to get bc you have to go down the really tall Caelid tower and kill the Godskin Apostle, but you get the Godslayer's Greatsword for it. Sick weapon.
Surprised you didn't mention the broadsword, Zweihander, or cross-naginata. The broadsword is the best infusible straight sword pound for pound, and you don't need to farm enemies at all. You can just buy it for 1800 runes at one of the merchants in Limgrave. Similarly, the zweihander is one of, if not the best early game weapon for pure strength builds, and you can buy it from the merchant in the southern end of the Weeping Penninsula, just south of mainland Limgrave. The Cross-Naginata is the best infusible spear in the game, and you get it from the same tunnel where you get the Moonveil, but you don't need to kill anything to get it.
I always go for the Noble Slenders over the Lordsworns. Reduvia's a must. That thing is broken. I find that Night and Flame is pretty easy to get. You can basically ride straight there. Just have to sneak into the manor. While you're there though, might as well beat the boss and get Carian Retaliation. I didn't know about the cliffside trick. Thx.
Could’ve added to Flail since it has a respectable bleed rate and can be used effectively at 2 levels into playing Warrior, meaning you have access to sword and board, the twin swords moveset, and a bleed weapon with more status build than the samurai starter katana. No Skill the shield and the flail lets you “Food Processor” the Farming Dragon for build bleed up.
I’m the new player you just mentioned. i’m very thankful for this style video and your map area specific vids. so far. thanks a lot. any new content helps. it seems a lot of the old builds are nerfed?
Greatsword, cross-naginata, bloodhound blade, noble slender sword, nagakiba, golden halberd, zweihander, meteoric blade, and even the moonveil are just as easy to get, and probably better than several of the weapons on this list. (Moonveil is debatable, but using Rock sling and meteorite staff shown in this video make the boss of gaol tunnel very easy) The noble slender sword is the best basic straight sword in the game because it has the longest reach and gets great scaling from dex and can be farmed as a rare drop from any noble enemy with a straight sword. The best location is the graveyard just north of the dragon communion chapel in caelid, with 8? nobles.
"you can get all these without killing a single enemy!" " So once you kill Nerjius he drops the Reduvia" hmmmm something isn't quite right here lol
Was thinking the same 😂
You're not going to be the one to kill the guy, an NPC does it for you. All you have to do is get in a couple hits.

I'd also suggest frozen needle. It's a thrusting sword that pairs well with jellyfish shield, you can attack from behind it with its buff, it has a ranged attack, it has frost build up, and it favors dexterity over strength
Hard boss
@@axelviskaren2658 Heal kills it in two hits and stuns it long enough that it can't react
The Metioric Ore Blade
Its a Int Str Katana, heaviesta nd shortest but with the best dmg,and inherent magic,it has gravitas and ya can't change it
This nice, thanks 😁
I love that the first one he mentions is the sword I used almost exclusively to beat the game.
As a beginner I have the last long sword you showed and equipped it with the blood blade enchante. What do you all think of my beginnings
Me: Struggling to beat Godskin Noble
Also me: Hears about St Trina’s Mist of Slumber 😮
great video you are the person I always go to your voice is clear and at a speed that people can understand unlike other UA-camrs that try to beat the speed barrier
Awesome vid. Saved for when I try out some new builds. Already have the uchi and reduvia. Not sure to level arcane or go with more dex
You really want to dual wield staves of loss if you want to cast night sorcery for maximum efficiency, but sadly there is only 1 per NG
I've only seen a few of this guys videos so far but they have all been fucking solid, none of that click-bait bullshit I see on so many other channels.
Brilliant video - jumping back into Elden Ring after getting distracted by FF16 ... im 40hrs in but dont have most of these - thank you :)
I found the first one by accident
Thanks for the video! I got all of them with exception to the red blood one in the waters where you have to fight a red guy.
Those Caelid birds are not to be messed with... chased me for a mile
Man you're just the best. Funny, engaging, personable, and humble.
Great Guide for Elden Ring Weapons not only for beginner. Many Thanks
It's all fun and games until you run out of stamina
Uchigatana + flaming strike ash of war is insane. Build a lvl 20 + 0 weapon using this until end game.
Thanks, didn't know about some of these.
Thanks man this is a great video and will help me a lot
Thanks for this. Just started playing not to long ago so videos like this very helpful.
Yup thats pretty cool. Once I got it it carried me through my first playthrough. Though I struggled a lot with Malenia in the endgame.
Regardless, you have to complete an entire dungeon and defeat the boss to get the Grafted Greatsword, so it's not really relevant to the constraints of this list
Thank you for adding arcane build weapons! I feel like those get overlooked and it’s my favorite build type for RPGS
Thank for all your help man, you sir are a true elden lord!
Great video! I find upgrading my weapons and/or knowing what weapon to go with is one of the trickiest element of this game since Im rather fresh to the From Software games. Say you invest forever in a weapon only to find something completely different you wanna use later on? Im still trying to wrap my head around this system.
This is my first Soul game experience, thought I would hate it as I am a poor gamer, but have quickly become addicted to this great game.
look up the bloodhounds fang, theres a summon u can use in it from a quest line and when upgraded its op
I thought I'd explored all of Caelid, but somehow I missed that sleep sword, will have to remember it if I ever get back onto Elden Ring.
thanks, I was able to get the Sword of St Trina pretty easy with your guide
DOM JUST DOESN'T MISS WITH THESE GUIDES! HELL YEAH, MAN!
I heard this dude voice first three seconds, I subscribed
In the Weeping Peninsula, I would add the Morning Star and Claymore.
The Great Sword is also easy to get (if you're sneaky) in Caelid.
Got Lordsworn's Straight Sword from the very first humanoid I killed in the game. Some patrol. Nice.
Great video , just started playing the game recently and definitely needed this
So incredibly helpful ! I appreciate you posting this video
The great acts from the first traveling carriage you come across is also super good for strength builds at least super early on I'm finding it is breaks stance so easy
If you dual wield the uchi’s as a samurai, there is a real sick combo that ends in the most beautiful way!
Bandits curved sword is another good one. If you grab the sacred blade ash of war (scarab just north of the church with the wondrous physic) you can easily farm the skeletons outside the church on the northern point of the weeping peninsula (cant remember the name)
The first sword on the list has been my go to, it works great with different ashes of war as well
Épée is the french word for sword, you had the last part right but the first part is also an 'ay' sound (é). Would go something like Aypay
The french cant stop me from saying "E-Pee"
@@frozenturbo2474 nor should you.

Boss I'm just now starting this game if I don't say it I'll be wrong you got some of the best help videos ever really appreciate it
It can be hard to get bc you have to go down the really tall Caelid tower and kill the Godskin Apostle, but you get the Godslayer's Greatsword for it.
Thx.
Vulgar milita saw is my favorite early game weapon. It's pretty good to be a mini beast man
Could’ve added to Flail since it has a respectable bleed rate and can be used effectively at 2 levels into playing Warrior, meaning you have access to sword and board, the twin swords moveset, and a bleed weapon with more status build than the samurai starter katana.
I speak from experience when I say I tried the wizard staff and the sword of Saint Trina at +9 and absolutely melted the godskin in volcano manor
Twinblades is an amazing weapon. I highly recommend it.
Best Elden Ring Content Creator ❤️
Dom, you are awesome brother, I appreciate your videos and guidance. Keep on rocking!
Love your videos brother. I’m on new game plus 8 and I’m still finding new things !!! Love this game my favorite of all time !!!!
Had no idea you could get help with Bloody Fingers. Got the dagger ❤
Good stuff
Excellent, Informative video. Gonnaa be using this on my newest run
Greatsword, cross-naginata, bloodhound blade, noble slender sword, nagakiba, golden halberd, zweihander, meteoric blade, and even the moonveil are just as easy to get, and probably better than several of the weapons on this list. (Moonveil is debatable, but using Rock sling and meteorite staff shown in this video make the boss of gaol tunnel very easy)
The noble slender sword is the best basic straight sword in the game because it has the longest reach and gets great scaling from dex and can be farmed as a rare drop from any noble enemy with a straight sword. The best location is the graveyard just north of the dragon communion chapel in caelid, with 8? nobles.
I am using Bloodhound's Fang got with the help of Blaidd early in the game. Its skill is amazing and based upon strength and dexterity
