    Always fascinating to see work like that ! Great design as always, do you think it could be possible for you to create an "inside map" ? Like a big structure, where you create rooms, corridors, gardens etc.. Thanks for the answer :)

    There is no Level Design in this video.

    • @StephaneCharre
      @StephaneCharre  7 років тому +2

      What level-design means for you?

    • @kowproduction
      @kowproduction 7 років тому +3

      Hey.
      What you do in this video is a mix of "Level" build and "Level" Art. Even if your final result is more of a simple scene than a real level.
      Level design is a part of game design discipline, so no game design, no level design.
      But don't worry, you're far from being the only one that make this mistake unfortunately. It's just annoying for those who are really interested in this subject.

    • @StephaneCharre
      @StephaneCharre  7 років тому +2

      I understand you, I've made some researches too.
      Differents disciplines exist like the level-building and the level-designing parts/jobs. For me at least level-building should be include inside the level designing part. But you're right, a level designer plans the whole map, what the player will do, how and where. He imagine and establish the main concepts of what the level should be.
      So yeah this video deals not really about the level design but it more easier for us to call this level design for the youtube search. Whats your opinion about it? What do you do ?

    • @kowproduction
      @kowproduction 7 років тому +2

      Yea I know and understand why you called it that way don't worry. It's probably too late to change anything because everybody or almost make this mistake on UA-cam.
      And you're right in the way that a Level Designer can be brought to Level Build during the creation process but always in a game experience perspective.
      Im currently a Level & Game Designer student that look more into Level Design. Et je suis français comme toi ;)
      Je ne connais pas ta situation, si tu a un travail ou non, mais sur ton profil artstation et ton site web, il est également fait mention de Level Design, chose qui n'est donc pas présente dans tes compositions de scènes. Si tu cherche vraiment à être Level Designer ou au contraire, Environment Artist/Level Artist, faire la confusion entre les deux ne fait pas très "pro" et risque de ne pas jouer en ta faveur lorsque des pros vont regarder ton profil.
      C'est dommage car tu semble avoir des compétences évidentes. J'avais bien aimé la low-poly medieval city.

      Cool, j'attaque l'école de 3d Objectif3d à Montpellier l'année prochaine, ayant déjà 3 ans de programmation dans la tête. Je garde ta recommandation en tête. Je vais surement modifié dans mon CV le titre level-design. Merci pour les compliments. Si tu veux en discuter sur discord ou ts n'hésites pas. Bien amicalement!

  • @YoutubeAccountMan
    @YoutubeAccountMan 6 років тому

    Why do so many people make flat scenes instead of full levels? You can't walk around in this as a character which is kind of the entire point of a level

    • @StephaneCharre
      @StephaneCharre  6 років тому

      Its like a showcase of what we can do with the assets and people just want to create short environments related to what they dreamed.

    Hi @Alpha
    I just want to ask you one thing about UE4
    I'm very early begginer in it and I don't know from where I can get these materials like mountain, barrel, wood buildings etc...(random examples)
    I have to buy them in marketplace on Epic Games Launcher or there is any website where I can download it for free?

    • @StephaneCharre
      @StephaneCharre  7 років тому +1

      ZerO TV some of them are free content in the marketplace. You can also download demo packages.
