It says in Exodus that he's a man of war and in Genesis Yawhey preferred blood sacrifices of Abel over the sacrifice of bountiful produce. In fact, according to the book called the Ascension of Isaiah, the entire purpose of Jesus is that he's a kind of multiverse traveler who has to trick the powers of our mortal realm into killing him in order for him to pass through the multiverse from realm to realm. In doing so, Jesus was able to triumph over Yawhey who is a kind of false god and ascend to unite our mortal world with the true God's supreme grace.

It's good for us to remember that everyone isn't taught by the same techniques. Not all teachers teach use the same methods. This is why we had some teachers that we loved and others not so much. To ram the notion of sin down someone's throat doesn't always work. To make them see their sin can work much better. This is what I think he was doing here. I train/teach a lot of people about commercial insurance (yeah, I know) and I use the method of asking questions all the time. It works great to lead people to an answer they might not otherwise see.
Remember, some plant seeds, some water those seeds and some harvest those seeds. No matter what part you play, you do it as unto the Lord and He gets the glory. Your reward is in Heaven. His "sidestepping" the question wasn't to deflect from it, it was to frame the answer in such a way that the one asking could see it without feeling accused. Jesus did this all the time with parables. When asked who my neighbor is, Jesus presented the answer in such a way as to force the one asking to consider his own condition, not ram some rule down his throat which he already knew the answer to.

One night an atheist came outside on his balcony an stared up at the stars. He smiled as looked at them and thought to himself, "I see 👀 the (same) stars every night and they are so beautiful, they are always there and they don't change." Then he went back inside to finish the book he was reading about "The Journey of earth catapulting through space"... When he got to chapter about earths travels he read that the earth is traveling at 30 kilometers per second through space. He was puzzled and took out some paper and a pencil and started to calculate this theory. He quickly realized that the book was wrong because if the earth was traveling at 30 kilometers per second it was mathematically impossible for him to see the same stars at night, not only him but all of the countless generations that came before him who also saw the same stars. He thought to himself if that theory were actually accurate then every 500 years we would see different stars and star systems and that astronomy would be changing rapidly, but it doesn't.

(BTW If anyone else claims to be the only forgiver, does that make him / her the Only Way, too?) Now, for the record: I, too, have done wrong things. I got punished for most of them and I'm not complaining. As for the rest, I reject the idea of shoving the rightful punishment off onto any innocent person past, present or future. So the circumvention does not work, in my case. And, besides, we know what the answer to the original question is. I am glad that the presenter admitted it.

A better analogy with the judge would be for the judge to say that at the start of his career he spent a year in jail and can now pardon any and all crimes for those who wish to have their crimes pardoned... No matter how many times you commit the crime and appear before the judge. There is no punishment for doing wrong in this, if you do or don't do wrong, the same punishment has already been enacted. This is the opposite of justice and worse yet it gives blanket permission to commit whatever abhorrent deed you desire...

I've read at least 5 different versions of the Holy Word of the Living God Jesus Christ's biography since the early 1970's, the Holy Bible, in general about 8 times, and the New Testament at least 300 times. Every time I open God's Word, He speaks to my heart and leads me further down the path of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit! I wouldn't recommend the archaic King James because of the outdated vernacular. The New King James is better. The Amplified Bible is excellent but much wordier than any others, the New American Standard version is a very good Bible should someone choose to pursue the Catholic perspective. I really like Young's Literal Version when you want to study the original meanings of the Aramaic and Greek. I'm not impressed with "the Living Bible because of the paraphrasing or any of the other modern versions. If I was just beginning to start reading the Word, I probably would stick to the Latin Vulgate, the Septuagint, or maybe a website where you can study at least five versions at once so you can delve into the original meaning of the Aramaic, Greek, and Hebrew. Either way, I always preface any of my study by an intense, devoted prayer asking the Holy Spirit to guide me by His anointing. If you haven't been baptized in the Holy Spirit, I would strongly recommend that you first become rock solid and build some trustworthy friendships with fellow believers who believe in the inerrancy of the scriptures and who don't get too legalistic but let the Holy Spirit move! They have many full-gospel congregations who operates in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and who you can turn to in times of trial. I will ask Jesus to help you! God bless!

You don't have to figure anything out hell is only for Satan and his demons. According to Peter Jesus went to hell while he was dead for three days and saved the people that died before the cross. After the cross we are all saved by grace. When you ask forgiveness of a sin you are crucifying Jesus again and again we are already saved by grace and the cross once and for all. Read the New Testament after the four Gospels. Judgement day is just too determine the extent of our reward not whether we are going to heaven or hell.

Just believing In Jesus isn't what quickens you
It's being born again that makes the difference.
The devil believes and trembles before Jesus
But being born again wipes the slate clean and God casts your sins over His right shoulder into
the sea of forgetfulness it says.
So belief must turn into a desire to be made new, whole again except this time your birth is not according to man or the flesh, it is according to Gods Holy Spirit who does this operation of faith.

Have you heard of sedimentary layers and how with each layer in stone or earth is a year and we can look at the age of stones objects etc? It’s just a part of science these days but i’m not a scientist. Anyways, the dead sea, basically it’s Gods target for history right beside Jerusalem and I say that because anything that happens in that city, earthquakes, eruptions etc will be recorded in the rocks layers and u can date a specific earthquake to when Jesus died and it’s seen in the layer of rock at the dead sea. There’s a whole lot more to it if you want to know I just skimmed the surface there. And I know it’s like so what if an earthquake happened when he died but it’s cause of the tearing of the curtain and what humans did, what and how God told us exactly what would happen to His Son. It proves Jesus was real and it’s now down to if you believe He is Lord. And that’s why God said the only way to Him was through His Son. There’s a lot more, a lot.

You can go look further and look up what I mentioned above about the earthquake at the moment Jesus died to specifically show you he died on a cross on this year and we know it’s accurate because we can see significant earthquakes from hundreds of years (more than 400) years before Christ and so we can date that a specific even did take place. Read about it. That’s not even biblical it’s historical. I’m trying to offer you one piece of evidence but you completely have no desire to hear and that’s why your not seeing or hearing. I feel that way a lot and it’s not that we have to know every detail but it’s the Faith as Chris P said. Talk to Him and He will listen.

The debate shouldn't be seen as sticking it to your opponent, but as a way to bridge understanding between you and them. If you're a Christian who doesn't want to look stupid or who wants to stick it to some atheist who thinks they know better than you, your head is in the wrong place. Whether you debate a Muslim or a Jew or a Buddhist or an atheist, you should always keep in your mind that at then end of the conversation you want to call them brother or sister and no to push them away out of vanity. The Bible has the answers, if it didn't it wouldn't have spread all over the world and stuck. People have questioned the Bible since its conception and they always should because it needs to stand up to scrutiny.
With that said, this is a good way of handling it. When blunt questions are asked like this the questioner almost always wants a blunt answer intentionally. They don't want a follow up, they just want "yes if you don't believe in Jesus Christ you're going to hell" and nothing more. It's meant to shame you rather than engage with you, but when you have the opportunity to engage and to delve deeper and explain that we are human beings and we have done wrongs and because we've done wrong we deserve punishment as punishment is apart of justice, but that God in choosing to die at our hands and telling us we are forgiven is payment for our sins from then on, it becomes a bigger a deal. If you know of Christ and know that he died for the forgiveness of sins, how can you refute God? To refute him and to say I don't believe is to not want God and hell is punishment because it is a place without God. Now if one were to say "I'm not convinced" I would still say that there is reason to examine the bible further and examine the points of doubt, because there are answers out there, you just have to look

    • @melluzi

You're wong. "some atheist who thinks they know better" is not the case. Unlike Christians, atheists don't care about unanswered questions as unlike any religion, science and common sense answer them one by one. There are millions of things that used to be explained as God's punishment and now turned out to be absolutely natural and explainable. Nobody will ever provide an evidence a guy called Jesus didn't live in that place during that time as that would mean saying there was no John Smith living in London in 2005. Unfortunately, all the rest is mythology and it's totally unnecessary if you just want to be a good person living a good life. Willingness to do good things to others must be much stronger motivation than the fear of going to hell and it that's not the case for someone, he has serious issues.

Well done. I would answer that question with a story. Remember the two thieves on their crosses to the left and right of Jesus? These two men, in their own way, encapsulate all of humanity and our responses to Christ. On the one hand is a thief who questions why an all powerful being doesn’t save himself (and us!) the trouble of punishment. The existence of punishment is an offense to that theif. On the other hand is a thief who recognizes that he deserves what’s he's getting, and that Jesus doesn’t, so he asks to be remembered by the eternal being at his side. It’s quite a statement of faith, given that all of the disciples had scattered, and Jesus was seemingly defeated at that point. Logically, the whole idea would’ve been preposterous to the other thief who was singularly focused on escaping justice. The cross has always been an offense to those who are perishing. He was scolded by the other thief, “Don’t you fear God? We are getting what we deserve, but this man has done nothing wrong. Jesus, remember me when you enter into your kingdom.” The simple prayer of “remember me” harkens back a number of prayers for salvation and forgiveness among multiple Old Testament figures. We are all thieves awaiting punishment, to one degree or another. Justice must be served. How we respond to the offensive cross will determine whether we escape it.

Couldn’t one simply deny the idea, and it wouldn’t be so? After all, reality is simply the projection of how the mind perceives the universe, rather than the universe itself. So in that sense, an insane man could not be punished, since he wouldn’t be able to comprehend that he is being punished. Nor could a man who is cognitively impaired, or a man who is brain-dead. • @richmyers6128

Only God knows the answer, but here's my opinion:
Why did He create sociopaths? For that matter, why did He create psychopaths, serial killers, puppy kickers, etc, etc, etc..... because God uses all things to give Him glory. Without seeing and knowing the evil in the world, we wouldn't need faith, would we? Everything would be perfect, and we would thank God and love Him without choosing to love Him...... but there's the other predicament. He gave us free will, so that we have the CHOICE to love Him. We also have the choice to sin and send ourselves to hell.

    • @doug753
      @doug753 5 місяців тому

Just because you have sinned doesn't mean your going to hell. Hell is not the same as the. Lake of fire and brimstone. And the Lake of fire and brimstone wasn't created for man. It was created for Satan and his angels.

    • @johnnyreb280
      @johnnyreb280 5 місяців тому +1

So.. Matthew Henry's commentary often emphasizes the concept of free will in interpreting biblical passages. In the context of individuals with sociopathic tendencies sir, the perspective could be that God grants humans the freedom to make choices, even if those choices lead to immoral behavior. The idea is that God's omniscience doesn't negate human responsibility for their actions. Consequently, the potential for sins leading to hell may be viewed as a consequence of individual choices rather than a predetermined design by God. This perspective aligns with the theological theme of free will present in many Christian interpretations.

Wendy, the answer is as follows, first, the question was not really intended as an actual question, it was intended as a trap, a stumbling block.
That notwithstanding, how I believe is not the key to being right with God; thus, to the direct, verbatim question, the answer is, no, you don't need to believe exactly like me to go to heaven, be right with God, or however one thinks of that.
The issue is this, you and I and all of us were irrevocably destined to be separated from our loving God, Creator and Father forever. There was absolutely nothing that could be done about that. BUT, He loved us, He loved me, He loved you; so much so that He was willing to put aside His royal rights, become one of us, and associate with our pain and suffering by suffering Himself, and even dying for us. He paid for our reconciliation, restoration and restitution. He won our war with a horrible destiny and, now, let's us enjoy the rights and privileges to be called children of the King of all kings.
I think this is the greatest news ever!
The real answer to the question is that God created you for relationship with Him. That's still what He wants; and He was willing to humble Himself and pay with His own life to get it.
God bless you, Wendy. I'm praying your eyes are opened to the beauty of true life.

He didn't want to provide the answer he thought was right because it would have made his religion look bad, so instead of answering honestly he dodged the question and gave him an answer that was so watered down that it was completely irrelevant to the argument. He intentionally left the moral crimes and the punishment ambiguous because that makes it more palatable, if he came out and said the crime was looking at a woman and thinking she was attractive, and the punishment was burning in hell for eternity, that would have been more difficult for him to justify

One day as he went out, he told the children not to ride the new bikes he just bought for them bcoz they could get injured but that they could play with every other toy they had. While he was away, a cunning friend of theirs came by and was able to convince them to ride their bikes. They did and got injured. So he grounded them by not letting them ride their bikes for a period of time while making sure they got medical treatments.
He told them they would get even better bikes if they perfected their bike-riding skills which they couldn't do without practice. So he rented bikes for them .
He employed professional trainers for them while heading the team and being there to give them some guidelines . The children had to go through intense training. Sometimes out of enthusiasm or excitement, they did what they wanted to do and ended up getting injured. He was always there to pick them back up and encourage them knowing their ultimate goal was to get their dream bikes.
Long story cut short, they finished the training successfully and got their dream bikes.

A Christian's responsibility is two-fold: Strive to let Christ live out His through them and proclaim, not debate.

      I think he means
      A. Bad things deserve punishment.
      B. We all do bad things.
      C. We all deserve punishment
      D. There is no way out of the punishment we all deserve unless we have a pardon from the Judge (God).
      E. That pardon comes in the form of Jesus who took the punishment for us by dying on the cross.
      F. If we accept that pardon we are saved. If not we are doomed.
I struggle immensely with that but I think that's the gist of it. I guess you could say I want to believe but it just sounds so contrived and simplistic. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know.

      Krishna,
That's the beautiful thing about the gospel of Christ is that it really is simple at its core. There are some details that I believe you missed though that makes the gospel much more clearer. First it is not just "bad things" that are what deserve punishment here. God is the creator of all and the creator of us and because He is God out creator there is a standard in which He wants us to live, a moral law. We have broken this law, which has allowed out nature to become sinful, a nature that rebels against God and His ways and seperates us from Him. Because God is perfectly Holy, good and justice His response to our sinfulness must be punishment if not He wouldn't be thoe things. We all have sinned against God and deserve punishment. See it is more then just "bad things" it is throwing God's ways in His face.
You are correct there is no way we can fix our sin, our nature, or punishment ourselves. We are hopelessly doomed. But God being rich in mercy and love, and though we don't deserve it, providing a way for our nature's to be made new, for our sin to be forgiven, for us to be made right in the eyes of God, restored and redeemed, now and for all eternity. That was through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and only through Him, He is our Savior, our salvation and redeemer. You correctly stated taken the punishment we fully deserve.
God gives us the choice and freedom to choose to accept the gift of Christ and what He accomplished for us on the cross. It's the only choice in this life that truly matter, too surrender to Christ and follow Him or not. There are eternal consequences based on what we decide.
The details matter and make the gospel of Christ that much more beautiful, amazing and clear.
I pray this helped and that you will continue to ponder, consider these words and more importantly consider Jesus Christ.

      New Covenant Whole Gospel:
Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him.
He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth.
Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by
husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis?
Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart.
Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36)

This guy is not that good at it. Because if the lawyer said," No"? And the answer should be "No" because there's no such person as a moral person. Because not all people who commits moral thing should be prosecuted? Even a Judge is not going to punish a person who committed a moral thing. If a person look at someone with a lustful thoughts, there's no judge in the world who would punish that person. Thinking of something bad is not as doing something bad. The problem with Christians is that they all are confused and been mislead by people like this guy. There's a gray area in ones interpretation of moral things. A person stealing food to survive is not question of moral, a person killing an enemy to survive is not a question or moral and all Christians know about this because they all for the killing of their enemy, they are all for the stealing of land as in Israel stealing land from the Palestinian, as in the fact that they are all advocate for the death penalty, and even they God they love so much also created these moral sins. Like sending the plague to kill all the innocent children in Egypt and the sending of the flood to kill all the innocent people of the world. So Christians are living in a fantasy world that were created by their ancestors to control them. That's all.

There is only one true Christ, and he was prophesied to come in the Old Testament. If you have great interest in this subject, there has been much produced, not to mention the bible itself. The bible is a written history, proven by genealogies, not just some made up stories. The key is that you must know Christ, as savior, before you can rightly understand it, because you must have the Spirit of God within you, to see the light.

Bad things don't deserve punishment as much as the deserve being right. That includes doing justice to the wronged and reforming the sinner so they can do good in the future.

Good comments and approach. One thing I would note though, is that if you belive in eternal conscious torment as the punishment it's a lot harder to explain that as being just or Christ as being as substitute. If you believe in death (annihilation) then it makes the direct answer easier and more just and the substituionary atonement of Christ's death absolutely fits. So the concept of burning forever in hell seems harsh because it's unbiblical and unjust, which is a large part of the reason many Christians can't answer directly and need to use this approach.

All our sins are committed against a infinate God. He offers us the free gift of salvation if we continually refuse to be forgiven telling God we dont want him. We dont want to be forgiven, he eventially grants us what we are asking for. If we tell him we dont want to be forgiven we are also saying we want this world to continue the way it is with murder and stealing and rape. Even if we dont commit all of those sins we are saying we want sin to continue. If in a court of law a person who raped and murdered many girls told the judge smiling that yes he did it and if you let him go he would continue, would you want him to ever get out of jail?? If you take a few seconds to murder a pregnamt lady to steal her money and they catch you should they only punish you for a few seconds cause thats how long it took you to commit the crime? Or if you saw that person and they admitted they like the way they are, and dont ever want to change ,would you put them in jail for life? What people dont understamd is everyone will have eternal life ,some with God some without. If you commit crime and dont have remorse and dont want to change even if offered a pardon.then just like a human judge that would sentance you to life in prison God also sentances you to life in prison. but your life is eternal. And if you refuse his free gift and tell him you dont want forgiveness than he wont forgive you.and in hell you will eternally be sinning against him .there are many reasons for eternal punishment but the main reason is you told him you dont want to be forgiven .i truly dont think anyone with a heart at all if somone brutally raped and killed somone you loved and in court he was offered a pardon and not only refused but said he would wish to continue this way if let go ,that you would want that person ever to be let out.

God doesnt want any to perish but if you refuse the free gift, and are unrepentant and tell God you dont want to be changed, then according to christ himself you are condemned..any sin can be forgiven and he will make you new and grant you eternal life if you repent and place your faith in him not in yourself. If you deny this and tell him you dont want to be forgiven .and you dont want to change then he will send you away from his presence which is what you are asking him to do...all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God but christ suffered and died for what you did.. for what I did and offers you a free gift of salvatiion. dont refuse it or think you can earn your way to heven, or tell him what he suffered on the cross wasnt enough..his blood is prescious not like the blood of bulls and goats which could never take away sin. Some actions have permanent consequences. For example, If a man gets drunk at a party, then crashes his car, killing himself or another person. His finite action, driving while intoxicated, led to horrible permanent consequences. If a person lives an unhealthy life style their body is slowly destroyed, and many times the damage cannot be undone. If a person cheats on a spouse, that spouse may divorce them. And no matter how much the cheater may want a second chance, they may never get one.
      This is reality.
From a religious view point the concept is the same. If one corrupts and destroys the soul, the consequences can be final.

Some religions say you must only believe and not accept obedience to be saved, some say you must accept obedience and be baptized into Christ, others say you must accept that Jesus was only a man, others you must accept one personality in the Godhead, others say you must accept the Trinity in order to receive salvation and so on and on.

The “problem” Jesus “solved” is based on the strange assumption that God can’t forgive without someone being sacrificed, and that this God must punish one forever and ever unless you accept the horrifying sacrificial death that He demands. What a sad god. I grew up with this nonsense and it still makes me feel nauseous. My little two year old great nephew came up to me once and said, “Uncle Tom, did you know Jesus died for my sins?” That’s sad, and sick. This nonsense didn’t come from Jesus, but from Paul after he fell off his horse, knowing nothing of Jesus and his message of loving and caring for one another. If this “belief” somehow brings you closer to God, believe it. But from my experience, most people that do believe this are some of the most unkind, unthoughtful, and often the most racist folks I’ve ever met. I asked my Christian, racist dad once if Black folks will be in heaven. “Of course,” he said, “if they believe Jesus died for their sins. They’ll be in their part.” His heaven will be segregated. It’s a get out of hell free card, without any inner work or growth. By the way, if a judge does decide to grant someone a pardon, that judge isn’t going to make another innocent person take on that person’s punishment. He just pardons.

I suppose there’s really nothing a Christian, like myself, could say to you to change your mind. But since you posted this publicly, I guess I just feel like responding, lol cuz that’s my nature I suppose.
You’re right. Too many people who claim to follow Christ aren’t kind, charitable, or loving. They believe they checked off some spiritual box that allows them to boldly judge others, promote their own agendas, all because of they’re supposed “get out of hell free card”. I think people like that have missed the message of Christ (a lot of atheists would disagree with me and say the bible teaches hate, intolerance, and harshness. But I guess I don’t see the bible like that, lol which they would again say I’m wrong). This brings me to my next point(Christ’s Message) to what you were saying about the horrible sacrifice and God’s “demand” for it. God didn’t demand it. If, and I say “if” because I know you don’t believe and I can’t quantify to you what I do believe, so IF the punishment for sin is a spiritual death ( ie. the inability to be in the presence of God who the bible says is the source of life) and IF God is supposed to be this perfect being, how can he just pardon spiritual criminals? Wouldn’t we fire and lambast any judge in our own legal system who just pardons a rapist or a murderer? Our laws demand retribution. Why wouldn’t God’s?
The horrific nature of Christs death was not demanded by God. The horrific torture was implemented by twisted evil people at that time. And God didn’t demand the REAL sacrifice that Christ made for humanity, the spiritual separation from God. God didn’t demand it, the bible says Jesus willingly made that sacrifice. And that God rewarded his faithfulness by restoring Him to life, never to die again. And I think that any person that looks to that sacrifice as a pardon for their own sins and acts the way a lot of these “believers” do is a liar. Because the bible says “those who are forgiven much, will love much and those who are forgiven little will love little”. I know this most likely won’t change your beliefs. I guess I just wanted to stick up for the Christians like myself, who are def still very imperfect, but that our faith makes us love the world and try to be the best we can in it.

No, no, no... He actually loves you/others enough to allow you/them to go to hell if that is what you/they truly want... If people have lived their lives wanting no part of God (or only wanting a relationship with Him on their terms), it would be unloving for Him to force them to spend an eternity with Him.
Right here, amongst all these video comments, are people who have said as much as that they don't believe in God, that they don't want anything to do with Him, that they walked away from Him, etc.. This is proof that you needn't look far to see examples of people whose own words indicate that they don't know and/or don't want to know God. Of course, it's their free choice to have that opinion.
If that seems too simple, picture yourself having to be the roommate of someone you just don't want to be around; maybe they are demanding, nosy, loud, selfish, etc., and say you have to be their roommate for a year. Very unappealing, right? Now multiply that misery times infinity (since it is generally believed that going to heaven is eternal/forever) and you can clearly the problem of God accepting everyone into heaven when not all want to be around Him. If such people are there, it might not feel so heavenly to Him anymore. I don't know what God thinks about such a scenario, but most people dislike being around those amongst whom they find themselves feeling unwanted.
So, if God brings these people who dislike/hate/distrust/etc. Him against their will to live in close proximity to Him forever, when they really don't want to be right there, what is He supposed to do? Create an additional "heaven," one devoid of His presence, for those who cannot tolerate His perfect heaven? He could do that, but calling it any sort of "heaven" would absurd, for it is entirely arguable that what makes heaven a perfect place is God's presence there, emanating love, comfort, a sense of belonging, ultimate fulfillment, blessings, etc.
But, for argument's sake, let's suppose He did create such an additional "heaven." In this place, not only would God not be there (because those he bought there would not want him around or want to deal with Him), but His fans wouldn't be there, either, because they'd want to be with Him in the "real heaven." So the only people there would be those who don't want anything to do with God.
Now imagine such a group of people left to their own devices for eternity, without any familiar laws, since - at least here in Western nations - laws are (or at least were) largely derived from Judeo-Christian mores/morals. If God lovingly chose to not subject these people to painful/disturbing reminders of Himself - let alone for eternity, He might very well exclude any sort of familiar rules/laws from this additional "heaven." As such, residents there would have complete freedom to make up their own rules. Anyone who recently died, would be newcomers in a place without presence of God or any recognizable reminders of Him. Again, from the loving motivation of not wanting to subject these people to reminders of their lives on Earth ,during which they had to tolerate mentions of God and others' beliefs in Him, perhaps, it would be a place thoughtfully designed to look nothing like Earth. Or, if it did, perhaps it would be dark, to spare people from visual reminders of anything related to God, including His various creations.
So God, and His biggest fans would not be there. And it might well have no recognizable rules/laws. And it might be very dark. After having people there for a few thousand years (according to literal reading of the Bible, the Earth is about 6.000 years old), who knows what sort of society would exist there? If it was totally un-influenced by God and any reminders of Him, such as the 10 Commandments, and the Bible and its teachings, it might not be that good. For example, since a law prohibiting murder and stealing would remind the people of God's 10 Commandments, God might spare them from such annoyances, and exclude such societal guides from this place.
As well, since the inhabitants would be the people who didn't want to deal with God or be introspective and willing consider the possibilities of the unknown, let alone the very possibility that the Bible could be true, one might expect that they wouldn't exactly value virtues such as kindness, self-sacrifice, generosity, humility, and so on.
My guess is that newcomers would be treated a lot like newly imprisoned inmates. And also reminiscent of prisons, there would be a "pecking order," or some sort of hierarchy, and lots of hazing for the newbies, so they'd learn pretty quickly that they were the little fish.
At some point, perhaps it would dawn on a few of the brighter ones that a "heaven" devoid of God or anything to do with Him, is, by logical necessity, essentially hell.
But this, while giving people what they think they want - or insist they have - is not necessary.
Just as you wouldn't want someone to enter your residence while despising and disrespecting you and your home, God has every right to say that we need to be spiritually cleaned up before entering into His Heaven (the real one).
Quite patiently, He spent over 1,500 years showing people that it was absurdly impossible for them to make (and keep) themselves spiritually clean enough to get into heaven by their own merit. He also gave these same people hundreds of "heads-ups" (aka prophecies) via 16 separate Old Testament prophets over many hundreds of years, that He was eventually going to send His own son to clean up the messes of those grateful enough to accept the One He sent to do the job.
To be saved, and fully granted an eternal place in heaven, they wouldn't even have to lift a finger to help!
They just had to demonstrate, from that point going forward, that Jesus was their Lord and Savior by having their lives changed enough to demonstrate that they really believed that. In turn, aside from eternal residence in heaven, they would also get all they would genuinely needed, unimaginable blessings on top of that, and never, ever, suffering again once they arrived in Heaven.
God sent His Son. Some accepted his offer of salvation, and some didn't.
The deal is this: If you want to spend eternity with God, in heaven, with all your needs and God-given desires fulfilled, and no more suffering after your time on Earth, and not going to hell, it's EASY: Genuinely accept God's son (Jesus Christ) as purchasing YOU from satan by his undeserved death on the cross, so you can be legally pardoned by God into His family and live forever with Him in heaven. Pretty simple, but you have to want it. While such grace is amazing to Christians, it's apparently either incomprehensible, intolerable, or otherwise unacceptable to many people. Some do all they can to ignore Him, and when that doesn't work, they try hard to disprove Him, despise Him, etc. You are free to do that, but ALL behaviors have some sort of consequence, and rejecting God or insisting you don't believe in Him is no different.
We act like 5 senses (all of which we are taught were developed entirely randomly through evolution) are sufficient to perceive enough to learn and then be able solve everything that needs to be learned/solved in order to fully know the universe.
For a question that stops atheists/evolutionists dead in their tracks is this: How do we know that it doesn't actually take 7, 19, or 42 different senses to perceive enough information from our world/universe in order to ultimately understand it and answer our most difficult questions about it (including our "God questions")?
      The answer is, we don't.

@Uploading Truth I dunno. Even at 5 years old we know the moral of the 3 little pigs when the brick house remains standing without critical thinking. Some of it is understanding bricks, some of it is trusting the authority that says bricks aren't blown down. Can we understand the parable of a house on the sand without analyzing it any more than a 5 year old?
In later years we'll try to tease parables for more content, but the basics remain, and even the mentally impaired can 'get' it. Maybe the wise can miss the point entirely.

    • @dandeleona4760
      @dandeleona4760 Рік тому

@Uploading Truth Not exactly. In the 3 pigs example, children don't entirely use critical thinking when they hear the story, they trust authority that this brick house holds better than the other houses. When we're older and know what bricks ARE, then we see the rationale behind the assertion, but not necessary when we believe 'like a little child'. And while adults despise the milk when there's meat, Jesus said no one enters unless their belief is like a little child.
As for the remark about teasing parables, that's another situation entirely in my argument, tho I didn't state it plainly. It's usually adult activity separate from the 'like a little child', because adults get bored with the surface house on sand story and seek to tease it apart to find more meaning in it. We start to go to the Greek and Hebrew word origins and get out the Concordance for other places those words were used, teasing meaning from those contexts, too. That's critical thinking, and I didn't say it was inferior, or not critical thinking, but that it's not essential to hearing or understanding a parable. Personally, I like critical thinking, but I also understand it can strangle a childlike faith. This whole ARGUMENT is critical thinking, but it's not about parable as much as what we want to do with them.
People who happen to like critical thinking want to use it everywhere and then tend to go on to assert it MUST be used everywhere. I see it most in so-called Apologetics which seeks to creates believers by brain not the Holy Spirit. I happen to like apologetics, but no one I know has been saved with it. Prayer for their salvation has been more effective. But Jesus understood not everything about His word is about the brain. Sometimes it's just trust and the heart, otherwise the mentally impaired or morally weak could not come to Him in strength of just trust. The wise would be foolish and the foolish wise. We are in that between world, not knowing we only understand a fraction of what He meant - even with critical thinking - a method which both expands and truncates what's there in the Spirit. That the Word CAN be expanded and truncated like that is one of the mysterious and wonderful features of Scripture.

Convincing comes later. Kinda like falling in love with anyone. We desire and make it a point to be around someone more and more, and from there we build the bond. I can't say I've seen anyone come to Christ with a logical argument, or fall in love that way either.

Sometimes the answer is not "yes" or "no", but rather "you asked the question incorrectly." This was recognized some Asian cultures where the three possible answers were "yes", "no", and "ko" -- the 'ko' implying something similar about the question being phrased in a loaded and threatening way and thus doesn't deserve an affirming or descending answer.

Hi Al. What do you mean by "superior"? We at STR certainly believe that all humans have inherent value because we are made in the image of God, and this should motivate Christians to act in love. It does not, however, overrule the gospel-that is, the truths we find in the Bible, particularly that there is only one way to salvation: trust and belief in Jesus Christ.

@@STRvideos Many thanks for your reply. I'll be brief.
The context for this is I have been looking at how non believers are seen by different religions. Probably having something to do with what's going on in the middle east.
Jews, it seems, believe they are chosen. (I kind of knew this but never spent much time thinking about the implications.) Therefore the rest of us are a little less then equal to them. Muslims, that everyone is born a muslin and later chooses to deny god, again making them different and one would imagine, better. Christians also have a belief that god gave them life and that non christians ought to somehow get on the good side of god as they themselves are. To save themselves.
None of them APPEAR to think that being born of womankind and living a moral life is enough. Which MUST effect every conversation between believer/non believer. Instead of looking us straight in the eye they are, in effect, looking down their noses at us. But we seldom hear this actually articulated by the religious UP FRONT in an honest way. No muslim, for instance, ever told me I SEE YOU AS SOMEONE WHO'S MADE THE UNACCEPTABLE CHOICE OF DENYING GOD. And no jew comes right out and says LOOK. YOU ARE NOT, NOR CAN YOU EVER BE ONE OF US CHOSEN. Its all hidden. There seems to be no concept of honesty or equity in this.
Am I right as far as your religion is concerned? Am I as good as you?

Hi again Al. Thanks for the brief reply. Unfortunately, I can only say so much as the social media manager. If you want a more complete answer or conversation, you will have to call in to the broadcast. I will respond to your comments, though.
Consider what Jews were and Christians are chosen for... mainly to represent God and be a light to others (for Christians, that includes sharing the gospel). Of course, we can't speak with authority on how other religions view "non-believers." But at the core of the Christian worldview is the reality of man's sinful nature, something we all share and that only Jesus can save us from. It's not about getting on the good side of God "as we ourselves are"-which implies Christians care only either about being correct and getting others to join in agreement with their views or about following rules and working our way to Heaven. According to the Bible, no one is "enough." That's the whole point. We cannot "save ourselves"-only Christ saves.
If our worldview is true, and we wish to love others, it would be unloving for us to turn a blind eye to false views in the name of tolerance and kindness. Sadly, there are those who do "look down" at others. Many such professing believers are legalists. Some may just be proud or have difficulty controlling their emotions in a heated conversation. But if we are to be consistent with the biblical worldview, we must recognize that we, too, "once were disobedient to God" (Romans 11), "once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another" (Titus 3:3), and this should bring a certain amount of humility.

I'm genuinely curious what your response would be to this answer of the first question: "do you think people who commit moral crimes aught to be punished?" Yes. But just because I think they should be punished, doesn't mean they will be. Many people get away with their crimes unpunished

    • @guardianmeister6650
      @guardianmeister6650 Рік тому +6

You have a good question. By the way I'm on board with Koukl (just so you know where I am coming from). One of the huge points of the Bible is that God is omniscient. A holy God. A just God. A true God. A perfect God ... MUST punish all bad/crimes/sin. While people here on earth cannot prove certain things or lack the means of enforcing some earthly justice, the God who is also omnipotent can and does when that person dies, exits the body and faces Him in eternity (if their sins are somehow not removed or taken out of the way ... they are taken out of the way by the sinner repenting of their sin (repentance toward God) and believing in His Son (faith in our Lord Jesus Chrish), whom he set forth as a perfect offering, the only one that can truly satisfy His Holiness and absorb His wrath).
At the risk of seeming to show off (or seem intellectual), I would like to challenge you with a very deep thought. Have you heard of FM radio? FM = frequency modulation. That's where some baseband signal (e.g. a recording of a voice or live voice) that is limited to say, 10 Khz range, is modulated and put on a high frequency carrier. Let's say 78 MHz, which is easily transmitted via a manageably sized antenna. The original voice frequency range would require an antenna the size of the Empire State building (transmit and receive). That's one of the reasons someone invented FM. Using a 78 MHz pure sine wave at the receiver, the FM can be de-modulated and the original voice signal recovered. Voila, you have transmitted someone's voice from here in the world to there, with very little delay!
So what does that have to do with anything? Many men commit sins and then "hide" those sins on a high frequency carrier, let's say 89.21483007892 MHz. To prove what they did, first you have to know what frequency they put their sins on. You have to know it EXACLY (in the purest mathematical sense, in reality there is some tolerance). Then you need the right demodulation scheme to recover and see what exactly they did. In the book of Revelation, the Scripture says that those who are not found in Christ will stand at a White Throne judgement seat, where all their sins will become obvious in light of Gods total and absolute perfection. White Light. The imagery is purity, clarity, perfection. Do you know what makes white light? True white light consists of light at ALL frequencies, including 89.21483007892 MHz. Demodulation at the exact carrier frequency will be performed, their sin recovered and presented back to them. They will know they are guilty and they will know they have been caught. They will know that their judgment is just. They will have done things they never wanted anyone else to do to them. But they were perfectly willing to dish it out, hide it and let other people bear the brunt.
God, in mercy, pleading with man to be reconciled to Himself, has made the perfect offering in Christ. He has made a way for sins to be taken out of the way and to face Him as Savior, not as Judge.

I would first ask what do you mean by moral crimes? Also, you are correct people get away with crimes unpunished all the time but if the God if the Bible is true then they are only getting away from their crimes for a short period. We are alive for a maximum of 120 years most will die well before their 90s. We are dead for a really really long time. It is in this dead time that their crimes will be paid for. The question is who is going to pay for it?
