My grandfather was a physicist who didn’t believe in God. He seemingly had a rational scientific explanation for everything. As he got older he shared with me that the more he tried to disprove the existence of God the more evident it became to him that God exists. In his final days he took solace in the fact that through his younger years of trying to disprove or explain away the devine God he actually proved his existence. Once he retired sometimes I would see him sitting for hours upon hours reading and studying the Bible when I would go visit him and my grandmother. He wanted to learn all he could about his creator. He would try to read anything he could get his hands on pertaining to Jesus Christ. His prayers were very important to him.
He was always a kind and funny person, but I noticed over the years after he found God he had this spark of life in him and he appreciated the nuances of life more. The man went to his grave baptized and a firm believer in God and his only begotten son. His life's journey had taken him home back to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All praise be to God the Almighty, through him all things are possible.

It’s way too long to type, but I eventually ended up here watching your videos for the past month. This video just rocked me. Haha
Edit: I wanted to share an update for everyone as this comment got a ton of unexpected attention. I gave my life over to Jesus again about a month after I posted this and have been a part of a bible study group since January 1. It’s truly amazing and personally unbelievable how much my life has changed for the better. Godhead
The first article of faith of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints states, “We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.” These three beings make up the Godhead. They preside over this world and all other creations of our Father in Heaven. Latter-day Saints view the members of the Godhead in a manner that corresponds in a number of ways with the views of others in the Christian world, but with significant differences. Latter-day Saints pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ. They acknowledge the Father as the ultimate object of their worship, the Son as Lord and Redeemer, and the Holy Spirit as the messenger and revealer of the Father and the Son. But where Latter-day Saints differ from other Christian religions is in their belief that God and Jesus Christ are glorified, physical beings and that each member of the Godhead is a separate being. The true doctrine of the Godhead was lost in the apostasy that followed the Savior’s mortal ministry and the deaths of His Apostles. This doctrine began to be restored when 14-year-old Joseph Smith received his First Vision (see Joseph Smith-History 1:17). From the Prophet’s account of the First Vision and from his other teachings, we know that the members of the Godhead are three separate beings. The Father and the Son have tangible bodies of flesh and bones, and the Holy Ghost is a personage of spirit (see Doctrine and Covenants 130:22). Although the members of the Godhead are distinct beings with distinct roles, they are one in purpose and doctrine. They are perfectly united in bringing to pass Heavenly Father’s divine plan of salvation.

I was born into a Muslim family and it was forced upon me. I never felt a connection to God. Never felt my soul being loved by God. Lost all faith in religion and adopted the mantra "do good be good" and still felt empty. I was beyond discouraged but I still believed there was a God. I believe in him because of how I got my name.
My parents went to get a pregnancy check up on me and it didnt go as planned. They wanted to run some more tests but some tests came back with news that one of three things would happen (I cant remember which one): I would be born with a hole in my heart, I would be born with scoliosis, or I would be born mentality handicapped and would need help my whole life.
Of course my parents where distraught and worried about their future child. My dad left the room to let my mom get some sleep and as she was sleeping, she heard someone call her name. She wakes up and looks around and doesnt see anyone. So she starts to relax and almost falls asleep again. She hears her name being called again. This time she shot up and was like ok maybe im just exhausted and anxious and im hallucinating because no one is here. Once again she starts to relax again and almost falls asleep and she said she heard "Amy. You will have a healthy baby boy and you will name him Jibril." This name has protected me during 9/11 because i was supposed to be named Hussein.
God has lead me to the path of salvation through suffering and even being disowned by them, he was guiding me to live according to his plan. I have never felt so spiritually, physically, and emotionally full until i accepted Jesus Christ this year. God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good.

You are another piece of evidence to me that there is God and don't worry we all have a chance of or for salvation. Jesus Christ came to being and resurrect. Which means he will be with us and continue showing us mercy through others means we might always ignore.

We all know on the sixth days of Creation that human being was created "male and female" right away, according to text, God or Gods mentioned "... and now we will make human beings; they will be like US and resemble US" (proof to me of all the races we have in this very planet), but our ancestors were created first then a Garden of Eden was made for them. Just sad they were disobedient as we are today.

I suppose the contentiousness is derived from people living side by sude evrry day fundementally disagreeing on how the universe came into being. Further disagreements include those of what laws should apply. I, quite honestly, aleays fail to take true believers seriously as the notion that God should have come into being spontaniously is no more likely than that the universe did. Furthermore that His principles have not stood the test of time (gender roles for example) must surely disproves his omnipitence, as he must surely have been aware those millenia ago that the world wood change. But the bible does not account for this.
Equally, you might argue this to be a point of contwntion with the church not God, to which i would reply that, if everyone is worshiping god wrong for fault of the church's misinterperetation, then even devoted christians must be doomed for hell.

The first part of Aquinas’ statement would imply that believers who do that measure the validity of their religion by the standards of non-believers. The fact that non-believers do not believe in a deity simply should not matter to believers. Period.

I was an atheist before I hit a car with a motorcycle on September 11, 2002. There was no logical reason I am currently alive today. They called me a miracle. I went into a six week coma as one person and awoke as someone totally different. In the last 22 years I have experienced God in so many different ways. To keep this short, I will tell of the most significant experience. I had been on a long drive, and about 20 miles from home, I had a deep feeling someone else was in the truck I was driving. The feeling cannot be described using the American language as it was far too intense to do so. It was so pure and yet so raw, a love which permeated every cell of my body. I cried as one would expect, and I never wanted this drive to end. If I could bottle this feeling and just give you a small sample, there would be no such thing as an atheist. I am now a speaker on this subject and would love to share my story. If ever you wonder what heaven will feel like, I know. Give God a chance.

    • @Wiggimus
      @Wiggimus Рік тому

@@jen6741 Okay, so I have issues with a couple of the things you said.
First, there's the "Jesus is required for salvation" bit. To me, that sounds like a mafia boss in a story who says "Nice place. It'd be a shame if something... bad happens here". Essentially, it's like you're saying that Jesus will save me from the things he'll do to me if I don't let him save me. I'm sure that you can see why I perceive that as a threat. If that were actually the case, I'm telling you now that I'd rather go to Hell. I'd rather go to the place where I'm not being threatened by someone who, according to his own book, has irrational anger issues.
More importantly, I don't have faith because faith is ultimately completely worthless. Literally any conclusion can be made through faith. I could potentially say that 1+1=5, entirely on faith. Or I could reach a harmful conclusion on faith, such as believing that there's a "superior skin color" or "superior genitalia". Those conclusions, which people actually have made on faith, are ultimately completely harmful and have led to immeasurable pain throughout history. So if you want me to believe in the existence of any specific gods or deities, then all you have to do is show me conclusive proof of said gods or deities. I likely won't ever show it worship, but I promise you that I would no longer be an atheist if I were to discover that one or more actual deities exist somewhere.
Lastly, no prayers are necessary on my behalf. You can wish for me to have a good day, though. Just like I'm going to do for you right now, because even though we have differing theological viewpoints, I genuinely hope that you have a great day.

@@Panagiotis_Vlachosthe study of the Bible is called theology, and it is a science. People asked questions about the Bible and its accuracy, so it was studied to get answers. Answers found to be facts can be questioned, but that doesn’t change if they’re true or not. The Bible is a historical document that covers real events that actually happened, and it is studied as such by many Bible scholars who read the oldest found versions of the Bible in Hebrew and Greek to understand the original meaning. The Bible can be studied as a science, and it is, because people take the faith seriously. The whole “answers that can’t be questioned” thing is invalid in my opinion. If I ask the color of the sky and you say blue, I can question if it’s actually blue all day long but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s blue. Science gives us answers that can’t be questioned, like how it’s just objectively true that the circumference of a circle is 2pir. I can question that all day long but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s real. With God, what He says is true because He says it. He created the world with His words, if He said the sky is purple, it would be purple. His word can be questioned, but nothing comes of it. What He says is just what reality becomes, His promises are woven into creation. They can be questioned, as you are clearly questioning them, but you don’t gain anything. You act as though questions that can’t be answered are better, but it isn’t just black and white. That’s like saying, if you saw someone get resurrected instantly before your eyes, that “well just cause I can’t explain what happened doesn’t mean God is real. Id rather have questions that can’t be answered than answers that can’t be questioned!” Would you watch the laws of physics be broken right in front of you and still say there’s nothing supernatural and no creator? Normally you hear “well if God showed himself to me I would believe him” but you admit that you don’t know how the universe created itself from nothing, then you’ve seen his miracle with your own eyes. What’s more unbelievable, the whole world being created on its own with perfect conditions for life and conscious beings, or one man rising from the dead? The creation of the universe breaks the laws of conservation of energy and the of conservation of mass, so I’d say the universe being created is more unbelievable, but I’m sure if you saw a dead man walk you would believe in God. You see the result of a much bigger miracle every day. You are living in a bigger miracle than the one you’re looking for.

Our SINS; including our unbelief and rebellion against Him have BROUGHT these things to us; because God says, "A curse WITHOUT CAUSE will NOT alight", or #2. We are going through something that; IF we go through it with a RIGHT and not SNOTTY attitude; we will find...maybe not right away...that there WAS or IS a purpose in it. ATTITUDE will determine MUCH of what we go through. WE can make this EASIER (Not easy; but easier); OR; we can make things unnecessarily MUCH HARDER. The choice is OURS. God is holy; He CANNOT do wrong; we are sinners; and can do very little BUT sin. The balance, or INBALANCE; between us...whose hearts are FILLED with anger; lust; perversion; addictions; murder; etc.. and a just, good; and holy God; who has no sin, couldn't be any clearer.
Let's not TRY HARDER to do and BE wrong; but to do and be more right. The FIRST step is NOT rebelling against God. God loves you; He truly does; but if you treat Him as though He's bad or wrong; then THAT WILL BE what you EXPERIENCE. It's not what really is; but it's what you will create for yourself....what WE all create for ourselves.

God created the universe. His explanation is that the universe couldn't have created the universe because that just doesn't make sense (correct me if I'm wrong), so it must have been some higher entity, aka God.
But did something create God? Was there something before God? Why was God there? Why is God here?

The biggest question all atheists typically ask is this: who created God? The simple answer is: God was not created, simply because God is the Creator not the creation and he is out of time-space continuum. It is like looking for Leonardo da Vinci in the Mona Lisa painting. You can admire his painting and understand his genius through his painting strokes but cannot look for the painter in the painting itself. So is with God. He created the Universe to perfection. We can admire it, study it through sciences but we cannot look for God in the Universe. All we can see is his strokes. He is out of it and out of time and space dimensions and the laws of Universe which he created in order for the Universe to run in equilibrium. @@machammer7454

So if you came to watch this debate only for the fun of it but without intention to learning something new than you have wasted your time and I am not surprised you have not learnt anything. I can say from personal experience that Jesus Christ is alive and has revealed himself to me through miracles that are tangible and non-disputable. Yet I know for sure that even that will not be enough and you will still not believe me. So do not waste your time if your modus operandi is to simply mock believers and call them childish. They may see you as childish too even though they at least have the delicacy to not say it to your face. Have you thought about that?! Hope one day you will realize how wrong you are. I was in a middle of a miracle when I was 10, my dad was a drinker, smoker and never went to chuch, but when he listened to Kent Hovind. He later studied everything if the evolution theory is wrong, went to buy more books about evolution and creation. He gave his heart to the Lord after that. He also started to read the Bible(KJV), he always said that it is the most accurate and was written out of the dead sea scrolls. I saw a miracle again, there was a trail of fire on the mountains it grew longer, visible to the naked eye. It almost burned our houses when it came closer everyday and night. I cried and prayed because my mom did the same thing. They said on the weather news that there won't be any rain after two weeks. There was just smoke all around us. I prayed and prayed and then i felt a drop of water, the smoke became rain clouds. The trail of Fire started to extinguished, there was also one fireman helicopter in our town and it couldn't just be that for that size of fire. It rained. It was in my home country, South Africa that it happened. My dad geve up everything to believe in God, and you told me he isn't real. I saw a lot of miracles, maybe atheist never saw a miracle or blame God of something in the past. I don't want to argue so I rather pray for them than fight. I also chose a hard path like being a Conservationist yet other people like me try to prove He doesn't exist, God works in mysterious ways, I don't even understand it but I feel he saved me a bunch of times and I didn't even thanked him enough. He save everybody even my grandpa who gave is heart to the Lord and past away the week after, I know where he is now and I know where I go at least in the afterlife.

This drink represents prayer, the spiritual water that lead us to eternal life. Holy Spirit is the master of prayer and He is often symbolized as a water. He invites you to pray! Don’t believe the lie that we are capable to struggle with our sinful nature and prevail.
We need Christ because by his righteousness we are granted access to God’s presence once more but also it is his victory on the cross that destroys the sinful nature in our life.
Our faith in Christ doesn’t mean we wont struggle with sin as we still live in a world corrupted by sin, but because of our new nature in Christ we can be empowered by the presence of God (Holy Spirit) to overcome, we must find peace in him.
We remain on this earth after coming to know the truth by the very same mercy of God.
It is by his mercy that he withholds judgement of the world to give all an opportunity to come to Him.
He is unwilling that any would be lost.
As Paul says it is our honor to suffer for the glory of God that in following the command of Christ we as the body can do our part in bringing the lost to know hope in him.
I say these things with love!
I struggled many years with what you are describing.
There is hope, don’t stop pursuing God’s presence and truth, he will be made known to you in the depth of your being.
Once that occurs nothing can rock you or remove you from his presence, only by his will and strength not your own.

Secondly, lets assume that God created the created part of the Universe. Ok, so what? Even Richard Dawkins admitted that a case could be made for a Deistic God, prime mover, etc... But this is a very very far cry from Christianity, Judaism, Islam and other religions based on Holy Books. Even IF the "world" has been created, that doesn't prove your Bible God did it.

Because those are people who are always praying, who are always remembering God, you know, who are always giving charity, who dress modestly, who don't go to bars and clubs and sleep around. You don't like them because they are people with conservative values who take morality seriously, who love God. That'll make you look bad.
So you have to redefine all of that as oppression to make your opposition to morality look like a moral stance. You have to pretend that we are against freedom because we exercise freedom responsibly and in a principled manner. Because freedom to you actually just means irresponsibility and decadence. And again, this is why “kuffar”-because it's lying, changing words for other words, mischaracterizing things to obscure reality. But you wouldn't do that if you thought you were right. You wouldn't have to be dishonest if you thought you were right. You wouldn't have to use deceitful language to make immoral things sound moral, if you didn't know, on some level, that you're wrong.
Shaytan taught you this because that's how he pitches it to you. He makes the evil seem good because human beings want to be good, and they don't want to be evil in their heart of hearts. So, he (Shaytan) redefines immorality as morality, and then you run with it. But you know you're wrong, and that's really why Muslims make you so uncomfortable. And why you have to talk about the Taliban and all that to convince yourself that Shaytan's propaganda is true. So you can rationalize your disobedience to God as a good thing, rationalize the moral decay of your societies as a virtuous thing. It's a breathtaking level of dishonesty, and it's going to let you down. It is letting you down, and it is by far the most oppressive way to live your life. Because ultimately, immorality, irresponsibility, and selfishness are truly tyrannical and damaging. And the moral discipline that Muslims live by, the Sharia, is liberating and empowering.
So you have to call what we follow oppressive, just to keep yourself from facing the oppression that you are actually under. [end]

I needed a hardly laugh today, thank you😂 He's an excellent speaker and I'm sure, a very lovely gentleman....not much destroying going on though.
If confirmation bias is what you seek, this will be excellent...but there are phenomenal answers and arguments to everything said here, that require no emotion or faith.
And the Christian morality argument literally had me laughing out loud🤣
Forgive the apparent snark of my comments...I was a christian for 42 years, deep in it my entire life. Completely unwavering, no doubts/questions...I knew all the answers and explanations and BELIEVED them to my core (in fact, tattoos to help spread the message of Jesus and start conversations)! Nothing happened, no deaths, traumas...didn't want an excuse to sin or any of the other terribly silly reasons Christians (including myself previously) had been taught are why. I was completely content in my faith. For the vast majority of people who go through religious deconstruction, it's starts with one thread, one quest...and eventually it all unravels. I went through months and months of agony, sobing and crying out to god to give me something, anything to pull be back and turn my course back into his arms. Welp, here I am a couple of years (and an immense amount of much deeper biblical/historical knowledge) down the road and no one in my very sincerely Christian, genuinely wonderful family has a clue. I honestly kept waiting for my mother to get some kind of holy spirit bat signal that I was in trouble spiritual...she still has no clue and I haven't felt it necessary to tell her. I know all the lines, I know all the answers and I regret all the things I've thought and said to others who left Christianity in the past...I was so off base and I'm sure most of you will think the same things I used to. Reading this, I would have felt incredible sadness for the writer of this and would have prayed for them...but rest assured, I'm happier and feel more whole as a person than at any point previously in my life.
And for the record, I do still watch these videos that profess to offer the best, most brilliant arguments for god with an open mind...pull the thread and never be afraid to follow the truth, no matter where it may lead. God's big enough to handle it, right🤷‍♂️

      1. Proof of God: The Law of Cause and Effect. This law of science states that every cause has its effect and every effect has its cause. This law is the basis of all science. As such, this law bears a relationship to the origin of the heavens and the earth. In fact, scientists agree that the universe has not existed forever, that it had a beginning at some point in time.
The theory of relativity, which is almost universally accepted among scientists, has certain implications for this Law of Cause and Effect. One is that the universe-defined as time, space, matter, and physical energy-had a beginning, that it is not eternal. And it is through Einstein’s equations that scientists can trace the development of the universe back to its very origin, back to what is called the “singularity event” when it actually came into being. Science has proven that the universe really did have a beginning. This means that if the universe had a starting point in history, then it obviously began to exist, and it must have a cause for its existence.
Therefore, if the universe needs a cause for its coming into being, then that cause must be beyond the universe-which is time, space, matter, and physical energy. That cause must be something similar to what Christians call “God.” Even Richard Dawkins, probably the most prominent proponent for atheism in our time, admitted in a TIME magazine article that “there could be something incredibly grand and incomprehensible and beyond our present understanding.” Yes, and that is God!
We can best summarize this cosmological evidence with the following statements:
      (1) Whatever begins to exist must have a cause for its existence.
      (2) The universe began to exist.
      (3) Therefore, the universe must have a cause for its existence.
      (4) The attributes of the cause of the universe (being timeless, existing outside of space, and so on) are the attributes of God.
      (5) Therefore, the cause of the universe must be God (Genesis 1:1).
      2. Proof of God: The Law of Teleology. Teleology is the study of design or purpose in natural phenomena. This law of science essentially means that when an object reflects a purpose, goal, or design, it must have had a designer. Simply put, things do not design themselves. This holds true for the things in the universe, which proves that it had to have a Designer.
For example, the earth in orbiting the sun departs from a straight line by only one-ninth of an inch every 18 miles-a very straight line in human terms. If the orbit changed by one-tenth of an inch every 18 miles, it would be vastly larger, and we would all freeze to death. If it changed by one-eighth of an inch, we would be incinerated. The sun is burning at approximately 20 million degrees Celsius at its interior. If the earth was moved 10% farther away, we would soon freeze to death. If it were moved 10% closer, we would be reduced to ashes. Are we to believe that such precision “just happened”? Think about it: the sun is poised at 93 million miles from Earth, which happens to be just right. Did this happen by chance or by design? It’s no small wonder that the psalmist alludes to God as the grand designer: “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. . . . [The sun] rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other” (Psalm 19:1, 6).
      3. Proof of God: The Laws of Probability and Fulfilled Prophecy. There are 1,093 prophecies in the Bible that refer to Jesus and His Church, and each one of those prophecies was fulfilled! The Old Testament contains 48 prophecies that pertain to the crucifixion of Jesus. When applying the laws of probability to calculate the likelihood of several events taking place at or near the same time, all probabilities have to be multiplied together. For example, if the probability of a single event occurring randomly is 1 chance in 5 and the probability of a separate event occurring is 1 chance in 10, then the probability that both events will occur together or in sequence is 1 in 5 multiplied by 1 in 10, which yields 1 in 50.
In considering the fact that several different prophets who lived in separate communities over a span of a 1,000 years made predictions of Christ 500 years before His birth, the odds against these prophecies coming true are simply beyond our wildest comprehension. For example, the chances of one man (Jesus) fulfilling just 8 of the prophecies attributed to Him are one in 10 to the 17th power (that’s a number 1 with 17 zeroes).
Consider this: imagine covering the entire state of Texas with silver dollars to a level of two feet deep. The number of silver dollars needed to cover the whole state would be 10 to the 17th power. Mark one silver dollar with an “X” and drop it from an airplane. Then thoroughly stir all the silver dollars all over the state. Then blindfold a man and tell him he can travel wherever he wishes in the state of Texas. Then somewhere along the way, he is to stop and reach down into the two feet of silver dollars and pull up the one silver dollar that has been marked with the “X.” What are the chances of his doing this? The same chance the prophets had of eight of their prophecies being fulfilled in any one man in the future (based on the work of Peter W. Stoner and Robert C. Newman in Science Speaks: Scientific Proof of the Accuracy of Prophecy and the Bible [Chicago, IL: Moody Press, 1963, pg. 101-109].)
The Bible with all its fulfilled prophecies proves the existence of God. Through the law of probability and the mathematical odds of prophecy being fulfilled, we can know assuredly that there was a divine Designer and Author of the Bible. The same One who brought the universe into existence. “You may say to yourselves, ‘How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?’ If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously” (Deuteronomy 18:21-22).
Finally, God, the Creator of the universe and Author of our salvation tells us, “Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please” (Isaiah 46:9-10).

I am comfortable with keeping an open mind on how the universe was created and how the fundamental laws of nature came into existence. Until we know the answers to questions, we should keep an open mind to these questions.
However, I will make a few observations.
    1. Everything we have ever discovered about the universe has come to have a natural explanation rather than a supernatural one. The cause of the Big Bang and the creation of the laws of the natural world may have a supernatural cause but it will be entirely unique.
    2. If we do eventually find that the the creation of the universe was indeed the action of a supernatural being, we move the problem back to how did this supernatural being come to existence. 'It has always existed' is an unsatisfactory answer.
    3. If we do come to discover that a supernatural being caused the universe and put in place the laws of nature, there is still a hell of a leap from that to a personal God who has a relationship with one species of primates, answers their prayers and provides them eternal life.
    4. And finally, if there is such a being with such a relationship with humans, why is it the one specific God of the Christian bible and not one of the other many God's that we have worshipped over the centuries?

O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, "Three"; desist - it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs. An-Nisa':171

They have certainly disbelieved who say, " Allah is the third of three." And there is no god except one God. And if they do not desist from what they are saying, there will surely afflict the disbelievers among them a painful punishment. Al-Ma'idah:73
