My mother was very religious. She used to read revelations to me as a bed time story. I lived a terrified childhood. Anyways, she told me that the people back then had a very blind perspective of the world because they didn't have science, telescopes, spaceships, etc. Their idea of the whole world was probably rather small. She said the whole world probably did not flood, but just a whole region that their small minds perceived as the whole world. The flood extended as far as the people knew to be their entire world. So supposedly Noah just rounded up the animals of the local area and some still were probably missed but existed elsewhere....which is more believable. She described how inaccurate most stories are from back then because of the small mindedness and lack of knowledge the people suffered from. She said you'd have to read between the lines with the Bible because the authors were ignorant.
My poor sweet mother was a strange religious fanatic. She said southern baptists were pagans. Actually everyone but her was a pagan, a witch, or satanic. She had a much more cosmic view of God. That always stuck with me. Changed a bit when cancer got her though.
God answered her prayers many times. I read a prayer of hers that was written before I was born. She asked for a perfect description of me when she wanted a child. Well, she got me. But when the cancer got her, she begged for God to heal her. I read the prayers and they were so sad. All of her talk of reading between the lines didn't change the fact that she brought up God's healing power stories in her prayers. My mother once told me that I would go to hell for listening to the backstreet boys. She was devout and God didn't spare her suffering. Preachers told me that she was just so devout that God wanted her to come home.

But she was a fanatic, and in the end it don't save her. All her actions did was push me away from religion. Now I have a cynical view on life & have no faith in established religion. I follow my own beliefs.
I grew up bouncing from religion to religion, denomination to denomination. No church or religion was ever devout enough for my mother. Did you see the part about how every church was into paganism or witchcraft in her eyes? I grew up having to allow old men to wash my feet. Looking back on that with my adult knowledge, a man with a foot fetish very well could have been getting off on that. Once we had to handle snakes, and I was terrified. Luckily God saw me as a true believer and chose to not let the snake bite me. I never got a Halloween as a child, now I go all out for it. Christmas was also not allowed, neither was Easter.
Religion was so drilled into my head that I was a fool. I survived a school shooting, but only because a wise teacher threw me into a classroom. The religion drilled into my head made me think that I could talk to the shooter about the love of the lord & pray with him. I was on my way to do just that when I was saved.
See, I don't mind people being into religion. Whatever brings comfort, ya know? But not to the point where it makes children into fools. It took many years to fix the damage that had been done.

Understand the common bible, was an infomercial for legalised murder and meat eating. For Rome had a huge economy for meat eating and killing of animals. The common bible that is so easily found in many different versions increasingly throughout the generations, was wholly amalgamated by Rome, by Constantine and his self elected council of Nicaea, who also changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday. They stole from Authentic Hebrew sources, then referenced Gospel of the Nazarenes, which Yeshua whom they gave the name Jesus, had His happenings and sayings secretly recorded by His brother James the Just and mother Mary, amalgamated by John in prison. Made the New Testament, and burnt every copy available and killed many then, with one secret copy hidden in Tibet that was rediscovered in 1870’s by Friar Placidus, who translated it on his way back from Aramaic to Latin.
Yeshua fed melons for example and bread in that Gospel to the thousand and cured their fever. Not fish. He stopped Judah from killing a lamb at the Last Supper, for He was the sacrificial lamb, for Moses in his error and rage allowed some of the Israelites to eat meat, that carried on for a few generations.
So Yeshua was trying to bring about Isaiah 11: 6-9. Read that, and you will start to understand the common book, was an infomercial for legalised murder and meat eating. For Rome had a huge economy for meat eating and killing of animals. But in the beginning it was not so. The book, if you like to understand, had areas where it was allowed to be modified, For eg: When satan was allowed to negotiate Job's sufferings, so in some areas he wasn't able to influence the book makers at 325AD, because Heaven didn’t allow it. Like the saying goes, not one hair will drop from your head, if it wasn't allowed. So some books in the bible, was not allowed to be corrupted coming from Heaven, and so on earth it wasn't allowed. Another example, read Matt 5: 17 -20, then read Romans 10:4. Complete contradiction to one another's message. Paul is a fake apostle, the ultimate weapon of Rome against believers at the time.

Evidence the New Testament is fictatious: “And in every case they discuss the bread but they don’t mention anything about fish. So I think that fish is a later addition. In fact, if you even look at the New Testament, it says, at another point, when Jesus is talking about the feeding of the five thousand, he says, ‘Don’t you remember when I fed the multitudes and all the bread that we took up?’ And he doesn’t mention the fish.
The horse leg is also revealed (Horse leg is a saying to say a horse is pretending to be a human, but is exposed) in every version of the bible today:
Matthew 16:9 New International Version Yeshua said: 9 Do you still not understand? Don’t you remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered? Where the fish at?
Mark 8:16-21 New International Version 16 They discussed this with one another and said, “It is because we have no bread.”
17 Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: “Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened?
18 Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember?
19 When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?” “Twelve,” they replied.
20 “And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?” They answered, “Seven.”
21 He said to them, “Do you still not understand?” Where is the mention of fish He supposedly broken up too. In the original Gospel where the New Testament is referenced from, Gospel of the Nazarenes, it was bread and melons, and fruits. They removed that in the first versions of the Bybaal, sorry, bible.

It's funny seeing you losers bash the bible as if you go with science when you can't even make it past the first verse with God creating.
Real science says nothing does nothing. Real science says if there was something there already it must fit with the evidence of what we know. We know the 1LT says there's a conservation of energy. It can change forms and neither can be created or destroyed. Creation cannot happen by natural means. The 2LT has various aspects, one being the universe is winding down, entropy. Usable energy is becoming less usable, so at one point usable energy was at its max. This all points to a supernatural creation, by a supernatural creator at a certain point in which matter, space, and time were created. When I read how it can happen otherwise, ALL the fools resort to science-fiction. Once a supernatural creation is accepted, then the next step is finding proof of what supernatural power did it. We KNOW these laws. We have NO doubts about them. We also KNOW that the laws of nature can't come about without a Lawgiver, God.
So if you want to pretend to be smart, please give me the laugh by giving your science how creation really happened by natural means. Also, throw in how we got the laws of nature, naturally.

When your born and raised in this religion that explanation works just fine until puberty. That's when all hell breaks loose, the scary part is the psychological pressures and changes you undergo can be very dangerous to mental development and your life in general. I considered suicide as a teen when my life long JW friends stopped associating with me. I became the bad guy when I grew my hair, went to my Prom and got a girlfriend. The religion is so restrictive it feels like everything is a sin including suicide so that wasn't an option. and yes college was frowned upon but we were told for a totally different reason. We were told the bad association with worldly people in college would ruin our useful habits. As an adult, debating with family and friends who are still believers I realize its about keeping you away from higher education. instead relying on a group at the top of the organization called "society" to tell you what to think. The internet has changed things though, having so much education at your finger tips its harder convince people to believe nonsense. I agree with you they pick and choose what science to believe. Over all they are good people. In many ways I think I learned to be a kind person and a good public speaker. But the detachment from reality and fact is astounding when your on the outside looking in and looking back at my mental infancy.

Put it this way, if the base gravity in the universe was off, even by 1/1x10^40, either up or down in power, the formation of stars would be impossible. @ he’s an uncaused cause. Put it this way, you failed a math test in school, and you ask yourself “why did I fail?”, so then you go back through your memories to where you first messed up, which is not studying. Now, not studying can be caused by just not wanting to do it, meaning that your feeling of not wanting to do it would be the primary cause of failing, an uncaused cause. God is the same way. The universe has an origin, and we can retrace that origin to the Big Bang, as matter HAD to have been released at the speeds, and heat they were. But you also have to consider LIFE. On earth, every single instance of life, has come from other life forms. We’ve NEVER seen life come from non-life, and because of that, there must be a creator who created that life, otherwise it couldn’t exist, as life can only come from life.

A lot of people complain about his title as if a short title expresses his entire point. Titles are short by necessity. UA-cam videos have MORE section where the uploader of the video can use more words to express their position. The following quote is from the MORE section of this video:
"God cannot lie. When his word touches on science and history, it is infallible. These two all or nothing claims are what many Christians (myself included) were raised to believe. Therefore, if after a thorough examination we find just one story to be fallacious, the entire Bible no longer has the right to be referred to as being both inspired and infallible."
Here is his logic expanded a bit.
    1) Religious Claim: The entire bible is both inspired and infallible.
That is, all of the bible was inspired by god, and god cannot lie and cannot make an error, so therefore, all of the bible is necessarily true and infallible.
    2) Logic: If someone can show any story in the bible that is not infallible, then the above claim ("The entire bible is both inspired and infallible") is refuted.
    3) Him: I showed a story in the bible that is fallacious, and therefore demonstrated that the claim is false.
    4) Him (oddly worded about not having the "right", but): Since I showed the claim "the entire bible is both inspired and infallible" is false, people no longer have the right to refer to the entire bible as being both inspired and infallible.

You should wonder if what you read in your translated bible is what the original authors have wrote in the origins.
I am sure theology had too much chances to fiddle with the original accounts, and western translators did a poor work.
Concerning Balaam and the talking donkey.
I don't think the original accounts were speaking about a talking donkey.
According to ancients opinion about Balaam, he was considered as a non-Israelite soothsayer. According to modern textual criticism, about 90% of biblical scholars who support the "Documentary Hypothesis" (DH, google it), this portion of the tale is different from the Yahwist version of the story. In their opinion, the Yahwists deliberately assume that the donkey actually spoke, and that the whole episode was designed to mock Balaam. Evidently the Yahwists did not like the non-Jewish prophets (Balaam wasn't an Israelite), and their text is much harsher regarding Balaam than the Elohists' text.
The paragraphs immediately preceding and following this episode seem to have an elohist matrix.

Except this entire concept is a misunderstanding of different religions as, as such, is either ignorance or the willful distortion of facts. For example, while the Qu’ran is considered the literal word of G-d, the Torah is not. It is believed to be “inspired by” G-d (or however you’d like to put it). Some people take this literally, some look at this metaphorically and historically. But the problem is that many of the people critical of religion conflate these two things (and much, much more) and then claim some sort of superiority of knowledge.
So you have atheists ridicule western religion based on “they worship some old white guy with a beard” and yet Islam and Judaism have no such thing and even Christianity has a more complex view than that. So who is more ignorant: someone who puts their words into someone else’s mouth and then pronounce themselves intellectually superior? Or is it the person who actually knows what they and others believe and can critique that in context? I think most people know the answer to this and this is why I find religious fundamentalists and atheistic fundamentalists to be equally ignorant. They’re amazing similar actually.

A Christian said, “You do realize the bible is to be used as a guide/inspiration and not everything in it is supposed to be taken literally? Especially regarding the Old Testament.”
If god doesn't put qualifying comments ahead of allegorical parts, noting that they are not to be taken literally, then how are people supposed to know which parts are supposed to be taken literally and which are not?
You mean to tell us that an all-powerful being is incapable of getting a simple single-sentence comment written for him, in his own permanent message to all humankind? He can poof an entire universe into existence by just speaking, but getting his followers to write a single needed sentence is beyond his abilities?!?!
    Also ..
    1. All scripture is God-breathed (see 2 Timothy 3:16)
Therefore, everything in the bible should be true, as written … as “breathed” by God.
    2. Humans are not allowed to add to the bible, nor are they allowed to subtract from the bible (see Deuteronomy 4:2 and Revelation 22:18-19, which deal specifically with biblical commands and prophecy).
Therefore, humans are not allowed to change what the bible says.
    3. Humans cannot know the mind of God (see 1 Corinthians 2:11)
Therefore, humans have only what the bible says to go by - humans can’t say, “God said X, but he meant Y”, or “God did not say anything about Z, but I know what he would say about Z”.
Since the bible does not state that the Genesis Flood Myth is supposed to be taken metaphorically or allegorically, then is not supposed to be taken metaphorically/allegorically. You claiming is to be taken allegorically has you claiming that God “breathed” wrong for the flood story, that you can add to or subtract from the bible (in a way that dramatically changes what it means), and that you do know the mind of God.

One question I've always had was what happened to the marine reptiles such as the ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs, and the mosasaurs? I remember studying these animals in school and asking my parents why don't they exist today. I was told that God used the flood to get rid of dinosaurs. Although marine reptiles such as the ichthyosaurs are technically not dinosaurs since they've evolved from a different ancestor, on that same line of reasoning why would they supposedly disappear during the flood? Makes no sense. Surely a flood wouldn't cause massive aquatic reptiles to die considering that they thrive in water. So why dont they exist today? I never got an answer to that. Also on another note, are we really to believe that all the ethnicities that exist today came from 1 family and their incestuous ties? Even the whole premise of Noah preaching about a downpour when the very nature of heavy rain was a foreign concept to people living then seems brutally unfair. How could a loving God cause the destruction of not only grown men, but women and children for not believing in something they've never seen before?? It's like telling people that the sky will fall. And then taking their lives because they ignore you. INSANE.

It’s obvious that the story of the flood and Noah’s ark all started when a child was with his father tending their goats in the hills above their village, saw a fish fossil at the top of the hill, the tallest hill in the whole world as far as they knew, having never traveled more than a few miles from their village, and said “Hey dad, how did this crusty dried up fish end up here, so far from the sea and at the top of the tallest hill. The dad guesses that water must have flooded the whole earth at some point and when the waters receded it left the fish behind. But the boy then asked “but then wouldn’t all animals and people have died”. I’m sure god wouldn’t want to destroy his creation so they must have all survived on a big boat.
Ditto for the story about god punishing the lizard by taking away its legs so it would have to crawl on its belly, creating snakes. It turns out snakes have vestigial legs the bones of which ancient people would have been well aware of.
They are all just stories to try to explain things to children whom too many questions.

It's not completely parable. It's just been translated to reflect the stupidity of the Catholic church. It never says it was a global flood in the Hebrew. Words translated as mountains mean hills. The "whole world" just means the world at large. It's the same phrase used to describe the famine in Egypt and the locust plague. The flood only effected the fertile crescent valley and its target was the chosen Adam lineage that received the "breath of life". Not all mankind. There is Genesis 1 Adam, all mankind created by the elohim, and there is Genesis 2 Adam, a special lineage made special by Yehowah. And Genesis 4, which is a particular man. Christ's birth is compared to the Genesis 2 Adam meaning Genesis 2 Adam had a mother and a father template. These are the ones given the breath of life and hence having the very long lifetimes. Cain and Seth went on to marry woman from the rest of humanity. Just like Noah's sons. The blood was diluted and their lifespans shrunk over generations. Now you can still call it mythology, but the myth is not being properly represented by the masses. There is parallel in the Sumerian myths (the place Abraham came from) and with the discovery of the Burkle crater impact it's very possible this flood did occur around 4800kya. The duration of it does sound exaggerated though.

They were so narrow minded and uninformed that the Believe the our galaxy ( the Milky way ) was the entire universe... All that changed when Edwin Hubble discovered another galaxy in 1923-1924. Not only did he discovered another galaxy but he noticed the the Universe was expanding. Bible readers over the ages knew that the universe had a beginning and that the universe is expanding... In the book of Genesis God also said that fruit tress will produce fruits with it own seed... Meaning that a oranges fruit seed will not produce a Peach tree... Basic Christianity evidence
This is the truth no sugar coating. This is a cumulative case for why Christianity is the one true worldview.
Sources will include books, UA-cam Videos, debates, and quick TikTok for those with little time.
IF Christianity is true would YOU become a Christian? If yes thank you for seeking truth. If no it must be because of subjective objections to God which are irrelevant because if God is real his morality is objectively true which makes any objections to it false. For the truth seekers still here please look into this stuff. Also what do you have to lose? If you find this claim to be true you have answered the biggest question in the universe. If you find it to be false your life has no objective meaning anyway so the time you spent researching wouldn’t technically matter.
First of all whoever is reading this Jesus loves his creation died as a sacrifice for the punishment for our sins so we can attain eternal life through him. All you have to do is accept that gift and follow him. If Christianity is false you live an objectively purposeless life so by researching and win and lose nothing. If Christianity is true and you reject you receive punishment for your sins which is eternal separation from God and everything that has to do with God’s nature commonly known as hell. Some atheists who are wise in saying this would say “even if I didn’t agree with the Christian God I would worship and submit to him out of fear anyone with intelligence would.” The problem is you must also love God as well to be saved. We are called to fear the Lord but also to love him. It isn’t contradictory either let me explain. In a similar way we’re supposed to love and fear our fathers on earth. With God we are called to love and fear him MORE than anything on earth. If Christianity is true you discover the BIGGEST answer to the BIGGEST question in the entire known universe. Before any of your objections come into play if Christianity is true they don’t matter. They literally are objectively irrelevant if Christianity is true. Remember this, just because you don’t like the truth doesn’t mean it isn’t true. Also many people don’t fully understand the faith and have MANY misconceptions that if they actually did research on the Christian point of view rather than just looking into atheistic objections, (most of the time for confirmation bias) then they would see why I and millions of others believe so strongly. I’m not telling you to take my word for it. I urge you to research. I’m confident enough in the cumulative evidence that anyone seeking truth and seeking God will find him.
My personally reasons for faith (which isn’t evidence, it’s just my testimony.)
The reason I believe and have faith in that belief (faith is trust and/or confidence in a belief) is because of the evidence, the probability of a creator, eye witness testimony to miracles, people’s life experience, everything we as humans know about science, the laws of logic especially cause and effect, and my life experience. I’ve witnessed miracles, signs, and wonders science could never explain. I used to be an apathetic and at times hostile agnostic atheist who claimed to seek truth, but there were times when I saw compelling Christianity evidence and I would seek instant confirmation bias (even if it wasn’t plausible) so I could sleep at night. Don’t be one of those people. Seek truth despite all irrelevant subjective objections. Objective truth is what matters. Quick question, how do you know Jupiter exists? The pictures and testimonies from people? Couldn’t it all be doctored and lies? Don’t use the “I don’t have full proof God exists” when we simply don’t have full proof many things exist. One of the main reasons I started seeking truth and God until I found overwhelming evidence for the Christian God was I simply did not have enough faith to be an atheist.
*Evidence for you to look into. I’m confident in the cumulative evidence that I believe anyone seeking truth with their bias aside will see the overwhelming evidence for Christianity after checking out the things below.
      Evidence:
Look into the resurrection evidence, the fine tuning argument, the moral argument, the teleological argument, the cosmological argument. The sophisticated complicated language of DNA. The origins of life. Think about how things like purpose and love seem like they actually matter rather than being irrelevant chemical reactions. Look into the law and order of the known universe. The only reason we can even do science the way we do is on the assumption the universe has order. Look into Biblical prophecy, look into Christian miracles, eye witness testimony to miracles, life testimonies from Christians, Watch near death experiences where people see Jesus or heaven and hell (especially from former atheists), look into Jesus’ impact on society such as what year we are in right now and why, look into the historical evidence of Christianity, look into the science stated in the Bible before humans discovered it. Look into the archeological evidence for Christianity. Look into the laws of logic especially cause and effect and how that would point to a creator along with many other things. That should give you a great place to start if you are skeptic, you shouldn’t just trust me on the matter. You should seek out all these things to the fullest.*
A less sophisticated atheist/agnostic might take this approach:
“If God is real he knows what will convince me.” This is fallacious for several reasons but one is that you’re assuming God hasn’t put all the evidence out there for us to find. It’s presupposing God wants truth to seek us and for us not to seek truth. All the evidence of human history has clearly refuted that faulty thinking. I would also ask the atheist/agnostic how much research have you done with an open mind? God says a heart seeking him finds him so are you researching with the point of view that you’ll accept and worship God if he’s true? Have you read apologetics books? Have you watched intelligent Christian theists debates, lectures, or conversations? Have you read the Bible and studied it’s context? Have you studied archeological findings from the Bible proving biblical stories true? Ect.
If you research this while pursuing nothing but the truth with an open heart with all objections aside you will find God. I personally don’t have enough faith to be an atheist. It requires much more faith to deny all of the evidence towards theism and believe one of the many fallacious explanations of what was before the Big Bang. I’m confident enough in the evidence where I can advise people to research and seek truth themselves, rather than just take my word on it. Anyone who has “evidence against Christianity” I urge them to type in what that evidence is and watch a Christian apologist refute it. The Bible says those who seek God, find him.

@@dollarbill141 less important than the specific version is how it is interpreted. The Catholic Church has never, in its 2000 year history, espoused a form of Biblical literalism that only looks at a strictly literal interpretation without considering historical context, genre of writing, literary devices, and so on. Consider that the Big Bang theory was proposed by a Catholic priest. Consider that in Catholic theology, one is not required to assume that the flood of Noah was a global flood, though we are free to hold that view if we desire (personally, I do not). When criticizing a Christian position, you would do well to consider that there are literally thousands of Christians denominations, and though all agree on certain things, there is a great breadth of belief on such things as evolution and the how the world came into existence.

It is no wonder that ancient people around the world would tell stories about killer floods: such floods have been occurring from time to time for thousands of years, doing so all over the face the Earth. And to pre-scientific, superstitious people, of course a lot them would attribute the disasters to gods.
Killer floods have occurred throughout history. In 1931 alone deadly floods in China drowned well over 100,000 people (and many more then died from diease and lack of food that were caused by the flood). In 2004 a flood from a tsunami triggered by an earthquake near Sumatra killed almost 250,000 people, and in 2011 in Japan, a flood from a tsunami killed about 20,000 people. All 3 of those killer floods occurred in just the last 100 years.
Also, there were much larger megafloods related to glaciers at different points in history, but we don't know how many people were killed in them. In Iceland, volcanoes under glaciers caused the glaciers to catastrophically fail, and massive floods scoured the region causing large-scale changes in landscape. Three recent floods in Iceland caused by this mechanism occurred about 1,350 years ago, about 1,500 years ago, and about 3,500 years ago. In the United States, between about 13,000 and 15,000 years ago, ice dams holding back the enormous Glacial Lake Missoula gave way multiple times and megafloods scoured the region, creating the landscape we call the Scablands. And near England, some 450,000 years ago, glaciers at the northeast formed a huge lake, and when the chalk land bridge connecting what is today England and France collapsed, a megaflood scoured out the terrain that is now at the floor of the English Channel.

Even when I was still a believer myself, I thought it was odd people were determined the ark was still out there somewhere. By the stories own logic, the ark would have been the only source of dry wood for some time post event and would definitely have been cannibalized for fire wood and shelter, and it takes time for plants to grow back. Also, what did the carnivores eat? I've seen it said elsewhere that a lot of those species left on the ark would have been eaten into extinction very quickly. There are just so many nonsensical aspects to this story that it's really no surprise they try to sell it so hard, because if you can buy this, what won't you?

    • @kristianderson6725

Well are you really asking and searching? The ark was huge they might have used for a few weeks, and plenty of easy accessible wood inside already cut for fires for a couple months. Also it was rested on a mountain, and people don't farm mountains (or they didn't 4000 years ago), so they probably settled in valleys taking trips to mountain is rough just to get firewood.
Wood can dry out pretty fast next to a fire.
There could be a number of other explanations like glacier or it was frozen. dust deposits, etc...
About food on the ark, in hibernation animals consume less, panda bears eat only bamboo, are you sure the animals taken on the ark only ate meat? Also there were "rooms". And yes, its also possible that some of the animals that were taken are extinct, because they were tracked and eaten. but not just 2 of every animal were taken, 7 of clean ones were taken also.
      Anyway ....
I doubt this is the only stumbling block to your faith, so if they did find the ark, would you be a christian again? honestly? Could this be an excuse? Whats the actual stumbling block keeping you from the faith?
      wrapping up ...
So, can you honestly tell me this, which is more likely: 1. a global flood (where you would expect to find similar fossils in similar layers all over the world and huge deposits like cambrian explosian, nothing then all the sudden tons of stuff), or 2. oort clouds that mysteriously spit out comets because there is no way a comet can survive millions not alone billions of years (its magnitude of 1000's of years).

@@jimhappnin1425One thing that we atheists have that many Christians do not have is curiuosity. Not saying that curiosity is some gift exclusively for atheists, but evangelical and fundamentalist Christians have had the curiosity burned out of them by constant indoctrination, often accompanied by negative reinforcement. They are taught to blindly believe - to have faith - unequivocally in their God and the Bible. Many Christians simply accept these beliefs because they were instilled in them by their parents or pastors and reinforced over time until questioning them becomes nearly impossible. This process of indoctrination leaves little room for doubt or critical reflection. Additionally, theists often cherry-pick the parts of their holy texts that align with their preconceived notions while ignoring the rest. Many Christians know surprisingly little about the Bible, the book they claim was authored by their deity. They are often familiar only with selected verses that have been emphasized to support specific doctrines - even when those verses may contradict the central teachings of their faith. Atheists the other hand, are often driven by curiosity to understand why Christians hold their beliefs so fervently. This curiosity propels us on a journey of discovery. We read the Bible and other apologetic works in an attempt to “get it.” However, because we retain our critical thinking skills, we avoid falling into the trap of unthinking faith. Ironically, through this process, many of us atheists become more familiar with the actual content of the Bible than believers themselves. Christians are often spoon-fed key verses to memorize but rarely engage in a critical reading of the entire text. After all, it’s a lengthy book with small print, and reading it requires effort - effort that might lead to uncomfortable realizations if one were to think deeply about its contents. The Bible contains some truly troubling and nasty passages that could shake one’s faith if examined critically. It is not uncommon for individuals to leave Christianity after examining its roots, particularly the teachings of Paul (Saul of Tarsus) and those of Jesus, the rabbi whose authority Paul claimed as the foundation of his religious beliefs. Comparing these teachings with the actions and words of modern Christians often leads to profound disappointment. Today’s Christians frequently ignore or even contradict the core teachings of their faith. For instance, how can someone be a racist white nationalist while claiming to follow Jesus? How can someone preach unbridled capitalism while professing Christianity? How can anyone argue that society should not care for the poor and sick when such care is central to Jesus’ teachings? These contradictions are baffling. Similarly, anyone who claims that women should be denied medical care for their most intimate concerns clearly hasn’t read the New Testament with understanding. Those who lavish gifts on preachers while neglecting their neighbors fail spectacularly as Christians. It is this hypocrisy among self-proclaimed Christians, combined with some of the more absurd aspects of the Bible itself, that often leads people to question all religions. Many ultimately conclude that religions are built on illusions, wishful thinking, magical dependency, and a denial of reality. Atheists tend to seek real answers. When they search for truth, they learn. Religion often discourages such questioning - allowing only those inquiries that reinforce belief while discouraging any that challenge church authority or doctrine. As a result, Christian knowledge is often limited to official dogma rather than broader understanding. Many atheists were once Christians themselves - people who studied their religion deeply before realizing it was built on shaky foundations. In fact, many atheists became nonbelievers precisely because they read the Bible carefully and critically. This is why atheists tend to know the Bible so well. If you don’t want to go down this same path, you might want to limit your Bible reading to “safe” passages that won’t challenge your faith - and ignore signs like inconsistencies and contradictions. For many atheists who have read the Bible extensively - myself included - this exploration often began before we became atheists.

Generally speaking, it is kinda sad for all of us in that we even have to debate this God issue back and forth if even with ourselves. A nephew of mine who's mother passed while he was still in Elementary school came over this summer to a small family bbq and expressed his disappointment to me for being born at all. He wasn't being upset or bitter, he just casually let me know that basically he would've passed on life if given the choice. He was just 18 and had just graduated H.S. Of course I dug a bit into the "why" he felt this way? I listened and let him do the talking. He spoke about our short year's to live, our illnesses, danger's... A tall, good looking, very intelligent kid who was just given his first car as a graduation gift, and went through H.S with the expensive clothes and all that we "assume" a H.S kid wants. But I could see that although grateful and appreciative, none of that meant anything to him. I felt like I was conversing with a mature adult who wasn't mad, but just didn't care for this "gift of life". He actually thought this was all kinda stupid. I spoke of how we all may view life one way when we're young, but to keep an open mind to the possibility that our current view may change with life experiences such as marriage, kids... He asked "why would he want to bring others into this mess"? Again, not an upset or bitter kid outwardly. I can only imagine how his HUGE loss of his mom shaped his overall view? As a Secular Humanist I didn't try to encourage him with stories and promises that even I don't believe in, but I continued to encourage him to keep an open mind that his views may change later on? Key Figures Silent
The first nagging question is why so many key figures in the stories of the Gospels never bothered to record any of the events themselves?
Consider Mary, Jesus’ mother. According to the gospels, Mary knew she was a virgin and yet gave birth, and that this was an act of God; and various people told her that her son Jesus was divine; and she lived with the Son of the Most High God throughout his childhood and teen years, at least. So why did she not write (or have written for her) any of her truly amazing personal experiences?
And what about Jesus himself? We don’t have one sentence written by him. Had Jesus composed his own gospel, then there would have been no need for four mere humans to attempt to do so, many decades after the fact, resulting in there being so many inconsistencies and discrepancies between their differing accounts.
And even if we go out of our way for a minute to say, for the sake of argument, that each of the four gospels in the New Testament was written by one of the eleven disciples (we exclude Judas, of course), then where are the other seven disciples’ accounts of the life of Jesus? As one example, what about the “lead” disciple - where is the gospel written by (or dictated by) Peter, telling of all of the supposed amazing supernatural things he witnessed first hand? It’s absent, just like for the others.
Where are the documents written by Nicodemus, or Joseph of Arimathea? What about the Centurion and his fellow Roman soldiers who were allegedly there at Jesus’ crucifixion and were so amazed they proclaimed, “Truly, this was the son of God!”?
Why did Lazarus, who Jesus supposedly raised from the dead, not write (or have written for him) anything about his amazing escape from death? If YOU were dead for 4 days and then were brought back to life, wouldn't you write about it? Why didn’t Mary or Martha jot down anything about this miracle, or anything else to do with Jesus? Wouldn't your dear friends, two sisters who loved you and who sent for Jesus and who watched as you were raised from the dead, write anything about it?
    35 Years of Silence
The first gospel written was the Gospel of Mark, somewhere around 65 to 70 CE. Since Jesus died somewhere around 30 - 33 CE, there is a gap of some 35 years between Jesus’ death and the first gospel. Why weren't the amazing events of Jesus’ life written down sooner? If God in the flesh had walked among you and a dozen or so of your close friends, and performed all kinds of miracles, over a span of one or more years, wouldn't at least one of you have bothered to write down at least some of them when they occurred, or at least soon after? Why would every one of you wait some thirty-five years before doing so? And even then still have the majority of your group not write anything?

Not a JW, but a Christian.
      1. A local flood dosnt make narrative sense for many reasons ill give one example.
      A. If it were local, just have the animals move.
      B. Many local floods happened in Bible days that would have nullified gods promise, Moses knew nile after all.
      C. A local flood could not cover the mountains of Ararat or any mountain.
      D. A local flood would not have solved gods problem of a sullied bloodline of mankind and fallen angels, Noah was "perfect" in his genealogy after all. Read: no hybrid demigods (nephlahim)
      2. No proof of global flood?
      A. Polystrate tree fossils across the US continent link the entire geologic column to one event. Not only do we see them, but thanks to st Helen's explosion we know how they are formed, floods.
      B. Sediment does not lay down in stratagraphic layers, but diagonal to it. This observable reproducible phenomenon nullifies all current dating methods
      C. The mass of sea diatoms that make the huge chalk formations with fossils buried show not only that it was formed quickly, but also they were shunted together over a massive distance
      D. The Bible say the water of the flood came from BELOW GROUND, that the earth "cleaved" open. We can see this from the trench that encircles the earth under the oceans.
      E. Any gradeschooler can look at at the Atlantic Ocean and see the continents fit together in some pangia like formation, but nobody points out that you can actually do the same with the pacific side following the cracks under the ocean. You either have to assume the earth grew, or that intercontinental crust deflated, but as the radiating magnetic lines from the trench are contemporaries on both sides of the world, pangia is geometrically impossible -the lines would be marred.
      F. Coal layers on the geologic column join, this is consistent with an ebbing and flowing on continental sediment, but not possible with deep time laying of sedimentary layers. The geologic column was made in a short period of time.
      3. Biology
      A. God says animals are created after their own Kind, this is not the same as species. Any species that has a gradation of being able to breed would be a "kind"
      B. Evolution is not true but adaptation CAN happen very fast. Look at the common pig/razorback, the stickleback fish, dog breeds. The difference between adaptation and Evolution is:
Adaptation comes from preexisting data inherent to the creature. Dna has a libarerary of Millions of dormant situational modifications. This is not Evolution, its inbuilt design from the start.
Evolution required deep time and mutation to create new structures.
      C. Do not conflate natural selection with Evolution. Evolution NEEDS natural selection, but not the other way around. N.s. is scientifically observable and a subtractive process, not a generative one.
There so much more but the Bible is true. There was a time (1880's) Nineveh was though to be a fictional city, Israel was though to have a fictional dynasty, a prophetic chapter of iseah was though to have been added post jesus, dragons were thought to not be real. But then all of them eventually get unburied and the Bible is vindicated.
Sorry about your turtle, don't go back to JW, but do trust in Jesus.

@@JoyRaptor @Scott Vigil evolution is a gradual change over time. Things like adaptation and natural selections are part of evolution. Also saying DNA has all these possibilities already is true, but it isn't exactly true either. DNA is a blueprint, a strand of DNA only hold the info of that single strand and nothing more. It doesn't have everything preencoded, for it it did then every single member of the species would just be the same. DNA changes and the blueprint itself changes. Even when I was Christian I understood this. DNA doesn't hold anything it isn't using, and making the argument that it can be those other traits due to it having the same building blocks, the different protein blocks, is about the same as saying all atoms are preencoded with everything already due to them being made with the same tiny bits.

@@JoyRaptor I cant argue with a person who cant take evidence from one person, so here is some major events/stories that might make you rethink your “we are alone in the universe” opinion.
1: Here is an article from a major news station:

But has modern science, from the beginning of the 20th century, proved that there is no God, as some commentators now claim? Science is an amazing, wonderful undertaking: it teaches us about life, the world and the universe. But it has not revealed to us why the universe came into existence nor what preceded its birth in the Big Bang. Biological evolution has not brought us the slightest understanding of how the first living organisms emerged from inanimate matter on this planet and how the advanced eukaryotic cells-the highly structured building blocks of advanced life forms-ever emerged from simpler organisms. Neither does it explain one of the greatest mysteries of science: how did consciousness arise in living things? Where do symbolic thinking and self-awareness come from? What is it that allows humans to understand the mysteries of biology, physics, mathematics, engineering and medicine? And what enables us to create great works of art, music, architecture and literature? Science is nowhere near to explaining these deep mysteries.
But much more important than these conundrums is the persistent question of the fine-tuning of the parameters of the universe: Why is our universe so precisely tailor-made for the emergence of life? This question has never been answered satisfactorily, and I believe that it will never find a scientific solution. For the deeper we delve into the mysteries of physics and cosmology, the more the universe appears to be intricate and incredibly complex. To explain the quantum-mechanical behavior of even one tiny particle requires pages and pages of extremely advanced mathematics. Why are even the tiniest particles of matter so unbelievably complicated? It appears that there is a vast, hidden “wisdom,” or structure, or knotty blueprint for even the most simple-looking element of nature. And the situation becomes much more daunting as we expand our view to the entire cosmos.
We know that 13.7 billion years ago, a gargantuan burst of energy, whose nature and source are completely unknown to us and not in the least understood by science, initiated the creation of our universe. Then suddenly, as if by magic, the “God particle”-the Higgs boson discovered two years ago inside CERN’s powerful particle accelerator, the Large Hadron Collider-came into being and miraculously gave the universe its mass. Why did this happen? The mass constituted elementary particles-the quarks and the electron-whose weights and electrical charges had to fall within immeasurably tight bounds for what would happen next. For from within the primeval soup of elementary particles that constituted the young universe, again as if by a magic hand, all the quarks suddenly bunched in threes to form protons and neutrons, their electrical charges set precisely to the exact level needed to attract and capture the electrons, which then began to circle nuclei made of the protons and neutrons. All of the masses, charges and forces of interaction in the universe had to be in just the precisely needed amounts so that early light atoms could form. Larger ones would then be cooked in nuclear fires inside stars, giving us carbon, iron, nitrogen, oxygen and all the other elements that are so essential for life to emerge. And eventually, the highly complicated double-helix molecule, the life-propagating DNA, would be formed.
Why did everything we need in order to exist come into being? How was all of this possible without some latent outside power to orchestrate the precise dance of elementary particles required for the creation of all the essentials of life? The great British mathematician Roger Penrose has calculated-based on only one of the hundreds of parameters of the physical universe-that the probability of the emergence of a life-giving cosmos was 1 divided by 10, raised to the power 10, and again raised to the power of 123. This is a number as close to zero as anyone has ever imagined. (The probability is much, much smaller than that of winning the Mega Millions jackpot for more days than the universe has been in existence.)
The scientific atheists have scrambled to explain this troubling mystery by suggesting the existence of a multiverse-an infinite set of universes, each with its own parameters. In some universes, the conditions are wrong for life; however, by the sheer size of this putative multiverse, there must be a universe where everything is right. But if it takes an immense power of nature to create one universe, then how much more powerful would that force have to be in order to create infinitely many universes? So the purely hypothetical multiverse does not solve the problem of God. The incredible fine-tuning of the universe presents the most powerful argument for the existence of an immanent creative entity we may well call God. Lacking convincing scientific evidence to the contrary, such a power may be necessary to force all the parameters we need for our existence-cosmological, physical, chemical, biological and cognitive-to be what they are.
Science and religion are two sides of the same deep human impulse to understand the world, to know our place in it, and to marvel at the wonder of life and the infinite cosmos we are surrounded by. Let’s keep them that way, and not let one attempt to usurp the role of the other.
If you read all of that, congrats, now time for the miracle stories:
      1:
He said in 2017: “I woke up in the morning took my car in and commuted from New Jersey.
“I got to the building and took the elevator all the way to the top - 47 storeys - and then climb onto the platform.
      Alcides Moreno
Alcides Moreno fell from the 47th floor of the Solow Tower building
      Alcides Moreno
Alcides Moreno is what doctors called a "miracle"
I think God saved me, but I want to ask him ‘why me? What happened? Why?’ Maybe it was a second chance to keep going
      Alcides Moreno
“I just grabbed the scaffold and held on until another cable snapped.”
Mr Moreno then plunged 472ft, surviving only thanks to the platform he was working on getting lodged against a neighbouring building.
He added: “The paramedics, they found me right in the middle, the scaffold snapped in half and was lodged between the two buildings.
“It was right in the middle, they picked me up from there and took me to the hospital.
“I didn’t wake up from a coma until December 24, right there in the bed and my wife was there.
“I was [eventually] able to walk and everything, the doctor told me ‘you are a miracle’”.
      Alcides Moreno
Mr Moreno's cable snapped whilewashing the windows
      The platform
      The platform plunged almost 500ft
During the incident, Mr Moreno broke 10 bones, his lungs collapsed and he needed 43 pints of blood and plasma.
Only half the people who fall from three storeys survive and from ten storeys almost no one does.
However, Mr Moreno is not convinced what happened was a miracle, as his brother - Edgar - who was on the platform with him, did not survive.
He continued: “I still don’t know [what I think happened].
“My brother is a big loss, we were really, really close.
“I think God saved me, but I want to ask him ‘why me? What happened? Why?’ Maybe it was a second chance to keep going.
“I am looking forward to finding out why.”
An investigation into the accident found that the scaffolding had not been properly maintained and that new motorised cables, which attached the window washing platform to the building, had not been properly anchored to the roof.
So explain to me how this is possible? I know you can’t, and this is solid enough evidence that there is a higher power in control, even if you dont like it!
Now, we have to talk about the bible, in exodus it explains how moses and the Israelites went to mount sinai, but they recently discovered that the mountain was in saudi arabia, they found charred mountain top (where God came down) and they found pieces of an alter (when they created the cow since moses hadn’t come down in ages) I know you will try to come up with some sort of argument, but you cant because I just proved you wrong AGAIN,
Then we have the whole moral aspect to talk about, if God isn’t real what makes killing someone wrong? because at the end of the day we all die, so why is killing 6 million people wrong? Unless you will get judged in the future for your actions, which proves the existence of God.
This is alot of things to take in, and I hope this helps you actually understand there is more to the world then we are here then die.
