    The Mustangs are looking great. You are doing a wonderful job learning how to use the MCW paint. From what I’ve seen, you mix Mr. Color leveling thinner 50/50 with a few drops of the MCW hardener, but your method worked really well. Thanks for sharing.

      Thanks. That thinner may be thicker and maybe that is why 50-50. But what I did was perfect for what I had.

    Matthew on Model Car Videos has a few very in-depth videos on how to mix those MCW paints. His models have come a long way ever since.

    Paint is looking good. Can't believe how tweaked that body is. I hope there isnt a whole lot of kits that are like that. Thanks for sharing.

    Having owned and restored a 71 Mach 1, I can say that your details are really good and the kits look like they are going to be really nice when completed. Then again, your builds always look great! I know you like to build some of the more rare cars. Ford actually built one 1971 Boss 302. The real car is being restored by Bob Perkins, one of, if not the most knowledgeable people on these cars. Anyway, I can't wait to build a kit of that car and thought maybe you would too.

      Thank you. I am aware of that car and have considered doing it. Don’t know if I actually will on that one though.

      Thanks. One thing about Scale Finished is they will use smaller metallic flakes so they look more factory in scale.

    Very nice! I started using MCW enamels about six months ago. Achieved great results in hot humid and cold dry weather (Ohio) using inexpensive lacquer thinner with a few drops of MCW hardener. Recommend a few dry mist coats around panel lines and high spots to prevent run off. Looking forward to the finished Mustangs!

    Looking very nice! Nice colors, i especially like the blue. I’ve only used MCW Ford engine blue, no hardener for my ford builds. It definitely plays well with Mr color leveling thinner. Someday I’d like to try MCW with the hardener on a body and see if I can get to look as good as all you UA-camrs.
    I think I’ll be starting my kit this weekend, at least get it cleaned up and the engine built. Thanks for the update!

    Projects look good, I’m going to be spraying a few of those MCW Enamels soon, I know they are heavier and was surprised when I heard some folks mixing 1:1, I’m used to 2:1 or 4:1. It’ll be fun to experiment with em 🤙🏼

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  10 місяців тому

      Thanks. Yes 1:1 is way to thin but if you spray many light coats and really space them out you can get away with it. It all comes down to technique really.

    They both look great I'm working on yellow mustang boss as well . O couldn't help but to notice how good those colors go together when you put the blue hood on the yellow body. That yellow with blue rally strip or blue with the yellow rallys. Nice work

      Blue and yellow would look good on a custom with some silver breaking it up.

    I will remember your 4-1-1 ratio. Some who use higher concentration of thinner in their mix are finding "dust" specks in the paint when it dries hard. You mention your paint is "thick". That sounds like to me a better way to go, so coverage isn't so thin that dust pops up that needs sanding off, and then a whole layer of clear applied over the body after wet sanding.
    MCW is probably wise to not specify a mixture on the bottle. You know there would be complainers who say they followed directions, and want a refund because their model has paint issues.

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  10 місяців тому

      Thanks. The ratio I used is 4 parts paint, 1 part thinner, 1 part hardener (4-1-1). I’m sure that was a typo but wanted to make sure. You have a point but the manufacturer should have a suggested use. Real automotive paint manufacturers will not warranty and paint products if there instructions are not followed correctly and they can tell. Or even if you mix products like I used diff brand thinner. Of course those are professional painters using their products (supposedly)!

    Mam O Man! You have just told me alot about MCW enamel paint. I have a model I want to paint and it is "Night Mist Blue Metallic" and MCW is the only one that has the color. 😥 Not a enamel guy but I thought ok... Then could not figure out what I need to buy or how to mix it and so on.. So I said screw it. Bought some rattle can spray the is close enough... Now I'm re-thinking... 🤔
    Thanks for explaining what you went through. Competitors... Hahaha
