  • Going to have a little fun with this one. Doing a widebody conversion using the Iceman Collections kit with the Revell 1971 Mach1 Mustang kit. Now we are fitting the body parts and glueing them on.
    Iceman Collections: Here is the link to the kit I bought. This project is not sponsored by Iceman, I am doing this for my own enjoyment. icemancollecti...

    Don't breath the dust. Wear a respirator.

    “Just because I think I know what I’m doing doesn’t mean I know what I’m doing.”
    That is the story of my life!
    PS…as others have said, wear a respirator when sanding 3D printed stuff…the resin dust is wildly toxic.
    It might even be a good idea to wet sand just to keep the dust from going airborne.

      Thanks. In my excitement to get started. I didn’t think about the resin in the same way as my other resin kits. I know it is not the same as the two part resin that cures with a chemical reaction.

    I'm building the same model. I did some putty work today. I'll follow along. I'm going to release my update video in a couple of days. 😎👍

    Not my style of build but it looks like fun putting this together. It does fit pretty well with little work. I wonder if you should have hogged out the wheel openings first. Can't wait to see what it becomes. Thanks for sharing.

    Seems like a pretty ambitious build but, will no doubt look great once you get it all mocked up, primed and painted!! ;)
    Looks like the IceMan put together quite an awesome kit together!!! Well done on his part as well!

    Watching You work on this, I began to wonder what it might look like on a '70 Cuda?? I enjoy watching these type of videos showing any type of build process! Thank You for sharing with Us here in tubeland. Take Care, Be Safe, God Bless Later

      I actually want to do this to a 70 Charger RT. I have an extra Modelhaus Resin kit to do it to.

    Thanks for the great video.
    I'm going to order the '69/'70 wide body kit.
    I want to build a GT1 BOSS 302 fantasy car.
    Thinking Monster Energy Drink livery, or even better looking Fireball Whiskey.

    Interesting to watch along with you working. I’m liking the fender flares but that sill panel (along the rocker) looks way too heavy to my eyes. Hopefully it’ll look better when it’s painted black. Good call with the tail spoiler though. Looking forward to seeing this one come together.

    Great work, not a fan of this Resin kit but you are making it work nicely. If I had to build this I might consider putting a 4 headlight option on there only because of how narrow the nose gets with this kit it begins to look beady eyed lol. Even rectangle lights would work here for a more aggressive look. Can't wait to see more.

    Excellent. Particularly appreciate you sharing the fitting and gluing process. I was wondering how you would handle that challenge. I'd always heard horror stories about sanding/finishing resin parts as the dust is hazardous. But are the iceman parts 3-D printed from plastic filaments and not as hazardous as the earlier generation resin cast items ? I guess there is still a mix of resin cast and 3-D printed parts on the market. So builder be aware.

      I have to be careful as I don’t know what resin is used.

    Looking great, are you going with the kit engine or a resin engine?

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  6 місяців тому

      Not sure yet. I would like to use the newer engine but it depends on how much work it may need to fit. I’m worried about how much taller the motor is. I don’t want the motor dragging and still poking out the hood.

    the body prep would be easier to see if the body was primed in a darker colour

      Maybe but the super glue doesn’t stick as well to a primered surface.

    What kind of glue were you using? Thanks

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  6 місяців тому +1

      Mostly the super glue. The CA glue seemed to work but at a slower pace.

  • @Alyssa-zt2fx

    For a resin model car what glue would you use?

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  5 місяців тому

      Super glue or CA glue. I have heard some use 5 minute epoxy but that I have not done.

    Is 3D printing resin the same as "normal" resin, aka, don't you need to wear a mask as resin dust's bad for your health? Also, don't you need to cut the kit's fenders (the car, not the resin kit) so that you can make proper wheels wells for the bigger tires?

    • @TheMuscleCarModeler
      @TheMuscleCarModeler  6 місяців тому +1

      I’m not sure on the resin. I don’t believe it is the same resin as it cures differently. But the effects may be the same and I should have worn a mask. I didn’t sand much actually but should have been prepared. Also yes I did cut the fenders but after I had the flares solidly glued. That way I know how much to cut.
