  • Hey guys! We get questions about lubrication of our pistols. Don't stress too much - we haven't seen a gun lube yet that was truly "bad." At the same time, it doesn't hurt to know the basics of where to put it! Here we cover the high points to get you started.

    You folks at Shadow Systems have moved ahead of the pack, so to speak, in my eyes. I used to be an HK/Glock guy but ever since I bought my DR920P, I have been obsessed with growing my SS Collections and honestly can't wait for the things to come. Not only are y'all representing Texas but the whole DFW, which is my birth place, and it makes me proud. Im an up and coming UA-camr who is passionate about firearms and will definitely be testing and evaluating as much Shadow System's Gear as I possibly can.

    Thanks Trevor. I purchased 2 DR920’s. One for me and 1 for my youngest son. (25 years old ex army). He took both pistols to the range Saturday. Called me while he was there saying “Dad, these pistols are trash”. They won’t cycle more than 2 rounds without malfunctioning. I told him to calm down. I asked what ammo did you bring? He said the cheap ball ammo. I responded with: “ I told you that these weapons are tight and you’ll need to lube ‘em 1st and shoot the hot rounds out of them. Shoot about 4 mags.
    He just couldn’t understand why he’d need to shoot his “premium ammo” ($$) to break them in. Well, number 1 I paid for both guns and I paid for the ammo and you should have learned something from being in the military. Train with the SAME AMMO you’re carrying everyday. Yes it’s a LITTLE MORE EXPENSIVE but your life is priceless. I get his logic to some degree and I understand that some people can’t budget for that but you don’t buy a Porsche and put $40 tires on it to break in the motor. I’m 60 years old and I’ve learned this the hard way. If you train with weaker ammo you’re building muscle memory whether you realize it or not. When faced with a crisis situation and you engage with your “hot stuff” things are going to feel different and potentially cause you to glitch. THAT COULD POTENTIALLY COST YOU YOUR LIFE. This Gun is definitely NOT FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!! I believe this has become a marketing nightmare. It’s impossible to produce a high end product with tighter tolerances then explain to people you’re going to need to break this Gun in by shooting 200 to 300 rounds. If you say it up front you loose customers and if you don’t say it you get a customer service tsunami.
    MY THOUGHTS:
    Hang tough with your mission statement. Things will eventually come around when enough of us educate our friends and family about this weapon. When you reach the 500+ rounds stage this weapon is SWEET. Positive side; this forces people to get out and shoot their damn guns and become proficient. The way things are going in our country and our border crisis WE NEED TO BE FAMILIAR WITH OUR WEAPONS. Gun purchases are on the rise and we need gun competency to rise with it. My guess is we’re going to need it. 911 will be flooded and each one of us will be our own 1st responder.
    Enough ranting. Thanks so much for taking the time to come on here and lay out the facts. The climb to the top is never easy but we need more gun manufacturers engaged with our people. You’re doing a great job and service for all of us. I wish you all the best and pray that shadow systems reaches its full potential of success.

    Just bought a MR920 Damascus for Black Friday and took it to the range the day after. I have a Gen 5 Glock 19 and tries to used the 4 Glock OEM 15 round mags I have and each Glock mag will not chamber a round. The Pmags that came with the MR920 work just fine but it shocked me that none of my 4 Glock OEM mags wouldn’t change a round and will have the round stuck. I have one Glock OEM 15 round mag with a 5 round extension to make 20 round work flawlessly. Idk if the MR920 is very picky with Glock mags or not but I assumed they would’ve chambered without an issue

    If you use heavy lube on a Glock it will migrate into the firing pin channel. Take the cover plate off and wipe that channel out pretty frequently. I have seen a LOT of gunk and lube in this channel on heavily lubed Glocks. Also, gun oil disappears/evaporates in as little as 20-30 days. Gun grease, on the other hand, will stay on a gun for at least a year. My police dept switched to gun grease, because it kept the guns perfectly lubricated all year long until the next qualification. We found guys that lubed with oil has COMPLETLY dry guns most of the year because they didn't lubricate every month, as needed, when you use a gun oil. Gun greases is much more forgiving and last a lot longer. I think its better to use grease in most cases, unless you live in arctic conditions.

    Is the Loctite 466863 C5A Paste in the 25mL stick the exact same thing as the 8008 C5A? On Amazon the 8008 is $40 for a whole can and the stick is only $15 but probably enough for my needs.

  • @just_merj
    @just_merj 2 роки тому +2

    Would you recommend cleaning off the loctite compound and re-applying a new coat or should I just leave whatever is still there? I did a cleaning and still saw a healthy amount left over and didn't know if I should replace it or not. Would you also recommend using the loctite compound as a long term lubricant for the connector?

    • @deplorabledave1048
      @deplorabledave1048 Рік тому

      Its a never seize compound. Use WD 40 and a small brush to get it all out/off. Re lubricate using Slide-Glide Lite grease (Amazon $7.95). Oil on the connector.
      You can use Brake Clean as a solvent, but it can be quite harsh on some finishes. WD 40 is a better SOLVENT and moisture displacer than it is an actual lubricant.

      I have a FAXON 4150cv threaded in nitride in a Palmetto Dagger, that wears as fast as the glock
      I am shocked outta litterly over 100 different pistols over the past 23 years this TICN bronze at least 4 me does NOT wear at all... Keep up the great work shadow
      Also not sure if it matters but mine is a newer one with night fision sights.. I also have 0 wear on my slide stop... Not sure it makes a difference but older ones with ameriglo sights I noticed they have a glock looking slide stop square ish.. N they Wear fast.. Mine has the newer elongated slide stop..
      Either way lol 500+ lil 0 wear anywhere AT All... And not a malfunction of ANY type..Ever..

    I have one of your pistols on order,however, I may cancel. I have seen and read far too many issues with these pistols. I need a true self defense pistol that my life can depend on and will run without having to baby it like a 1911 or an AR. This is exactly why people purchase Glock’s and AK47’s they just run.

    • @Constitutionalist1791
      @Constitutionalist1791 4 місяці тому

      I thought the same but actually purchased one to find out for myself. I had 1 failure to feed and the front sight post came loose. That happened within 235-240 rounds. There's a break-in period of around 200 rounds. So that failure to feed I'm not personally worried about. You can have issues with any firearm if you practice enough with them. Glocks are great guns but I had a trigger reset problem multiple times with a glock 43x. I also did not shoot it near as well as I do the MR920 foundation series. This is still a new company (2016). I hope these guys continue to grow and produce awesome tools. American made 🇺🇸

    I'm commenting on this video because it's been over a week after contacting support without any follow up.
    I've owned my MR920C for about a year and it still jams on the feed ram shooting 147g 9mm.
    The issue was never fixed and I come to find out other MR920 owners experienced the same issue Your warranty indicates a 5 year coverage and reads:
    "Shadow Systems warrants to the original purchaser that the firearm was made free of defects in material, function, and workmanship. Shadow Systems will address any such defect for the period that the original purchaser owns the firearm. In cases where a product cannot be repaired, Shadow Systems reserves the right to replace the product with a current production product of like kind or value.
    This Limited Lifetime Warranty does not apply to wear items including: Firing Pins, Extractors, Magazine Catch and springs. This Limited Lifetime Warranty also does not cover loss, theft, deliberate damage, or cosmetic damage that does not affect function."
    I would definitely say my situation qualities as a defect in function.
    I found a comment from another customer experiencing the same jamming issue as me using 147g. I asked what was done about it and he replied, "mine had trouble with CCI blazer. They sent me a replacement barrel with the most smooth polished feed ramp I’ve ever seen. No problems at all since." I'm wondering why this wasn't done with mine in the first place. Another customer said he just sold his because he simply can't trust the gun. On May 13th, 2020 I emailed support@shadowsystemscorp.com asking what Shadow Systems intends to do about my gun jamming. Kayli Newman replied asking for pictures of my feed ramp, which I sent and I have not heard back from her or anyone (not even voice leaving a voicemail) since May 13th! is this the kind of customer service Shadow Systems represents? I paid $800 for my MR920C and it SHOULD NOT jam on 147g 9mm ammo.
    On your website you indicate: "Have questions? Lot’s of people do! We’re here to answer those questions. support@shadowsystemscorp.com"
    I also tried calling you and left a message, no one has called me back, you also have on your website: "Give Us a Call, We’re old-fashioned, we still believe in phone numbers with people on the other end. Go ahead, give it a try. (469) 458-6808"
    Is Shadow Systems going to contact me or just blow me off? Because if this is how your company operates you seriously need to reevaluate your goals for success.
