This video deserve an academy award! Just awesome, the bike as well. I would love to build a bike but for now I’m not sure what would be my dream build…….. I guess it would be something around 150mm travel and with an aluminum frame.

There's definitely something to be said for taking your time with a "heads up ride"
Especially for me as I no longer jump anything, purely because I do NOT crash as well as I used to!!
I will still attempt to carve as well as I can, and am no mens anymore than a beginner. But I do love just going for a ride through the countryside/woods whatever and just taking it all in.
It doesn't always have to be white knuckle stuff kids
Also a big well done to doddy for bringing this to light, and really showing the passion for just being out there living what you do. Regardless of what others think. That I think at least is key to life.
This was a top shelf short film! The passion that came through for the sport and for the Forest time was exactly what I feel like on my Saturday morning rides! Cheers, mate on such a well done video. The bike is absolutely gorgeous!

Beautiful ride Doddy. Very similar frame as my YT IZZO. In which I believe is one of the most versatile bikes out there. FIY the top tube is sexy but requires knee pads with inner protection. 😉
I’ve just found this video and, I love it.
The frame, the colour, The XT and the simplicity.
No wonder your pumped. I’m looking to do the same, simple trail riding bike. I’ve got an old Marin frame that I want to strip down a build out. I’ve never done this before but, have always done jobs on my bike. I know I’ll get satisfaction from this rather than just buying a bike.

To see and hear how genuinely happy Doddy is after this bike build just shows how much he loves his work and his MTB life...Yes, anyone would be happy to be given a chance to build their dream bike but, ultimately, to see someone truly appreciate and understand what they have built and the reason they chose specific components shows that a bike should be built and ridden to truly enjoy....Awesome work Doddy and keep up with the awesome videos, they are all spot on fella!
It's always motivating to see someone being so ecstatic about their rides! If I could choose a dream build, it would probably involve a hardtail steel frame from Ragley, dark red or dark green, with a big fork on it!

I'd go as far to say as that one of my favourite ever videos from this channel. The excitement from Doddy when building was awesome. And where he was just talking about taking in a enjoying your surroundings was spot on. I absolutely love a solo ride just appreciating the bike and everything around me.

I don’t have the courage to make big jumps anymore, having kids seems to have slowed me down, made me more cautious.

I was waiting to c if doddy still went with crankbrothers pedals or used shimano. Saying I’ve had both, my current XTR’s r the best pedals out there and I was happy to c him put them on

Interestingly the XTR chain lasts longer than the XT chain. I saw a video where a guy put half an XT and half an XTR chain on he ebike and the XTR portion was in perfect condition when the XT portion wore out.
No trust me the XT chain lasts longer.

I really like what you sad about heads up riding. I got so much bad advice about buying a normal bike and "just do a couple miles at a time" to work up my stamina when I was moving from sea level to the mountains. Painful, boring, wasting drive time just to get to a trail and ride for a few minutes and go home. My friends just didn't get it. I explore, I don't spend an hour outdoors, I spend a whole day. I don't pedal, coast, and put it back on the rack, I hang out by a creek or in a hammock and enjoy where I went. For me, it was an ebike, for someone else it might be a low travel shock bike, but I know when a friends rings me up for a ride, I will. And then when they pull away after the ride to go home I will head back up, back out. The trail calls.

Well done! Although my Trek Fuel is light years below this it makes me feel better about my 130 rear and 150 front (upgraded to a fox 36) trail bike. Need to remind myself next time I get the urge for more travel!
Andy,....Yes, I agree, 130to 140 in the rear and 150 in the front is perfect. I have a Mondraker Raze as well and it is an amazing bike that can do just about everything.
