i still remember how serious you were those days about ins vikrant lift and other defence experts and youtuber make fun of taking ratio of lift to actual size of carrier for lift size calculation. awesome @defence matrix
Lol.
It doesn't make sense .
If indian navy will say dasault they will surely add folded wings .
10 m width is actually enough because ins vikrant is small aircraft carriers
@@adityasingh1839 do you think rafale gonna come with folded condition..that requires redesigning right?
True
Fa 18 aren't coming before 2 years of signing contract. We should increase the width of lift by 2-3 meters. One time painful retrofit is better than 30 years long pain.
FA 18 super hornet folded wind length is 9.30 m and here lift width is 10m, it will be tight fit there...
@@subhro1019 More tolerance is needed.
Correction - minimum of 3 years will be taken for first aircraft
@@71_harishranjan81 damn
It is to be cleared in my view, although iam naive to say this that TEDBF shouldn't be designed according to the lift rather lift should be modified to accommodate TEDBF so that aircrafts capabilities shouldn't be compromised
It's almost impossible to modify lift and structure of an aircraft carrier.
It will be taken out of commission for months or even a year
Plus you are talking about changing the main structure
I don't think it would be feasible
@@jesletkuriakose maybe during major refit
Some people are confused here in comments. Defense matrix is saying 10 * 14 metre is the lift size and so Super Hornet can indeed fit as Hornet folded size comes to 30.6 feet which is about 9.29 metre!
I don't know on what those designers were high on, when they were designing the lift. RIP Foresight.
3 billion dollar ship, didn't build elevators wide enough to accommodate the top maritime fighters. What a sad joke this is.
Russian lobbied as we all know for mig 29k.
Designers sirf Design karte hai , navy ke planners ki tareef karo
Iam not sure but I think the design has been brought from Britain by India. I think Britain made the lift as per their own requirement.
@@sriharivaila7276 no.. british design is completely different..it is for INS vishal.. and it won't be copy..
It's really strange that The lift wasn't built with the possibility of operating any other fighter then mig29k !!!!! Just that single limitation is big enough to hamper operations for the new carrier. It's really weird how they built the whole ship with mig29k in mind 🤦🏻
It's keel was laid in 2009, so obviously they only had Mig-29K as the option
Over confidence or lack of vision or both are at play here.
Wait f18 is comming.. Dont worry 🇮🇳👍
@SSR 😃😃
Being paid off in rubles to kneecap your own navy, hope it was worth it
Rather than blaming anyone for this😃😃, actually if we study chronology of events , in 1990's 60000 ton varyag aircraft carrier was offered to indian navy , then indian naval chief in one of the interview he said "what will we do with a 60000 ton varyag aircraft carrier when many of our ports cannot accommodate that kind of ships " that was the state of things of our martime sector in general and navy in particular.
Just after kargil war in 1999 plan to build an aircraft carrier was envisaged which at that time was planned to be a 30 kiloton carrier then the design phase of the carrier was started, but in 2005 the design was reviewed and changed to a 40+ kiloton carrier, though the actual ship-building phase started in 2009.
In 1999 when the design phase of the carrier was started we were under sanctions from USA we could not even think of USA aircraft at that point of time, rafale's induction had just started for French airforce with no export order or any kind of success for that aircraft.
Good news...
And great analysis....
It's rather bad news
Great analysis
“Tum navy se zyada nahi jante” is such a stupid argument ! actually a classic example of the logical fallacy of appeal to authority.
F18, mig 29k, mig 29, jaguars, rafales, su30mki, mirage 2000, tejas. We are the only military that flies 8 different types of air crafts. I think we have world class manpower for sourcing spare parts and logistics.
Once you start using superior platform you can’t go back. Navy would buy more FA18 in future. India should go for old hornet as a stop gap with AESA radar .
It's bothering me that TEDBF would be designed according to the lift dimensions and not according to the best adodynamics or performance.
Bilkul sahi kha sir ji apna jai hind jai bhawani 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🇮🇳🚩
Proud on the officers of navy for such brilliant forecasting...
I am a common man with ordinary ideas 😅... But still I will say that it is not right to purchase an expensive aircraft like Super Hornet just for feeling the gaps of TEDBF. Navy should consider Mig 29k and LCA Naval for this job.
100% Agree 🙌 But Russia went to war ☠️

@defence matrix -congratulations defence matrix you have been proved correct, at the time of previous video about "this lift " this had become a source of tension for you. 😊
@John Hero 😄😄
@John Hero we had named the serial as "kissa lift ka".
There is also a song by adnan sami
"Thodi bhi tho 'lift karaadhe, shaane maula lifta karaadhe" 😃
Making the lift a little bigger to accomodate aircrafts bigger than Mig 29 was not a difficult thing. It is really strange that lifts are designed so small that it is difficult to accommodate aircrafts which will operate there.
Yeah I saw that video and defence matrix was criticized by many viewers as well as other yt channels.

Thanks Pythagoras later 😀
Nice joke brah 👌
Makes since if aircraft is very thin but fa18 is not thin
How much would it cost to modify the structure to accommodate bigger lifts or is it just not possible?
I don't think it's possible without tearing the ship itself
You cannot bring any change in the lift as it is already made in the way the ship's superstructure as it was built.
I think during During major refit, it would be possible. Though it would come with a big price tag.
There is a serious need of interoperability among forces...how do we expect coordination which is critical today when the vendors/ countries within each arm are not the same...Su 30mki(Russian), Rafale (French), prospective F/A 18 (US),Mig 29K (Russian), Tejas (Indian)....The list goes on and on across different aircraft types.....that's why we have failures like post Pulwama air skirmish where we shot down our own helicopter and Air Force men.
This is conman thing...Happen with every major country...
@@Unitedworld4364 This “conman” thing cannot happen if India aspires to be a serious power….none of the top forces have this problem.

@@India-or2so Koi Batao bhai ko ke iske pehle ka video dekh le, LCA Navy ne saare trials pure kiye he aur uska ek aur aircraft ban ke ready ho raha he.
Who even approved a flawed design such as this, designed for MIG 29K is not a valid defence.
This shows the far sight of our designers.
Now we have an aircraft with a sea facing, ill-matched lift, a tight fit for the very fighters it built for.
And the navy is pouring tax payer money in testing the F/A-18 Super Hornets and the Rafale.
How stupid!
I don't understand much about designing but i think lift here could be easily made 12m wide keeping future possibilities in mind, don't know why they kept themselves limited unnecessarily.
If anyone knows, pls answer.
Back then
Their only option was mig29k, so they designed it around mig29k only.
And also bcz of Russian money in Navy's pockets to design it accordingly.
@@jackharper5642 even if it is for mig29k why can't they spare 2-3m more??
Its like unnecessarily blocking yourself on such huge project.
Still can't understand the mentality
If you'll see the entrance of the lift it's even less than 10m
Finally Alpha Defence vs Defence Matrix ended.
Ye start kab hua tha?
Alpha Defence is very misleading and false information channel.
@@Falconof96 when they both made different claims regarding lift width few months back.
Defence Matrix has always been the more professional channel.
Alpha defence yr mtlb i mean i left watching him when he fought a Caucasian justifying the Arjun tank..
I think F35B will fit in both aircraft carriers.
F18 is a good fighter but extremely old.
F35B can also be used in the Himalayan region with small runways and helipads particularly when China is using 5th Gen fighters in this region.
F35B will also give some breathing space to India's AMCA program.
Not it will choke down AMCA then airforce will also demand same. And funds for AMCA will be reduced
It’s too expensive
Jai Hind 🇮🇳
I think very short sighted approach of designing anything why will you design an aircraft carrier based on only one aircraft rather then checking the longest avaiaaible wing span in market as this will be an issue in future also since we keep air craft carriers for very long time and aircrafts come and go
Now it has been confirmed by "supreme defence authority defence matrix" that lift is 10 meters wide, rafale-m won't fit in the lift ,f-18 will somehow have to be tightly squeezed in, f-35b also has a width of of 10.5 metres, mig-29k navy will not buy ---- now for navy to seriously think of NAVAL LCA.
A Big Thumbs up 👍 For The Intro
Everyone's talking about the lift size restrictions of Vikrant but keep forgetting that we are on a path of making the same mistake of "designing" TEDBF to match vikrants lift. This might hamper TEDBF's performance or even restrict it's performance as the fighter cannot be made any little bigger
True agreed
I think TEDBF will have foldable wings so it can exceed the lift width.
Imagine, INS Vikramaditya and Vikrant(Rafale) .
2 niligiri class frigate, 2 kamorta class corvete, 2 Vishakhapattanam class destroyer .2 Diesel Submarine. 1 Arihant .
Guess the destruction.
Rate my fleet.
@Ara Ezz Then add just one more Arihant submarine.
I think , now it is enough to destroy even whole continent
Add 3 missile boats also, it'll be more destructive, remember Operation Trident & Python, then it'll be 10/10 💥
But rafale can't fit so everything is just words here.
I doubt both our carriers will operate together 1 for each eastern and western areas plus there's a good chance both might not even be available together much since they need to go in repairs etc which take like 1 or 2 years

The F/A 18 Super Hornet is around 20% cheaper than the Rafale M. A BIG DIFFERENCE. And it is a tried and tested aircraft.

Kudos to the Engineers and Arms lobby .
Now lift dimensions are out the dassault aviation could think of navy based modification for Rafael-M like adding foldable wings capabilities. Or we can have Rafael on old aircraft (16.5 x 11.20) carrier in use and switch mig 29k to new carrier. Does it make any difference. ?
F 35 will surely be the exact solution as stealth aircraft with vertical taking off capability. Better option to counter Chinese stealth threth.
Nope even f-35 will not fit, it has a width more than 10 meters.
Wow! Defense Matrix proven right in something! Congratulations.
He has always been right. He said that 3rd Aircraft Carrier is not needed right now but that P-75I nd P-76( nuke subs) are far more necessary. He was proven right in that. He said that the INS Vikrant's lift was 10m - he was proven right. He was always against MRFA 2.0. He has been proven right.

Hey, Defence Matrix is it absolutely impossible to enhance the dimensions of the lifts of INS Vikrant now. What are your views on this ?
Good question. @defence matrix may answer this qn.
Impossible
The carrier took over a decade to be built. The decisions they took would have been based on the mindset 10 yrs back. We did not have the kind of foriegn policy that we have today. I guessing no in that circle would have considered even the remotest possibility of american jets on vikrant, and given our ties with russia must have overshadowed these considerations.
Americans have been trying to sell us jets for 50+ years.
Or we were just idiots..which means that we didn't took consideration of changing world politics...which also means mmrca crap that was there in 2010 was also Just show off..
20 years -10 years planning/designing+ 10 years building.
When Tedbf comes all these FA18 can be converted into growlers
Navy should consider to fill this gap with Naval Tejas until the expected indigenous TEDBF comes. Indigenous IAC with indigenous LCA...It will be a message to the world.
Lobbyists are trying every now-and-then to dominate our Indigenous products....it’s a serious obstacle in the road to become a superpower.
We need a video on the AK-630 vs USA phalanx close-range counter system. Which is better?

Which idiot designed the lift anyway...? Did they think that the Mig 29K will have eternal service life.....? While Designing an important Asset like a carrier, there should be atleast some level of common sense to make it versatile and NOT centred around a single system or technology......
Ha bhai thoda aur barha dene me unki jeb se ja rha tha kya?
Classic Indian crab mentality design thinking - taking care only of current specs with no thought for future expansion.
@@echosmith5256 Exactly.....
Who was considering the purchase of different fighter at design time?
A clearer picture was of developing a fighter compatible to carrier and not vice versa.
Russian lobbied for mig 29k as we all know this.
Which clearly means that we will have to shift most of our Mig 29 K's to INS VK and use FA 18 Super Hornet Block III from IAC1? Or have some Mig 29 K's to spare on IAC1
We will not get TEDBF before next 10 years. Better to concentrate of f 18 and also plan for a 3Rd aircraft carrier.
Please make a video on weapons package of IAC-1
Thanks, for the info :) F-A/18 Hornet ko hi consider karna chahiye IAF kooo.. kyunki future mein bhi Indian army ko aur bhi S-400 induct karne pad sakte hain.. aur F-A/18 Hornet aa gaya phir USA sae sanctions ki problem nahi rahegi.

Strange, They were extremely unhappy with mig29k's from the start. but still they designed the lift only for the same aircraft.
Seriously????? Sometimes I doubt whether they are playing games? Is long term planning not their job? They say you can buy airforce in one not but it takes decades to raise a Navy. Navy should plan for at least 26 years. Where is the vision where is the planning and visio to build.
You can say in 2009 we don't know about lift size. But since the nuclear deal itself we knew that, US is warming up to India just because they want to sell their fighters and weapons.
Let us put this in proper perspective, just because of the "lift" Is small and the "rafale-m" does not fit into the lift "rafale lobby" Seems to be upset and hurling accusations that "indian navy is incompetent, indian ship designers are useless " So on and so forth.
One should remember the period of 1999 to 2009 when these entire "vikrant" Project was taking shape and was in planning stage, the global environment was in such a state of flux and change, where there were too many variables and imponderables which could not be factored in the planning.
At that point of time if one can refresh one's memory even Russia was fully in the western camp except from becoming a nato member.
Is It Possible That, Dassault Can Sell Transfer Of Technology To India If Dassault Want To Win This Navy's Order & India Can Modify Rafale's Wings From Fixed Wings Into Foldable Wings, Further This Experience Can Also Be Used In Development Of TEDBF !!!

Defence Matrix: WHAT'S THE DIAGONAL LENGTH OF a 10m x 14m RECTANGLE? 🤔 Surely it's more than 11 meters. Has anyone considered that it may fit if it is put kindof sideways in the lift?
Lol, I'm not sure if I'm a genius or a total fool 🤪
Make a 10 cm x 14 cm rectangle and measure the diagonal...
Cheers 🥂
I think if we put aircraft in diagonal position then the length of aircraft will exceed because currently the aircraft is seafacing but with diagonal position its front or back will touch side parts.

I still feel and I hope Navy would only use NLCA as a stop gap till TEDBF is ready. It will free up money for quick development. Spend that money to hire consultants from Boeing
@John Hero may be 10 years. But it's not a good idea to use 3 different types of Naval aircraft. When Each forign one comes with it's own set of problems
