Morning... This was exciting, and well done. I've wanted my own home weather station since I was a kid - many moons ago. Maybe now that I'm retired I might finally realize my dream. Yours looks like a very good set up. Enjoyed, thanks...
Yes, it is a great system. Just the Weather Station and a Satellite Dish arm was all that was needed outside of the hardware, and it works great. Thanks for the comment and enjoy the channel.
I had the 2902 2017 model and was the most accurate station I've had. Unfortunately, I had to sell it because I live in an apt now. Didn't work too well here.
Yes, I have been happy with it, because of the mounting location, the wind is not accurate as it is blocked by the house, but my limitation not the quality.
Hey man! Thanks SO much for this vid.... I was actually going through and searching for instructions on how to get this Satellite post working with the station... I was able to pause when it was clamped to your table and BOOM! done!!! Ready to mouth this to my wooden post tomorrow! QUESTION: There is an arrow on top that says "north" ... Does the unit HAVE to point north? Or does it really matter?! You didn't mention it, and I don't see anything in the manual! Thanks again for the vid!!
Glad the video helped you out. If you want the wind direction to be correct, it must be pointed to the North. If I remember there was an arrow on the top which you would use to point north. It is easy to figure out North, just use a compass or I used an app I downloaded on my phone which acted as a compass.
TRUE north too, not magnetic. I know my iPhone has a setting in compass settings to ensure that. Can be off by a few degrees not a huge issue but the better it is sited the more accurate everything will be
Hi, Paul: Excellent review of this device. I would like to install this weather station at my vacation home which often experiences high wind. I would like the device to alert me when the wind speed is >20 mph. so that I can roll up the sun shades/ blinds. Can this device alert me via my phone remotely?
I can log into the device using either Ambient or Weather Underground websites. It does store data, but sorry, I am not certain if alarms can be created directly out of the unit.
Old comment but yes, you can set up alerts “if wind/temperature/RH etc reach x value” things like that. I have mine set to notify through email and txt for wind gusts exceeding 50mph
Thanks for the video, I have a very old Acu-Rite weather station (10+ years old) just as you did. I'm noticing my temps and wind speeds to be off lately and may update. How does this one record/display rainfall? My old one would just keep a total of the rainfall until I cleared it out. Does this one handle this better? Can I see daily rainfall or each rainfall event separately? Just wanted to make sure I understood you correctly. Thanks
AW stations will destroy an Acurite in accuracy, definitely recommend! The WS-2000 is the same station but with a better display (same one their 5000 uses).
Update: I went ahead and purchased the WS-2902. I was not getting the rain event option in the app, but after digging into it, I did not have auto firmware updates turned on. After updating, I now see rain events, which is very important to me. I am very happy with this unit!!
I am happy with the weather station and impressed with the internet connectivity. This device seams to do a very good job of being available to see online... Accuracy of all readings are the same as other local weather stations that are also reporting online in weather underground; wind included. ; Rainfall amounts are nearly the same as an old-fashioned rain gauge.
@@pjliving Wind speeds are likely reading lower because the height difference (Standard 33ft) and the difference in wind speed since it is a different location.
Paul, have you had any experience with the alarm going off at all hours and if so, how did you find out how to fix the problem? Our Ambient systems alarm goes off twice a night and during the day light hours. We do not know how to deactivate the alarm…any ideas.
Sorry, I have not had that issued, but I know another earlier weather station from another manufacture had an alarm set to go off at 32 Degrees. It was annoying until I found out how to turn it off. Thanks for watching!
Yes, the Ambient Weather Station is a lot better and appears to be very accurate. The wind speed is off, but I did not mount in a recommended location, and it is blocked from the house.
Just got one for Christmas. You provide great info for it. I have to get a pole in the ground before mounting. Thanks for the great video!
Glad I could help

It shows the rainfall rate, daily,. weekly, event, monthly and total.

How much is the price
Currently on Amazon It sells for just shy of $200.00 the Antenna Mount I used to mount the Weather station to the Support Pole was about $25.00.
hey, Paul, would u like to try our item and compare it to ambient? by sainlogic pr team
Sure I would try your item.
a good station but the monitor is junk, you have to have it a the right angle to see it properly.
Acurite Sucks... All I've had were way off.
