Wow I have a 2000 civic & this is the problem why it failed smog check, I had already cleaned it, but kept lighting idle code, I will try the “ remove screw & insert small screwdriver & wiggle to sweet spot “ I appreciate this video Sir. Thank you
Hi dear friend thank you for the useful and to the point video.I also have the same problem with my car so I did all the things you explained also I changed the coil and spark plugs and injectors but the car has rough idle problem in cold days start!Do you think it turns back the orings of intake manifold?!! I appreciate your soonest reply and useful tips in advance.👍🤚
@@SoaringMech Yes but there isn't any acceptable specialist here most of them can't read the codes properly or the diagnos tool are cheap and doesn't work! What is your attitude toward (icar pro) diagnostic tool?I can buy it from Amazon and check it myself!!Also one of the mechanic told me I may have (25 bar) less manifold pressure! Thank you for the reply. 🙏🤚
@@masoudshalchi8313 if the mechanic is right about the bad manifold pressure, look for leaks around the intake manifold. See if any of the hose clamps are loose or broken. If there is a leak downstream of the MAF (Mass airflow sensor) then the engine is getting a lean mixture (too much air). That would make it run poorly when its cold for sure because that’s when it needs a rich mixture. Hope this helps.

Great video thanks for putting out on UA-cam. I’m headed to town now and gonna pick up some carb cleaner and try this on my 2005 Toyota echo. Hope it works thanks again 🤙🍀✨
I tried cleaning the ldle air control valve several times. I even took it apart and cleaned everything even the solenoid. I replaced it with a new one and voila , it fixed the problem. Cleaning old parts isnt always the best way !!!
True. If the spindle is damaged or corroded and won’ pivot smoothly, replacing it is the best choice. Mine has been fine after cleaning for 9 months. But it was in good shape when I inspected it but there was a lot of black deposit on it which I could clean off.
@@bobby3940 It might be a stuck idle control valve, but maybe not. Since its easy, just do what i recommend in the video and see i that fixes it. Good luck.
Can the egr valve cause it also? I had my egr valve changed not too long ago, and it’s since then it’s started stalling on cold starts. After the engine warms up. That’s when it goes away. This basically usually happens in the first 1 minute of driving off.
My one stalls after make first stop from engine starts always able to restart when its warmed up no stalls. rpm is stable enough engine power. No code on dash. Could be IAC?
I believe mine was stuck closed. When you start the cold engine it opens the valve to give air for the fast idle while the throttle is closed. If it can’t open, then engine dies. When you get it out you can tell right away if it opens and closes easily.

Thank you so much. This has been an ongoing problem with my truck. Ordering a new valve and hope it fixes it.
Very detailed video, keep up the quality work 👌🏼
Update. Over two years and the the cleaned idle control valve is still working fine.
It’s been a month and the cleaned up idle control valve is still working perfectly.😊

thank u all the way from the land of the long white cloud
Gotta do this on my 1988 civic.. just developed this issue

THANK YOU!
My tacoma stalls when I put ac on or headlights also when I reverse is this similar to what yours was doing? Only when cold
No. It was stalling unless i was pushing on the gas pedal. Does your stall when u put it in Drive, or just reverse?
sam washburn mines stall in reverse and neatral its a manual

sam washburn going to clean my throttle and map sensor today
sam washburn my rpm while i reverse or 1rst gear the rpm go up and down would this be a tps problem

It could be. EGR valves are pretty cheap, so replace the new one and see if that fixes it

I would clean the idle control valve. That may be the problem.
Thanks will do.
So you mean the valve should be stuck close? or half?
I believe mine was stuck closed. When you start the cold engine it opens the valve to give air for the fast idle while the throttle is closed. If it can’t open, then engine dies. When you get it out you can tell right away if it opens and closes easily.
thank for your useful information
