Just imagine you come back from a long tiring walk from school and it's snowing really heavily out side like a blizzard. And you open your door and in your living room you see him covering the canvas with green. And he goes "welcome back" and beams at you. Then all the snow melts off of you because that just warmed your little heart.
In every episode of this that I watch, I always have that moment where Bob Ross adds something to the painting and it looks ruined to me but then he makes it even more beautiful.
just imagine how happy he would be to live in this time, he could just start his own channel and upload videos that he would want, how long he would want, talk about anything he would want :(
Although I knew who Bob Ross was, I never watched the show, being from South America the spanish dubbed version was horrible. I'm watching these for the first time and I'm having a blast. Great to watch before bed too. It's also nice to see all these comments about childhood memories. It makes me feel lucky to be able to experience it so many years later.
Laurel K Me too. I enjoy all the sounds he makes, things he says. Just everything is comfortable, enlightening (brightens my day or helps me to sleep at night), confidant, comforting and relaxing. Like it centers me. Makes me think about my life in a different more positive way, making it a bit more simpler ☺.
Getting into Bob Ross has really made me want to learn how to paint like this. I love how simply he does it all, yet creates these incredible landscapes. Very inspiring. I also chuckle when at the end he says "we don't have enough time to add too much detail here, you can do more at home" when it's already brilliant!
+TheSemiMatrix Maybe not so much for his artwork (although he was a fantastic artist, his style may not be quite iconic enough but I can't tell the future and I know little about artwork) but definitely for his impact on the average painter. His impact will definitely be remembered in artistic history
+JKo Films Yeah, he will not be remembered like Van Gogh, Da Vinci or Picasso. But his artwork and show will definitely effect and motivate more people to feel the joy of painting.
+JKo Films Call me different, but I think Bob's wet on wet technique as learned from Alexander, will cement him as one of the most influential landscape painters of all time, at least for artists because of his technique and ability to paint nature at a very high level.
+TheSemiMatrix You must be kidding?! why don't you check other painters in youtube... not only that but Bob R. was a student of William Alexander who was the real teacher with this method or technique.
Alexander was not the founder of this technique. IT is a few hundred years old and comes from one of the great masters whose name i cannot at the moment remember
It's a great therapy if you lack confidence. Just let little accidents happen and don't worry too much and before you know it beautiful things start emerging you couldn't have imagined being able to make.
The background music isn't necessarily bad, I can understand why they thought they needed it in the beginning, but whoever made the decision to omit it deserves a footnote in television history. Maybe fans wrote in telling them to ditch the music in favor of Bob's voice and the sound of the canvas. Great to see these early episodes and see how the show developed.
The subdued guitar here is a lot better than the piano in the previous three episodes, which kind of overwhelmed his voice. Still best when they got rid of it entirely.
I like the groovy music in the background. But yes, for fans of asmr, and just Bob fans in general, he was the jewel of the show. It didn't need the music so much as it was just a little addition to the show. Maybe that's how liked to paint at home.

I've got an art academy education and still struggle with Bob Ross' technique. Now granted, I've done very little oil painting in my life (more acrylics/gouache type of guy) so that can be due to that. But it's true what he says, you've got to practice a lot even to get this seemingly simple technique down.
BOB R, TECHNIQUE ITS THE EASIEST OF ALL. IT IS VERY EASY AND IS FOR BEGINNERS. I started painting with William Alexander tv programs n the 70's and I did very nice paintings following his tutorials, Bob Ross was one of his students, and after William A. died (some people didn't like him because of his accent -Polish- ) btu painted very nicely, and he also painted other things beside landscapes.

+Lucifer Sam It was exactly the reason. Can't remember the episode but he explained that his knives were painted black and his brushes were duct taped to reduce glare.
I should check to be sure before I go and comment but I want to say that he mentions the pallet and brushes in the last episode of this first series. It is a question and answer episode with him and his son Steve. And yeah he mentions those things periodically throughout all the series. I think I've noticed that in some of the earlier series (1-6, before he changed to his own brand equipment) that he actually duct taped his knife. It looks all sloppy and weird and seems like it would be a pain to use and wipe off properly. But then when he went over to his own equipment (with the white handles) he spray painted the knives... And since I started painting recently, I have even been blinded by my own knife at times with the lighting I put up. I've been considering doing the same thing! Getting the lighting to not reflect off your painting seems to be an art form in itself. I've tried all types of bulbs and angles, it's actually a bit of a pain in the ass!

I am from Australia and just discovered Bob Ross. I lost my passion for art many years ago, raising a family of 5 took up all my time and art got locked away. I lost my eldest daughter before Christmas 2019, but also lost part of myself; when I came across Bob's art, my heart skipped a beat, a flame burst inside...I felt alive again. I have just done my first painting...in acrylics...because I couldn't wait for my oils to arrive. Used same techniques, worked quickly, and didn't add water, just wet brushes. Not quite the same effect, but passable. I cried when I found out he had passed so long ago, the world lost such a talented artist way to early. Even today he is teaching...me, right across the ocean. I hope I can make him proud. Respects to all his family and friends.
That comment about the dead tree hits home.. "he had just about enough and is ready to get washed away by the stream but until then.. he's part of the beauty of nature"
Its so beautiful Bob.Green is one of my favorite color. You have mastered the art of layering to come up with such wonderful works of art.The scene uv created seem so real and for that you have made me happy.Keep on painting Bob and spread joy to many...Thank you Bob.
I really love with how much passion he talks about his paintings and nature. I just watched the first Videos and never saw him before and I already think that if there were a person I would really like to talk with when I need some advice it would be him ^^ My favorite part of this episode were definetly when he put the dead tree in it and showed that it was still a beautiful part of nature.
Thank you so much for your lessons, I was afraid even close to the oil to come, and now I'm writing pictures that are sold for snatch! You're a genius!
I tried to paint like him and it doesn't work for me. I'm not giving up though. He does such beautiful work. I'm glad we are able to watch his shows on here.
Did you coat the canvas entirely first with white paint? That was his trick, the wet on wet technique -- wet paint on a wet canvas is what made his technique work.
In the PBS documentary "Bob Ross: The Happy Painter" the producers admitted the sound quality in these first season episodes is terrible. But even so, it's nice to see this humble beginning as Bob started out as Bill Alexander's protegee, using Bill's "almighty brush" memes while also developing his own quiet, positive low-key delivery that would later make him famous.
Nah they most likely did it on purpose. But yeah I get it, that whole "lul no one would dislike this video ever" meme that goes around a lot. "X people hit the dislike button because Y" kind of formula.
This a brilliant composition! You can almost hear the gurgling and bubbling of the stream over the rocks! Bob makes it so easy for anyone to paint beautiful works of art for their homes, offices, etc.

+Eliza Merenda Its a shame that we lost such a wise and brilliant man to the fate of the thing we identify as cancer.
Eliza Merenda Don't we all...
He isn’t dead. He lives on in our hearts and minds.
I am addicted to bob ross videos...
quit that adicton
Why?
I love this man and the fact that the videos have no adds
I really love with how much passion he talks about his paintings and nature. I just watched the first Videos and never saw him before and I already think that if there were a person I would really like to talk with when I need some advice it would be him ^^
My favorite part of this episode were definetly when he put the dead tree in it and showed that it was still a beautiful part of nature.
Thank you so much for your lessons, I was afraid even close to the oil to come, and now I'm writing pictures that are sold for snatch! You're a genius!
who dosent want to paint after this I want to paint now
Saaaaame but all i have is watercolor and copy paper... XD
Cool But Not Really i have neither T-T
Cool But Not Really I did that. It's not about things you have, but about those you can make.
@@fearlesstree6125 are your paints drying so fast like mine?
I started to appreciate nature more because of Bob.
This is so BEAUTIFUL....
The way you teach seems so easy to learn.
God's blessing on you sir.❤
Боб,вы замечательный художник.Я просто не могу оторваться от ваших работ.Настолько впечатляет.
I tried to paint like him and it doesn't work for me. I'm not giving up though. He does such beautiful work. I'm glad we are able to watch his shows on here.
And not giving up is exactly what Bob would tell you to do. He would believe in you and so do I!
Did you coat the canvas entirely first with white paint? That was his trick, the wet on wet technique -- wet paint on a wet canvas is what made his technique work.
He was amazing human been, and he is still teaching people, with his beautiful gentle voice. I bless God for you Bob, for I have learned so much. 💕💕
The outright BANGING in the background, at the very beginning of episode one, was hilariously epic!
Love the background music, so calm and relaxing.
he literally created a river in five minutes
"Literally?"
The Dude yes he "literally" did. (Basically it's so good it's like an actual river. Hope my English lessons helped you. Farewell)
I just love his every stroke of his colorful brushes fills joyful in everything feeling of love... With great love,s gift for on eve of new year...
Man, we need a Bob Ross day
. Kevin pinta este señor . No me canso de mirarlo como pinta . Gracias por dejarnos ver esa maravilla
The 86 people who've disliked this video are inhuman monsters whose hearts have no magic white.
King Starscreem not magic white. It’s magic Hwhite
I think they just made a happy little accident
This show is one of few things that touch my soul.
23 People must of accidentally hit the dislike button. But don't worry. There are no mistakes, just happy accidents.
+Tiny face Ginger Spoken like the man himself and Thank you for watching. Please subscribe and share bit.ly/BobRossSubscribe
It is Dis-I-Like
Nah they most likely did it on purpose. But yeah I get it, that whole "lul no one would dislike this video ever" meme that goes around a lot. "X people hit the dislike button because Y" kind of formula.
Billy Mays you need the dark in order to show the light

I SO enjoy watching his creativity and the cute little comments he makes as he paints. He was so amazing. 💙
The painting looked finished and ready to hang before even hitting the halfway mark. Shows what I know. Lol
This a brilliant composition! You can almost hear the gurgling and bubbling of the stream over the rocks! Bob makes it so easy for anyone to paint beautiful works of art for their homes, offices, etc.
Usually I am like "No! What is he doing?" But like 15 seconds later I'm like "Oh, ok that makes sense"
