Not gonna lie I don't think the average person cares about final cut pro being on the Ipad. I just wish it had more apps in general that could take advantage of the power.
I feel like the creators only mention fcpro but they probably mean to say "high end apps that need a lot of ram, such as fcpro." And it does make sense for them to criticize it, I mean a 16 gig ram and boy am I glad I'm using this 16gig ram to use my calculator app
On a normal ipad probably not but considering its called the iPad "pro" i'd imagine some high end apps.
An average person probably doesn't care but a professional would.
If you don’t use Final Cut Pro or other high end apps you don’t really even need such a powerful iPad anyway
a lot of people use other great 3rd party apps for video and content creation some youtubers use it full time as their man device for podcasting and video editing.
They should do a widget calculator, that would be dope

@@superEriccui Some of us thought (and wrote Medium thoughtpieces and blog entries) a decade ago in 2011 that the concept of Tablet Computing was meant to replace the entire traditional notion of Desktop Computing as an evolution in how we interact with the digital world.
Now, it’s becoming complimentary to desktop computing instead of replacing it, which is extremely frustrating for futurists who thought the mouse and keyboard would be a thing of the past… a lot of them looked to Apple for clues on what the future would look like. This is partially because the industry found out over the past decade that a touchscreen couldn’t truly replace some tactile input methods of controlling electronics.
A LOT of tech nerds thought Apple was going to replace the Mac with the iPad. This was the year that almost everyone thought it was going to happen with the introduction of the M1 SoC inside the iPad Pro.

I’ve used my IPad Pro for the last 3 years as my only PC it the experience for me has been fantastic.
My job is as Marketing Manager where I spent my day answering to emails, visiting customers, reviewing art work with the team and check the business intelligence tools. For all of this work I think the IPad Pro with magic keyboard is a fantastic tool.
Every time I see this reviews everyone focuses more on the capabilities in terms of video and photo edition. But for office work the IPad can be your main pc. I only use my Mac when i have to build marketing budgets on excel or really important presentations. But for my daily work the IPad is a fantastic tool.
Can’t you use excel or do great presentations on your ipad?

Exactly! It's kinda annoying that basically only some tech UA-camrs are always saying the iPad is not a Laptop replacement etc. just because it doesn't fit their super specific (video editing) needs. for Millions and millions of people, the iPad has replaced their laptops and even Desktops years ago.
If Apple had a slightly better Monitor support (instead of just mirroring the screen) I could even replace my desktop for like 99% of the stuff I'm doing, the only real exception being gaming.
@@Raja995mh33 this is an interesting perspective. I usually forget that people use these devices for other things. Personally for me most of my work revolves around video editing /composting etc so I very been considering getting one for work, mainly for creating graphics in Ps bit I've seen a lot of negative reviews about video editing etc--- but for me that's not an issue since we edit I'm house on the office machines

I too have tried to make the most usage from my iPad over a laptop, and while it's nice for traveling on planes, I'm still having to do more of my day to day work on a laptop, either my personal Macbook Pro or on my company issued HP Elitebook. I am excited to have widgets anywhere on the screen with iPadOS 15. I also think the new Note Features are going to be nice to have as well.
there are a lot of members in the iPad family, some released fairly recently. I don't think they will neglect the lower end models like the new iPad Airs or the entry point new iPad. expecting a new experience for only one of the iPads was stretching expectations far. maybe next year when more models catch up to m1 chips they can start phasing out the A series and focus on a newer experience.
I feel like Apple just doesn’t want the high end iPads to take sales away from lower end MacBooks like the Air. They want you to buy a laptop AND a tablet.

Well, the iPad is still, technically, a computer. Not like an actual computer, but in the same way like how a calculator or how a pair BT earbuds is a computer.
I bought an IPad Pro because of the apple pen and taking notes but I also was trying to use it as a real computer. By no means this ipad will ever be a real computer. I will still keep it to take notes but keep using my thinkpad as a computer.
M1 processor, 2TB Storage and 16GB of ram to move widgets and put apps in library. Nice!

No one is forcing you to buy the top spec model! The 11 inch base is the same as the 2020 iPad Pro in launch price but gives you more power, more RAM and TB3 so value compared to last year is excellent!

Thank you so much, I watched this before changing over, one of the little things I wanted changed was pip being able to get bigger instead of its limited size now. I’m sure that hasn’t changed. Anyway, great, comprehensive video that answered everything I wanted to know, and from a personable , cool guy!

Just ran the same experiment (albeit a bit forced as my MBP had to be serviced) and it really isn’t possible to work using an iPad Pro only. Glad to hear the same conclusion from you!

I was checking reviews in hopes of purchasing an iPad for Christmas 2022; Yes, I know it’s early to start looking, but I always keep the frame of mind that the early bird ( information in this case) always catches the best worms; when I saw your quote “expectation is the thief of Joy”. Had to like the video before I finished it. Thanks for years of keeping it brutal honest. That type of honesty is needed, not only in this tech world industry but in many other industries and real world situations as well.

Honestly at this point, solely because of the software, there is pretty much no reason to buy the M1 iPad besides for the screen. Hopefully in the future Apple with implement pro apps in the iPad.

Yeah bro when I got my iPad Pro a couple years ago I was like holy cow this is gonna replace my laptop as my main computer! And for awhile it did. But like MB was saying…. it’s time for big updates and this didn’t bring it.
Honestly the Mini-LED screen is extremely disappointing as much as the software. It's a very minor improvement and only 600 nit at full brightness, far from 1600 nit HDR capability that Apple had claimed.
I feel like a lot people buy iPad Pro because of 120hz screen gives you smooth handwriting
i quite like it. the screen is beautiful, the refresh rate is incredible, and the 16 gb memory helps a lot with everything staying open in recents

Making a dedicated weather app for the iPad is kinda pointless. It doesn't really matter if you check up the whether on a 6.1" screen or an 11" screen. The weather will remain the same, it's not a game or movie which can use the full potential of a big screen.
As long as Apple sells MacBooks, iPad will never be a laptop replacement.

Yeah but the iPhone can do everything an iPod could and more, so it was worth the risk. With replacing a Mac with an iPad, sure some people will be on board, but a lot of people aren't, because an ipad, even if it has final cut, cant do everything a Mac can.

The 16” MacBook Pro is also running the intel chip and Apple is moving towards the M1 as standard in house production so of course they would make something a year later that out performs it to give buyers incentive to make the transition.

Purely from a Profit/ Revenue per device - Consumers are more inclined to buy an iPad compared to an iPod. More money for apple in this category.
plus until apple figures out to stream apple music on the Shuffle line up or the least featured iPod line up they wont be re-introducing it.

I am hoping for ios to someday allow full version of MS apps like Word, Excel, Access, etc. The current Word and Excel apps even with a MS 365 account is just plain awful!!!! I currently have the ipad pro 9.7” and I can’t see forking out so much money for a new ipad if I can’t use the MS apps like I do on a pc or laptop.
I just got the iPad Air 2020!!!!! I'm really hoping that these updates help out

Multi-tasking isn’t important on the smaller 11” I never find myself needing multiple windows open, it’s so fluid to switch between apps with the gestures.
Intro music was DOPE.
I mean…I’ve used my iPad full time since probably around 2016ish. I’m 2 years into a masters degree almost exclusively using my iPad. Not too shabby. Now, admittedly, I don’t have to produce videos or audio content, but besides that I can do anything and everything I need to. I have made video and audio content in the past. And I do agree, it would be nice to use Apple’s native video/audio software on iPad, Final Cut and Logic Pro. I sold my MacBook earlier this year and doubt I’ll get another.
I think the biggest issue with high expectations here was just how close the release of the M1 iPad Pro was to iPadOS 15's. The biggest takeaway I got from your own review on the iPad Pro was that they're clearly setting up for the future...I just don't think it was gonna be this near of a future.
Let's give it till 16, maybe lol

"Expectations are the thief of joy" also ringing true with the Nintendo Switch oled announcement. It's a decent hardware revision, but it's definitely not the "Switch Pro" everyone was hoping for.

9:31 - no weather app.... Boy I remember being confused by this with my first iPad... I've never bought an iPad since... (because being the early adopter for the iPad was about the harshest it can get as far as early adopting Apple things goes). Still, I loved the thing so much , but it's still somehow just as hard a sell 11 years later... cause it still is just "a big iPod touch."

Right! I use Luma (in conjunction with FCPX) and it’s outstanding. New features coming soon that will make it even more pro as well.

@@rafyta7 editing directly off an external drive, resizable UI, grading scopes, warp stabilizer, captioning and speed ramping. They’re not all coming out at the same time - they have 3 different updates scheduled to come out by the end of the year - but these (and some of the other new things coming) are pushing it ever closer to FCP for iPad.

As a beta user I like this update. It’s not a big one in terms of new features, but it really improves the experience in the ones were already there.
That wall clock is beautiful.
To me, iPad is where I will use on standing basis like roaming on the project site and bring all drawings with me in the iPad and make notes on it and distribute them to the related contractors/ parties, so basically is like a pen and paper, back to the office kit I continue the work on mac.
