If you have a bluetooth TV, AppleTV, you can also pair and switch audio output. BT connectivity today is common enough that the only special feature isn't special per se. I think this is a case where it's hard for Sonos to stand out in a market that already has many quality products at a fair price. IMO this is a really good thing because we're spoiled for excellent choice and the features that make these products good is now a know quantity.
Most people dont know theres the Bowers PX8, Bang Olufsen H95, Focal Bathys, Mark Levinson 5909, Master Dynamic MW75 etc these guys are $700+ so $450 is expensive but def not the most for wireless headphones lol
Their main customer draw for these is other Sonos owners, such as myself. I personally won't buy these but if AirPods Max don't get an upgrade, these are an option I am considering. But to Marques's point, these don't have Wi-Fi (would've been game changing) so why are these $450 when the competition is available for less, that's obviously his opinion but I can understand the argument he's making. please stop saying "Maybe I'm nitpicking.' these are US$450 headphones, there should be nothing to pick nits about when you can get something like the Sony WH-1000XM4's for $300 USD or less and in my opinion and many others', those are the best premium noise cancelling over ear headphones on the market.
I sprung for an upgrade from XM4 -> Momentum 4s. Not a night and day difference but I feel that the Momentum line as well as Sennheiser in general is really slept on in this conversation.
@@sennheiser I love the low end! Doesn’t mess with the rest of the mix, but it just packs a punch! They have been my preference over AirPods and XM4 for the last year.
I got a new pair of headphones... around December or January. After a bunch of research, I went with the Sennheiser Momentum 4 after my Vmoda Crossfade 2 headphones broke after maybe 2 or 3 years of use (the audio aux port was loose, the plastic bits connecting the adjusters to the straps broke, then one of the adjusters fell out of the strap). I've loved them. I use them as wireless 99% of the time but can swap to wired if I need 0 latency. They don't have the underlying buzzing that my vmoda had when audio was coming from bluetooth. Downsides- It's touch controls on the right ear cup which activate when taking them on and off. It is useful to start/ stop audio with it, but otherwise is more just annoying. It can be turned off with the app. Another thing, you can not turn off either active noise cancelling/ pass through. There is not an option for it to be passive only. I could not test it on site before buying them Unexpected upsides- Being able to connect to 2 bluetooth devices is nice. HOWEVER, make sure notifications are off, or else the bluetooth will start breaking up and wanting to send the audio from both devices at once. It is nice not wearing out the ports now, since I work from home and swap devices multiple times a day. I can also charge it while still listening to audio. On my vmodas, there was a squeal when charging, so I only used it wired. It also works with a magnetic USB charger cable, so even less wear on the headphones and the magnet will disconnect first before yanking the cord out of the headphones. Iirc, the momentum 4 is about $350, might be on sale now. Audio quality is great/ on par for the price range (from what audio graphs tell me), but I did turn the base EQ down a lot so it didn't shake my ears.

@@4ESTT or maybe just one minutes google search or asking chapgpt as someone acting like tech channel with so much subsribers? So whats next? sony is a camera company and google is a phone company next?
I work at one of the major players in this space. Think of it like this, increased isolation gives you a better signal-to-noise ratio, giving a better sound. Yeah, the headphone drivers aren't reference grade, but neither is your environment. Most people are using these out-and-about, so focusing on reducing environmental noise really does make for a better experience.
It's just diminishing returns for sound quality. They can invest 50% more money to make the sound 1% better while knowing that 1% of customers will notice or care. The market for people who will notice the difference in sound is very small and why the highest end headphones get so expensive. Whereas for noise cancellation, most people will notice that and pick one headphone over another for it.
We can all agree noise canceling is important for sound quality. However, I wish audiophile brands got more recognition. In the end, consumers need to educate themselves about sound quality or companies won't have an incentive to deliver.
Headphones have been sounding good since the 90s, sound quality is not really a driving point anymore for headphones above like $100. Unless you're a really critical listener, which obviously most consumers arent
Just a suggestion Marques, maybe have an affordable episode once a month or so. Love your work, at times would love your opinion on tech that's affordable by the masses. Like the wave pro headphones.

I get that these aren't perfect, or check every box that people were hoping that Sonos would check. And they are more expensive than I'd like.
But your summary of who might want to buy them hits me dead on. Just replaced a (not very good) LG soundbar with a Sonos Arc, and my wife goes to bed quite a bit earlier than I do. I _can_ listen to TV programming on my AirPod Pros, but only when the source is my Apple TV. I have a decent collection of physical media, and I've been working my way through a bunch of 4K UHD movies via Blu-ray player, and those can only go full volume over the Arc, not my AirPods. The Ace seems like it will work really nicely for me. Thanks!
Don't TVs already have Bluetooth, tho? I can connect my XM4s to my Sony TV over BT. That allows me to watch blu rays and play games with my headphones.

Indeed. But I guess this is a consumer tech channel, rather than an audiophile channel. I have the PX8s and am very happy with them.
In reality, Sonos is looking for profit.
@@alexfirth21why would you get these instead of the original AirPods Max? Marques literally says these sound muddier than the Max. The Max are still clearly better than this crap despite being, what, 3 years old now?
"The most" ain't the bar here. The Sonos are Bose-territory, not audiophile-land. And for that pricetag that's a strong no.

There should still be an audio cue of an ad read for those who are visually impaired or only listening as they’re driving.
1:05 bro did the rock look. Y’all should edit it with a vine boom😂😂😂
I could not test it on site before buying them
Unexpected upsides- Being able to connect to 2 bluetooth devices is nice.
Audio quality is great/ on par for the price range (from what audio graphs tell me), but I did turn the base EQ down a lot so it didn't shake my ears.
thank you!

Mkbhd taking Sonos down with this one 🔥🔥🔥
I don’t like that now headphone manufacturers are not pursuing better sound, but are trying to figure out how to remove sound more effectively.
Because removing sound is mostly software while better sound is mostly hardware
We can all agree noise canceling is important for sound quality. However, I wish audiophile brands got more recognition. In the end, consumers need to educate themselves about sound quality or companies won't have an incentive to deliver.
Headphones have been sounding good since the 90s, sound quality is not really a driving point anymore for headphones above like $100. Unless you're a really critical listener, which obviously most consumers arent
Just a suggestion Marques, maybe have an affordable episode once a month or so. Love your work, at times would love your opinion on tech that's affordable by the masses. Like the wave pro headphones.
