Great to see steel guitar continuing to grow in the mainstream which is helped by videos like this. Hope you get a pedal steel demo'd on here someday! Nice playing and lovely lap steel.
I’ve got the sparkle black Gretsch steel, but I took the stock bridge off and replaced it with a Duesenberg Multibender with 2nd, 3rd, and 6th string benders. Tuned to a open GMaj9 hybrid setup and bending a half tone on the 3rd and whole tone on the 2nd gives those beautiful “pedal steelesque” sounding bends. Effectively the 2nd and 3rd strings give you the very common “AB” pedal bends from a pedal steel, but at a fraction of the cost and a hell of a lot better portability. Still no true pedal steel guitar, but it’ll do.
I would like to hear Ben rocking out with the other guys. Despite the fact he is the mostly the "acoustic guy", I bet he could shred with the best of 'em 🎸🔥
Great playing. It's a great idea, persuade Pete. Not that I don't like Captain or Purple Pete, but it would be nice tto hear you playing with PP or Cap, or three of you together.
unfortunately with lap steels, I could never justify buying one outright when a regular guitar can be set up for slide and is infinitely more versatile... Could buy a nice Squier for the same price as one of these and would get much more play time than a lap steel
For open D / E / G, absolutely, but lapsteel has access to open 6 tunings that don’t work on round neck guitars. Bar slants also don’t work on round neck. It’s worth diving into IMO. Although I play lapsteel in a country band so I’m a little biased.
@@AgressiveElevatorMusic Correct, can't imagine B13 working on a guitar too well. I'm not a guitarist though so I could be wrong...🤣 The clean tone is way different too.
I own one of these............I find that the strings are too low......(Easy to scratch up the the fretboard) and they are too close together! That's why people are using an after market nut on them! Also the strings they come with are too light! Other than that I like it!
Admire the skill needed to play this type of instrument, unfortunately not something i would ever be able to do, unless someone comes up with a cure for being uncoordinated and non musical.

I never gave much thought to lap steels, but seeing vids like this makes me want to get one, they look really fun!
Love my Gretsch Lapsteel! I run A6 tuning on mine. C# E F# A C# E. Keeping that Western swing alive.
A afternoon course on lap steel stuff ... very much appreciated!
That C6 tuning has a very musical sound to it 👍🏼

Terrific playing. Always been tempted to dive into Lap Steel…
OMFG these sound incredible! Amazing playing, I went from watching Krisiun's new song to this and this is almost as good! I love seeing this guy play.
Proves what I've often thought, stick 6 strings on a plank and Ben can make music!
Wow, had no idea you were so accomplished on the lap steel! And thanks for recommending Sacred Steel. Went and found them immediately!

Is there anything Ben cannot rock out on? He rocks! 😎
Dammit, I never thought I wanted one of these, but now I do lol
great playing Ben!
he makes that look way easier than it is LOL. Awesome
Great sounds and playing!
Sounding very Lowell George! Lovely Stuff!
Awesome playing

Which pedal effects should go along?
That intro was hawt
Outro song sounded like it's the same key as Sandy's Texas song.
2:22 wait... was the Looney Tunes theme recorded with a lap steel guitar?? 🤯
Cool. And SOLD. Order to follow. Looks fun and loving that Hawaii tuning. Plug in to my rig and I’ll be Gilmouring too!!
Will there be video on the new gretsch colours? Mainly the solid bodies
Wow amazing
Actually, the 5700 is a near clone of the Gretsch Mainliner from 1963 .
What was the tuning on the red model? Thanks.
Open E
What is the Steve Howe tuning?

Left handed models?
So metal 🤘😆🤘
Andertons' own Ry Cooder
Part 2 to this video should be Ben teaching Lee to play lapsteel?
hmm, something else to fail at sounding like Gilmour with
Thanks, Ben. You're quite competent on the lap steel. I think it's a bit of a learning curve, but nothing compared to pedal steel.
Nowadays I just play Strats on my lap
Just put the tone pot where the Volume one is Volume at tone pot...
Do a sweep
That looks like an Argos one. Any plans to get one in that looks cool?

I play Strats on my lap for this reason
You can get a Harley Benton lapsteel for $80
@@AgressiveElevatorMusic youre biased but your absolutely correct!

I have a Pettingil with two Bare Knuckle Humbuckers......
Robert Randolph kinda vibes.
Aubrey Ghent.
If you don’t know him, you should.

I don't send telegrams 🤣😂🤣
Since its in open tuning I'd imagine it'd be pretty easy to get good sounds from.
Ok, I have to know what one of these sounds like with a Kirk Hammett drenched wha-wha attached to it. For science of course.
Look up “Keep it Together” by Ben Harper and Relentless 7
Behind this sound I hear "Hey Ned! Get orff ya dang Sista. Iz mah turn!"
Aren't you a delight?
Shades of Little Feat there...
Fat Man In The Bathtub!
(...ask yer Dad...🤣👍)
Great playing but horrible lap steel,Gretsch screwed up, the nut spacing is the width of a Gibson les Laps should be 1 7/8 ths
