I have been playing guitar, bass and mandolin for more than 50 years now. My daughter brought me a lap steel last week and I am enjoying it very much but after hearing this I am intimidated beyond belief. Great job on a beautiful tune! If I have another 50 years I may be able to copy that.
Brilliant! Very rarely someone's rendition of a song makes me a bigger fan of the song. That's the case here. I am a 48 year old musician and connoisseur of fine music. I rarely give compliments on UA-cam and I'm probably too vocal with criticisms. But this is world class stuff right here. The intro especially is the most artistic thing I've seen in a very long time.
Oh man Luke you're killing me. I was 16 when this album came out. 1969 was a magical summer for me. This was so beautifully done that it made me cry. I never thought back then that I'd become the "Old man" but I did. lol You're brilliant. Thank you Luke.
I'm only 32, but the further away I get from "24 and there's so much more", the sadder the song gets! Though I wasn't around for 1969, I did grow up with two awesome baby boomer parents who played this album often (along with After the Gold Rush). It's one of my all-time favorites, and "Old Man" is just...mmm!

I bought a new steel slide guitar a couple month's ago in a pawn shop. I had no idea what I would find or what I was looking for. I usually look around every couple weeks. It was on a regular guitar stand. Sitting up on the row on the floor. When I saw it I'm like WOW. When I picked it up to look at it . It wouldn't leave my hands. I have never seen one in a store of any kind that I have been. Well I haven't learned how to play slide guitar. One day I shall learn. This video is very inspiring.
