I've been watching Andertons videos for nearly a decade now. When I started, Lee's playing was like mine still is. Today, for the first time, I had to stop and check who was playing solo on the opening jam. Timing and tone harnessed in the service of musicality. Wow!
My late father started his musical journey with a Brooklyn made 6124 Single Anniversary in 1958, which I still have. Fabulous easy playable neck and bags of character. These do look worthy of carrying the Gretsch name and sound great.
@@tompoynton Meh. Not exactly. Not as much that you would figure something of that age would be worth and It was pretty badly trashed when I got it, but it was restored really sympathetically. The whole story of it is on one of Mary Spender's Guitar Stories on her UA-cam channel. Its a family heirloom. Its insured for enough, but its irreplaceable and theres less than 100 of them left that Gretsch know about worldwide.
I went shopping for an Epiphone ES-335 today and ended up coming home with one of those anniversary edition G5230T models. They are absolutely stunning looking in person. I'm usually pretty pedestrian in my choice of guitar choices and go for a wood grain burst type finish, but the second I saw it I had to have it. My wife uncharacteristically encouraged me to buy it because she said I had the biggest grin on my face playing it and and she'd never seen me so happy with a guitar. Plays like a dream and sounds wonderful. Buy one before they're gone.
People complaining of tunning instability Ive owned one for months and I don't find issues with tuning stability even if I leave it alone for a week or use Bixby
Had to pause the video when Pete played the Jet through the cloudburst and work out those chords, incredible playing! I loved the old videos with Chappers, he had an amazing ability to sound like himself irrespective of what he was playing but Pete is like a style chameleon, he can play anything and switch in a moments notice. Pete is my guitar hero!
Wow, the guitars are really nice! That was a cool jam to begin the video too. We all know Pete can throw down and he did so here, but Capt! Those were some really nice phrases you played! These guitars brought out something different from you guys than the usual Les Pauls and Strats. I love the guitars, and I love how you both played them. Cheers!
New subscriber from the US midwest and really enjoying the channel and the playing. This is the first real look I've seen of these great new Gretsch models. Thanks guys.
So Very Cool, Thankyou. Just by coincidence today I got my Gretsch Electromatic G5215 Single Cut Single pickup Rock Machine out to record some UA-cam videos. I also have a G5248T. Such amazing guitars and such fun and a pleasure to play. A full hollowbody Electromatic Gretsch is in my future. Cheers
I think I've watched this video seven times already in the last 2 hours. These are the coolest guitars I've ever seen. I really hope I'm able to save up enough money for the solid body before they sell out 😩❤️
I have a GT 427 Granch midnight blue with tombstone threat markers. I love this guitar. It’s beautiful Gretchen makes beautiful guitars. I am very happy with mine.👍🏼👍🏼🎸😎💖
Bought me an electromatic G5420T a few years ago, flat wounds on it, killer for a clear jazz tone, and was my main for a while, before I stopped having a main and just alternated between everything all the time.
The 6118 is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!!!! Gretsch are the ONLY guitar I've ever pulled out of a box, tuned and played like a dream right away. Perfectly built!
I want to buy the Gretsch G5410T . I've been looking at ads and the color doesn't look the same? as the one that you guys have? It looks like it is off white, which I don't care for. is that one a special color? or is it the lighting on the ads? One more thing Lee, nice and tasteful guitar playing. That left hand is perfect, that baby finger is right where it should be. Very few guitar players can do that. The baby finger is usually flying all over the place. Great control!!!!
I got one. I'm hooked, sounds so good. The G5410T, AKA: the Rat Rod, only comes in three colors: metallic gray, white and a matte black, but it's very similar to the full hollowbody that Lee (think I got his name right, apologies if not) is playing on the opening.
Few things. I LOVE everything about Gretsch guitars except the gloss necks. If I were to get one of these, would or should I sand the neck down a touch? Secondly I am so glad Pete got a Cloud Burst on his board so quickly. Lastly, after watching nearly every video for the last few years, watching Captain's playing progress is amazing and inspiring! One of my favorite and go-to channels on the tube.
First, I used to think the same way. I have a Gretsch 5420t, a PRS hollowbody Piezo and I will definitely say I think there isn’t as much to it as some would have you believe. Second, if you got one of the electromatics, you absolutely could tape the body off and use some scotch bright pads to put your own satin neck on the guitar. No big deal. I wouldn’t recommend it on a Japanese model (6118 etc.) because you will lose value. I thought I would have to do the same, and now a few years in, it makes no difference to me.
The person to invite to speak about Gretsch is Randy Bachman. He is a major collector of Gretsch and frequently offers guitars from his collection for display purposes.
I saw Gilmour, 2003, Royal Festival Hall, London. He played Gretsch mainly, no black strat, o and acoustic guitar of course. Shine on you crazy diamond on Gretsch. Were amazing.
Thanks for that reference. I just watched on UA-cam David Gilmour’s Royal Festival Hall “Meltdown festival” performance of Comfortably Numb with his Gretsch on the solos. I’m blown away.
I don’t normally like white guitars, but that one I really like white and blue that is beautiful. It looks like the one I have but mine is one of the solid color besides the binding of chorus, but I think again these guitars are beautiful especially for the money you can’t go wrong.
i have a G5420T and I do love it but I wouldn't call it incredibly versatile. Maybe this one has different pick ups, but mine basically does the Gretsch thing then the Gretsch thing but rolled off, mainly play in middle position with a nice blend of both pickups and it's sweet. I got a half ok metal tone out of it the other week but that's guitar rig 6 doing all the heavy lifting. Great guitar though, feels and plays great but like the Captain I mainly use mine to play acoustic round the house as i don't own a real acoustic. My latest UA-cam track a song for Brianna Ghey was this guitar actually and I got a weird enough non-gretschy tone out of it but would you say that's the guitar or just guitar rig? Hard to say.
Those LTD 140 models look great, but there are some hot colours on the current ranges... Ocean Turquoise on a Doublejet, fairlane blue on the Jet two 90, and Petrol on the Jet Two 90 Trem! How much can I get for a kidney?
Tell you what I love about my Gretsch 5422TG and my Rat Rod (apart from the fact that they're excellent guitars with great sounds, playability and looks) - both of them have a little sticker on the back of the headstock with that symbol that tells you you're not allowed to chuck 'em in the bin! That makes me laugh every time I see it... 😄
I've just ordered myself one I'm looking forward to getting it I have a 135th anniversary now I have the 140 anniversary hurry up I say before they're all gone once they're gone they gone and then you'll have to go to the second hand market 🇭🇲👍🇭🇲😁
Was this recorded at evening time? I'd love to know. For the record: I have watched (and am typing) in my evening time... You know; jim jams, spliff, glass of Ribera... Thought I caught a hint of Evening Hours. I loved it. Great guitars and priceless playing (as usual) from Señor Pete (el Danés). Big love from Spain
Who made the backing track? Nicely done on showing the three anniversary visions. Captain you are coming along with your playing it is quite noticeable. Great job.
Beautiful guitars! Love Gretsch! I regret selling a vintage Gretsch Chet Atkins Tennessean but my fat fingers just tripped over themselves but it had such a uniquely Gretsch tone. Are there any models with a full 1.75 inch neck width? Your playing, both of you, is phenomenal! Thank You!
I love my Gretsch with Broad'tron pickups in a jet style Affordable but what a sound . I can make it sound like Geragr Harrison's 60 something Gretsch Duo Jet. Have always loved Gretsch guitars even though I own Fender guitars and amps. BTW most folk say how much they love my Gretsch. Gretsch are still doing it well.
Still wondering what is the amp head at the right between the Victory head and cab, looks cool with the big knobs like an old radio, does someone know?
Can we just take a minute and appreciate The Captain’s playing, Bravo Good sir!
It had a touch of listening to Derek Trucks and John Mayer going back and forth.
The Captain playing has come along way!! Bravo
Agree 100%
Yep, I no longer hear him thinking of what to play, it just comes out. Well done, sir.
Tasty! 😊👍🏻
I've been watching Andertons videos for nearly a decade now. When I started, Lee's playing was like mine still is. Today, for the first time, I had to stop and check who was playing solo on the opening jam. Timing and tone harnessed in the service of musicality. Wow!
Mr Anderton sir , can I just say your tone and feel in that intro was awsome.
My late father started his musical journey with a Brooklyn made 6124 Single Anniversary in 1958, which I still have. Fabulous easy playable neck and bags of character. These do look worthy of carrying the Gretsch name and sound great.
Phwoar that must be worth a pretty penny

@@stevem-h3562 even more valuable then, can’t put a price on something like that!
What a beautiful color. I have the 5655TG in Aspen Green and I love it but that blue is lovely.
I have one of those in black.. the electronics are a little all or nothing compared to the Korean made single cut

Plays like a dream and sounds wonderful. Buy one before they're gone.
I had the opportunity to snag one before they went out of production. Sweetest playing guitar I've touched.
lee, you’re playing, and especially your feel is getting *so good.
People complaining of tunning instability Ive owned one for months and I don't find issues with tuning stability even if I leave it alone for a week or use Bixby
same here no issue tuning stability and I use bixby alot
That outro jam .. dang Pete! That's a shedload of feel in there.
Had to pause the video when Pete played the Jet through the cloudburst and work out those chords, incredible playing!

Gretsch always seems to have the coolest looking guitars. I would love to see some of the Pro Line with those finishes
Best guitars ever made! I like Yamaha and Fender for commercial Basses
Such beautiful guitars! Cannot get over how clean they look, and not to mention, sound
New subscriber from the US midwest and really enjoying the channel and the playing. This is the first real look I've seen of these great new Gretsch models. Thanks guys.
I liked the third one what ever it's called. They seem to have a lot going on in the 2kHz range.
G5622T-140 is the model; I just picked one up last week and love the aesthetics and tone.
Fantastic tone! You guys played great today! Greetings from New York!
Wow! The intro jam and the outro jam were ridiculously good!
So Very Cool, Thankyou. Just by coincidence today I got my Gretsch Electromatic G5215 Single Cut Single pickup Rock Machine out to record some UA-cam videos. I also have a G5248T. I love these. Gretsch make a fantastic rock guitar. I use a country gent in a post punk band. Lots of fuzz and power chords
I own an Electromatic Jet and a Streamliner Centerblock, and I have never heard a bad Gretsch tone. They are still my go to guitars.
OH DEAR GOD THE GRETCH AND THE CLOUDBURST, A MACH MADE IN HEAVEN.
Such a beautiful tone. I was waiting for Pete playing the intro to 'Suspicious Minds' on that hollow though!
I think I've watched this video seven times already in the last 2 hours. These are the coolest guitars I've ever seen. I really hope I'm able to save up enough money for the solid body before they sell out 😩❤️
Did you get one
The flipped one is flippin# beautiful. Jeeeez.
Lovely work, Lee

Lee is killing it in the intro
That is just f#cking lovely, glorious tone!
Good to see the traditional Gretsch hump block inlays
Love my Gretsch! These new ones are beautys.
I just pre-ordered the 5230. Not from Anderton, because I'm a yankee, but I do appreciate this channel.
The 6118 is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!!!! Gretsch are the ONLY guitar I've ever pulled out of a box, tuned and played like a dream right away. Perfectly built!
I’m still partial to the green 6118
Awesome looking and sounding guitars! I want to see the double cut solid body!
Lee and Pete. I’m a big fan of you both never miss your videos I’m from. Central ny USA
That Gretsch Paul sounds gorgeous.
Liked the little Jet's tone the most in this video.
Just pulled the trigger on the last Jet in stock at zzounds, friday is gunna be a great day!
20:00 great sound there
I'm so glad my first guitar was a centre block Electromatic Gretch. It's awesome and beautiful..and it has saved me from wanting to buy one of these.

Lee ate his Wheaties this morning!! Wow, fantastic playing sir.. Not often you make Pete look bad!! Hah!! 🤣
The Capt playing a little neo soul nice intro jam!
10:34 Wow the Mic caught that FART! lol
I always associated Gretsch with David Gilmour and John Frusciante :) Definitely like the White Falcon vibe going on there.
Funny you should say DG because although I realise he’s played a Gretsch it’s quite rare.
Gilmore is famous for the black strat if anything

This is really the TopGear of guitar shows ❤
I mainly associate the singlecut Gretsch models with Chris Cornell around the time of super unknown, so they definitely do heavy
Someone had an extra spoon of vibe in their coffee this morning 🤌
Billy Duffy rocks a Gretsch
Got lost in the intro man that was beautiful
That outro jam 😍
I was looking to get a 5230T or 5420T. Might have to ask my local dealer if he can get these. 🤔
Can we get the backing track to the outro solo at the end? I would love to play over that!
Wbite guitar is absolutely beautiful.

Electric Mud was great too.
Great color, they sound fantastic! Illuminati guitar channel - I love it.
Gotta love a Gretsch!

Yo, those licks were smooth man…
Tasty and relaxing. Nice!
Oh wow this color!
The style Pete is playing was similar to the one the Pete Townshend used for Who's Next. Gifted to him by Joe Walsh 👍🏻😎💯
140 years. 😮
I've just ordered myself one I'm looking forward to getting it I have a 135th anniversary now I have the 140 anniversary hurry up I say before they're all gone once they're gone they gone and then you'll have to go to the second hand market 🇭🇲👍🇭🇲😁
Are you still doing the rest of the lineup? Greats stuff as always.
Great video as always chaps 👌. Think Pete needs to add a couple of gretsch s to his collection 👍
Was this recorded at evening time? I'd love to know.

Big love from Spain
I was thinking about buying a Gretsch after all these years, hell I don't know if I'm worthy or not, but dang, I deserve it.
They Look and Sound very good...
Anywhere we can get the backing track to the outro solo?
The hollowbody looks mint! :-) Why didn´t they do white top on the center block?????
Do they come Left Handed as well?
Duescenberg and Gretsch guitars are the dopest I believe.
Who made the backing track? Nicely done on showing the three anniversary visions. Captain you are coming along with your playing it is quite noticeable. Great job.
Where would these ones be made they look absolutely stunning

Great guitar’s 🎸

What pedal are you using at around 14.00
The 5622t has blacktop broadtrons and the 5420 has ft 5e filtertrons

Nice tones gents
I think I would go with the pro jet for these editions
Do these come with a a Case ?
Boys, what is that pedal which give you some kind of organ or at least massive sustain?
That symbol on the back is the double platinum symbol which is what the 140th anniversary is.
Now all we need is the special "Anderton's Pete Honore inspired hands" sale.....
140th anniversary.. You don't see that a lot wow
Beautiful guitars for sure, but the star of this video was Pete's outro!
You guys need to start releasing videos of Pete's greatest jams
Okay, its that new cloudburst!!!!
Yeah man, did you get one, how is it?
Still wondering what is the amp head at the right between the Victory head and cab, looks cool with the big knobs like an old radio, does someone know?
It’s a boss re-201 space echo unit
@@chrisgallardo2130 thank you ok not an amp 😊
Love these guitars though my pockets are too shallow
🔝 fine looking !!!
