The blend of guitar nerdery with your fantastic knowledge of theory, mixed with a great on screen presentation style make for compelling viewing. Thanks for all you provide.
@@timpierceguitar I would add that something else I get from your videos is how strongly you hold to your values. You've spoken a number of times of how you always aim to give of your best in your session playing, no matter how the artist behaves. Wise words I take on board - not as a session guitarist (well, only in my dreams 😅) but as someone who also sells a service to others and strives to give of his best.
Hearing the chorus to “Seeds” on the radio as a kid made me a Beatles fan before I even knew what that meant. The “Hello, Goodbye” progression, the little “Penny Lane” horn lines…it sowed the seeds of Beatlemania in my 9-year old soul.

1000% agree. I watch mostly for the first 90 or so, during which Tim is always virtuosic and joyful. I learn so much about solo melody from hearing him play - an absolute master.
It's always a pleasure to watch Tim Play. He gets such a kick out of making good music ... like he's eternally grateful for the talent and accepting of all the hard work he put into becoming such a great musician. His positivity jumps out of the screen.
I think everyone here would agree... It wouldn't matter if it was a $100.00 pawn shop guitar or a super expensive collectable from Norm's, in the hands of Tim Pierce it's GOING to sound amazing! Like a woodworker of years gone by, a master of his trade can make magic happen even with a single chisel and knowledge. Thanks Tim for always providing great content and sharing your vast wealth of knowledge and experience!
When I am down, lose my bounce, haven't played guitar for a while, or need a 'friendly face' Tim Pierce just gives me a lift. You'll never meet me in real life, but thankyou for just being an awesome person and a kind hearted man!
Thank you Tim for your review. I have purchased 2 Gretsch Electromatics in 2021, both below $1K each, and am also very happy with the build quality and sound. They are both keepers in my guitarsenal.
This is one of my desert island discs, I bought this on cassette when it came out and played it on repeat until the cassette literally died. I am a big fan of TFF, they write such interesting songs, both musically and lyrically. There aren't many bands that do this kind of thing anymore and that's such a shame. Thank you for featuring them in this video, Tim!
I bought one on the basis of this video. Went in the shop to try it out and I was blown away by how responsive and beautiful it was to play. Recently discovered it's an amazing guitar to play slide on (high radius). Even with 11's on it's so easy to push the strings around compared to my Strat(alike), so easy to play
This is a great song! I bought a Gretsch G5655TG in Azure Blue, loved the way it played but I did find that the Bigsby tremolo did occasionally effect tuning in its stock form. For me the Broad'tron pickups lacked the jangly warmth that you normally encounter on Gretsch's more expensive guitars, so I installed a TV Jones classic Filter'tron in the neck position and a Power'tron Plus in the bridge position. It now has that ultra clean Gretsch sound for the neck pickup and a super gritty AC/DC sound on the bridge pickup. For the tuning stability issues, I added a penny under the tremolo spring, installed a true graphite nut, waxed the bridge saddles and installed locking tuners. So far that has fixed the tuning problems. It is now one of my favorite guitars!
Just got my first Gretsch guitar as a birthday present to myself. Under $1000. I got it set up by my local luthier, and plugged it in. The sounds is astounding and plays like a dream. Very happy and loved your video touting this brand. Love your vlog! Keep up the great work.
First saw Tim on UK TV doing a mime along performance in 1983 of 'Souls' with Rick Springfield from Living in Oz which I then purchased on the strength of that appearance on a popular late afternoon show here in England, and became an instant Tim Pierce fan from that point, his lead solos on Souls made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Although a hard rock and metal lead player of just over 50 years now, started age nine and mostly play Floyd equipped guitars, these Gretch models are gorgeous.
I bought a Gretsch G619T FT Players in Red Sparkle and I get all giddy at how easy it plays! And the tone(s) are beautiful and vast! The red sparkle finish is just wonderful! Thank you Tim for the lifetime of great memories and your awesome Master Class!
Hey Tim, They are both beauties. I encourage anyone who has never touched a Gretsch to DO IT NOW. I am a beginner and am actually buying a G5422TG Walnut Stain right now, if it is discontinued I am getting a G6522T Georgia Green. I decided to treat myself to a Christmas gift. I had never even looked at Gretsch until 5 weeks ago and as soon as I played one I gave up looking elsewhere. I played a very similar model to the G5422TG and as soon as a note rang out I knew I had to have one of their guitars. I looked at the Nashville DC you played but it is out of my range right now. Tears for Fears hands down one of the most underrated bands of their era. huge hits but I never truly appreciated their sound until I started learning theory (you helped!). Hope you had a great Christmas, cheers from Halifax Canada. Love your videos.
Tim deep diving Toy Matinee was the most excited I’d ever been watching his videos, but him discussing the often overlooked brilliance of TFF, 1 of my top 3 favorite bands of all time, has met & possibly exceeded that excitement! My only complaint is that I wish it was significantly longer!
Got a Gretsch G5422TG Eletromatic a few years ago Oh My it is the one that I will play for hours and forget about everything else... Yea I love my home brew frankenstrat that gets a lot of use it gets the job done the Gretsch just inspires!
This song and the album as a whole transports me back to my youth. One of my all time favourite albums that I played to death. Thanks for making this video. I’ve also been on a Gretsch kick for the past 2 years and now own 3 players edition (2 Duo Jets and a Broadkaster Jr), with my black duo jet now my main gigging guitar. I used to take a Les Paul and Tele to most gigs. Now I take a Gretsch instead of the LP and hardly ever put it down. The Gretsch just covers so much ground but I wouldn’t be playing one if it wasn’t for the players edition. Fender has done an amazing job making these classic guitars so much better. The necks are so consistent, are just the right size and shape, and they play so well it’s hard to believe it’s a Gretsch.
I just bought a Gretsch Electromatic Double Jet. She's a beauty. I love those clean looking fretboards with the crescent sliver fret inlays on the edge.
I own two modern Gretsch guitars and they are fantastic instruments. SO MUCH guitar for the money! Both used and both purchased for under $500. I have more expensive guitars but these are serious contenders in my line up of gear. Just astounding how good the quality is at those price points.
Hi Tim - Wonderful playing as always! I'm really enjoying your Masterclass - there's so much to inspire players at every level and your presentation and explanation of everything is just fantastic. That big hollow-body Gretsch looks and sounds great. I've entered the draw and wish good luck to everyone else who does too. Someone's in for a real treat! Thanks so much for donating it as a prize.
Another great video Tim. Yes, I'm amazed at the quality of the guitars coming out of Asia these days. Not just Gretsch, but many others as well. The playability at these price points is incredible. And many of them arrive just smoking good without needing all of the tweaks we have been doing for years.
LOVE THE TEAM at SWEETWATER! So much so, that in 2021 I've purchased: ✔ Gibson Les Paul Studio ✔ Fender Strat HSS Floyd Player ✔ Roland GR-55 And my most recent (and REALLY loving...) ✔ Kramer Vintage Baretta. (Plus odds and ends aside.) SWEETWATER and TIM PIERCE... Now that's what I call, "A Merry Christmas to all!"
The Streamliner and Electromatic series are amazing value. No flaws other than tuners. I've bought 3 this past year for less than $300 new on sale. Fit and finish is up there with guitars I've owned that cost 15-20x more including Collings
Love it! This was the radio hit while “Woman In Chains” and “Badman’s Song” got overshadowed. I LOVE these first two tracks in particular from this album. The making of this album was so incredible in the late 80’s as they shunned drum machines and synths and brought on killer musicians, not the least of which, Oleta Adams! I have the Mobile Fidelity vinyl and still listen to it!
I find it interesting that many UK bands have a very unique sound and lyrically they somehow seem to have a different punch. Whether that is upbringing or pre-production input from the studio, i dunno, but TFF is a prime example. Not flashy, not kitschy, and every song is kinda different than the last.
@@justindaley2460 i don't listen to the radio anymore so occasionally when i hear these songs from my childhood, I now here a totally different song. These guys are much much better musically than I thought. I tend to write off a lot of 80's music as typical overproduced yuck, then once in a while I hear stuff like them and go "wow. What did i miss"
@@justindaley2460 will-do. I only listen to Phish right now, have been for 6 years. Yes, I know.... cwazy 🤪. But I am teaching myself guitar and branching back out, so I will give that song a look today. Cheers
Love, love the current Gretsch models. They are way more comfortable to play than others in this style, and they sound fantastic. People are shocked that they can play everything from jazz to heavy rock. Try ‘em!
Hi Tim, love your channel. I was fortunate enough to see Tears do this song live when the album was released. Truly fantastic. And Oleta Adams was playing and singing. Pure gold!!!
I used to love playing over 'Seeds Of Love' back in the early 90's when it came out. I play a '76 Roc-Jet which feels and sounds great too, has a low action with vintage frets and TV Jones pups. Another great vid!
which color? I am buying a Georgia Green. The Aspen is out of stock until June and I can't wait, and I have a feeling my first choice, the G5422TG Walnut is Disc.
@@jimmythefish it is nice, but i found some pics of the greens in real settings and fell for them. I usually prefer opaque paint on guitars, but hats off to you, the Imperial is snazzy
Thank you highlighting some great Gretsch guitars. Of course they sound terrific in your hands. The G6620T is a beast of a Gretsch - love that model. So disappointed when I didn't receive the email telling me I had won the G5420TG. I have since ordered a G5422TG - walnut stain. Yeah you guessed it - similar to the Country Gentleman I owned in the early 70's. The one that got away. It should arrive soon and costs about 3K less the G6620T. Keep up the wonderfully informative and entertaining videos Tim. You are the man.
Hey Tim, recently found you thru Rick Beato. I'm a keys player but I have to say I love your playing and watch your channel regularly... anything musical gets my interest. This vid is extra special cos this track is one of my faves too 😎 Cheers brother.
Wow! Thanks for this, Tim! wonderful playing and demo - love your enthusiasm (well-deserved!) for these gems! Last spring I got a Gretsch Streamliner Jr. w/Bigsby. Its a double-cut centerblock semi-hollowbody with Broad'tron pups but only 13" across! Very light weight! Incredibly well-built, appointed and finished (Indonesia). Like you, I dropped the action WAY down - no buzz, straight neck, put on locking tuners (Grover rotos - drop-in replacement), put on a roller bridge & softer trem spring from Reverend - also drop-in (total $30) and lastly, just put on a set of Thomastik-Infeld flatwounds. OMG - she's now my #1. Total $ less than $600. Getting a great guitar is awesome. Knowing it was such a high value proposition only adds to the glee! ...AND it's a Gretsch!
I bought the Sweetwater 5420 two years ago because I'd always wanted a semi-hollowbody guitar, and I always wanted a Gretsch, so when I saw this guitar go on sale I bought it. I absolutely love it. The build quality is extremely good, just as Tim states. The case is great too, but extra $$$. I had to do some personalized setup but once I got it dialed in, it plays great. I wasn't prepared for the thickness of the body initially but I eventually got used to it. No regrets at all. Thanks Tim...
I've been playing for close to 30 years, and never gave a thought about Gretsch guitars. When i saw their lowest base model on Marketplace, i thought i'd give it a try, just for fun. Fast forward two months later, i am now the proud owner of a brand new G5422TG and couldn't be happier about it!! Sounds, feel...it has everything!! Great video Tim!!
I have a EBMM St.Vincent, a Gibson Hummingbird, a '66 Harmony Rocket, a Schecter FRS, and a Gretsch g2420 streamliner. Out of all of these my $400 Gretsch is by far the easiest one to play, with the lowest action too. The thing practically plays itself. Super impressed with Gretsch!
There are not many people that have that much enthusiasm in their playing but you certainly exude joy every time you play. Wonderful stuff. And these guitars are absolutely great. I would be thrilled to have either of them. They would be perfect for many styles of music. I am currently learning a lot of the Beatles songs and these guitars would sound great for all of the licks and chords that George played. Great video as always! Love your touch and tone Tim!!!
I just purchased my first Gretsch a few days ago. I ended up getting a bunch of Guitar Center gift cards for the holidays. I went in with something totally different in mind, but when I saw this Streamliner still on sale I pulled the trigger. It turned out the sale ended on Christmas eve, but Guitar Center honored the sale price on the tag. After polishing the frets and a new set of strings it is the best guitar in my collection.
I wore out my old roommates TFF Live cassette. Great Album. Tim I enjoy you videos love your playing your vibe I watching you navigate the guitar effortlessly and seeing it being the joy to your face is infectious. Plus the info I learn about gear. One of my favorite UA-camrs fo show!
Several years ago I bought a Gretsch Electromatic 5120. It played pretty well, but the stock pickups were less than desirable. The hardware was mostly chrome and brushed metal. I changed all the hardware over to gold, including a better quality Bigsby. I then installed a set of gold Fralin Unbuckers wired to a push/pull pot in one of the tone controls. There’s way more twang for your buck, and it looks amazing.
Tim, your videos are always good, but this one is evolutionary with the editing, the use of titles and pictures and music, it’s more of a music video than a UA-cam video, well done.
Great stuff. We share some old friends. CJ and then I was in a band with Leonard's guitar player from Trillion in Chicago Frank Barbalace. Great player too. Great memories. I am 67 now. Seems like yesterday. Followed your career and Luke's too. Incredible.
Tim, thanks for the ever-contagious smile, brother. I recently inherited a 5420T in Fairlane Blue, and it has truly made a Gretsch-convert out of me. Reminds me (a little, anyway) of the Guild Starfire IV my dad used to play all of Chet Atkins' great stuff. I 2nd your Gretsch emotion
I have that exact same orange Gretsch, bought one on a whim at Guitar Center while waiting on my cheesesteak next door. I need to take it in to fine tune the setup but it feels, sounds and plays great. Sounds awesome thru my brand new Vox AC30 with blue Alnicos.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone looking so joyfully happy while playing guitar as you! PS - at 6:08 you play a variation on the start of the theme tune to UK soap Coronation Street.
Great video Tim! I'm inspired to practice like I used to when I was in my early twenties! And no kidding about the "new" Gretschs. About two years ago, I bought a Streamliner 2420. An ad for the guitar popped up while I was browsing; I looked at the price (about $500) and thought "Looks really cool, but there's got to be something wrong with it if it's that inexpensive." Still, I moseyed on down to my local big box music store where they had some in stock. I couldn't believe how well it played and sounded, and the high level of workmanship. I wanted a different finish, so they had to have it shipped in. And to my great surprise and delight, it was beautifully set up right out of the box. It's been a delight.
I have two newer electromatics, a 5420t and a 5220. I like them so much that I've chosen to spend some money on them. The solid body now has a U.S. Bigsby, locking tuners, roller bridge, arm rest and custom pick guard and truss rod cover.... Still well under $1000 and it sounds excellent with its stock guts. The 5420 just got guards and a roller bridge, the electronics and build quality of both are great but the Korean made 5420 is on par with my USA Tele. Great guitars.
Did the same to my 5420t minus the electronics. If you get a chance Steve check out the "Squishy Spring", added one to mine and makes the Bigsby so much easier to handle and get detailed bends now! Mine came from Alaska.
Great episode, Tim. I have a beautiful 2015 (last year before treble bleed and center block) Walnut and chrome Gretsch 5422 with Bigsby. I really like the thinner body and the nice weight. But those "Blacktop Filtertrons" (like on #2) really keep notes separated beautifully and chimey when mildly overdriven. Very sweet and organic. Thank you for sharing you talent with many of us who have been "guessing" for years how to play what we hear in our heads.
Hi Tim! Great video! I've always loved this song since it was new. Sounds even better with your playing on it! Thanks for the chance at winning this great looking and sounding guitar! George
Owner of more than a few Gretsch's myself, have to say I agree with you on the quality of the newer Electromatic 5420T's. Having a few 6120's, after a few simple mods it's hard to justify the extra huge cost of the Japanese counterparts. Did change the Tuners to Graphtech Ratio Locking tuners, Emerson Pots with Gavit wiring and TV Jones Classics, Upgraded the Bigsby to a BC3 (had it and a True Arc Bridge kicking around already). Thing is, picked itNew 5420T for $499 and probably have the same amount of dollars worth of upgrades into it. Even then it's a thrid the cost of a 6120T. Sure they are excellent Guitars, but something about the Electromatic makes me wanna pick it up and play, dollar for dollar, playability, tone are right there, and it puts a big smile on my face knowing it is that good, for a fraction of the cost.. Great show as always. No matter what level of player, it's the one channel can always pick up some great info. Thanks
I have loved every minute of playing my Electromagnetic 5420TG in Fairlane Blue for the past 2 years. If you mess with the pickguard, you can get a nice lil growl.
Nothing like a Gretsch! I have the white version of your #2 orange and love it. Added a rollerbridge, Lizard Spit nut sauce and "Squishy Spring" for the Bigsby. Plays and sounds just like a $3000 guitar!
I put a roller bridge on my Gretsch 2420T and I don’t care fore it- the strings pop off the rollers if you play a little aggressively - you really have to play carefully. Going to change it back. Anyone else run into this problem?
I agree Tim. I loved this record from the moment I heard it when it was released. Not only the chord choices, the progressions but also the lyrics too.
Guessed that song after 10 seconds. I think this one of the best written and produced songs ever. The verse is sooo cool sounding. Nice sounding Gretches.
Tim your playing is other level you make it look so easy and your love for what you’re doing/playing is awesome! You could make a one string broom sound good 🤌 loved the sounds on the Gretch! Thanks for doing what you do💯
Lol at the text painting when you showed/sowed the fields of sunflowers as you switched to the major 7th chords. Best demo of how to use a Gretsch, what makes it different, and why you might want to own one that I've seen because of your unexpected use of the Tears for Fears song. I'm not interested in or capable of sounding like Chet Atkins or Brian Setzer but that's who I associate with Gretsch so I never really knew what I'd do with a Gretsch if I had one. This quick vid was a revelation. Both guitars sounded spectacular. Btw, great song but I prefer their debut track Suffer the Children, if only because it was one of my 2 favorite songs to dance to at my favorite dance club back then (the other being Enola Gay). Hard to believe it's been 40 years.
Just bought a G5662T (basically like a 6120 DC) in that same price range and I love it. Everyone is just blown away when I take it out of the case and is loving the tone of it.
Been playing Gretsch guitars for decades. I have three. Two different Anniversaries, and a DuoJet. One of most played guitars is one of my 2 Annies and my Duo jet is a mainstay in my recording studio....paired with my Hiwatt, or my Bassman, a total tone machine. Great video. Thanks and Happy Holidays...
The affordable Gretsch 5420T is actually the favorite of gigging rockabilly guys. I've owned a bunch of the "professional" $3K made in Japan Gretsch models and always sell them. The 5420 is a keeper due to the right down the middle sound and modern neck and playable features.
Thanks for these demos! I purchased a Streamliner version of the hollow body without the Bigsby for $450, which was only okay until I replaced the bridge with a Tone Pro and replaced the tuners with Grover locking Rotomatics and now the instrument feels more like it’s worth $1,000. The body and neck were already solid but the difference from the upgrades has really been amazing!
Was at the Circa Museum store the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville and got to see the 1954 Chet Atkins special edition. $3,699, but well worth that cha-ching. The store carries the whole family, and so many of the others were in the $500 range that I was also blown away. No way to bring one home this weekend, but it's on my list for a followup.
Tim, I couldn't wait and went ahead and ordered a Fairlane Blue Electromatic! If somehow I win this drawing (hahaha, so doubtful), I'll have an embarrassment of riches! Thanks for your convincing demo, I can't wait to play this guitar, which incidentally is my first electric. 🙂
Love that song, and always had a love for Gretsch since George Harrison used them in the Beatles early days and Chet Atkins, of course. That color and sound is amazing.
I bought a Gretsch 5422 tg and it's become one of favorite guitars. The blacktop filtertrons on it were a bit low, but once I raised them a screw turn, the guitar just came alive.
I have a lot of guitars. I picked up an entry level Gretsch 2420t this year. Now I have a lot of lonely guitars. This thing quickly became my main to practice with. I had no idea just how versatile the Gretsch guitars really are. The 2420t did come with a few fixable issues (buzz buzz buzz, and fret sprout) but they were relatively easy to remedy.
Thank you Tim, for the review and the chance to win. I have been eyeballing the less expensive 2420 for the last two years or so. There is something about a full hollow body Gretsch that appeals to me.
That Gretsch Sound is so underrated! The Nashville is one of the most iconic guitar to carry that Filtertron sound! I started on an Electromatic Jet and the quality is huge for the price! Now about 2 weeks ago I got the Gretsch I had been wanting for a long time! The G-6659t Broadkaster Jr! Players edition Japanese craftsmanship! It was perfect out of the case and it was everything I was hoping it would be! It’s not the big body of the Nashville! In fact it’s a centerblock at very close to the size of a DuoJet! How can you go wrong!!
Gretsch have been sleepers for a while so it's always fun to see guys discover just how good they are. They look bloody great too.

I was recently blown away by the 65220! Still can’t believe the feel and sound. What a beautiful beast!
I wore this album out on cassette. I love those guitars. Why are you doing this to me, Tim? I have Christmas bills to pay off! LOL
I did that too, man what an album that was!.
I just got the Airline Silver G5420 and I'm blown away with the playability and tone. Absolutely love this guitar.
Hey Tim,
They are both beauties.
Gretsch seem to do the best bang for buck guitars around. I bought the G5222 a couple of years ago and the quality to price ratio is super impressive.
unlike most of these UA-cam guitar videos, this guy can actually play! Sounds great brotha
So much so, that in 2021 I've purchased:
✔ Gibson Les Paul Studio
✔ Fender Strat HSS Floyd Player
✔ Roland GR-55
And my most recent (and REALLY loving...)
✔ Kramer Vintage Baretta.
(Plus odds and ends aside.)
SWEETWATER and TIM PIERCE...
Their body of work is exceptionally creative. Definitely a very significant 80's band that should be celebrated more.
@@steveburke4609 - listen to 'The Working Hour' from their second album. Another deep-cut monster with an early 80's feel
I bought an Electromatic 5622T (center block) and I just love it. It’s a high quality no nonsense player, so much fun. Excellent playing Tim. Thx.
which color? I am buying a Georgia Green. The Aspen is out of stock until June and I can't wait, and I have a feeling my first choice, the G5422TG Walnut is Disc.
@@steveburke4609 I have the imperial stain, mostly because it was what I could find but I quite like it. All of the colours are nice, really.
Tim, I became a fan from your "Crowded House" episode and truly dug your "King of Wishful Thinking" play-over. Inspirational playing, indeed!
Crowded House used a Gretsch Jet.
I"d love to see Tim Pierce and Neil Finn jamming someday.
Hey Tim, recently found you thru Rick Beato. I'm a keys player but I have to say I love your playing and watch your channel regularly... anything musical gets my interest. This vid is extra special cos this track is one of my faves too 😎 Cheers brother.
To be on both Rick Beato's and Five Watt World's short list of great players speaks very highly.
Thanks for the comment, yes I can't believe how perfect the neck and frets are..... Appreciate it😀
I have a EBMM St.Vincent, a Gibson Hummingbird, a '66 Harmony Rocket, a Schecter FRS, and a Gretsch g2420 streamliner.
My Gretsch hollow body Streamliner(w/ a Bigsby, of course) is my Good guitar. It's one of the few Nice Things I've got.
Tim; what I liked about this video was the mini concert, and the mini lesson...please keep throwing us those bones man!
Oh boy, that sweetness at 4:20! Hope you have a great holiday, Tim!
@4.25” is the best moment ever: soloing with neck pick up, switch to bridge, but.. wait.. no! Going back to neck😄 your playing is phenomenal
When Tim Pierce says it’s good I get out the checkbook. Love my new Gretsch 5420TG-58
I own a Gretsch Country Gentleman and I love it! George Harrison owned and played one like it but his was an early 60s model.
Love my Gretsch (2 of them) guitars. Bought a 2215 P 90 at GC for
I wore out my old roommates TFF Live cassette.
Hear, hear!
T4F StSoL is one of the all time best songs and albums. That Gretsch sounded sweet in your hands.
I have the same one your giving away and I was shocked how it lloked, sounded, looked,, and everything, unplugged it even sounds amazing !!!
There are people who play the guitar. And then there are people who FEEL the guitar. This dude feels it for sure
I bought a 5420 three weeks ago, based on this and other videos and getting my hands on one at GC. Amazing! Thank you!
I really like the thinner body
and the nice weight. But those "Blacktop Filtertrons" (like on #2) really keep notes separated beautifully and chimey when mildly overdriven. Very sweet and organic.
Thank you for sharing you talent with many of us who have been "guessing" for years how to play what we hear in our heads.
Nice to see guitar bringing someone joy this time of year! Thanks Tim!
Its all true. I bought a gretsch 150th anniversary G5420TG by mail order and its amazing. Perfect straight out of the box...
Really great playing!!! I have the Gretsch G5422TG, a quilted red finish, absolutely love it!!
I feel like only now is Gretsch getting the appreciation it deserves.
I got a Gretsch in a trade. Now I have two. They are really good guitars. My Gretsch collection just went up to 4! They are great guitars!
Merry Christmas, Buddy!!! Nice shoutout to the neighbors for the decorations.
Guessed that song after 10 seconds. I think this one of the best written and produced songs ever. The verse is sooo cool sounding. Nice sounding Gretches.
I agree, Tim, it's hard to argue! Nice work.
The seeds of love... Man, the whole album was such a milestone for me! Thank you so much!
Bought one too. Totally amazed ! Changed the stock tuners for Gotoh's, and fully happy !
Very cool thanks for the comment
Lovely playing as always! Your duet was full of smiles.
Sounding good Tim! Maybe a Gretsch is what I've been waiting for 👍🤠
The affordable Gretsch 5420T is actually the favorite of gigging rockabilly guys.
I came across this video again today. I chose this exact Gretsch because of your video Tim. And I love my Gretsch! Thank you for such great videos!
I remember that song coming out. It was lush. Great to hear you playing over it. You’re the best Tim!
Thanks :)
It’s always such a pleasure to hear and watch you play! I learn so much with each video and from the Master Class!
Tim always plays exactly what every song calls for. Absolute magic!!
Love that song, and always had a love for Gretsch since George Harrison used them in the Beatles early days and Chet Atkins, of course. That color and sound is amazing.
George hated gretschs
I picked up a 5420 T in Fairlane blue. For under a grand, it sounds and plays great. It can roar or purr, but that's up to you.
I bought a Gretsch 5422 tg and it's become one of favorite guitars. The blacktop filtertrons on it were a bit low, but once I raised them a screw turn, the guitar just came alive.
Happy New Year, Tim. Here's to another year of your buttery, smooth vids and shreds.
I have the 2420T in a beautiful gold finish- it’s got the best neck I’ve ever played. Did a few upgrades and I will never sell this guitar.
