    I haven't heard these in person, but you can get a great set of IEM's in the Moondrop Aria's and they're about 30% less than this. These would have to sound great to justify that $130 price tag. I am still smelling some Razer tax on them.

      i wouldn't do moondrop products, their value is ridiculously good, but all three pairs of Chu's i've had have failed on me within a few months each (one side always stopped working or got extremely quiet), and i treated those like i would my newborn and only used them at home. granted, that's the cheapest pair they have, but i've seen reviews of it happening with the Aria as well with the cable it comes with. i'd just go with other brands like Truthear, which have even cheaper options and not *as many* QC issues.

    130 is a crime when the moondrops are significantly cheaper and better stocked tuned, you could eq them but when you switch to your phone it would be dissapointing

    • @doctahp123
      @doctahp123 10 місяців тому

      Also, not all IEMs take well to EQ anyways, I'd rather just have good tuning out of the box. Crin Reds, hexas, arias, all are significantly cheaper. If you're gonna spend this kind of money then there are so many better options (ie 200s, S12s, etc).

    Whether it’s a good product or not, they called it an eating your monitor because it is not a headset. Terminology gets a little weird, but I can see with certainty that an N air monitor would not come with a microphone. As far as I know, those were developed, either for television, or for musicians, and in either case, there’s no reason why they would have a microphone. Perhaps razer will offer this same product with a microphone, but they won’t call it an in ear monitor.

    • @sidesaladaudio
      @sidesaladaudio 9 місяців тому

      In Ear Monitor is a bit confusing since it just means any earphone that seals in your ear canal. While the original use for that form factor was for stage use, any earphone with a silicone, foam, or custom tip is considered an IEM. So even something like airpods pro are IEMs. There are lots of IEMs nowadays with microphones, and even some with boom mics

    • @EliotHochberg
      @EliotHochberg 9 місяців тому

      It's not confusing, it's right there in the name
      A set of earpods or earbuds can have both IEM and a microphone, I suppose, but adding a mic changes an IEM to something else
      Otherwise, what do words mean? Why bother having them if their meaning will change?
      Stand with me at this line, won't you?@@sidesaladaudio

    That MMCX recess is unacceptable. Looking at the 3D models for this, there was no reason for them to do this other than to make sure you can only use their cable and NEED TO BUY their cables if you ever replace or change it.
    This is literally anticompetitive practice on an open standard.
    Imagine if your phone had a USB-C port but it had a notch making it so you could ONLY use that companies usb cable.

    4:08 A lot of Razer's newer products are turning out to be quite nice because they're making peripherals that their sponsored streamers directly ask for. Built in mics on headsets and some IEMs' stock cable just cause too many problems with more complex audio setups. I wouldn't buy these, but I can see a kid wanting to be like their favorite streamer picking them up when they visit Best Buy during back to school shopping.

Everyone i know who uses them is also using a mic and the cable from the IEMs runs down the back of my shirt to my hookup to stay out of the way during a performance or broadcast.
