Holy shit this guys underrated. The editing?? The song choice??? The dedication to the various bits??? You made me cry all over again over this game with that end segment, big ups to you.
@@TryHardGamerYT No I haven't. There is never enough time to do everything I want to do😱 I haven't gone back to Sekrio or Hollow Knight when they added a boss-rush mode after I beat them. I have an issue with not replaying games, there are too many great ones to try. I would love to stream a boss-rush of all the games that added it over the past 10 years to celebrate when the community gets big enough to do fun events like that.
This game not even getting an indie category goty nomination is very disappointing. I, myself, couldnt care less about "the academy's" opinion on games but its undeniable that a nomination gives a lot of visibility to a game and nine sols is severely underated and not talked about enough
This game and Animal Well, should have swept the indie scene. I hate rogue-likes, so I'm biased, But Balatro felt so out of place and felt like Vampire Survivors winning awards a few years go. They are fun, but not games I would give awards to. We say we don't care unless a game we love wins. When Baldur's Gate 3 and It Takes Two won in 2023 and 2021, I was happy to see games I loved win for a change and it boosted their sales alot because of this shoutout. Which Swen confirmed happens, he was the guy before the GOTY medley played. We just want more to know about Nine Sols. Almost all of my favorite games, none of my friends have played and are niche on the internet, so I'm used to it by now. Even though my channel is small and the views are low compared to what's out there. I tried to make a video worthy of Nine Sols and when I get bigger, I can point new viewers here to prove why it's worth getting. I can't stop thinking about the game almost 5 months later it was that great. Similar to my favorite game from last year, Sanabi, they are truly amazing. Nine Sols will become massive just like Hollow Knight, as that game wasn't huge in its first year either, aka I got it after it became a huge hit, not during the time when it was a sleeper hit.
@@ricardofiani8383 Never heard of Red Candle before this game, and yet on their first attempt of a metroidvania, they perfected it. Amazing parry-based combat, a world, story and characters I couldn't help but fall in love with. Music that makes you wanna dance. It was somehow more fun and engaging than the juggernaut Elden Ring by Fromsoftware. I tried my best to showcase why it is a genre-defying game to help spread the word. People will find Nine Sol overtime, just like Hollow Knight. It's already happening given this video got more views this past month than the first 3 months combined it was out and I'm just a small channel.
My favorite thing about the game is how well they handled dificulty. Even on the gardest boss in the game, i never felt frustrated. All attacks felt avoidable, and every death felt like my fault. On every boss and miniboss.
just finished the last boss and i gota be honest..... the third phase screen swipes felt absolutely frustrating to me. perfect 10/10 fight without that move for me.
they masterfully made the bosses to where on your first attempt, you think the fight is impossible, but as you slowly get better and better you eventually are able to beat the boss
I didn't just play Nine Sols, I fell in love with it! Game of the year for me. A true work of art, immersive, with beautiful art, a super engaging story and the best combat ever seen in a 2D Metroidvania game. Simply wonderful! Nine Sols has my heart.
Great video! Just a few things to mention: - Unless you encountered a bug, Yanlao must be one of the first three sols - Jiequan does not prompt you to meet with him and you don't get imprisoned until you defeat all three of the first three sols. I'm guessing you encountered Yanlao before Jiequan and mixed up the order in the video? - Pretty sure that item you missed is not part of the true ending requirements (you do NOT need 100% to get true ending). These are the requirements for true ending afaik: 1. Rhizomatic bomb from beating the three grotto challenges and mini-boss. 2. Shennong becomes village leader - Requires giving him all poisons, growing the pavilion tree to max (gifting seed + two fertilizers to ShuanShuan), and completing the three village sidequests (rescue from prison, heal the poisoned villager, fend off invaders). 3. Gifting ShuanShuan artifacts and interacting with him enough to achieve an interaction count threshold. Generally occurs around 9 or 10 artifacts (3 of which need to be the seed and two fertilizers for the previous requirement).
I changed up the order of the Jiequan and Yanlao on purpose for the video. I fought them in the right order. It felt more interesting as a viewer to see it play out like that, as the revenge is pushed further back and it felt better to go from Yanlao's easy fight to Jiequan's harder fight than the other way around. I got all the things you mentioned to get the true ending, but didn't get the trigger. That's why I mentioned I assume it was not getting 100%, otherwise it might have been a bug. Luckily it didn't matter because of the speedrunner savefile. Thanks for enjoying the video
It's gonna grow over the years. They have a discord you can join to interact with. The subreddit can be engaging....but it's 1/3 furry drawings, 1/3 eigong videos and 1/3 talking about the game, so not the best place for interaction. It was a 10/10 to me and I ended up spending way too much time making this video to share my love for it when the game was even smaller at launch. It's grown alot as my video only had a thousand views 3 months ago. Now it's my most viewed video as the community is still growing and wanting to find people who love it just as much. I hope you can find that group. This video as you can tell, brings them to me :)
I know you're joking, but I was actually disappointed in how easy the fights were after going from Nines Sols to Elden Ring. It's not a slander on Elden Ring or From Software as I love all their games, it was just how I felt at the time, it was the launch of the DLC and first time playing the game. It's why I need time to formulate my thoughts, and hopefully it was just because I was hot off of Nine Sols and said "I felt I needed to slow time to defeat alot of these bosses" This made me feel in a way like One Punch Man in Elden Ring afterward, bored of first trying most bosses and getting robbed of an epic fight. I want my first experience in the game to not be tainted by this and so I quit to return hopefully one day.
9sols was easy for me because it’s just a rhythm game for most bosses, and I’m good at those. The only real exceptions are goimong with her tag teaming zombies and unpredictable attack combos.
Also imagine needing quick dose. Unironically trash jade imo. Simply wait for when there is a gap in the pattern. Do you use steely jade/ water flow during boss fights because you’re too impatient and need to spend qi right this instant as well? Or just arrow/ 5 qi full control talisman them to make an opening.
@@thomaswang2223 rhytm and dancing is how all fights are in games, Sekiro and Doom Eternal being the best showcase of that in their genres. Nine Sols was harder for me, while Elden Ring was so much easier in comparison. Some people found Eigong easier than Ethereal. Diffiuclty is a such a unique concept that is cool to see how different it can be for so many people
Quick dose felt needed early on and I think after I got comfortable with the game, I replaced it. I used water flow because I would always end up with so many charges from parrying, I couldn't get rid of them fast enough, so just slapping a talisman and having to not stop to denote it kept up the flow of combat, now I see why it's called water flow **mind blown** Was it the most efficient? no. Was it fun and fit how I wanted to play yes.
The second I heard String Theocracy I had to look at my taskbar to make sure I didn't accidentally open Ruina because my ass did NOT expect that to play.
@@espeon37 I guess putting a song from Libray of Runia does mean alot of people were gonna mention it. I do gotta get that cheat engine to skip the grind as that was the thing that turned me off when I first heard about it. I hope to cover someday, but there are so many videos that need to be made before I can do one on that. If I can't cover it, I might just have it be a streaming game
just killed eigong true ending and holy shit was that a difficulty spike. this game wasnt bad at all difficulty wise until her. that third phase is just absolutely brutal, ended the fight with 1hp (all internal damage) no heals, no arrows and no qi. hands are still shaking. what a beast of a game, honestly enjoyed this more than hollow knight and that was fantastic. the story gripped me a lot and the characters were ace. what a surprising gem. solid 9/10 for me.
Yep, literally dropped my controller after her fight from all the excitement. Truly one of the best fights ever. Nine Sols is one of my new favorites. One could even say…. it was so good it ruined Elden Ring😎
After getting the true ending of Sekiro, the final boss of Nine Sols did live up to all my expectations at being a test of all of the player's skills. Even if after the fact it feels a bit easier, I was still just as satisfied when I beat the game the first time.
Their is a Music Video that shows Yi floating in space but on the ending of the music Video Yi opens up his eye's literally in space meaning it's possible that may have a future Sequel the same Rules in life one story ends and another one begins. one door close and another one opens.
As much as I would love a sequel, Yi sacrificing himself to save Shaun would lose it's impact if he survived. The roots was also the thing that kept reviving him, so what would bring him back then? That said, if they found a way to make another banger story within the Nine Sols universe somehow, I will be there 100%. The game is gonna blow up over the next few years, so people are gonna want more just like Hollow Knight and Silksong.
@@wave-zd5sm no, but I might stream them for Halloween as I need to comply a list to prepare for that. They went to the top of the list after playing Nine Sols for sure.
@@Caliboyjosh10 Glad to hear that! Both Detention and Devotion are psychologically horror, but with very different type of stories. Looking forward to your play through❤️
From one of the last heng messages, yyou can find out that they did not take all of the fusang roots in new kunlun, but there were some left on penglai, so Yi might just respawn there and be like "... Well, shit" kinda ending up like Ji that was forced to live basically alone, with really few friends
I put this on randomly at work and just listened to the video but when the talking stopped and it was just the soundtrack I got confused and pulled my phone out to check just to see “we’re gonna dance” Fuck it man I had to subscribe
I know, sometimes my need to make jokes will ruin certain aspects of the game's story. But, when it's really important like stuff with Shaun and Heng, I made sure to not ruin it, especially towards the end.
What surprised me about this game was that even though it took me 3 days to beat Eigong, I never felt frustrated. I always enjoyed it no matter how many times I died. Difficulty doesn't matter as long as it's fun. My only criticism is that I want more. A new game plus would be nice, too.
They do have a boss rush mode I’ve been told, but haven’t personally tried it out. I agree, Eigong’s fight was so peak. I can’t believe how they made her and the whole game so flawless. I hope they pull a Team Cherry, just hopefully not on having to make us wait forever on their next game.
Just a quick note, solarians are the name for the race of cat people there are millions of solarians. Sols are the name for people on the Tiandou council.
I finally got the platinum of this game after 57 hours it was insane, just spent like 2 hours in each boss trying to memorize their patterns. Additionally, it is really dumb that they put two completely opposite achievements in which if you do one of them the other one is gonna be unavailable until your next run having to go through 2 play runs to complete the platinum. Overall it is an amazing game 9/10.
Congrats getting 100% over there on PlayStation. I guess I would have had to replay the game if I wanted the true ending if I couldn't download save files. But yea, replaying a masterpiece doesn't sound like a bad thing to do. That time saved was instead put to making this video, glad they ported the game to consoles, it truly is amazing.
Are you happy about the boss update ,) ? The final memories of Heng you see when you're stuck in Eigong Soulscape are actually Yi's memories from his Soulscape. That makes it even more sad as Eigong is currently inside your Soulscape, witnessing Yi's weakness. (Let's remember together that Yi is the one taking care of the Apemen pen. Yes. It hurts).
I don't usually replay games after finishing them, especially when making a video that took over 100 hours to make, this is my version of replaying a game. The way I would revisit it as a streaming boss rush gauntlet of Nine sols, Sekiro, Hollow Knight and other games that added that mode after I beat them. Maybe sometime in the future if the channel ever takes off, it would be a fun community event. I thought Yi went to visit Eigong and so was in her Soulscape? either way, having Heng's memories show up at his lowest point and seeing how he ended his relationship by saying he doesn't have a sister anymore since she wasn't going with him was emotional damage. Yi is not a good guy, but he did the right thing in the end and that counts for something
I really love the fights with Lady Ethereal, then Ji, then Eigong. It was hard for me, but when I actually understood the pattern and mechanics, when I'm in the zone and the music clicks with the parry sound effect. It's so good.
@@Caliboyjosh10 Yeah, by the time I finished the game, there were still some lingering thoughts like "Man, I want to fight Eigong again". Her 2nd and 3rd phase is just pure ecstasy. I had no time to think in 3rd phase, only instinct and muscle memory from failed attempts. What a game 🥲
@@KhanhHQ741 It is truly indescribable what this game was able to achieve. I hope they make another action game because they have hit that lightning in a bottle and I want more of it.
Hopefully, I wasn't the only one dancing, I wouldn't want to look like an idiot. Also, the follow-up Elden Ring video is gonna take a long time, as it is not easy, nor fun to make a negative video, so stay tuned for that.
Came for Ninesols review, awed by your dancing, and stayed because of your editing, the count of attemps slowly increasing (reminds me how I lose my sanity to Eigong) was the peak for me, never thought I would laugh so hard, thank you!
It seems the dancing has worked it's charmed ;) Eigong's fight was one of the best in gaming history, much like the rest game. I had to show how hard it was and always love showing how many attempts it takes for super-challenging games. Do you remember how many tries it took to defeat certain bosses including Eigong?
@@Caliboyjosh10 I loss count... it took me around 75 hours the first playthrough lol... but in my perception the most time-consuming bosses in order were Lady Ethereal=Eigong>Jiequan>a bloddy two axe mecha which is not even a mini boss> the rest>>>>>>Yinzhao(only because I played the demo)
Damn, double the playtime it took me to beat it😱 Lady E was the first boss who made me rethink my jade build multiple times to get some sort of an edge. Are you including or excluding your struggles with Yinzhao from the demo?
@@Caliboyjosh10 excluding🥲 if not then Ji might be the less attempted one. And maybe I am wrong but I think when someone is taking the effort of recording, enjoying and commenting the gameplay then the time must be more extended than someone who is only playing it, haha sorry to bring the time topic, didn't mean to make comparisons.
I knew it, fudging the numbers in your favor, lol. The editing took 120+ hours to make this one, when the game only took 33 hours. Always worth it for the GOTY ones, though.
Honestly the most shoking part of this video is you did not find the Fengs insufferably difficult. I played two runs of this game and the first time I beat the Fengs I had racked up more deaths in that one fight than I had in BOTH of my attempts of Eigong combined
It's wild that I think every boss had someone mentioning it being the hardest one, expect the claw one. I feel why the Fengs weren't is because they were right after Lady E, as I struggle with multi-entities fights. Which made me try so hard that Fengs was easier in comparison because it was just one giant slow heavy hitting dude with a few movesets instead of a gank-fight. I would than argue that Eigong was so insanely hard compared to everything else in the game that when I "became neo" in order to beat her that Elden Ring, which I played afterwards, felt so slow and easy in comparison. That's how I came up with the title of the video.
@Caliboyjosh10 I think my main problem is that out of all of the deaths I've had with them, only like 5 were on the first phase in the beginning, the way the adds from the second phase are is the only time any fight in this game felt cheap and borderline unfair. My problem was the guy is slow moving, but he also takes up like a third of the battlefield at any given time and jumping over him is not much of an option. The only way you can prevent him from cornering you is to dash through him at opportune times in his attack cycle. Which would be fine if the second phase did not ask of you to position yourself across the battlefield in such a way that was suggesting that Mr big meaty claws wasn't preventing you from doing so. In the eigong fight, it feels like a dance. there's a rhythm to a point you can learn the fight and theoretically go hitless, as I honestly came close the second time around. In the Fengs, I remember SEVERAL times in just the successful attempts that it forced me to take damage in one fashion to avoid getting ping ponged to death, usually in the form of tanking a hit from the big guys hitbox. In a game of very well designed fights, the Fengs and Kanghui are some of the lowest lows I've experienced in boss fights
@@sgamerxbox360 The trick to the fengs is being able to take control of the fight. In the 2nd phase in particular, using your arrows for stuns or baiting the big guy into an attack so you can dodge the magic attacks makes the fight much easier. Same thing with Kanghui. Prioritizing the little guys and using your arrows effectively gives you control over the fight, making it trivial.
Actually that's pretty easy to get the true ending. Just get all the map chips and make sure you have collected all items available. I think the only one you don't need is Chien's diary.
I played it near launch and there was a lot of conflicting info on what was needed for the true ending and no guides for 100%. Thank god for the speedrunning community. If not, I would have missed out on one of the greatest bosses of all time :)
thing with elden ring is that you can overlevel bosses very easily. If you want to get a challenge with the game you kinda have to auto impose it like for example not leveling past x before y boss is defeated. Not saying that it's absurdly hard but if you kinda follow the game's intended progression it isn't as easy as to just one try everything, also expecting a game with similar combat to ones you have already beaten dozens of times to be hard you are expecting a difficulty that not many people are willing to go through.
A valid, rational, and true argument? This doesn't belong on the internet. I have played all of From Software's games and other soul-likes and maybe From Software's formula just got stale after enjoying Nine Sols. That game made me feel like I did when playing Sekiro, truly magical, and Elden Ring felt more like Dark Souls 4 than a brand-new IP with anything fresh outside the horse combat, which was fun but the game felt lackluster despite its amazing scale. I plan to try out Lies of P before going back to trying out Elden Ring to see if it's the combat style or something else. I shouldn't have been over-leveled because I just went from zone to zone, but I did have the Bloodhound weapon which I feel is one piece of the puzzle for why something felt off while playing it. I've been trying to narrow down my disappointment with Elden Ring and it's so many things that lead to something that I didn't think was possible, not enjoying a From Software game for the first time :(
@@Caliboyjosh10I think unlike the other FromSoftware Soulslikes where there are no restrictions on leveling up so long as you have the currency to do it, Sekiro's pace is much better set since you have to overcome challenges like bosses to get the power that would recieve from leveling up. It allows the pace of progression to be much more easily set and anticipate how much power you can get at any point in progression. Elden Ring basically suffers from doing the complete opposite, since being able to go to many places of varying intended points of progression while being able to get more powerful off of anything allows the player to break the progression system without even knowing where they're intended to be at in terms of power. I think the progression systems were simply made for a more linear experience where the resources allowed to you are paced at a fitting rate for the intended experience, with only returning players being expected to break the progression system with tougher sequence breaks. So the fact that Elden Ring hinges on the ease of those sequence breaks and sheer quantity of content means that it's a huge fail in terms of game design to not account for that intended usage within the framework they were using.
You nailed it. I would wish they would could have an option in-game to have the recommended level range so you can know the intended order. I feel like I mostly did leading up to Margit at the start, but after him, it was so meh. I found the Bloodhound weapon that was so powerful I eventually did stop leveling up damage for like 20 levels and for 30+ bosses it still didn't make a difference. I was so disappointed in it for so many reasons beyond just that, but open-ended games and challenge seems to never work. I've played other smaller games that do this and it always ruins it and didn't even think about that for Elden Ring given I've enjoying so many of FromSoftware's games and they never disappointed once, that it was just a no brainer it would work out. It's funny to me now though, that Darks souls 1, the first half is beloved and the second half isn't. One is more linear, while the latter is open-ended. It's weird to see no major pushback on Elden Ring with this extreme lack of balance in how easy it is for most of the game because of it's open-ended nature. Did people all just follow a guide or do they enjoy being overpowered? I also hate that everyone usually tells me to just do challenge runs if the game is too easy, or download mods to fix the combat, or the game isn't for me... a game designed for me.......on paper at least. I just wanted to pick a sword and cool looking armor and smack bosses while getting destroyed. I already don't use magic and summons as I've known it already breaks the balance from playing Dark Souls 1 & 2 but now I can just pick a sword, go to areas once and somehow end up getting over-leveled constantly and therefore ruin it? It's such a weird feeling about Elden Ring but I'm glad some people have understood instead of deflecting as they can't grasp that Elden Ring has issues that can't be overlooked for future games, *cough* like their upcoming rogue-like spin-off, where balance is even more important. *cough* These sequence breaks I don't know anything about, it's speedrunning right? I'm assuming you mean to just go after bosses only required for the story/beating the game and ignoring most of the non-important stuff? I usually only play games once, if the intended way is to basically not fight everything at least once, that is horrible. But I did start skipping content as all ruins and dungeons had poor loot, lame enemies/bosses, and generic level design compared to the ones that I think are called legacy dungeons, aka the good stuff. Once I realized that, the game honestly started feeling like they are copy/pasting and putting in so much filler which made me think they basically pulled a Ubisoft and nobody mentions it and we all shit on Ubisoft for being lazy, yet FromSoftware gets a pass because the later half is I'm assuming is all just that great? I feel most people must enjoy beating bosses on a first try. As for me, when that happened for 90% of the game, I quit before I started hating it. I love challenge and Sekiro was perfect along with Nine Sols, and I hope Lies of P can be when I play it next year. It seems open world and souls-likes just don't mix at all if you crave challenge. Thanks for not being a dick and understanding I just wanted to enjoy Elden Ring but couldn't.
Slight correction, the gene eradicator only nerfs Jiequan's phase one, but phase two is unchanged so everyone gets their ass beat equally during that part :)
I went back to get that clip for the video, saw it affect phase 1, didn't fight him to get to phase 2, and assumed it was the whole fight. I think that was the only stupid mistake I made, but the message of "don't poison Jiequan and nerf his fight because you want to fight him at full strength and get your ass beat" still stands because Jiequan's fight was too amazing to ruin it by poisoning him.
Thank you, it was a last minute addition as I couldn't think of a way to showcase my favorite song of the game in a visual way. I got more dumb fun stuff planned for next year as well.
Awesome video, man. I finished Nine Sols recently, and it's instantly one of my fav games ever. I see you used a bit of the same technique then me on Eigong. Charged heavies + waterflow. Though once I got the rythme I didn't used the arrow to stun her, I dodged her red slashes, giving me 3 free heavy attacks. I'll check the rest of your channel, see what's there
Thanks, I panicked on every red slash, I seemed to always mess their timings up😰 Recently the videos went a little weird, but hopefully you'll enjoy the overall humor and vibes here.
I'm still waiting on Act 3 before getting into Ultrakill, as I don't play early access games. But when it releases, I'll be balls deep in that given how much I loved Doom Eternal. I would make a more legitimate list next time that also includes shooters. But given what I've seen of it over the years like you can parry bullets, I hope it would be up near Sekiro and where Doom Eternal would also be.
@@Goldcrow-Music That's good to hear. I've been loving this new hardcore movement craze in the indie scene with Turbo Overkill, Severed Steel and Neon White to name a few.
Not to be that guy, but making fun of ji for being an easy boss while using THE stunlock water flow arrow cheese is a bit wild gang, also I felt second hand embarassment at the fact that you played through the entire game and apparently never realized that hitting a perfect counter heals internal damage, Good video though this game needs way more recognition.
I don't think I stunlocked him with arrows. I don't know if you can or not? I only tried that with Eigong during phase 3 because I had plenty of time to test with her 100+ attempts. I used the charm that made you attack faster which made Ji's fight super short just like with the Feng twins. That's why they were easier compared to earlier ones, the shorter and more damage you do, the less likely you are to die. Still like their fights, just wish Ji had that phase 3 that was cut for budget reasons :( The game tells you about internal damage early on, but from a viewer's perspective, I waited until Lady Etheral's fight because that was the first time the healing made a huge difference and so I had to explain it. Before that, it didn't need to be mentioned. I cut and rearranged things to make the video flow better as a viewer which isn't an issue while playing. It's just the way I edit
I finally played MGR game last year, I can't believe no one else has done slicing like that since. I also love parry mechanics ever since Furi back in 2017. Next year I''m gonna get Lies of P and parry the hell out of that game. I've played almost all of the known good ones. If you got any hidden gems that you know of, I'll take more drugs if you're dealing.
12:37 i killed first robot for the map than I felt so bad i paid for every map afterwards. But they should have give an extra cut scean in the end to show how many you saved or something.
I know I'm an asshole for killing all the robots when the money wasn't really a huge deal breaker. I'll say I was roleplaying as Yi as he would totally do it and I would never😇 But.....the space station gets blown up, so they do all die at the end anyways....so the ones you saved you just delayed their death and would see them all get blown up. Just like the game, you can never have a happy ending😢
@@Caliboyjosh10 I mean, tbf it happens even earlier since if you paid for the chips, later on Chiyou will dissasemble them, and Shuanshuan will use the parts to build a fortuneteller machine (which gives an achievement for using it.)
It's impossible not to dance when you hear their song. Glad you enjoyed my unique way of talking about the game, including the dancing😂 Nine Sols has become one of my new favorite games of all time and I couldn't resist trying my best to make a video to show why it was so damn great. I hope you'll enjoy what else I have to offer on this channel....it can get weird sometimes 😨
We're way past the honeymoon phase. Nine Sols was unbelievable while Elden Ring was underwhelming. Six months later and I still can't get over how amazing Nine Sols was. Elden Ring was played right after and bored me enough to quit. Every fight in Nine Sols was more fun because its combat system was more engaging. Sekiro and Nine Sols proved that the old souls-like formula is stale to me. I loved Margit, but every fight afterward for 10+ hours was a snoozefest :(
Damn, bro. This was a great runthrough. You've got some serious editing chops. Really helped me with my post Nine Sols blues. I hope lots more people find your channel. You deserve it. And yes, I was dancing.
Thank you. This video was my way of dealing with it after finishing it. Could have just replayed it and saved time but then I wouldn't have been able to dance. It's impossible not to with a dope soundtrack 🕺
Just finished the game today and got normal ending not will go to do true ending. Loveed every minute especialyy the art work and story and music. We need moregames like this.
Ender Lilies is the only one I know of that's very similar and you'd be able to catch it on a sale when the new one comes out at the end of the month. I'm stoked to cover next.
It's a really niche game called Unsouled. store.steampowered.com/app/1042920/Unsouled/ I enjoyed it and it's pretty neat and wish more people knew about it.
Elden Ring isn't actually baby-tier easy, but the game was painfully easy compared to their other games, so I exaggerated it because it was disappointing. Nine Sols felt to me like Sekiro in so many ways and was exactly what I wanted Elden Ring to be like, something fresh and challenging
I wouldn't say it would ruin elden ring for some one. It is still a good game but it a bit weird here and there, also a bit wonky on the combat and needs some work gere and there. But i wouldn't say it bad it still a good, and nice looking game eith the art style just not to the tier of "ruining elden ring" .
You are correct, it's not Nine Sol's fault. It's Elden Ring's. I was disappointed in Elden Ring when it came to getting rewarded for exploring, its story, and most fights were both boring and easy. So...Nine Sols didn't ruin the game, Elden Ring ruined itself with how it was designed and balanced, so the real title should have actually been: "Elden Ring was so disappointing I would rather tediously edit a video about Nine Sols and gush about it than play Elden Ring" Also, FromSoftware has made the same medieval style since Dark Souls 1 and as beautiful as some of the landscapes are, I just want something new from them. Sekiro and Bloodborne were so different and Elden Ring felt like a regression back to Dark Souls. Nine Sol's art style is unique and fresh, but obviously style, just like games, it's all subjective.
That Furi shoutout though!😍 Furi was a main reason I was actually able to beat Sekiro relatively smoothly, very underrated game and probably my best reference when it comes to evaluating whether an action combat system is good or not, my personal golden standard! Just 100%ed Nine Sols and it's easily in my top 3 metroidvanias ever!🔥
True parry fans know what perfected the formula first was Furi, not Sekiro. I do wish more games had parry be a focus, there aren't enough of them compared to straight souls-likes, as only dodging has gotten old for me, hint the getting bored in Elden Ring. I know I have yet to play Lies of P and Grime and hope to get around to one of them next year and see how they compare. It's so great to have seen Nine Sols go from at launch being this hidden gem known only as a Hollow Knight and Sekiro clone to now being it's own game. I can't wait for Silksong to be called a Nine Sols-clone, then we know we've come full circle😂
@Caliboyjosh10 oh, man! Lies of P will probably open your eyes to what's still possible for soulslikes! I think it's a perfect evolution of a standard souls formula mixed with an amazing parry system! Hope you'll make a video on it!🔥
Just waiting of it's DLC to release and then I can finally play the whole game. I remember seeing streams of it near release and it looked how I wanted Elden Ring to feel, different, instead of just Dark Souls 4 but open world. I hope I can find an interesting and entertaining angle to cover Lies of P on. I do plan to stream it as part of an upcoming idea I'm thinking of doing with Elden Ring, but that's a problem for future me.
I have and yes that fire AOE that spawns from the ground was so bullshit among other things. I played it co-op and it was till way too hard. I also struggle so much with gank-fights. Even replayed Dark Souls a few years back; Ornstein and Smough still destroyed me. That's why Lady E was so brutal for me. That phase 3 with basically 5 versions of herself, felt like a gank-fight even though it wasn't technically one.
Maybe its just the accumulated experience from playing all these hard games (Nine Sols being only the latest) but aint no way we ranking NineSols harder than HK. Eigong took like 1/3rd the time it took to beat NKG or Pure Vessel for me. Not to speak of path of pain or P5...
It's been 6 years since I played Hollow Knight, it was for sure hard as hell, I just don't remember how the whole game was on challenge. If we went with just bosses I would assume HK is harder as it also had so much more of them as well, but Nine Sols had so many tough basic enemy encounters and with parry it's easier to fuck that up and die versus just dodging like in HK and Elden Ring. I didn't do any of the boss rush stuff in HK. The ranking at the start isn't exactly a well thought out thing, I just wanted to quickly display where games felt like they should go, hence Elden ring being the easiest game ever, which isn't true, but felt like it. I'd have to replay Hollow Knight and others to make a legit one. NKG was the only one I remember giving me the same levels of challenge Eigong was and is my favorite boss in HK because of it. I'm just glad to finally enjoy a game on the same level of Hollow Knight with an added story that gripped me The feeling you have for Nines sols being easy it how I felt with Elden ring, hence the title of the video. I made the mistake of playing these two games back to back and somehow Elden Ring was the one that felt lackluster :(
@ Yea I get that completely. Figured the list was a little bit of a meme in the first place 😬 I probably felt that with Nine Sols cause i did my first play through of HK just before it (yes yes, I’m 7 years late). Both games are amazing though. Nine Sols is definitely hard especially with Yi being seemingly made of paper. At least in HK you can take a beating, unsurprisingly the hardest bosses are those that turn you back to paper (with the double damage and all that) PS: This video is damn good 👍
What's that game at the top of your difficulty curve? At the end of the line, above NIOH, and at the top of Complex and Difficult? I can't make out the title.
Unsouled is the one at the end of the line. It’s really niche, and extremely hidden. I made a video a while back, not as great my recent videos. Rain World is the other one and is really tough, so be careful
I just beat the game for the first time, and I must admit, I was disappointed. But hear me out, this is mostly my fault. First, I was gearing up for Nine Sols for awhile. I heard it was hard, and that's all I knew. The only other game like this that I have played (and played and played and played) is a game called Rain World (go try it out). Rain World is a very different game, but like Nine Sols it is stupidly hard (though for entirely different reasons). So blessed with the infinite patience Rain World I was ready for Nine Sols... or so I thought. I played 30 hours of Nine Sols over one week, the week after I finished up the fall semester. It was a way for me to unwind (or so I thought) so I just played it almost non stop, often till between 1 or 2 am. I had beaten all the bosses besides the Fangs, Ji, and of course the final boss, and I hate to admit but I was getting sick of fighting. Guys, I am bad at video games. By the time I got to the Fangs I was shot. Now in retrospect I should've just dropped the game for a few days and come back and this is what I tried to due but the story was just so interesting I felt like I just had to complete it one way or another. So I did the unthinkable: i switched to Story Mode. I didn't make major changes: I just increased my attack damage to 200% and reduced my damage taken by about 20%. At the time I thought I was making the right decision, but I was wrong. I would atone for my sins when I reached the bad ending. The boss fight had only two stages and I was gearing up for three, and it was easy especially with my buffs. It was stupid and I was sorely disappointed. Now in my defense I don't think the bad ending should have been as easy to obtain. Like that ending actually sucks to the point where it detracts from the story and the game overall. I think there should have been three endings: a Pro-Solarian ending (the bad ending), a new Yi-Tries-to-Have-His-Cake-and-Eat-It-Too ending, and the good real ending. The fact is that I didn't know at the time that my actions were leading to the bad ending, I didn't even know there were really multiple endings. I just assumed I was playing the game the "right way." And I really thought that I was becoming the new Yi which would save the Apemen and atone for the sins of the other Sols. I had no idea that Yi would just be a total stone and lie to Shuanshuan and keep harvesting the apemen etc. Like that sucks. I had already helped the villagers, I had maxed out my health, I had become close with shuanshuan, the only thing I didn't do to get the real ending? Plant that stupid tree! I even had the fertilizer just sitting around! I had no idea there was a tree, I had no idea that I needed a tree, I had no idea there were more chests on the roof, how was I supposed to know to find the stupid tree? So now I get the most draining ending of all time after all that. I was actually confused about how such a great game could sabotage itself like that. This is when I finally went online to figure out if I was missing something, and lo and behold I was! And all it was was that stupid tree!
I have in fact....played Rain World and it is the hardest game I ever played and made a death montage a few years ago: ua-cam.com/video/rkFZGbwTT-0/v-deo.html *it's old so it's not amazing compared to my modern videos* The only game I quit and loved despite how hard it was to figure out how to play it. I do know they have DLC coming out next year and might get back into it and I know it's a game that can be enjoyed more when being streamed. Yea, switching to story mode in Nines Sols and changing the stats is always the wrong move. Removing the challenge from a game known for its challenge will take away the fun. I know this, as Elden Ring was too easy and bored me but that was just from naturally playing. I wish Elden Ring had modifiers to make the game harder at least early on. If you watched my video you'll notice I had to get a save file from a speedrunning website, despite doing everything at the time known to get the true ending. So I didn't have to replay the game to get the true ending. The true ending is like I stated in the video the only ending, the normal one should and I feel intended to be offputting and then seek out if there is another ending. Which I did, and you did and most people have and now tell people to always get as it's what sets the game over that edge to becoming not just GOTY but a 10/10 game
When I went back to get footage for that, I didn't fight him and just assumed it was the whole fight. That's an honest mistake, but I don't think it's gonna hurt anyone. The message is still true, don't make the fight easier and ruin the fun.
I love putting in music that fits the vibe and I got 6,000+ songs I own to choose from. I love Mili and got this song because of them......and haven't played Library of Ruina...yet. I need to look into a cheat engine to save time grinding in that game, as I can't put 100+ hours in games anymore.
@@Caliboyjosh10 library of ruina is 60-90h Depends how fazy can you learn mechanic not mamy but porly explained recommend watching guide Abaut grind there is some but you can instal mod that fully negate it You get few books from opponents you kill those you Burn for cards etc but also need 1 copy for next fights you get books back from fight if you win but lose if you lose it s only annoying in second to last chapter
Over the years Nine Sols will be as popular if not more than Hollow Knight. I made a video to showcase why it's a masterpiece and hope it helps spread the word. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Agreed. It’s insane that Redcandle just nailed it first go. I just hope they don’t go the route of Team Cherry and take forever to make their next game.
It’s a one hit death game, so it ain’t no baby game. It’s tough but resets are fast and dying isn’t a huge setback. it’s the only game on that list besides Sekiro that I would say is better than Nine Sols
I'm going to be that guy. You don't meet jiequan until you beat the small collector boss. (Can't remember his name), so technically, you messed up your order of events
@Caliboyjosh10 you set the narrative of the video as timeline based, changing the order can, mess with someone's understanding if they haven't played the game yet and make the lore harder to understand then it already is
I dont even need to watch this to know that infinitely rolling as your main source of defensive choice is probably the worst design decision to exist in all of the souls games. (Sekiro not included)
@@Caliboyjosh10 Check out Elden Ring Reforged. It's a mod that redesigns a lot of the core balance in the game. Has a Sekiro mode, and has alternate ways to dodge boss attack patterns (jumping, ducking and some others), and adjusted boss attack patterns.
That was the first instance so far. I did get "pissed" on in my Postal 2 video, because if you know the game it's a major feature, so that was weird and UA-cam didn't like that video being made, and I can't imagine why? I recently got a maid outfit for the follow-up to my next Touhou video. It's a weeb franchise I didn't know about and I'm gonna have a blast ruining it and being dumb. I don't know what I'll do in that video, but I got a maid outfit for it. I do have something dumb planned for valentines day and no.... it doesn't involve the maid outfit. It's a prequel to a eldritch dating game I played for Halloween. It evolves Cthulhu and furries :O So.....basically it will be more and more if next year, the channel does better🤞
Im gonna be honest i loved this game. probobly in my top 10 of games i ever played. but my main gripe is from that stealth section. It was honestly terrible.
I agree, it was the worst part of the game. It did kill the pacing of the game, but it did help build the story out. A small blemish in an otherwise perfect game.
Dude you are so much better than me! Lady ethereal took me prolly close to 60 attempts 🤣 def 10/10 game. Check out Grime if you get a chance for more parrying goodness and storytelling horror. Dance moves are fire 🔥🔥🔥
I might be better in games, but not so in dancing, glad you found it entertaining. I heard that Grime got a sequel, so I'll definitely check them both at some point. That game flew under my radar, but it seems to be a blessing as it got 3 years of updates and now currently on sale :) How much did Eigong destroy you and your sanity?
@ for some reason Eigong was not as difficult. I play in very short chunks like 3-7 attempts per play session, because I can't be throwing controllers against the wall too often 😁 so when I start fresh, brain has had more time to build new connections or something. Also there was less aerial bs and to this day I have no clue how to tell the spirit form from the real lady ethereal 🤦♂️ I'm so jealous you are gonna play grime for the first time, it's the first game I n+ 😅
@@roankai I don't remember if I mentioned it in the video, but it also did take me a while to find out that the non-shadowed face was the real Ethereal. That added up to alot of failures too Eignong was the only fight that I couldn't beat in one session, didn't help me get better though during those breaks 🤣 After Elden Ring disappointing me, I'm excited to see if Grime's parry-driven combat can deliver on the challenge
Flip yeah, somebody else who knows of Grime! Love that body horror world. Beautiful music and insane creatures. For some other body horror worlds, i can warmly recommend looking into the likes of Oddworld and Zeno Clash. Had a prequel in 2023 called Clash: Artifacts of Chaos. Awesome game. As far as metroidvanias go, i'm very fond of Cookie Cutter. It's a very solid game and has more planned for the future.
@@jurtheorc8117 I remember seeing a video on Cookie Cutter that showed it having a robot with a talking vagina....what a wild thing to have in a game. If I ever need to make a really horny video showcase again I'll have to see if that game could ever fit in there somewhere. There's too many great games, we need a bad year so I can catch-up
Thank you. I don't go in-depth out about my disappointment about Elden Ring in this video if that what you're talking about. The like ratio is 94% as well. I chose my words carefully to not say Elden Ring is terrible, as it's not. Nine Sols was to me a 10/10 game and I feel just one part of why Elden Ring bored me. Still working on that video My opinion of Nine Sols is it's basically a masterpiece. You'd have to tell me what I said that anyone might have disagreed with, because just look at the comments and you'll find I think one comment kind of trolling my "So good it ruined Elden Ring" tagline but no real hate. I make jokes, some people might not get some of them and take offense, but it's been more positive than even a weeb video that got a 89% like ratio that sexualized a touhou game that some fans didn't like because I found parts of it weird and went with it.
I wish I was trolling, it's been 6 months and I'm still bummed about Elden Ring. Elden Ring was so easy I got bored and stopped playing. I play From Software games for their challenge and I didn't get it 😭
@Caliboyjosh10 that's odd. Like I know you can get prety op in elden ring, but to find it too easy, by just playing normaly(I asumme you didn't use any guides or external help) is something I've never seen before.
@@pedrofranck6014 As I'm finishing up Elden Ring's video, I looked into it, and one aspect was I found the Bloodhound weapon, it's supposedly really overpowered, hence why I never replaced it. I thought I was overleveled, but then stopped leveling and still the game was boring and way too easy. I watch 90% of enemies flail like a monkey from afar, then go in for an attack. Rinse and repeat till I gave up from boredom and worked on the Nine Sols video instead, hence the title. Trust me, I'm just as baffled as you, I never once thought a FromSoftware game was easy/boring. I could summarize it easily as it's their most horribly balanced game that I without using magic or summons still felt like I had cheats on. Yes, I am one of the those assholes, that is anti-magic, so I couldn't imagine how much easier it is with all that stuff. I might return to it, as I love FromSoftware too much to not give them a second chance, but it was a tarnished experience 😥
Yep, it's currently on the Steam Winter Sale for super cheap. store.steampowered.com/app/423230/Furi/ Cherish it when you get it, we don't get alot of boss-rush games that often :(
I hope not, I was already disappointed with Elden Ring being too easy. I quit but want to return because Malenia is famous for being the hardest boss in the game and want to get there, but game is too boring from a boss design and challenge perspective😥 It’s been a while since Sekiro, but eigong is at least tied, could even be harder, but man it felt so good to finally have a game as good as Sekiro. Also, great Kanye reference.
@Caliboyjosh10 I mean.... It seemed appropriate cuz I was ten minutes into the video and had to tell *someone* who *understood* what a big deal that was 😅 Funny enough we had a similar experience, I had a sliver of health left on what must've been a triple digit attempt when I finally got her🥵 But yeah, if you're not feeling Elden Ring's vibe, the path to Malenia will probably feel even more tedious, it's way off the beaten path.
I really wanted to get to Malenia, and I heard at least one other that is brutally hard, Radand, after talking to some people. But the game was just too big and went for so much quantity compared to their other games. I couldn't justify the time to play a 100+ game just for a few fights that I know are amazing when 50+ at the time were so bad I felt I wasn't play a FromSoftware game. But I'm working on a way to turn a disappointment into something hopefully positive and exciting moving forward on this channel.
@@Caliboyjosh10 To each their own, but personally Elden Ring has by far the best boss design in gaming, at least currently. They perfectly evolved the Dark Souls 3 design, which is foundational to Elden Ring's, though they spliced in elements from Sekiro and adapted in many ways. I'm pretty sure its the closest we'll ever get to a "perfect game" every single aspect is designed with an extreme amount of care and effort. Of course it has its flaws, and it won't be for everyone, but I don't see another game beating it for a long while.
I loved nine sols, but elden ring is also a masterpiece. Personally found elden ring way more chalanging. And then I played bloodborne and found it way too easy. Its probally because the fromsoft games have similar combat and nine sols is unique. But elden ring is beautiful the art and the bosses look amazing. Also the bosses were not really easy. I have to ask which build you used and if you searched anything up. And how far did you come? Did you beat every boss?
The game delivers so well on the world and look of everything as they have always done. I don't do a build, I just put in a mixture of increasing different stats until I find a cool weapon and stick with it and level it up. I've always done that with every soulslike game as going in blind and going with the flow is the most fun for me. I basically had the starting champion set from the start, as I found nothing that was better both stats and looks during the time that I played. I got the bloodhound weapon. I don't use magic as I've found it trivialized combat in their other games. After first trying about 30 bosses after Margit, which he was fun and thought the game was gonna be like that given what people post online. But I quit from boredom after the Queen of Moonlight given how the game offered nothing to hook me, given the rewards, combat, and exploring were both throwing so much and yet none of it was impressing me outside a beautiful landscape :( I assume the endgame is where all the good bosses and cool armor sets are at? After 16 hours it felt like plenty of time for them to show me something epic to keep me hooked that's usually the halfway point in their other games. So I just quit. In a FromSoftware game, I didn't expected that to happen and the first culprit was Nine sols as I loved it so much. Turns out it was just going open world that padded the game with content and ruined it :(
@Caliboyjosh10 i understand, but the end game is amazing. I would like to see you give it a second chance after about 5 hours you should find the game great again. I would even watch you do it live if you would do that. Anyway i hope you'll get back to it, but do what you like.
@ I will be back to Elden Ring, I love FromSoftware too much to quit just because it's not amazing at least early on. But I got a little plan for the channel to turn this disappointment into something great. My next video basically goes over it, but I will be streaming Elden Ring once we reach a certain Twitch goal and while waiting it's gonna be souls-likes and boss rush galore. Hopefully it will be a fun and masochistic time :)
@Caliboyjosh10 off the top of my head, you messed up the timelines, jiequan takes you prisoner after the robot claw and lady G fights, the cats used by Eigong were actually solarians with tiao virus stripped from there genes, not used for testing. That's just what I remember. Would you like a proper list?
@@Abroman10 A list would be great. It will help with any future misunderstandings people might have with Nine Sols and make sure to not make mistakes like that for future videos.
@Caliboyjosh10 honestly just wanted to point it out because I just beat it after 2 days and the lore is fresh in my brain. My tip is to research enough that you know for a fact you are correct. Last thing you want is lots of people like me calling you out for mistakes
There is no point in playing this if you don't like parry mechanics, it's literally the entire combat loop. That's like saying you don't like Doom because you have to shoot weapons it's part of the combat. You're missing out on Sekiro, there is a reason most FromSoftware fans say it's their favorite. Parry to me is more fun and engaging than dodging. It adds so much to the feel of a fight and rewards aggressive gameplay. I too didn't use parry in Dark Souls, it was binary and therefore boring in how it was implemented compared to Sekiro. Elden Ring not having parry is probably one of the many reasons I got bored in that game. I-frame dodging is stale as hell now to me. That's why I'm looking to try out Lies of P next to see if I enjoy that. It seems parry is the crack that souls-like games were missing to evolve into something better, at least to me.
Holy shit this guys underrated. The editing?? The song choice??? The dedication to the various bits??? You made me cry all over again over this game with that end segment, big ups to you.
Nine sols is so good that I can no longer play video games out of sheer disgust that they are not nine sols
The same thing was done when Lord of the Rings came out. Haven't seen a movie since :)
Just play Nine Sols again :)
@@supermario863 or spend 120 hours making a video where you gush about it 😻
@@Caliboyjosh10 Have you tried the boss rush mode they added? It's pretty sick
@@TryHardGamerYT No I haven't. There is never enough time to do everything I want to do😱
I haven't gone back to Sekrio or Hollow Knight when they added a boss-rush mode after I beat them.
Nine Sols will become massive just like Hollow Knight, as that game wasn't huge in its first year either, aka I got it after it became a huge hit, not during the time when it was a sleeper hit.
this is a shame! Should be the GoTY. No words to describe nine sols.
Is just so good!! Red candle exceeded all and any expectations.
@ amazing video by the way! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙌🏼
@@ricardofiani8383 thanks
My favorite thing about the game is how well they handled dificulty. Even on the gardest boss in the game, i never felt frustrated. All attacks felt avoidable, and every death felt like my fault. On every boss and miniboss.
Agree, it's why I have no issues calling it a masterpiece and why I never once got mad or bored during any fight
Same but except Goumang and The Fengs. It feels like some of their attack combos are unavoidable.
just finished the last boss and i gota be honest..... the third phase screen swipes felt absolutely frustrating to me. perfect 10/10 fight without that move for me.
they masterfully made the bosses to where on your first attempt, you think the fight is impossible, but as you slowly get better and better you eventually are able to beat the boss
I think this is bc your parry interupts basically every other action in the game, you feel in control and never cheated
I didn't just play Nine Sols, I fell in love with it! Game of the year for me. A true work of art, immersive, with beautiful art, a super engaging story and the best combat ever seen in a 2D Metroidvania game. Simply wonderful! Nine Sols has my heart.
Great video! Just a few things to mention:
- Unless you encountered a bug, Yanlao must be one of the first three sols - Jiequan does not prompt you to meet with him and you don't get imprisoned until you defeat all three of the first three sols. I'm guessing you encountered Yanlao before Jiequan and mixed up the order in the video?
- Pretty sure that item you missed is not part of the true ending requirements (you do NOT need 100% to get true ending). These are the requirements for true ending afaik:
I think you forgot the fusang amulet(?
I think it was needed (not sure), maybe that’s why you didn’t get the trigger
I really love this game, but sadly the community is very small. I can't even find a big fan group. Hope it can get more attention
Where are some small ones? I love this game still on my first play through
Guys I beat all the Elden ring bosses, but apparently it’s baby tier so I’m really not that good
I know you're joking, but I was actually disappointed in how easy the fights were after going from Nines Sols to Elden Ring.

Thanks, I hope you were dancing along too
just killed eigong true ending and holy shit was that a difficulty spike. this game wasnt bad at all difficulty wise until her. that third phase is just absolutely brutal, ended the fight with 1hp (all internal damage) no heals, no arrows and no qi. hands are still shaking. what a beast of a game, honestly enjoyed this more than hollow knight and that was fantastic. the story gripped me a lot and the characters were ace. what a surprising gem. solid 9/10 for me.
I’ve been stuck on lady ethereal for the past 3 days 😭😭😭
You can do it....also the final boss will probably take you a week😈
@ NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 😭😭😭
Honestly my favorite fight, feels like fighting radiance, it's just fighting in the air due to the parrys
@@Abroman10 She's an S-tier boss fight for sure
My honest recommendation: Watch a video of a no hit and analyse how it dodges each pattern.
Their is a Music Video that shows Yi floating in space but on the ending of the music Video Yi opens up his eye's literally in space meaning it's possible that may have a future Sequel
the same Rules in life one story ends and another one begins.
one door close and another one opens.
@@Caliboyjosh10have you tried red candle game’s previous games?
I put this on randomly at work and just listened to the video but when the talking stopped and it was just the soundtrack I got confused and pulled my phone out to check just to see “we’re gonna dance”
Fuck it man I had to subscribe
Hell yeah!
Weird and dumb is my specialty sometimes.
You better have been dancing at work during that section :)
i beat nine sols and lemme say after that i was the demon of sekiro every opportunity to attack was life or death
This was me but in Elden Ring, I was One Punch Man and I finally get why he was bored all the time, I crave that challenge :(
@@Caliboyjosh10 opm sounds so boring
10:50 those two men she treated them like her sons, she literally raised them
I know, sometimes my need to make jokes will ruin certain aspects of the game's story.
I didn't know that. This whole time I thought sols was a shortcut for solarians.
I'm retarded
When you get in that flow state, it is perfection. I don’t think there was a single fight I hated or found boring.
It seems the dancing has worked it's charmed ;)
Eigong's fight was one of the best in gaming history, much like the rest game.
Damn, double the playtime it took me to beat it😱
Lady E was the first boss who made me rethink my jade build multiple times to get some sort of an edge.
Prioritizing the little guys and using your arrows effectively gives you control over the fight, making it trivial.
man
kudos to you for the way you edited back together the ending sequence
the end of this game hits like a truck
Thank you. Loved the ending so much, had to do it justice. 6 months later, still unforgettable.
*cough*
These sequence breaks I don't know anything about, it's speedrunning right?
Dancing segment was 100% best recorded thing I've ever witnessed
Thank you, it was a last minute addition as I couldn't think of a way to showcase my favorite song of the game in a visual way. I got more dumb fun stuff planned for next year as well.
The start of the 3rd area scared the crap out of me
The red wall of fire always gets you at first. It was both scary and dope that we were in a furnace and had to turn it off to traverse it.
I'll check the rest of your channel, see what's there
Thanks, I panicked on every red slash, I seemed to always mess their timings up😰
Recently the videos went a little weird, but hopefully you'll enjoy the overall humor and vibes here.
Ah the dancing section is PHENOMENAL, I love it great work overall 😄
thanks, I'm just getting started :)
I gotta know, on the difficulty spectrum, if it was up there, where would ultrakill be?
I'm still waiting on Act 3 before getting into Ultrakill, as I don't play early access games. But when it releases, I'll be balls deep in that given how much I loved Doom Eternal.
I would make a more legitimate list next time that also includes shooters. But given what I've seen of it over the years like you can parry bullets, I hope it would be up near Sekiro and where Doom Eternal would also be.
Personally, I'd put the game on Violent as a tie with Furi and on Brutal a tie with Nine Sols
Still like their fights, just wish Ji had that phase 3 that was cut for budget reasons :(
The game tells you about internal damage early on, but from a viewer's perspective, I waited until Lady Etheral's fight because that was the first time the healing made a huge difference and so I had to explain it. Before that, it didn't need to be mentioned. I cut and rearranged things to make the video flow better as a viewer which isn't an issue while playing. It's just the way I edit
Ever since playing metal gear rising for the first time I’ve been addicted to parrying. Coolest game mechanic ever made
I finally played MGR game last year, I can't believe no one else has done slicing like that since.

I'll say I was roleplaying as Yi as he would totally do it and I would never😇
But.....the space station gets blown up, so they do all die at the end anyways....so the ones you saved you just delayed their death and would see them all get blown up.

Nine Sols has become one of my new favorite games of all time and I couldn't resist trying my best to make a video to show why it was so damn great.
I hope you'll enjoy what else I have to offer on this channel....it can get weird sometimes 😨
The honeymoon period will pass. Even Margit has more mixups than Eigong.

The dancing bit is so good man, nice moves!
Elden ring is easy yeah, but no where near baby tier... Ni e solos well... I think it its low tier balanced
So...Nine Sols didn't ruin the game, Elden Ring ruined itself with how it was designed and balanced, so the real title should have actually been:
"Elden Ring was so disappointing I would rather tediously edit a video about Nine Sols and gush about it than play Elden Ring"
Also, FromSoftware has made the same medieval style since Dark Souls 1 and as beautiful as some of the landscapes are, I just want something new from them. Sekiro and Bloodborne were so different and Elden Ring felt like a regression back to Dark Souls. Nine Sol's art style is unique and fresh, but obviously style, just like games, it's all subjective.
"There is a THIRD PHASE?" the game
I wish I could dance like you 😭
Took years of practice to get that good ;)

13:36 have you played codevein because that has the hardest duo boss I've ever fought, and I beat goumang instantly on normal mode
I'm just glad to finally enjoy a game on the same level of Hollow Knight with an added story that gripped me
The feeling you have for Nines sols being easy it how I felt with Elden ring, hence the title of the video. I made the mistake of playing these two games back to back and somehow Elden Ring was the one that felt lackluster :(
@ Yea I get that completely. Figured the list was a little bit of a meme in the first place 😬
I probably felt that with Nine Sols cause i did my first play through of HK just before it (yes yes, I’m 7 years late). Both games are amazing though. Nine Sols is definitely hard especially with Yi being seemingly made of paper.
At least in HK you can take a beating, unsurprisingly the hardest bosses are those that turn you back to paper (with the double damage and all that)
PS: This video is damn good 👍
What's that game at the top of your difficulty curve?
I have in fact....played Rain World and it is the hardest game I ever played and made a death montage a few years ago: ua-cam.com/video/rkFZGbwTT-0/v-deo.html
*it's old so it's not amazing compared to my modern videos*
The only game I quit and loved despite how hard it was to figure out how to play it.
The gene eradicator only affects jiequans first phase. His second phase is the exact same and its anyways much harder than the first
When I went back to get footage for that, I didn't fight him and just assumed it was the whole fight. That's an honest mistake, but I don't think it's gonna hurt anyone. The message is still true, don't make the fight easier and ruin the fun.
@Caliboyjosh10 yeah I'm glad I Googled what it does and didn't use it lmao because I was going to when I reached the boss
The game is good, but there is too much clueless walking around and pavillion talking is annoying as hell. Boss fights are great!
The story does get in the way for the genre standards. If you don’t like it, it’s obnoxious. Glad you still finished it despite those issues
Love the fac he is using music from project moon library of ruina:3
I love putting in music that fits the vibe and I got 6,000+ songs I own to choose from. I love Mili and got this song because of them......and haven't played Library of Ruina...yet. I need to look into a cheat engine to save time grinding in that game, as I can't put 100+ hours in games anymore.
@@Caliboyjosh10 library of ruina is 60-90h
Depends how fazy can you learn mechanic not mamy but porly explained recommend watching guide
Abaut grind there is some but you can instal mod that fully negate it
You get few books from opponents you kill those you Burn for cards etc but also need 1 copy for next fights you get books back from fight if you win but lose if you lose it s only annoying in second to last chapter
Also it is a difficult game but only after 10h when you meet a nice
Optional at that moment wall
With a mod to skip the grind the game does seem doable. I’ll have to look into it at some point
Song name? 35:15
"String Theocracy" from the wonderful band "Mili"

Thank you for this video, this game definetely deserves more recognision! It totaly deserves to be the GOTY.
The video itself is great too, good job!
Over the years Nine Sols will be as popular if not more than Hollow Knight. I made a video to showcase why it's a masterpiece and hope it helps spread the word. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Nine Sols ruined ALL games for me....Its the real G.O.A.T 🤩
It somehow took down Elden Ring. I hope it doesn't ruin Lies of P next 😨
It’s a top ten game for me with hollow knight and fromsoft. Nearly perfect tbh
Agreed. It’s insane that Redcandle just nailed it first go. I just hope they don’t go the route of Team Cherry and take forever to make their next game.
0:19 katana zero is baby tier, this game doesn't have any Intention to b hard
It’s a one hit death game, so it ain’t no baby game. It’s tough but resets are fast and dying isn’t a huge setback. it’s the only game on that list besides Sekiro that I would say is better than Nine Sols
Dude, I got s on every hotline miami level, and Katana Zero still made me injure/toss a controller
Better story and gameplay than hollow knight
I love Hollow Knight to death, and I agree with you 100%. Nine Sols isn't just GOTY, but one of my new favorite games😍
To play this game effectively you have to take breaks cuz you will go crazy....
I took two breaks, both for the hardest bosses...still crazy though🤪
I'm going to be that guy. You don't meet jiequan until you beat the small collector boss. (Can't remember his name), so technically, you messed up your order of events
That was a creative choice to show them out of order because it felt more interesting for the video and no complaints thus far
@Caliboyjosh10 you set the narrative of the video as timeline based, changing the order can, mess with someone's understanding if they haven't played the game yet and make the lore harder to understand then it already is
@@Abroman10 No one's complained, so it's not a current real problem, just a hypothetical one
I dont even need to watch this to know that infinitely rolling as your main source of defensive choice is probably the worst design decision to exist in all of the souls games. (Sekiro not included)
Before playing this and then Elden Ring I would have disagreed, but now I agree. Super excited to try out Lies of P next year
@@Caliboyjosh10 Check out Elden Ring Reforged. It's a mod that redesigns a lot of the core balance in the game. Has a Sekiro mode, and has alternate ways to dodge boss attack patterns (jumping, ducking and some others), and adjusted boss attack patterns.

Thank you, it’s always nice to hear this was enjoyed by more than just fans of the game😀
New here, are the random strip teases halfway through the video a common occurence? 😂
It evolves Cthulhu and furries :O
So.....basically it will be more and more if next year, the channel does better🤞
@@Caliboyjosh10 interesting :)
STRING THEOCRACY JUMPSCARE?!
A great song from a great band that fit so well with Lady E's fight 🤩
Haha, I don't heal. I use internal damage as an advantage
I love the internal damage healing. I wish every game had it, not just Nine Sols and Bloodborne. It's so rewarding when playing aggressive
What song is this at 0:41
This song: ua-cam.com/video/1PO2AVXWBhk/v-deo.html
I used the section at the 1:15 mark as it fit so perfectly for the montage.
That game flew under my radar, but it seems to be a blessing as it got 3 years of updates and now currently on sale :)
How much did Eigong destroy you and your sanity?
@ for some reason Eigong was not as difficult. I play in very short chunks like 3-7 attempts per play session, because I can't be throwing controllers against the wall too often 😁 so when I start fresh, brain has had more time to build new connections or something. Also there was less aerial bs and to this day I have no clue how to tell the spirit form from the real lady ethereal 🤦♂️
I'm so jealous you are gonna play grime for the first time, it's the first game I n+ 😅
@@roankai I don't remember if I mentioned it in the video, but it also did take me a while to find out that the non-shadowed face was the real Ethereal. That added up to alot of failures too
Eignong was the only fight that I couldn't beat in one session, didn't help me get better though during those breaks 🤣
After Elden Ring disappointing me, I'm excited to see if Grime's parry-driven combat can deliver on the challenge
There's too many great games, we need a bad year so I can catch-up
Amazing video and amazing skills. May I ask if this video got quite some negativity due to the more extreme opinions?
Still working on that video
My opinion of Nine Sols is it's basically a masterpiece. You'd have to tell me what I said that anyone might have disagreed with, because just look at the comments and you'll find I think one comment kind of trolling my "So good it ruined Elden Ring" tagline but no real hate. I make jokes, some people might not get some of them and take offense, but it's been more positive than even a weeb video that got a 89% like ratio that sexualized a touhou game that some fans didn't like because I found parts of it weird and went with it.
no way you said the Jedi games and hollow knight harder than Elden ring
and the witcher 😂
I might return to it, as I love FromSoftware too much to not give them a second chance, but it was a tarnished experience

I'mma let you finish but 3 phase Eigong was harder than Malenia
(No i haven't done Sekiro yet, don't ask me about Isshin)
I hope not, I was already disappointed with Elden Ring being too easy. I quit but want to return because Malenia is famous for being the hardest boss in the game and want to get there, but game is too boring from a boss design and challenge perspective😥
It’s been a while since Sekiro, but eigong is at least tied, could even be harder, but man it felt so good to finally have a game as good as Sekiro.
Also, great Kanye reference.
@Caliboyjosh10 I mean.... It seemed appropriate cuz I was ten minutes into the video and had to tell *someone* who *understood* what a big deal that was 😅
Funny enough we had a similar experience, I had a sliver of health left on what must've been a triple digit attempt when I finally got her🥵
But yeah, if you're not feeling Elden Ring's vibe, the path to Malenia will probably feel even more tedious, it's way off the beaten path.
on par with isshin in all honesty.

14:58 All Might?
you asking for the song used there? It's from the game's soundtrack and called Death Trap. It felt like it fit there
I loved nine sols, but elden ring is also a masterpiece.
But I quit from boredom after the Queen of Moonlight given how the game offered nothing to hook me, given the rewards, combat, and exploring were both throwing so much and yet none of it was impressing me outside a beautiful landscape :(
I assume the endgame is where all the good bosses and cool armor sets are at?

Im confident you didn't actually process anything you read. The number of obvious mistakes you made is outrageous for a video explaining the story
what mistakes did I make?
@@Abroman10 lots of people engaging in my videos because of simple little mistakes? Why would I wanna change that?😎
I know the game is good i just dont like the party mechanic, i dont use it on dark souls, i didnt played sekiro because of parrying
