“A game that’s not made for everyone isn’t a game that should be made” The paradox of this statement is that if you dumbed down Elden Ring to be for babies, then you’d turn away all the fans that love the challenge, ergo, it’s not for them anymore. There is literally no way to achieve this standard for anything ever, game or otherwise. But Quantum abuses DMCA to silence criticism so fuck whatever he has to say anyway.
That statement made me physically say what. I dont like puzzle games so should all puzzle games not be made? I feel like I lost brain cells after hearing that.
when he said this I immediately just thought of different gaming genres. not everyone like fps, not everyone likes rpgs, not everyone likes racing games, not everyone likes horror games. does that mean these genres shld just be deleted?
People need to just accept that every game isnt going to please them, and thats ok, doesnt mean its inherintly bad (unless its a broken unbalanced piece of shit, obvs) And hell, even on the opposite side people gotta realize people wont see eye to eye on things. Yeah, the one game that's actually trying to be for everyone is WoW imho ... and that's what makes the game increasingly worse. How about pleasing half of MMO fans (which is still a LOT of people) and disappointing the other half, instead of slightly disappointing EVERYONE :D. yeah. and hell, even down to the fundamental core, games are objectively exclusive by default a racing game is not made for people that dont like racing games a fighting game is not made for the people that dont like fighting games a sports game is not made for the people that dont like sports games and so on exclusivity is not a bad thing, more often than not its better because spreading your approach thin, leaves your substance almost run dry so not trying to appeal to the most audiences possible means there's more resources poured into the experience. the world has gotten so bothered by making everything about inclusivity and accessibility (which the latter is fine) that they end up harming the quality of the product, and its kinda sad to see tbh

Art is subjective as story is so yeah that's why Graphical Fidelity is of "almost" universal praise but people like fortnite which isn't realistic or artistically brilliant so yeah... Saying Art good is usually subjective.
One brilliant bit of art direction is how no matter where you are in the world, you can always see the Erdtree. When you get to the mountaintops of giants and see that you're almost into the stratosphere yet still can't see the top of the Erdtree, it really sells how massive and impressive it is, and it makes it all the sweeter when the endgame arrives and you can finally go inside of it.
I laughed out loud when I found out the developer ragging on Elden Ring for having bad UX was a UX designer for Battlefield 2042. My dude, you are in no position to tell anyone a damn thing about UX.
I always leveled up Vigor/Vitality in Demon's Souls because of the item weight limit, so by doing that, I was able to both carry more items and have higher HP as well.
@Christopher Regan Funny thing is you don't even need THAT much vigor to prevent yourself from being 1 shotted, with just 25 vigor my character still managed to survive getting hit by Rahdan...did I still panic roll till I used my last flask...yes, but still lol
or do what the average player does: use a wiki. This way you can find out what are the good builds, where the good/important items are, the good tactics to beat each boss and how to realistically do the questlines. I am not entirely sarcastic either, just look at the percentages of the achievements. The secret ending that requires you to do a questline has more completions than the standard ending (6.5% more as of now). This means that among the people that completed the game only once and got only 1 of the endings there are more players that got the secret ending. To get this kind of consistency in Elden Ring's contrived questlines it means that most of the players used a guide in their fist playthrough.
"You lose literally everything when you die." Ignoring the fact that you don't lose everything, just your runes, which you can easily pick up with a button press. Y'know what game you actually do lose EVERYTHING when you die? Minecraft, one of the most popular and sold games of all time. I guess every single person who plays that game has no family because they drop all their items when they die.
Two years later I'm here as a first time player on souls games. Picked up Elden ring literally 4 days ago. I'm getting absolutelly shit on by every single enemy. And I can safely say this game is fucking amazing.

I said before that the first guys review was FAR WORSE than Quantums, he didn't even play the game what so ever, but he wasn't such a huge POS as a human being and didn't dig his grave deeper and deeper like Quantum did. Dark souls 4. If this game was released 20 years ago before the console good game drought it'd be ignored. People are starving for anything. Lost ark was praised as much as E.R and thats a glorified mobile game. So this lets me know Elden ring is shit. If it's popular it's probably garbage and I'm right.

It's a very narcissistic view on things. "If I can't enjoy it, why does it even exist?" I didn't like the Soulsborne series until Bloodborne and Sekiro came out. But I wouldn't want Demon Souls or Dark Souls to not exist. The playstyle of those games just don't appeal to me. That's fine.

The thing with quantum saying that “oh dark souls fans already knew what they were doing” is blatantly false as I played Elden ring as my first souls game and I still had a good time
My exact experience w the game rn. I put it down after killing margit for like 3 months then came back and killed godrick and put it down again for like 2 years. I am now about 60 hours into my first play through and 90% of that occurred within that last week.
When I started I hated the game so so much. I would get clapped so easily and I didn't know what to do. Thought of quitting and uninstalling several times. But 700+ hrs later and multiple playthroughs. All I gotta say is stick to it. Learn from your mistakes! Also prepare before hand, get to know the bosses strengths and weaknesses. Trust me boys. You'll go from: "oh nooooo! whyyyyy!? what happened!?" To: "hold my beer!" This is coming from someone who never played a single fromsoft game before elden ring. Elden ring got me hooked and had to go back and beat the og dark souls, demon's souls, bloodboure and sekiro. So be careful, once you feel your true power come out you'll be hooked!!! You just gotta get over that inital very steep learning curve. DON'T GIVE UP!!!

Got bored one day picked it up again, watched some guide and here I am ... achievement hunting in all of the Dark Souls game and Elden Ring.
I feel that elden ring is the most accessible out if the souls games, since you can just go a farm some Ai while exploring getting fat on runes for upgrades, every boss has a super weakness so people saying it's too hard are crazy man, this game is the easiest out if all of the souls games but you the player can make it hard just by not exploring fully and just going after the bosses.
Hard disagree. Sekiro has that title as the lack of rpg mechanics means there's no need to find a good build and you can instantly start learning the mechanics. This also makes it potentially more challenging due to not being able to cheese wins by over leveling.
As Iron Pineapple said; "The game is as hard as you make it" Having trouble with a boss? Channel your inner shounen protagonist and train until you get stronger. A certain playstyle not working for you? Try something else. Summons, magic, plenty of ways you can make the game work for you. The fact that Elden Ring is open world means that if there's a boss you're having trouble with, you can just run away and explore somewhere else. The best part is, everywhere in Elden Ring's open world is lovingly crafted.
I don´t get, what kind of gamers these reviewers are. Why is Quantum crying like a child? Whiny Babys like him should try something like Blood, Doom 2: Plutonia or Return to Castle Wolfenstein :D

My cynicism just sees desperate reviewers trying to gain clicks through outrage. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes not. There's a reason he kept making videos on the game. It got clicks.
Silver lining, he's probably not going to be able to keep that up for long with the bridges he's burning. If he's going about another game in the same way once the buzz around Elden Ring dies down, then everyone can notice the pattern and see that he's just ragebaiting and start to ignore his vapid opinion.
I absolutely agree and a lot of the media works in similar ways by exaggerating things for clicks, it's unfortunately a method that gets attention. In QuantumTV's case though it goes much much deeper than that. It started off being about Elden Ring until he threatened to copyright strike Mischief and some other UA-camr's called him out for it and people discovered some really nasty things he's said which continues to this day. It's a deep rabbit hole.

@@miketike3246 I agree - in the same vein that an 8 year old is a lot more grown up than a 3 year old. Personally I dislike ER because it is just so very janky. I can deal with some level of weird input schemes in action RPG's - I love both witcher and gothic after all. But the souls games just deviate too far from anything that I consider enjoyable game design and hence I do not enjoy them. Why is the pause function hidden in a submenu for example? If you can look past these things and enjoy the game, I'm happy for you but personally I expect more polish on functional game elements. Someone who pretends that this puts me on the level of Quantum TV just isn't someone I can take serious.
@@stefankuhn7830 I like the way you present your dislike for the game, you don’t really come off as an asshole, but the pause function isn’t meant to be a thing to enhance the experience. Everywhere in elden ring is meant to keep you on edge, thats the whole point, and adding a pause feature would mess with that experience. If you want to pause and have a break, then you can take the time to go through the menus and do the weird pause menu thing.
I die in two hits also, but I am just dumb and level strength, Dex, endurance, and faith(or what ever faith is in the game) so I literally get two shot from the most easiest bosses. My viger is currently at 26 so I have no health.

After finally just starting elden ring yesterday i don't see how ppl still think it is hard, i mean hell, they have many ways to easily get runes even going as far as to give a seemingly unlimited way of getting golden rune (1)s, all u have to do is run around and break glowing skulls, go back to a grace to reset, find and break more, rinse and repeat
My 3yr old daughter plays Elden Ring. Granted she runs around chasing the goats that go Sonic the Hedgehog which is just absolutely precious to watch however, one day she ran in to a soldier, wouldn't give me back the controller and bless her heart she button mashed her way to victory. She was so proud of herself. In conclusion, my daughter has more skill than these guys. 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for all the likes! She still loves watching and playing "Daddy Game" lol. Hey I'm way late. But Elden Ring was my first From Soft game. And boy I didn't know what I got into. Starting out i got destroyed regularly. But then I did something pivotal. I didn't give up. I kept playing. And I've beaten the game 6 separate times now.. Elden Ring changed my life as a gamer. It is an absolute masterpiece. Also that guy who shit on Varre was clearly maidenless. Radagon’s cutscene when you enter the Erdtree goes so fucking hard, honestly my favorite intro to a boss in Soulsborne. Maliketh’s phase transition is also incredible. So many memorable moments in this game that you can pick from tbh
Don't get me wrong, I often go on tangents myself, but I know the difference between being objective and subjective, I am more often than not, subjective, as I say my opinion and when I do so, it's with the obvious statement that it's my opinion, others may agree or disagree, I merely do my best to convey my opinion in such a way I don't try to piss off everyone. One of my buddies refunded the game after barely playing. His story is as follows: He starts the game, talks to Varre, and then attacks him after being called "maidenless", keeps dying to him, ignores him and goes towards the big golden tree because it was the "critical path", gets his ass kicked by the Tree Sentinel a few times, and refunds. He ended up re-purchasing the game a few weeks later and now can't stop playing as he's nearing the end.
I'm a 46 year single mother of two small children with a job. I loved this game! Never played any souls games and yes it took me until a week ago to beat it but it is the best 60 but I ever spent. The game is beautiful and challenging I just loved it!

The funniest thing about the whole "easy mode" debate is that Elden Ring offers the player more tools to make the game easier than any other FromSoft game.
well... Elden Ring gave these tools and subsequently NERFED these items and weapons in further patches/updates of the game... so it ended up being pointless... I hope people out there preserve the original version 1.00 of the game, when I play it I want to play the ORIGINAL thing, with everything "broken" as I may wish (because after all these things are OPTIONAL)
The people insulting this game are 'Natural born Contrarians'. Some people, when they see something held high and praised are deeply compelled by instinct and, not by conscious thought to find the reason said thing is to be scorned. This is evident by how FAR they go in the opposite direction of consensus. Basically, They're weak willed idiots not in control of themselves...lol... The Souls games kicked my ass and made me stop. Guess you haven't played the game right". They want to feel so special about playing a souls game and they dont want the games to be popular. I've seen this first hand.
The “go unalive yourself” comment really hits hard. Part of why I started Elden Ring was seeing videos on the phenomenon of people dealing with mental health struggles by playing souls games. I’m early on in Elden Ring, but it’s showing me that anything can be accomplished if you don’t give up. His words were cruel, especially to this community. In the words of those who came before me, “Don’t you dare go hollow.”
I felt this. EldenRing is the only game that made me feel alive again after going through some dark times. I feel at home everytime I am in the Lands Between. It gets super frustrating when you hit a certain point that you fight a boss for hours on end only to call it quits at one point to grind some more to boost your fighting chance and still spend another ungodly amount of time for the next attempt. But all those frustration gets washed away once you finally conquer that hurdle. Like shit, I almost lost my sanity fighting the Fire Giant my first playthrough due to the godawful times I had to ran back, buff up just to die multiple times I can't even remember how many. It was exhausting af but I never quit until I broke that mfs leg and eventually slayed the fkin poor bastard, Only to experience same goddamned thing when I finally faced Maliketh. 😂 But I never did quit because through the frustrations and roadblocks I find EldenRing very much enjoyable. That was only the first playthrough which was vanilla hack and slash af and I haven't even tried the plethora of different builds I could make. I didn't even understand most of the movesets, buffs and Talismans the first playthrough but I still found the game enjoyable. EldenRing is game of the year and it fuckin deserved that spot. PS. Elden Ring is my first Soulsborne so it was a batism by fire. 😂 But I finished the hell out of that game and still playing it to this day.
Kinda makes sense why every few messages will either be self depreciating jokes or "don't give up!" Recently fought the mimic boss and put down the message "why is it always weak foe?"
I recently introduced my dad to elden ring. He’s about 57 and isn’t new to video games as he has played all the halos and beat them on legendary, but never played a souls borne game. We created his character and I was letting him learn the game. He went from dying to a wandering noble to bitch slapping godrick. Not because he’s insanely good at the game but because he didn’t give up and tried different options and used the vast amount of mechanics the game provides. Now when I see him dodge roll around an enemy attack or guard counter I think back to when he was just starting the game. The struggle is what makes the game fun for him. He likes challenges and when you overcome a challenge and become even more powerful it’s a great feeling.

He talked about the controls. Bloodborne being my first souls game a few months ago….i spent 7 hours in central Yharnam before even getting to the Cleric Beast. Persevered and have since finished the DLC. Gotta keep at it to get better.

One point I want to make about the "toxic community" - when I started playing, the starting area was absolutely littered with messages like "Glory to First Time!" and "Praise the First Time!" with accompanying gestures of applause. I never felt welcomed by any community just for starting up their favorite game. If that's toxic, then I don't want what he thinks isn't.
On the guy's now deleted twitter, he continually attacked TLOU 2 for having a gay couple in it. In ReviewtechUSA's video, here: ua-cam.com/video/xpsJbhbfPhI/v-deo.html Rich produces the receipts that QuantumTV tried to hide by deleting his twitter. The guy is a psychopathic narcissist with delusions of grandeur, and he tried to bully a MINOR with legal threats. That's how scummy that guy is. If his vision of civility is calling TLOU2 devs horrible things and how gay people shouldn't be able to marry is peaceful or protesting in his view, its no wonder people telling him that HE is doing something _WRONG_ are the bad guys, and are toxic, and infringing on _him,_ or _his copyright._
Same man, this is my first souls game , the community even helped me with some difficult bosses and we some legendary players such as “let me solo her” help other people, and now after I finish the game am helping other gamers with some of the bosses
I have no idea where they get "toxic community" from. It's not a ranked PvP focus game and not a real multiplayer, your only engagement with community is just the massages they leave in-game. Pretty sure these people are spending most the time just arguing randomly on Twitter and based on that they decided that the community is toxic...
@@BleachRush It came from people outside the game saying stuff like "If you beat X boss with magic/summons/whatever you should kys" Also while there's not a lot of interaction with other players a lot of the time (at least in the previous games) it comes from invasions. If you're a new player you're probably going to get killed and potentially lose a lot of souls which makes it really easy to see the invader part of the community as toxic assholes regardless of how true it is.
Dude… My father started playing this by only watching me play it. He said “holy shit this game looks dope” and he only plays Windows card games. He didn’t like dieing over and over and over again but in the end he found ways to enjoy it. Most of the times he was just wondering around in the game enjoying the scenery.
I have a friend like this. They don’t like playing the actual game really cus they just don’t have a video game brain but they love watching someone play because of the setting and everything. They seem to get just as much enjoyment out of watching a boss battle or new area being explored as someone who’s actually playing it themself.
Same here, except it’s kind of flipped for me. My father actually showed me the game. It was then that we both learned how amazing (yet difficult) this game is. Now he watches me struggle trying to get a past the first boss. 😅

Guilty but only because of curiosity, i had never really played an rpg (except skyrim) where you could hit npc like that when first playing dark souls 1, i was so surprised I hit him two more times to see what it would do and firelink shrine became a death trap
It's even funnier because, with the exception of *Beast Clergyman, an NPC will NEVER attack without warning even when provoked. They will usually just grunt in pain if you accidentally hit them, persisting will get at least one more warning before they fight back. You cannot "accidentally" provoke them, you have to intentionally deal significant damage before they will fight. They just fight HARD, which makes it less fun to bully them. *He turns hostile when you next meet him automatically, but you respawn behind a pillar placed in his LOS. If he's too tough the devs made sure you can rest/warp safely as he will not spot you until you move closer to him. He can only ambush you once, after that you are safe to prepare.

This game pulled me out of the gaming limbo I have been in for years. Got me away from FPS, repetitive story-telling and boring mechanics. Love the challenging walls you run into and breaking through them after gaining new skills
1st time Fromsoft player here. In the first hour or two I'll admit, I struggled. The stats and systems were a tad overwhelming at first and I had no idea what was going on with anything. But it's as you said; I learned. I took time to look up guides for absolute beginners, practiced combat on weaker enemies and now I can say I'm fairly okay at the game. But it's BY FAR the best game I've played in a veryyyy long time, maybe ever. One moment that will stay with me forever will easily be wandering the nearby swamp/lake area near the start. Very low level with nothing but my katana +1, starting armour and Torrent. Suddenly a dragon swoops down onto a bonfire and I shit myself. But the way the dragon moved, the visuals of the fire breath, the intesity of the music, omg it was thrilling. And I can proudly say that I took the beast down without dying. I quickly got his moveset figured out, stayed at a distance on horseback and baited out his big firebreath attack, and quickly sprinted to his hind legs and hacked away. Rinse and repeat for 15 minutes and he fell. I then got too cocky and got humbled by some bats lol. Sorry for the big comment but this game is my new absolute favourite and I refuse to play anything else until I 100% it.

Art is subjective as story is so yeah that's why Graphical Fidelity is of "almost" universal praise but people like fortnite which isn't realistic or artistically brilliant so yeah... Saying Art good is usually subjective.
One brilliant bit of art direction is how no matter where you are in the world, you can always see the Erdtree. When you get to the mountaintops of giants and see that you're almost into the stratosphere yet still can't see the top of the Erdtree, it really sells how massive and impressive it is, and it makes it all the sweeter when the endgame arrives and you can finally go inside of it.

I always leveled up Vigor/Vitality in Demon's Souls because of the item weight limit, so by doing that, I was able to both carry more items and have higher HP as well.
@Christopher Regan Funny thing is you don't even need THAT much vigor to prevent yourself from being 1 shotted, with just 25 vigor my character still managed to survive getting hit by Rahdan...did I still panic roll till I used my last flask...yes, but still lol

This way you can find out what are the good builds, where the good/important items are, the good tactics to beat each boss and how to realistically do the questlines.
I am not entirely sarcastic either, just look at the percentages of the achievements. The secret ending that requires you to do a questline has more completions than the standard ending (6.5% more as of now). This means that among the people that completed the game only once and got only 1 of the endings there are more players that got the secret ending. To get this kind of consistency in Elden Ring's contrived questlines it means that most of the players used a guide in their fist playthrough.

It's a very narcissistic view on things. "If I can't enjoy it, why does it even exist?" I didn't like the Soulsborne series until Bloodborne and Sekiro came out. But I wouldn't want Demon Souls or Dark Souls to not exist. The playstyle of those games just don't appeal to me. That's fine.

When I started I hated the game so so much. I would get clapped so easily and I didn't know what to do. Thought of quitting and uninstalling several times. But 700+ hrs later and multiple playthroughs. All I gotta say is stick to it. Learn from your mistakes! Also prepare before hand, get to know the bosses strengths and weaknesses. Trust me boys. You'll go from: "oh nooooo! whyyyyy!? what happened!?"

This is coming from someone who never played a single fromsoft game before elden ring. Elden ring got me hooked and had to go back and beat the og dark souls, demon's souls, bloodboure and sekiro. I feel that elden ring is the most accessible out if the souls games, since you can just go a farm some Ai while exploring getting fat on runes for upgrades, every boss has a super weakness so people saying it's too hard are crazy man, this game is the easiest out if all of the souls games but you the player can make it hard just by not exploring fully and just going after the bosses.

Hard disagree. Sekiro has that title as the lack of rpg mechanics means there's no need to find a good build and you can instantly start learning the mechanics. This also makes it potentially more challenging due to not being able to cheese wins by over leveling.

I absolutely agree and a lot of the media works in similar ways by exaggerating things for clicks, it's unfortunately a method that gets attention. In QuantumTV's case though it goes much much deeper than that. It started off being about Elden Ring until he threatened to copyright strike Mischief and some other UA-camr's called him out for it and people discovered some really nasty things he's said which continues to this day. It's a deep rabbit hole.

Personally I dislike ER because it is just so very janky. I can deal with some level of weird input schemes in action RPG's - I love both witcher and gothic after all. But the souls games just deviate too far from anything that I consider enjoyable game design and hence I do not enjoy them. Why is the pause function hidden in a submenu for example? If you can look past these things and enjoy the game, I'm happy for you but personally I expect more polish on functional game elements.

Everywhere in elden ring is meant to keep you on edge, thats the whole point, and adding a pause feature would mess with that experience. If you want to pause and have a break, then you can take the time to go through the menus and do the weird pause menu thing.
I die in two hits also, but I am just dumb and level strength, Dex, endurance, and faith(or what ever faith is in the game) so I literally get two shot from the most easiest bosses. My viger is currently at 26 so I have no health.

After finally just starting elden ring yesterday i don't see how ppl still think it is hard, i mean hell, they have many ways to easily get runes even going as far as to give a seemingly unlimited way of getting golden rune (1)s, all u have to do is run around and break glowing skulls, go back to a grace to reset, find and break more, rinse and repeat

Hey I'm way late. But Elden Ring was my first From Soft game. And boy I didn't know what I got into. Starting out i got destroyed regularly. But then I did something pivotal. I didn't give up. One of my buddies refunded the game after barely playing. His story is as follows:
He starts the game, talks to Varre, and then attacks him after being called "maidenless", keeps dying to him, ignores him and goes towards the big golden tree because it was the "critical path", gets his ass kicked by the Tree Sentinel a few times, and refunds.
He ended up re-purchasing the game a few weeks later and now can't stop playing as he's nearing the end.
Really don't understand this urge to attack Varre some individuals seem to have.

The funniest thing about the whole "easy mode" debate is that Elden Ring offers the player more tools to make the game easier than any other FromSoft game.
Why take the time to actually learn the game and gather those tools when you could just *flip a switch*

It gets super frustrating when you hit a certain point that you fight a boss for hours on end only to call it quits at one point to grind some more to boost your fighting chance and still spend another ungodly amount of time for the next attempt. But all those frustration gets washed away once you finally conquer that hurdle.
Like shit, I almost lost my sanity fighting the Fire Giant my first playthrough due to the godawful times I had to ran back, buff up just to die multiple times I can't even remember how many. It was exhausting af but I never quit until I broke that mfs leg and eventually slayed the fkin poor bastard, Only to experience same goddamned thing when I finally faced Maliketh. 😂 But I never did quit because through the frustrations and roadblocks I find EldenRing very much enjoyable. That was only the first playthrough which was vanilla hack and slash af and I haven't even tried the plethora of different builds I could make. I didn't even understand most of the movesets, buffs and Talismans the first playthrough but I still found the game enjoyable.
EldenRing is game of the year and it fuckin deserved that spot.
PS. Elden Ring is my first Soulsborne so it was a batism by fire. 😂 But I finished the hell out of that game and still playing it to this day.

I recently introduced my dad to elden ring. He’s about 57 and isn’t new to video games as he has played all the halos and beat them on legendary, but never played a souls borne game. We created his character and I was letting him learn the game. He went from dying to a wandering noble to bitch slapping godrick. Not because he’s insanely good at the game but because he didn’t give up and tried different options and used the vast amount of mechanics the game provides. Now when I see him dodge roll around an enemy attack or guard counter I think back to when he was just starting the game. The struggle is what makes the game fun for him. He likes challenges and when you overcome a challenge and become even more powerful it’s a great feeling.

One point I want to make about the "toxic community" - when I started playing, the starting area was absolutely littered with messages like "Glory to First Time!" and "Praise the First Time!" with accompanying gestures of applause. I never felt welcomed by any community just for starting up their favorite game. If that's toxic, then I don't want what he thinks isn't.

I have no idea where they get "toxic community" from. It's not a ranked PvP focus game and not a real multiplayer, your only engagement with community is just the massages they leave in-game.

Also while there's not a lot of interaction with other players a lot of the time (at least in the previous games) it comes from invasions. If you're a new player you're probably going to get killed and potentially lose a lot of souls which makes it really easy to see the invader part of the community as toxic assholes regardless of how true it is.

Dude… My father started playing this by only watching me play it. He said “holy shit this game looks dope” and he only plays Windows card games. He didn’t like dieing over and over and over again but in the end he found ways to enjoy it. Most of the times he was just wondering around in the game enjoying the scenery.

I have a friend like this. They don’t like playing the actual game really cus they just don’t have a video game brain but they love watching someone play because of the setting and everything. They seem to get just as much enjoyment out of watching a boss battle or new area being explored as someone who’s actually playing it themself.
Same here, except it’s kind of flipped for me. My father actually showed me the game. It was then that we both learned how amazing (yet difficult) this game is. Now he watches me struggle trying to get a past the first boss. 😅

Tbh you have no right to talk about difficulty. It's literally open world game therefore if you go boss rush you gona get killed and pointing towards optional boss's and say they are hard is just like pointing to the sun and say it's bright

Guilty but only because of curiosity, i had never really played an rpg (except skyrim) where you could hit npc like that when first playing dark souls 1, i was so surprised I hit him two more times to see what it would do and firelink shrine became a death trap

It's even funnier because, with the exception of *Beast Clergyman, an NPC will NEVER attack without warning even when provoked.
They will usually just grunt in pain if you accidentally hit them, persisting will get at least one more warning before they fight back. You cannot "accidentally" provoke them, you have to intentionally deal significant damage before they will fight. They just fight HARD, which makes it less fun to bully them.
*He turns hostile when you next meet him automatically, but you respawn behind a pillar placed in his LOS. If he's too tough the devs made sure you can rest/warp safely as he will not spot you until you move closer to him. He can only ambush you once, after that you are safe to prepare.

This was my first souls game.... ever. Completely new to the style, with a decent amount of fighting game experience. I died a lot, learned, and then continued. Now on my 3rd run of the game.

1st time Fromsoft player here. In the first hour or two I'll admit, I struggled. The stats and systems were a tad overwhelming at first and I had no idea what was going on with anything. But it's as you said; I learned. I took time to look up guides for absolute beginners, practiced combat on weaker enemies and now I can say I'm fairly okay at the game. But it's BY FAR the best game I've played in a veryyyy long time, maybe ever. One moment that will stay with me forever will easily be wandering the nearby swamp/lake area near the start. Very low level with nothing but my katana +1, starting armour and Torrent. Suddenly a dragon swoops down onto a bonfire and I shit myself. But the way the dragon moved, the visuals of the fire breath, the intesity of the music, omg it was thrilling. And I can proudly say that I took the beast down without dying. I quickly got his moveset figured out, stayed at a distance on horseback and baited out his big firebreath attack, and quickly sprinted to his hind legs and hacked away. Rinse and repeat for 15 minutes and he fell. I then got too cocky and got humbled by some bats lol.
Sorry for the big comment but this game is my new absolute favourite and I refuse to play anything else until I 100% it.

A friend of mine never played any souls game and when he started elden ring he accidentally skipped the tutorial and attacked that guy for calling him maidenless. Rather than quitting he fought for 2 hours and beat him finally and kept going until now. Some people are just losers who don't want to do anything hard 🤷♂️
