When the “greatest college football team of all time” discussion arises - there are a few teams that generally get brought up.
The 2004 USC team that became just the second team to start and finish the season as the No. 1 team in the AP Poll and dominated teams by an average margin of 25.2 points per game in route to a BCS Championship.
Or there was the 2009 Alabama team that jumpstarted Nick Saban’s reign of terror in Tuscaloosa and obliterated a powerhouse Florida team in the SEC title game. That year’s Heisman winner Mark Ingram and what would finish as the No. 2 defense in the country led Saban’s juggernaut to an undefeated season and captured Saban’s first title at Alabama.
Some like to look longingly through their rose tinted glasses at some relics of the past - like the 1945 Army team or one of the Notre Dame powerhouse teams of yester-year.
Of course there is a handful of other teams that often get thrown into this mix - the 2005 Texas Longhorns, 2013 Florida State Seminoles and so on and so forth… But without ANY hyperbole… There is no question that the greatest college football team EVER assembled is the 2001 Miami Hurricanes.
Today we present The GREATEST College Football Team EVER Assembled.

In recruiting they called that winning the state of Miami. Howard Schnellenberger (may he RIP) had a philosophy: draw an imaginary line from I-4 from Daytona Beach to Tampa and declare everything below that the State of Miami. They went after the best players in South Florida, other players from around the state and some elite recruits from around the country. If Miami could lock up all the South Florida kids it would be hard to beat them. Hell the state of Florida itself along with Texas, California and maybe Ohio are the best places to get college football recruits

The impact of those 2000-2002 Hurricane squads on the league cannot be understated.
One of the least talented athletes on the roster was Ken Dorsey, and he went 38-2 as a starting QB in college football, coached Cam Newton into a Pro Bowl/Super Bowl QB, and helped Josh Allen become one of the best QB's in the league as his QB coach.

I was a huge college football fan back then and i used to watch the canes, noles, gators, golden knights, and bulls. Florida has always had the best high school football talent in the country. Back then the rest of the country didn't know it so these kids stayed in state. Now the secret is out and a lot of them end up at ohio state, clemson, Alabama, michigan, etc. But in those days they stayed in state. Now what makes fla a hotbed of high school football talent? They r, by far, and I've been watching college football since 1979-80 when I was in grade school, the best college football team I've witnessed and there's a gap afterwards! I'd put 2004 USC second! But Miami just might be the best collegiate team ever in any amateur sport! I mean seriously - 17 first round picks off of one squad! U will absolutely never see that again! Truly absurd! What I love most about that stat is that as good of talent as 'Bama brags about having each season, they'll never catch that record! This past years tigers will probably be recognized as one of the greatest teams of all time. Just give people time to see what they really did. See, a good bit of that team is still in college. Not to mention, very often people don’t know how great something was until years later when they look back and are like “wow that was one of the greatest teams ever. No disrespect to the huskers but they're not beating Miami and what made the U even more special was how they did in the NFL and the amount of first round picks.

Imagine if that ref doesn’t call that bs, this may have kept some more FL talent in state, especially in Miami.
