Sometimes people forget that not everyone can afford a $500 console, since they have more important bills to pay. Usually when someone complains about the SS it's someone who has a good Pc or a premium console (or can afford them), but they aren't the target audience of the SS. It's easy to trash talk the graphics and downgrades when u have another options, but if u don't have a lot of money or u just want a simple console to use the gamepass, the SS is a really good product. Before complaining and saying that the console shouldn't exist, put your self on the product's main audience shoes. By the way, nice video Austin 👍
I waited to save up for the Series X and when this new refreshed S dropped, I picked it up. Well worth it for me personally. I think the savings helped, got some new peripherals and expansion card. I think for the majority of people just looking for the next generation, Microsoft is doing pretty well for them. It’s not perfect but then again, nothing ever is for human beings. Except dogs. Dogs are perfect.
The price is silly when you consider that memory prices have plummeted in the last 3 years. It's like the only thing tech related that's actually gotten cheaper. I'd be shocked if the cost to make this is any more than a series s was 3 years ago. Series s white should have dropped to 250 and this slot into 300.
I wholeheartedly agree. As long as what you play is fun, it shouldn't matter what it played on. My only gripe with the new S is that it shouldn't have had a price increase. SSD prices have plummeted in the past couple of years and this just feels wrong that it costs $50 more for an extra 512GB when you can buy a standard 1TB NVMe for less than that. And we all know that they do not pay consumer prices for their parts.
The tiny size of the Series S is what makes it my most important console atm along with my Switch. I also have a Series X and PS5. But I travel a lot and Series S just fits into a small back pack it's so easy to take with me so I can still be my gamer self, plus I only have a 4k tv home, the apartments I visit outside of my country have 1080p screens. I know most people aren't in my situation. But just wanted to add that the size which makes it almost a portable is also a selling point, for me Series S is kinda vital if I wanna keep playing Street Fighter 6 and Starfield regularly. I loved your video! The new black Series S I think is the most beautiful looking Xbox ever made, so sleek and small it's just beautiful to me!
Mean I have a travel case for my ps5 and have taken it away with me, but the series S in travel bag is much smaller and easier to move about although I chose a small bag for my S, I know there are bigger versions. The series s would be better travel companion if you have a screen attached.
I commend Microsoft for understanding that gamers aren't a monolith. Not everyone's only care in the world is FPS and fidelity. Someone that only gets the yearly madden or cod doesn't need to spend $500. Game pass gamers with its 800 8-bit indie games doesn't need the latest and greatest to enjoy their gaming experience. Nor does someone who has the same TV they had when the Xbox One came out and doesn't want to get rid of a perfectly good working TV. They don't need to waste $500 on features they can't use.
I think the biggest story here is how cheap it is via Xbox all access. The biggest series S issue was the storage, and now that's partly resolved. The series S has been treated unfair since it was even shown, and the split screen issue (that is about the lower RAM) just feels like the people who always hated it are happy they found something worth shouting about.
@@juicygalaxy773Yh, it's meant to be a downgrade from the X that's the whole point of it. It's cheaper and much more accessible to next gen gaming compared to either the XsX or the PS5
The Series S is a great option of you are playing on a 1080P TV/monitor. The Series S is more than capable of pushing out framerates up to 120 fps at 1080P. Series X would be overkill in that scenario.
I absolutely love mine and it helps that it’s so small and I can take it everywhere with work or class, it’s perfect as long as you keep a realistic expectation and everyone loves that it loads so dang fast! And looks pretty PREEM for the supposed budget option💪🤓
@@AFatOcelotI’ve been on Xbox one x since it came out so I think getting a series s will be great for me. My one x finally died after I’ve been waiting for them to do a refresh on series x, since it’s rumored to come out next year I’ll get a series s for now and pick up the new series x next year for Christmas
The price for the series x was a huge turn off for most people, me too. I picked up a series s then they first came out. I upgraded to teh series x recently and got it for like $430 after tax from target because they had a huge student discount. i love it, especially since I still have all my old 360 games.
I have the 360GB, and besides the fact of the small storage, I love it! Got it after I got my PS5, and now I want the X. The S was the perfect excuse to go back to Xbox. My last one was the 360. I'm so glad I did.
First thing I wanna say is that I think the Series S is a great console. I live with someone who has one, and having played some games on it, it most definitely has purpose in this console market. With that being said, BG3 proves that it is in fact holding this generation back (albeit, probably not as much as people think). So I believe that Microsoft needs to do what I've been saying since these consoles got announced, especially now that Xbox one is mostly phased out. The need to allow developers to have two separate versions games. The big boi Chungus version for the mini fridge, and a toned down, not as extravagant version for the S. This way, people who shelled out for the big console aren't hindered in their gaming. Plus, if you have a series S as your main console, odds are that you aren't a hardcore gamer whose top priority is resolution and frames, and likely wouldn't care if you had a more simple version of the game.
The thing with BG3 is that they can optimise it for the S if they really want to but they don't want to play ball and Microsoft's policies are of feature parity on S and X consoles meaning they're serious about both being the next gen platforms. That goes for all studios that make games. Heck Microsoft will probably help them fix the issue! It's not holding anything back .. lesser hardware requires a different approach to scaling things back. Maybe that's why the Devs can't sleep at night lol
The series S can handle more than they portray. They refer to what they can get done by the teraflops of the processors not by the actual functionality. In theory, the series S toned down versions should be able to handle everything the S can technically. Though it cannot handle it visually hence why they targeted a lesser resolution. So these statements of the series S holding the newer generation back is bogus. They don’t have the ability to work separate at the same pace for two different tech specs because the series S doesn’t have its own dev kit is what they really saying here. Consumers support of statements they don’t understand generally is giving developers the ability to take a mile from an inch. They pushed Hogwarts back because last gen consoles couldn’t cut it in time not the Series S. Features a ps2 or original Xbox could produce is now hard for the series S to produce such as split screen? Come on now that doesn’t even sound right. Smh
I went for a PS5 this generation since I still love watching Blu ray and DVD movies and I already own a PC for Microsoft's exclusive games, the lack of a disc drive is what killed the Series S for me
I really hope Microsoft release a séries x in a form factor of series s. I bought the series s not because is cheaper I bought because is small and fit into my backpack. I work 15 days in a drilling rig at sea and I always take this console with me with a portable monitor from azorpa. I also hope one day Microsoft make their own screen that attache on series s like those third company’s did (gstory and xscreen) but they are very expensive. I found a place on series s in my life style, this video game is amazing not for his price but with everything that came in the package (nextgen, form factor and gamepass).
01:30 I had a friend ask me to play a game since I had game pass, they asked me to see if it was worth buying, dug up some UA-cam videos, then asked for me to show them some stuff in the game to see if it was worth spending the money. The game was 30 bucks on sale (on Steam, yes it was cross platform), game pass was 10 bucks for me. This is why I keep game pass To try out games that are over 10 bucks, and to also help friends see how they look. :)
Black Friday had deals as low as $220 for the Series S. What a steal. Not to mention it can play games off the cloud if you hae good internet. The cloud versions are the Series X versions, so you can play the "better" version most of the time if you have the speed.
The series s is a fine console to have and is cheap enough for a lot of consumers which is a positive. A downgraded series x is not a bad thing. The main problem with the series s is the memory constraints as that can have a significant impact of the performance of the machine as it isnt athe same memory speeds as the series x. This is evident by another console, the nintendo switch. From MVG(which is good channel btw), he tested legend of zelda:TOTK with a hacked switch that could configure the clock speeds and memory speeds of the gpu, cpu and ram. Basically to achieve the completely smooth 30 fps in the toughest area, the memory speeds had to be increased. So for me the RAM speeds is the main problem that developers are having with the console and that is why there are so many complaints about it. Edit: Also I want to add that increasing the clock speeds of the GPU and CPU didn't affect performance as much as the RAM.
Also you can buy 2.5 inch 2tb ssd and ssd enclosure and plug that into the series s and you get a storage upgrade. That's what I did. Yeah not all games play on the new ssd but moving them between storage isn't a problem only takes a couple minutes at most. Though preferably I'd go with a 4tb ssd. I also have an xbox one with a 4tb hard drive and its basically half way full. But that's basically a hundred games lol
I'm not a fan of this video. $150 for a 1tb ssd for Xbox is not a good deal. 30fps games on these consoles is not acceptable. Star field is not that cutting edge graphically. I just disagree with all of this.
I have the white Series S with an expansion card bringing the total up to 1tb which is enough for me considering I bought for couch gaming when I don't want to sit behind my PC. It was a lot cheaper and actually in stock when I bought. Back then neither Series X nor PS5 was in stock for months. Starfield is quite playable on Series S I think, it doesn't really bother me that it runs on 30 fps. If I want 60 fps and better graphics I just jump on my PC.
@@AFatOcelot another stupid comment! I got my series S second hand and been perfectly fine. I upgraded it with a 512gb then a 1tb expansion card. The series X is still a fair bit of money and bulky.
I use my mClassic for the Xbox Series S. Usually when there's a Quality mode, it mostly ups the resolution. Using the mclassic gives the best of both worlds. I put it on Performance Mode, and then keep the mclassic on upscale mode and I'll have near the same Visual Quality as the resolution mode, with the benefits of performance mode. Highly recommend getting that piece of tech if you have a Switch or Series S, hell even any console at all. Doesn't hurt to make your game look a bit crisper and cleaner in general too
I mean, not to discredit the mClassic, it's really damn good, but... Wouldn't it be better to just go all in and buy a Series X and have native 4K support? I only see investing on an mClassic to be viable if you have mutliple consoles that don't have such a high resolution
@@basurerodej8501 I've already had the mClassic since 2019 back when I had stable work on Campus. The Series S and X came out a few years after I got out of college and had to start really budgeting. Used it for my Switch for a while and my roommates have a shared Series S. been using it for that as well. We have quite a few consoles and some are low resolution and it's helped a lot!
Got mine (used) for around 200e, installed some emulator software, got gamepass, now i have unlimited entertainment for at least next 5 years, possibly considerably longer.
I bought my Series S early on when avialability was next to nothing on the X and PS5. For the price, I can't complain on something that plays MSFS 2020 that smooth to name one as it did when I first got it. Price vs preformance even with 500gb was not to bad. Does it hold the generation back? No the crossgen they refused to leave for 3 years did that. When you spend less, you should expect less. But it's still enough.
I got mine used for 240 and it was a bargain. Plays better than any PC I could afford rn. All I wanna do is play my shootie games, who cares if it doesn't look like a movie
If they would have kept this at $300 I’d say this would be an absolutely killer machine. But with the $50 uptick in price why not spend $400 on a PS5 digital edition that plays games in 4K and a 1tb ssd? The value factor for this console took a hit if you look at price to performance
The best part about the series s is how portable it is cause it’s so small. I’m in the military and I go on constant exercises and being able to take this with me with a few games is amazing. Series x or PS5 is just too much of a hassle. I would have to take a whole other bag for them
I got the white one for $100 looked perfect in condition . I was suspicious about it at first but everything worked fine, I never had an Xbox in the 23 yrs of living and I love it paired with my 4k tv. I’m glad I bought it , PlayStation is ok did what it was supposed to growing up, but I love my series s I travel a lot as well so it being so small is perfectttt😂
I have a mid-range gaming PC. I recently got a series s at a pawn shop for 80 bucks. I swear that's the best 80 bucks I ever spent, haven't touched my PC in weeks. I play Apex, warzone, fight night champion, need for speed etc. Having a blast, and I don't even have to close out the games which is crazy to me for this little console. My PC would freeze before I could pull any of this off lol
I have a PS5 only because I couldn’t get a series x or s on launch. My old Xbox had died last yr and I picked this one up on release. I’m actually enjoying it pretty well. It’s tiny but powerful 😏
I already have the regular series S and I love it. For just a little more storage and a matt black finish is not enough to convince me to make the upgrade. Im just gonna keep my normal series s for a while.
In the UK and was in major retailer here Argos, and actually was going to buy a PS5 however don't know why but I left store with 1TB Carbon Black, got it home and set it up and after signing up for the Ultimate pass I'm stunned, what a stroke of genius coming up with pass, Well Done Microsoft
As an Xbox Series X owner with a 2 TB SSD, I can see why the Series S is a good buy. I wanted a disc drive, and the higher graphics, which is why I went that way. If I was going to get a Series S, getting the 1 TB black version is a better option. Buying an additional 512 GB will run you $80-$90 USD depending on which one you get, making the white one with 1 TB of storage $380-$390 USD. Buying the black version with 1 TB already in it is only $350 USD.
I think the one s is still a great option because you can get it used cheaper and still use game pass and still get cheap physical 360 games and most series s games use the one s version
11:24 it’s not about expecting a lesser experience, it’s the fact that wasn’t promised or said during the presentation of both consoles. It was only supposed to have graphical differences not lack of feature exclusivity from the series x.
In my country the 1TB console was only $50 more... $50 for double the storage is a no brainer. Absolutely love my Series S, I have a mid tier gaming PC but I've been enjoying my Series S so much I haven't played it since. What this console is capable of for the price is incredibly impressive. If you don't care about physical copies of games and 4K, then I highly suggest this console :).
I’m getting a series S in a few months. Been wanting to finally complete my setup as I every new gen console except Xbox. Thanks for making this and easing my mind for dropping so much money on an xbox
3:19 you act like the WD storage and seagate are the same when they aren’t. The WD storage is awful because the reason why it’s cheaper is you don’t get the same fast loading performance that you do with the seagate memory cards.
That's not a Series S issue. Starfield runs poor on Series S, X, and high-end PCs. They capped the frame rate on console at 30 but it still dips below based on area and/or combat. Starfield still needs a lot of work.
The series X is good for game pass. Hell the older consoles are good for game pass. Bit of a stupid statement to make. The series S appeals to those who can't afford an X, don't care for 4k game, has a 120hz plus monitor or because it is tiny, so fits pretty much anywhere and is also easier to take with you on trips. Be surprised how many people still buy disc games that aren't eager/desperate to buy on launch
As someone who’s been on Xbox one this entire time I’ve been streaming starfield on my iPad and Xbox one and I love it so far. I’m getting this new series s this week and can’t imagine it’ll be worse than my current set up
Yeah, there are a lot of great deals out there. My service provider sold me the original ones for 1€ as a contract perk… and funnily they need to wait 4 years for that 1€ on my last "monthly payment".
I haven't had a modern console in a long time, since I sold my Xbox One back in 2017. I'm excited to get back into it with the Series S. I got a bundle of the console with 3 months of gamepass ultimate for 287$CAD on black friday :3
I got S a whike back when the X was is short supply..What I like about the S, other thsn its look and impressive tech for its cost, is it portability - perfect to take with you. Though I have had the X for a while now I was going to get rid of the S but ended up using it as nostalgia, 2D puxel art only gaming system with games like: Metal Slug 1-5, The King of Fighters series, Blazing Star, Final Fantasy 7, Blasphemous, Real Bout Fuy 1-3, Death Gambit Afterlife(the best Castlvania/Metroid like game)..plus mamy other 2D games which I find much more enjoyable then modern gaming in someways. The S for me has become a perfect 90's early 00 gaming machine that puts a smile on my face seeing all my 2D games in one place. The S is like the Snes, Neo Geo, Sega Gensis/Saturn/Dreamcast, Arcade.. all in one place :)...I actually play S more than the X even with Starfield, The Witcher 3, Halo Infinite, Cyberpunk 2077...etc.
As a dad gamer, I bought the original series s for equivalent of 199 usd in a big discount, best deal of my life. As I play only 2-3 games at a time and have an 1440p VRR supporting monitor (fun fact, got it free as a home office support package from my work), I simply can't complain.
As a secondary Game device or even for just some casual games or for the kids is a very nice console. I'm using one for around 2 years now and it works flawless with anything but the most demanding games without any hiccups. The storage is a bummer though
I want to pay it for story mood games like gow and last of us is it good for these kind of games , i may use it for cod 4 , 6 ,8 online i saw that there is active servers Do u thing its good for this use or should i just get the X or ps5
I got target to price match this series s with Amazon for $300 and then used a 10% target circle coupon and my 5% red card discount to get this for around $260. At that price I’m thrilled with it
In my country the difference between the S and the X is much more than 200usd. The S is 400usd and the X is 700usd, both before tax. So the price gap is quite considerable to justify an X as a secondary console. I'm about to get an S to sit alongside my disc ps5.
What would be nice on the next gen is to have a disc drive still and for a better split screen is to have the option to split on one screen or to add another HDMI for another screen so you can have 4 players on one screen to 4 players over two screens or even better 4 players over four screens so your not looking at small area when playing with friends at home or at a gaming centre
Ok, the series S is literally built without a disc drive for a reason I CANT STRESS IT ENOUGH….. There’s The series X with a disc drive for 500$ and you have a series S A DIGITAL SYSTEM for 300$ they did this for a reason. There to not going to make a series s 3 years later amd magically have a disc drive either deal with it or keep complaining it’s stupid asf to put a disc drive in a dirt cheap system. If this series S black had a disc try then wtf is the whole point of the white series S have no disc drive 😭. And if I did have a disc drive it wouldn’t be 300$ it’d be 500+$ tf ?! The same thing with the ps5 digital 400$ edition or what ever , there not going to make a new ps5 digital the same way
@@unknownastroid_2240The white Series S didn't have a disc drive so it could have a very competitive price but the black Series S does not have a very competitive price because it's too close to the digital PS5. This system just doesn't make much sense for most people since the digital PS5 is a much better deal.
@@TruTraedude it's $50 more and that is purely because it's got twice the storage available. You're quite literally splitting hairs at this point. Fundamentally there's nothing wrong with the Series S, it's made to be a cheaper, less powerful but still 60-120fps 1080p-1440p game box with access to gamepass which means free games🎉😂. I've had it for years and I have absolutely no complaints other than I'd have liked it black from the start. If you want more storage for older or non exclusive games, put a USB SSD on it, I have 2 for those older games and they run amazingly despite that.(I had them on my Xbox one too) Stop being nit picky😂
@@slayer8426 You sound like a Microsoft spokesperson lol. The Series S is an impressive but limited piece of hardware. We're seeing more 30fps games, although 60fps is somewhat common, but 120fps is nearly non-existent on the system nowadays. Resolutions on the system are not really around 1440p (or 1080p when talking about native resolutions) these days either but that was acceptable considering the price difference compared to the other digital option. A disc drive would allow Microsoft to cater to more audiences that care about backwards compatibility and game preservation which is something that they did a lot better than Sony.
companies don't like the disk drive since it allows you to have a bigger market. it's that easy. with a disk drive you can buy games on special sales or even used. and their cut is smaller even if you buy it full price retail. also it allows you to enjoy blurays. While microsoft isn't an industry giant in streaming, they have video streaming. and everything you own or borrowed from the local library, is something they don't get a cut from. Don't mistake Xbox pro consumer politics as anything except their current marketing strategy. Once they don't need to fear the competition, prices will rise and the systems will be all digital.
Well first of all, I’m constantly traveling throughout the entire year with my job, and as a person who has a PC at home and started out on the Xbox, this series s I recently bought, has been a live saver when not being home. As it’s my lil companion and will do anything and everything I played on my Xbox back at home, and more simply because I can fit this in my backpack wherever I’m going. Which is why this is the best way to go.
i'm a PS4 Slim user, and been looking forward to PS5 slim version but PS5 slim still look bulky and not looking that sleek...after watching videos of Xbox Series S(1TB version), i really am going to buy it this weekend because i love the form factor of it.
That's because you are just looking at the letters. Instead look at the Series name and the letters of the console. Xbox Series are the current 9th generation consoles . Xbox Series S the high end model that's for 4K resolution. Xbox Series S is the budget end console for 1080p and some 1440p. Xbox Series S currently comes in either White 512KB SSD or Black 1TB SSD variants.
I don’t think starfeild being 30fps was intentional it’s being promoted to be the next generation of game. X/s exclusives should feel exclusive. The series x is 500 and the 4K 60fps monitor is 220. Lots of money for a game that’s gonna feel like something you’ve played before
I have a different take. I think that $300, and $350 is a viable pricepoint for the series S. And it will drop in price during Christmas season. If you are on the market for a new gaming platform in Q3 2023, you can get the Xbox Series S 1tb for $350. I think it's worth that price. The Xbox Series X ($470 right now at amazon or gamestop) is a BETTER value, I think, but If you don't have that money, you don't have it. Simple as that. I do think the PS5 Digital at $400 is a BETTER deal than the $350 Series S. And I think if you have $350 you can probably find $50 more in most cases. If all you're doing on your PC is gaming, it's hard to justify a new PC on a $350, or $500 budget. A Ryzen 7 5700x and a GTX 1660s will build a system largely comparable to an xbox series S in performance, but for just the gpu and cpu you're already over $400. Once you add a 1tb ssd and all of the required hardware you're over $600 for a system roughly as performant as a series S. That gets blown away by the series x and ps5. That's a bad deal. Obviously, the PC brings some nice benefits. Dirt cheap games on multiple storefronts, the ability to do productivity, but the sub $1400 price point gets progressively less and less viable the further down you go.
I think $250 for the white 512GB and $300 for the black 1TB would definitely be a more reasonable consumer-friendly price. (Or if you keep the $350 price point, at least include a game or six months of Game Pass or something so it *feels* like a better value.)
@@jacob_sanchez1 I would say your best value would be an Xbox Series X console and a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The best balance of performance and value 🎮 Unless there is something specific you’re looking for…?
It’s definitely going to be the seller for all the people not jumping into next gen yet just off of storage. Now for just $50 more you won’t have to get a seagate and spend $150 more on a old S in the long run
Thank you so much for the labeled time stamps. I’m at a point if ppl don’t use any time stamps or they use them and label them chapters 1-9.. I don’t even watch them. Love when they label them like you did here much appreciated
Series S is a fantastic emulation machine. I use series X for main gaming and series S for consoles from the 90”s to early 00”s. Not worth the upgrade for me as onboard storage doesn’t make any difference as most people who emulate do it off an SSD or thumb drive.
The series s console is really a great little box if you don’t mind all digital. I started out with a launch white series s 512gb. I ended up getting a used series x for $360. I like it. My honest review. The series s is great. If you are buying games digitally and going to use game pass or you want it as a secondary console, or if you simply can’t afford a Series x or ps5, grab the series s and you’ll be happy. You get 90% off what the series x does for way less. However if you’ve got a newer 4K TV, I think the series x does actually look better graphics wise. However if you are running with an older display or a budget display, the series s looks great for what you pay. The series s might have been more of a hit if it originally released with 1tb of storage. In short, if you are an Xbox fan and have old disc based games, get the series x. If you don’t have as much cash or are just getting into Xbox, get the series s. It’s great for what it is.
hear me out, I’m 16 and game all day every day… and I like the looks of the series x BUT, I love the design of the series s + I save room and money, all I ask is.. does the series s handle long play sessions well??
Thanks for the video. I am considering upgrading to Xbox Series to get Forza 8. Is there really no way to upgrade the internal storage? I have 8TB of SSD storage on my Xbox One, and that would really suck if I can't get big storage on the Series. That has me seriously reconsidering.
One of my main reasons I got rid of my Xbox was because I enjoyed my ps5 more for the exclusive games they had, but another reason was because i just didn’t see any point in having one after realizing PC can own every single Xbox game and more. PC runs better, has better performance, plus mods can make your experience better, for games like Starfield which imo failed to impress me until I added mods. I don’t think the Xbox consoles are a bad purchase if you can’t afford a PC but I definitely think if you can afford one you should switch to that instead. But I know that people won’t be able to play with friends or play some games because there’s no cross play which is completely understandable.
im gonna buy it for sport games becouse even fifa that have cross play works prette bad on pc with no cross market, the series S is deffently a great console for sport games becouse of the price. Then il just play cod on pc becouse its more powerfull.
but does your pc cost 300$? Just say that its not targeted for you and shut up. no point in writing a paragraph about your midwit take. series s has a targeted audience and they like it.
What a load of rubbish. There’s no reason to own a PoS5, all the games are on PC and run significant better, online suck, services suck and 3rd party games run worse on PoS5. Xbox and PC is all you need and you have Gamepass across both, and 1 or 2 $ony games on your PC. Paystation has no games. Starfield is without question game of the generation, $ony has nothing close
The Series S was the first current gen console I picked up being as the PS5 and the Series X were extremely hard to come by during covid. It’s a solid little machine, the fast storage and the snappy interface are awesome and the visuals are a huge improvement from the base Xbone. Coupled with gamepass this is an incredible value.
Exactly how are they a HUGE improvement other than the few games that support ray tracing, and games that barely upscale from resolutions as low as 540p? Minute details, nah. The One X, even with slower load times, has solid framerates at 4k. I'll take that any day over this lil turd. It uses One Code on all of it's BC games!!! What's the point?
I think as games get more advanced and developers start to use the full power of the Series X, the Series S will suffer in performance when playing games locally. But I also think that as games get more demanding, X cloud will get a lot better and will be the Series S’s specialty. For people that have a good internet connection they could save a lot of money streaming the game and will perform the same as playing it locally on a Series X. Keep in mind this will be years down the road but I can see this happening. I mean I can already play Starfeild decently streaming from an OG Xbox One.
Considering that next gen series sales figures are 75% of series S and 25% of series X, developers are not going to forget the biggest Xbox market share which is the S.
I like the 1tb of storage. I love the more smaller, slimmer design. The only thing that’s turning me off about this is the fact that it’s digital only. If they make a Series S that comes with a disc drive, I would buy it. I personally don’t want an all digital console.
i have a series x in my basement alongside my PS5 (and my gaming PC). But i almost as frequently use my series s in my kitchen area. Its a nice device to just pop into a game for some quick play.
Considering Series X are readily available and in stock everywhere now unlike a few years ago I don’t know why anybody would get this new S for 350 when an X is only 500 and often even less when discounted…so it’s only an extra 100-150 bucks more for the X which isn’t that much
I’m into this, the only thing that puts me off here is no disk drive. I’m 32 now & while video games were at one point my whole life, I’ve got kids now & work for a living 😂 Can’t justify nearly £500 on any games console that I don’t have time to play like I used to years ago, but not being able to hold a physical copy is somewhat a dealbreaker for me. Physical copies are good, you can trade them in for different games, sell them on marketplace whatever. It’s the video game equivalent of cash disappearing in favour of bank transfers in my eyes. Good for some things, but not for everything. If Microsoft offered what Sony do, and sell an optional disk drive, this thing would sell like hot cakes to people like me.
I have the series X and the white series s, I am definitely buying the black series s. The one reason I have to choose the series s over the series x and any PS5 is "XScreen." I have a job that thankfully allows me to have downtime and play during that downtime and this thing is going to come in so so so handy. Yeah the XSX may look better but if I'm only home 3 or so hours of the day and I'm only available to play for 1hr compared to playing an average of 6 on the XSS with x screen I will 1000% take the XSS any day of the week over any other console.
The reason why the actual storage space is lower than the capacity of the SSD is because of over provisioning and swapping. The Series S and X will use the SSD as virtual memory which helps boost performance in games. Over provisioning is done to help with longevity of the drive meaning it should last the lifetime of the console.
“When it first launched there were only a handful of storage options and they were really expensive”. Now, there is a little more of a handful and they’re slightly less expensive but still expensive.
I have a Ps5 and bought this thing to play Starfield and Game Pass. I love the portability of this machine. I can throw it in my backpack and play where ever.

The price is silly when you consider that memory prices have plummeted in the last 3 years. It's like the only thing tech related that's actually gotten cheaper. I'd be shocked if the cost to make this is any more than a series s was 3 years ago. Series s white should have dropped to 250 and this slot into 300.
There are discounts everywhere. I bought the original Series S for equivalent of 199 usd about a year ago.

It's sold at a loss, so your unreasonable expectation is for them to never make money on it.
that would drop their profit margins (which are already negative, they lose money selling consoles)
no smart entreprenuer would do that.
My gripe is that people complain about how people want games to be on last gen. why? so it can be a worse game. Come on think you morons!

Same here, it’s an amazing footprint 💪🤓
Mean I have a travel case for my ps5 and have taken it away with me, but the series S in travel bag is much smaller and easier to move about although I chose a small bag for my S, I know there are bigger versions. The series s would be better travel companion if you have a screen attached.
Same situation here. Travel a lot, and this is just amazing to travel with.
Just get a Steam Deck then...its very similar and much smaller...

Smh
If the Series S is holding this generation back, then every single PC that doesn't have at least a 2080TI is also holding this generation back.
I went for a PS5 this generation since I still love watching Blu ray and DVD movies and I already own a PC for Microsoft's exclusive games, the lack of a disc drive is what killed the Series S for me

Game pass is in pc he could of tried it that way
Black Friday had deals as low as $220 for the Series S. What a steal. Not to mention it can play games off the cloud if you hae good internet. The cloud versions are the Series X versions, so you can play the "better" version most of the time if you have the speed.
Lol yeah with blurry graphics
It’s not a better version, I would only recommend it if you have the og Xbox one or extremely good internet. It limits it to 1080p/60fps
This was a phenomenal reply! Thank you for being so thorough and informative

@@frogslayer4849 this ain't about the type of ram, I'm talking about the speed of the ram as that can be the limiting factor
Doesn't hurt to make your game look a bit crisper and cleaner in general too
You have to use a $100 accessory to make your $300 console look almost as decent as the $500 console but it also can’t output at 4k 60
I want to pay it for story mood games like gow and last of us is it good for these kind of games , i may use it for cod 4 , 6 ,8 online i saw that there is active servers
Do u thing its good for this use or should i just get the X or ps5
Just get an external hard drive; i got a terabyte for a good price.
Yall remember when the ps3 had 80gb of storage ?
Yeees, the first phat models got only 20GB in 2006 😂
I got target to price match this series s with Amazon for $300 and then used a 10% target circle coupon and my 5% red card discount to get this for around $260. At that price I’m thrilled with it
Same
Multiple systems per generation and backwards compatibility while nice, both are holding back the industry.
In my country the difference between the S and the X is much more than 200usd. The S is 400usd and the X is 700usd, both before tax.
So the price gap is quite considerable to justify an X as a secondary console. I'm about to get an S to sit alongside my disc ps5.
Dang that sucks man I hate the fact that console makers make consoles more expensive than in the biggest market
If you want more storage for older or non exclusive games, put a USB SSD on it, I have 2 for those older games and they run amazingly despite that.(I had them on my Xbox one too)
Stop being nit picky😂
I got a ps4 still was trying get a ps5 but slick think the xbox s way better for the price how do you like it so far
The day a white series x comes out I’ll buy it
S is the new one right? I still can't ever remember which one is the latest. Problem with having your consoles listed by a letter and not a number.
Xbox series consoles are the same gen as ps5
Xbox series x is the ps5 competitor
Series s is the cut down version of series x.
I don’t think starfeild being 30fps was intentional it’s being promoted to be the next generation of game. X/s exclusives should feel exclusive. The series x is 500 and the 4K 60fps monitor is 220. Lots of money for a game that’s gonna feel like something you’ve played before
You can fill up 3 TB's of storage quickly with games as we did on our Series X and 2TB external SSD so 800 GB isn't a lot these days.
(Or if you keep the $350 price point, at least include a game or six months of Game Pass or something so it *feels* like a better value.)
with a budget of $500-700 what gaming platform should i get?
@@jacob_sanchez1 I would say your best value would be an Xbox Series X console and a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The best balance of performance and value 🎮 Unless there is something specific you’re looking for…?
@@jacob_sanchez1 Xbox series x and a year of gamepass.
You mean is it worth to buy new xbox console with different color?

It’s great for what it is.
hear me out, I’m 16 and game all day every day… and I like the looks of the series x BUT, I love the design of the series s + I save room and money, all I ask is.. does the series s handle long play sessions well??
yes lol@@skitz863
@@skitz863 absolutely.
Thanks for the video. I am considering upgrading to Xbox Series to get Forza 8. Is there really no way to upgrade the internal storage? I have 8TB of SSD storage on my Xbox One, and that would really suck if I can't get big storage on the Series. That has me seriously reconsidering.
the white series s photo at the beginning has a very good controller
Keep the amazing videos up!
Then il just play cod on pc becouse its more powerfull.
they announced couple weeks ago that FF16 will drop to PC lol
but does your pc cost 300$? Just say that its not targeted for you and shut up. no point in writing a paragraph about your midwit take. series s has a targeted audience and they like it.
@@576turky yeah because it’s a timed exclusive
"30fps is pretty standard" well , that's the problem, because it shouldn't be.
I'll say it. Microsoft killed this console by not making it 1 TB from the get go. At $350, I still would've bought this guy
@OFFICIAL_GIVEAWAY970BULLSHIT!
Yes, the answer is yes.
I just love the white design though. So clean looking, and also doesn’t show up dust/fingerprints
I definitely plan on picking up one of these up when the holiday sales hit.
