What *really* needs to be sorted out is the US Small Claims Court System. It's nearly impossible to collect a majority of the time. But if *you* owe any 3 letter gov org's a penny....Absolutely unacceptable.
💯💯💯💯💯
yea I sued someone with no insurance who hit my car for 2000 in small claims court. Ended up paying 400 dollars just to get a court judgment. Now theres no way I am going to get that money cuz the lady never showed up to court and its a waste of my time to try to track her down. Learned my lesson the hard way. the state also ended up getting more money than i did for issuing the ticket.🤦♂
Prob doesn’t go on credit report
@@n3wt Yes, Judgements *are* supposed to show up on credit reports but, at the end of the day, what's a credit rating mean to thieves & poor people anyways?
@BigD. You cannot squeeze blood from a stone, many people take contractors to court, the contractor loses and gets told to pay the person they scammed. But somehow they don't pay or they claim hardship or the file bankruptcy. Its all a big sham. They may win $5k back from the judge, but they still have to pay the attorney which is probably around $1500 to $3500 .... so its a losing proposition. Terrible circumstance to be in !
Funny how they always have family emergencies when Rob comes knocking.

It's so crazy I've been watching these for the last couple hours. The opposite for me, I was a landscaper that got burned by a few customers. I never laid a hand on them but got my money back or got satisfaction other ways. Back in the 80's you could threaten people to their face or by phone and nothing would happen, now people would record you and you would be in jail for it. I was 23 at the time and the first guy that tried to get me was a guy named Rafil Barba. He had me mulch 3 properties that he owned in a community and when I went to get paid he just refused, no dis satisfaction with the job just no. I told him right then that I know these 3 properties and I will fuck up every one of them and gave him a week to ay. I got paid.

All those down payments were WAY too much to get a job started. Theres a guy I know here who paid someone $2500 down to start a small driveway project. Came over with a Bobcat, busted up the old concrete and left it piled up in the yard. That 2500 was supposed to cover the demo AND removal plus laying of new rebar and setting forms. After 2 weeks of crickets chirping, he said his Bobcat got stolen and he was out of business then blocked his number.
I hope your friend hired a lawyer.
@@bamafencer12 Lawyer would have charge at least 1000 as his fee to take the case. He already lost 2500, now another 1000+. He'll no doubt win the case, but if you subtract 1000+ from 2500, he's only getting half of that 2500 back, if the lawyer's fee is cheap.
Your friend needs to file a small claims lawsuit, and report that thief to the authorities.

also been on the other end where I did work and never got paid. Either way people suck and the best way to avoid this is to get referrals from other people who’ve had similar work done from a reputable company. Hope his victims get some compensation and he serves time!
I always start with personal recommendations. I then pass on to others if the company/person is good. Last year had an emergency plumbing issue and got a recommendation from an experienced building person. Called the number to find out that the family business had been sold to a larger company. Since they could come out within 24 hrs. I had them come. I was so impressed with their representative, time spent with me, questions answered and learned about the company. Originally a Peoria IL family hvac/plumbing company, the son began buying other same kind of companies, usually originator or family member owners retiring. I spoke with employees who came to my bldg who had worked for the original family business. I heard nothing but praise. The company was upfront about 3 options I could go with. Since the bldg is over 100 years old I had to bite the bullet. They guaranteed their estimate of 3 dys work (multiple people) with no price change if it took longer. It took 5 days! (I gave tenants 2 hotel nights at the point it impacted them the most.) No extra charge, they even did not charge me extra materials! It was a 3 floor bathroom plumbing stack removal and replaced to code. Not only that, but after a significant deposit, I received a monthly payment plan which charges me no interest if my monthly payment is on time! One year later after I had a small gas leak in 2 18 year old furnaces, I called the same company. This time my payment plan is no payment for 18 mos. Since I am selling within 6 months, the cost will come straight off the price I receive for the bldg. The name of the company? Perfect Home Services! www.perfecthomeservices.com
Hahaha!! That typo Joe made when answering Reggie? “I’m defiantly not avoiding you” instead of “definitely” speaks volumes! 🙄🤔😤😱

Always do a background check on your local "handy man". There is often a good reason they can't work a normal job. Usually anti-social liars that think they are too good to put in a days work. Always have them sign a detailed contract with their name (not the companies) and never pay ahead of the work being done.

Tell me the American "justice system" isn't one big con, and why don't these TV stations work with police and get these criminals in prison?
It’s all “civil” for now unfortunately. It’s crazy. They have to prove that he took the money knowing he had NO intention on ever doing the work. That’s why he starts the jobs and never finishes it.
@@vanessamiller9202 Which is exactly what he did and it's simple enough. Not finishing the job should mean REFUND or be prosecuted for theft. What's the difference between these guys and bank robbers? The system is made for cons, lawyers and the courts which wants these cases to be an ever revolving door to keep their jobs and coffers filled.
@@spaniardsrmoors6817 I’m not defending it at all. I’m just saying that is usually how it works. Yes, a refund should be automatically given and if not, it should be theft but the laws haven’t exactly been updated about that like they should just yet. The difference between bank robbers and these guys is contracts, business and the money is handed over to them willingly in the beginning, not forced to by weapons or threats lol that is the difference. It would be a breach of contract vs criminal. Now once these civil cases keep building and building like they are, yes it becomes criminal and I believe that is starting to happen thankfully. And the system is not made for cons. Cons just evolve all the time on finding loopholes and this I believe is one of them. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ and of course this is all just IMO.
@@vanessamiller9202 I know all that but that's my point and I know you're not defending it.. The legal system had DECADES to fix this problem and they continue to do little to nothing, little enough just for the appearance they're doing something to justify their jobs and salaries. So I go back to my original comment, there is no "legal system" when it comes to white collar crime. Just look at all the cases on YT, and those are just a drop in the bucket. This could easily be cleaned up with immediate action and HARSH penalties. I guarantee these cases would drop by 80-90%. But then what would we need all those city and federal employees in the "justice system" and attorneys for? They would drop by nearly the same amount. Get the picture?
