So many times body shops would try handing my dad 500 bucks in a handshake when he went to see how much damage was done. They hope if there is 9k in work he will write 14k instead. Also body shops will take a car and ram it into a wall just so there is more damage. The car fixing industry is so shady. If you only knew some of the things that go on behind closed doors
I am an adjuster and have worked all over the country, and have done catastrophe work. The body shop industry is a joke and the PDR shops are the worst. My company's SIU department got a few shops in deep trouble for catching them doing what you just described.
As some who has worked in the industry. It’s shocking to read this but also not. 1/5 shops might do this but 3/5 will do everything they can to do a good job. 1 might be In the between. But overall most I know are doing their best and sometimes breaking even or losing on jobs to satisfy their customers. Could be a location thing

@JD she was afraid to loose job. He held job over her head to get what he wanted...Do u honestly think it was any bit her fault? This was all Kevin's fault...she did what she thought was right. He prays on people like that. If you researched this guy , you'd see he does every one like that.
For the people outside of Michigan who can't understand how this guy is not in jail, this is common business practice in the State, not just car repairs, but home repairs as well. The number of convictions means nothing and it's nearly impossible to recover any monies owed to you as you can clearly see. Not having a driver's license is not uncommon in Detroit and not having auto insurance is very common. If you want to open a crooked business, then Michigan is your State.
Most shops are crooks!! I had my bumper cover damaged, passenger fender/quarter panel, headlight assembly damaged he quoted me $2500 😑 I just figured out how to do it myself 🤷🏿♂️

Nicole's car at 1:00 certainly looks more than $2,000 in damage. Just to replace the exploding airbags would cost more than that, and I'm not including the two smashed in passenger side doors , possible frame damage, etc., from being t-boned. More than likely, that car (that looks to be an approximately 2010 Ford Escape) would have been declared a total loss by the insurance company, if she had collision insurance. The guy just took advantage of her. "Give me $2,000 and I'll take of it." Sure.
I'm an appraiser and that is 100% a total loss. No question about it. 90% of cases where the airbags are popped will be totalled, even if the exterior damage doesn't seem too bad.
It’s great to see that people doing good things have so much power against the people that do bad things. Call the AG, lol and file a complaint and then they do nothing and now you pay their salaries and get nothing from it. Go government go.

if only that shop can be exposed & shut down cause they ripped a bunch of people off
The HaAAAaul of shame! Love your videos! One of the only news persons that I watch!
Treating fellow African Americans like brothers and sisters.

This guy is as dirty as they come. These women should get together and come up with some justice of their own since the legal system can't.
This is why you never pay till its done, I never pay my mechanic until I'm sure everything's is ready and well done
exactly
If it's a huge amount of money like $7k, you'd have to at least pay half, then the other half once the car is done.
@@PanameraTurboSEHybrid why would you repair a car for 7k?
@@marttelly6663 I used $7k as an example. If your repair price was $7k you pay half.
@@marttelly6663 bro if my car is worth 60k I'm not totaling it for 7k worth of damage
Well Kevin now you're in THE HAAAAAAALL OF SHAME 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂 love that the reporter kept following his Sorry behind!
My dad worked for body shops for 50 years and also was a insurance apprasier and adjuster.
I'm finding out that housing claims are shady too, especially causing more damage part
@@frankcb11yes reputable and experienced shops in business for years are solid. But when you find some guy off the internet who claims to have a body shop is when you have trouble. Just pay more and go to a legit business with facilities and employees. Not just some guy
And he's able to continue victimizing people year after year. His record is ridiculous! The judgements mean nothing when he doesn't have to pay them. This guy needs to stop hurting people.
One Good Samaritan could make sure he stops hurting people.
After you get a judgement... You can then file Leon's on anything he owns
Unfortunately there is alot of business owners like this.
The way she said ambalance made me so happy 🙃
I used to work there, man is a fraud. He was putting titles in my name of cars I've never seen or driven. They're still there to this day. Had to file a bankruptcy and a repossession for this pos. I still have 2 titles in my name. Also he ran up my credit card by keeping a car rental for 11 days at Enterprise rent a car. Also stiffed me on some of my pay. He needs to be behind bars.
Meaning?
@JD like she had a choice. She was under the assumption that she was helping her and vise versa. And obviously she isn't the first and unfortunately won't be the last. Are you going to say " why u let him do that ' for every person he scammed? I don't think so! Obviously you have never delt with anything like that or you wouldn't say what you said. That guy is a POS and needs to be locked up.
@JD she was afraid to loose job. He held job over her head to get what he wanted...Do u honestly think it was any bit her fault? This was all Kevin's fault...she did what she thought was right. He prays on people like that. If you researched this guy , you'd see he does every one like that.

@@sdoyal1 Close enough to detroit as a western suburb. Don't split hairs. All lower peninsula michigan cities over 60K population are sh*tholes.
Bingo!
@itserich People in Michigan really aren't that bright. Look who they vote for.
Thanks for the heads up, I will stay clear of Michigan.
Jesus. Thanks for the FYI.
Damn that’s crazy , lawless out there
Excellent journalism!
Most shops are crooks!! I had my bumper cover damaged, passenger fender/quarter panel, headlight assembly damaged he quoted me $2500 😑 I just figured out how to do it myself 🤷🏿♂️
I'm amazed he is still alive after all he has done to people
If you look closely @2:57, The left fender is damaged at the headlight and the hood is bowed up at the left fender gap. So the front end was damaged.
Yeah pretty obvious, not sure how they cleared that to air.

“Can I ask you about your bodyshop?”
“Sure.”
“Why d-
“I don’t have a bodyshop.”
Oh he’ll mess with the wrong one someday. Not everyone got time for court judgments and $hit.
especially in detroit lol i'm surprised he isn't missing already
Report him to the Internal Revenue Service for receiving money (as income) that he probably didn't report
Rob Wolchek is one of THE VERY BEST journalists in the country, love how he constantly catches them doing BS like going out for dinner and other shit when they said they were working or whatever excuse they gave.
Long Live Wolchek!
If he keeps it up one of his customers will have their own court session and they'll be the judge and jury.
“Well, you know I’m gonna find him”. Can’t escape the awesome Wolford!

Show him going to jail. Not still ripping people off.
She likely didn't have collision insurance and the guy wasnt going to do the bags.
I was about to say. Her side airbags deployed. That car is history.
Can't tap on his window this time since it's not even his car...
Great reporting. Put these scammers on blast!
It’s great to see that people doing good things have so much power against the people that do bad things. Call the AG, lol and file a complaint and then they do nothing and now you pay their salaries and get nothing from it. Go government go.
Kevin is woke. He's a hero. Monuments to Kevin going up in Detroit soon.
@L XX you mean the fbi and cia orchestrated stunt?
@L XX I don't think the sarcasm traveled well from my fingertips to your noggin. And what does a political event have to do with a low-life named Kevin ripping people off for a living?
Might as well give him a statue. The United states has monuments up of far worse characters than Kevin.

Why are those people giving him money, don't they have insurance?
Apparently they dont lol stupid is as stupid does 🤷♂️🤷♂️
The one man said his insurance paid but his hood is rusting. Everyone in Detroit/metro Detroit is not without insurance. We just have to watch out for SHADY collision/auto body shops. That's why I always went to the suburbs for repairs.
I’m not paying for jack squat up front.
The moral of the story is that NEVER use a business unless they're a member of the BBB in good standing.

These people need to report their vehicles as stolen. He's obviously stripping them for parts.
Then the owner is in trouble for filing a false report because you signed a repair contract.
Worked in a shop like this. Owner would take off OEM light housings, etc that had nothing to do with the repair, order the cheap aftermarket replacements then sell the factory parts online. He finally got caught.
I ONLY get my vehicles serviced at official dealerships. I’d rather pay extra to make sure my vehicle is in good hands. I don’t trust 2nd hand body shops at all, not even for a tire change lol.
