alright dude...i've seen your name a few times but haven't subscribed to your channel...more of a jake the garden snake fan, myself...but anyone who recognizes how cool paul gilbert is deserves my sub.
Paul has always been a down to earth guy. Remember seeing him in Racer X as well in the 80’s. A real musicians musician. No big ego or attitude with this guy.
you'll notice in all these rig run downs and such....Paul always shows off his OWN gear...not all give the time. That's very telling and a reflection of his character!! he's as good a person as he is a guitar player!!
I caught Mr Big back in the day at Gazzarri's in Hollywood. Word got around town that a new Guitar Wonder boy named Paul Gilbert was in town and all the local guitar players swung by to check him out, grab a girl to bang and take off.
I like listening to this guy - I'm actually learning things about setting tones and vibes from him by watching this video! I really appreciate his openness and transparency about what he's doing, how he's doing it and why. For instance, during this video he actually shows you what do each of these different pedals sound like as he's going through them. One of the best guitar rig rundowns I have seen.
I love that he get's his tone from distortion pedals. I've always used them & find you get more control with them & they can sound just as good as tube distortion.
Great guy. Great rig rundown. He could have the most expensive boutique pedals in the world, but it's all bout his talent, and he makes a $40 distortion pedal sound amazing.
You know what's really great about PG, is that he keeps his pedal board nice and simple. He gives himself more time in playing than complicating stuff.
I like how simple his board is. Couple drives, a unit to power his pedals, a delay and reverb, phaser, chorus/vibe, and compressor. Most people would've shoved those pedals as close together as possible because "Hey, I can shove another 3 pedals on my board!"
i was considering buying his airplane flanger thing but if paul gilbert doesn't think the paul gilber flange is worth putting on his board then maybe it's not worth putting on mine.
Ibanez stopped making it, so they probably wanted him to stop using it publicly so they wouldn't feel pressure from people to start making it again. Likely it just didn't sell well enough, so they figured "screw it" - it sounded like a perfectly fine flanger to me, and he did use it for quite a while
Oh man he's great. His pedal choice speaks for him. I think he's a little gear nerd like me but with more money for the gear 😂 however he know's what he want and how all this beautifull gear works together. But Paul, a Marshall is never really clean ^^
From what I saw, PG know what pedal to use. And, I learned something about pedal from this video. I use 6 pedal, and PG use 9 if I didt mistaken. Plus, I used Vox volume pedal.
I love the way he uses the Alter Ego Delay. I use a Reverb pedal the same way. I'm not a huge Reverb guy, but I use just a smidge to "have some clothes" on, and not feel completely naked.
I like how his set up is so simple compared to other players who have a million dollars worth of amps and racks and crap backstage in order to get a sound.
1:30 is that from a song or just an example? it’s beautiful edit - just remembered it sounds like something from Electric Tears by Buckethead, which isn't a surprise since Paul taught Buckethead.
Chris Oliva from Savatage did it, too. He used 2 Boss DS-1 in series in front of a Marshall 1959 (although he had a Laney-endorsement, i know a couple of ppl who saw him playing back then, and he never used a Laney). And not to mention myself, did it for a long time :D :P Works great as long as you have a good amp behind the pedals. It just doesnt work in front of every amp. And, most important: the fingers....
I use 2 drive pedals in front of a Laney AOR Pro Tube 100, a DS-1 and a TS-808, both set as boosters (level only, no distortion). They sound great. The TS adds crispness for rhythms and the DS adds warmth for solos.
@@heavenlyguitar5913 Yeah, the vintage ADA isn't exactly affordable but can be replaced with a lot of other flangers. Now if only money could buy Paul's amazing fingers...
Paul is such an amazing human
alright dude...i've seen your name a few times but haven't subscribed to your channel...more of a jake the garden snake fan, myself...but anyone who recognizes how cool paul gilbert is deserves my sub.
Greatest video displaying how cool, talented, and down right awesome PG is !
One of my few favorite players. Ferocious 6-string Master !!!
Mannn, I respect mr Paul Gilbert. He is such a humble guy, friendly to approach and like to share his knowledge with everyone.
Such a gentleman and legend.
God bless Paul Gilbert... Such a gem of person and an amazing amazing guitarist
Sounds like Paul is enjoying life. He deserves it !!
One of the best ever and a total class act.
Damn Mr Gilbert is so engaging that it took me until the very end to realise the elephants in the background! 😂
Paul is all class..
One of my heroes that's why I have his guitar
1:36 was awesome
I just realized that Paul Gilbert is Richard Feyman of the Guitar World.

Interesting how he gets his dirty from pedals
We are not discussing the elephants in the room then?
Rafael Andrade I didn't notice any elephants? Is that part of their tour this time around or what!
For th absolute win.🏆
Rafael Andrade almost missed it. Good eye.
You mean that yellow with dumb hair?
verbotenco lol
Paul Gilbert is so likeable. :)
Gilbert is one of a small handful of oldschool guitar players who isnt a jerk, kept it together through the 80's & 90's and hasnt lost his mojo.
he never lost his mojo because it's taped strong as fuck to the board
Nice one! haha
Joe satriani?
Greg Howe also.
With the MojoMojo peddle he has increased his mojo! 😂
I could listen to him talk about gear for months.
Paul has always been a down to earth guy. Remember seeing him in Racer X as well in the 80’s. A real musicians musician. No big ego or attitude with this guy.
I saw Mr. Big in 1989 their first album I remember we were all blown away with Paul Gilbert. He can play everything well.
Not everything, just rock.
@@jspartacus Rock, metal, blues, jazz, even classical.... don't underestimate Paul's musical knowledge
@@JT_Grogan He's extremely limited. He couldn't hang with the greats of any of those genres, much less county or classical.
You should book a jam with Paul Gilbert and play every genres with him. I am sure he can play everything he just often play Rock and Blues.
@@JT_Grogan He's a Flamingo player as well.
That's a really simple rig. The magic here is all Gilbert.
Absolutely the cleanest alternate picking in the world. He took what Yngwie did on Rising Force and just kept on going and going.
Paul Gilbert is just the best. So amazing and unpretentious.
2:22 Walking On The Moon by The Police. I love watching any Paul Gilbert interview, he pulls out so many amazing songs he has stored in his memory.
agree, the man is like a human jukebox
yeah the bridge of sighs riff sounded great

This fuckin guy right here... who doesn't love 'em?
Is there anyone cooler and more down to earth than Paul Gilbert... the answer is no
Jim Dewd Guitars petrucci
actually there is another one. his name is kanye west. lol
sujirou Lil Wayne too
ah yes. them self-professed "geniuses".
Ye.... Oh just finished reading your comment. Guess not.
That flanger sounds amazing!
The cleanest guitarist in the world right now!
Him or John Petrucci, both are my faves and both are insanely clean at insane speed too
@@iwatchyouatnight1550 Michael Angelo Batio as well..
*ahem ahem* BUCKETHEAD *ahem*
How are these things measured?
Laughs in Guthrie govan
face melting, precise picking. casually continue talking as if nothing happend. I love PG
cool
I like the way he describe his gear
This is incredible simply stuff for a international famous guitar player!!!
MUITO BOM!!! COOL... ❤🤘🎸
The most truesome guitar player of all time! Paul Gilbert never gets old with those shredy fingers.

that guy holding the microphone has no idea what pauls saying. hilarious.
Love paul gilbert when he is giving his gear explaination.

Simple rig! I always like to watch Paul talking, he likes to keep things simple and that's why he sounds so good. It comes from the fingers (:
That "Anything For You" intro... too beautiful
*that's* how you do a rig walkthrough.
This is the only interview where the interviewer doesnt say a thing lol
🎉🎉🎉🎉 genial 💯💪💪💯💯

What about the Ibanez Fireman with P90 and hammy bar? I need one ☝️with 24 frets and Tree Of Life marks over ebony.

Nice
It’s always a pleasure to hear Mr Gilbert say anything!
loving his tones.
Love to see PG's minimal pedalboard setup with a big sound. ♥️♥️♥️
lol Does Paul have dentures or something?
🦎
I love how old school and minimalist his pedal board is.Old pedals, duct tape, cool.Paul's the man, wish i was @ the Budokan for that show.
Paul Gilbert is amazing guitarist!!!
Humble personality and friendly as my own bestfriend. Kudos to his life and keep rockin

I am SHOCKED that there's no Phase 90 on that board, given how much he loves that pedal.
The guys from Rig Rundown Premier Guitar.. should learn from this guy... let the artists do the talking.
You know the older I get the more i appreciate this generation of guitar players completely miss the point.
A genuinely nice person, no egotistical maniac here considering he is a phenomenal player.
Great guy. No questions needed! :) The "interviewer" is actually a human mikestand with a funny hairdo.
I
Love the way he can go ballistic shred and sweep, then play something soulful. His playing is something else!!
I love the way he uses the Alter Ego Delay. I use a Reverb pedal the same way. I'm not a huge Reverb guy, but I use just a smidge to "have some clothes" on, and not feel completely naked.
That dude don't speak a lick of english
Ever notice Paul sounds almost exactly like David Letterman??? 😃
he went from 35 years old to 70 years old in 3 years just like Mustaine daym
Love Paul Gilbert, his enthusiasm is totally infectious.. Not to mention a great guitarist and all round human!
I’m pretty sure that dude interviewing Paul didn’t understand a word he said🤣👍
HAHA I THINK SO
He's got an ancient A/DA flanger on there, and I though I was the only guy that still had an original.I bought mine in 1981 I believe.
I like how his set up is so simple compared to other players who have a million dollars worth of amps and racks and crap backstage in order to get a sound.

It´s the intro of "Anything for you" by Mr. Big
paul has turned into a a real class act. i though he was a bit arrogant back in the day but all shredders were back then
Paul never drops guitar pics! The three pics are for lucky fans . Love you Paul!
Such a warm guy and he puts clothes on with delay....
Paul Gilbert is the only guitarist I know who uses stacked drive pedals like that and still sounds better than alot of other players tones.
David Enoch ya, I tried my boss super od with a the boss distortion ds1, through a rack eq into a two notes cab sim, didn't sound bad

Through the Marshall 1959s. Clean amp. Stacked drives. Repro 1959s.
You're the best guitarist for me keep on inspiring people to get their guitar and keep on practicing beyond their limits thank you sir
what is the brand of that flanger
Paul is the man.

I have mojo mojo but it sounds so muddy, what i did wrong 😢
😢 Paul is amazing st interviewing himself.
He's scary thin. Even his face looks different.
The interviewer seems to have tons of questions. 😶😂☺️😊
He played electric sea by buckethead at 1:28 😲
Wish I had this amazing gears
Nice thing is that the pedals are affordable. The Marshall stack will cost some money but a Fender Twin can do the same thing.
