I like exploring in the woods at night with UV lights. All sorts of nature glows from Lichen, certain rocks, some mushrooms. I freaked out my friends once by finding dozens of scorpions at our local cat fishing spot.
I was shooting my bow in the backyard earlier this year. I had a miss and lost an arrow. I looked for it for several hours though out the day. That night I thought to try my olight uv light and found it in seconds. The fletchings where glowing bright.
Good catch!
*Years ago when I was a bus driver, a U.V. light was part of my every day carry. I was able to spot fake monthly NJ bus passes with a U.V. light.*
*With The UV light, I can see a hidden logo that the fake monthly bus passes didn't have. I confiscated those fake ones and kept them as a souvenir. I have to make a video about it. I still have my UV light. You're right, they come in very handy.*
I remember you! You took mine!
@@LoinclothRising Awesome!

I use these for automotive maintenance. Easiest way to pinpoint leaks is with one of these lights and some UV dye.
All good uses for sure, but I carry mine to repel vampires! Lol!
Great video. A very important warning: Most of these have UV output stronger than the sun. Do not shine it in your eyes at all, or on your skin for very long. My wife and I both have a UV light, and her’s came with a plastic flower that turns dark on UV exposure. In the sun it takes about 15 minutes for it to full darken. Under her UV flashlight it fully darkens in less than 60 seconds, so they can give you a sunburn in a very short period of time, and can damage your eyes in less time. Mine came with a warning on the light. Ours have 5 LEDs so I would guess a single LED light would take more time to damage skin or eyes. Our daughter borrowed mine one time to find out where her cat was peeing when it stopped using its liter box. Soldiers use them to check for presence of scorpions in the desert, and they are even used to collect scorpions for making anti-venum. Check tonic water! Quinine is very fluorescent.
It sounds like you might have a UV-C light, which are harmful.
@@sluttyfrogmagician No, it is not UV-C. Strong UV-A or UV-B lights can also be very dangerous. I do have a UV-C light and it performs different from my other UV lights on fluorescent minerals which is one way to identify UV-C. All UV light can be dangerous, so unless you know your UV light is weak and can be looked at, never shine it on your skin or eyes for any extended time. Read the instructions, but note my made in china UV-C light had no warnings despite being sold as a surface sterilizer.
Thank you for the warning. I didn't know it could be dangerous
Important to remember reflection is just as bad as staring into it and is much harder to see happening stay safe
This reminded me of the tv show Bones. When using a black light, they would always assume that the stain was blood. And since it was a tv show, it usually was blood.
They can be used to rapidly charge the lume on a watch.
I bought the light to cure resin and i tried to find other uses now im really happy i got it
I use mine when picking crab meat. It helps to ensure there are no left over shells. Makes it super easy to serve perfect lump crab meat.
thats a GREAT usage as well :)
You can also carry one in your purse if you frequent thrift stores, and they can be used to detect depression era uranium glass, which has become collectible!
I just bought an Arkfeld pro and had no idea what I could use this for other than blood trails (hunter) one thing I found interesting was shining on my skin, especially fresh out of the shower. It’s funny to see how much of the towel comes off on you. Cheers
I went to use my UV glue and found the coin cell batteries were dead in the light used to harden the glue. I ordered a single cell UV light that takes a regular AA battery and the whole flashlight was cheaper than the coin cell batteries I needed for the light that came with the glue.
I used the stuff to stick the rear view mirror to my windshield. I get the mirror where I want it and harden the glue from the outside through the glass.
I use mine to charge up the lume on my wrist watches...
Merry Christmas Jeff. Always look forward to your vids!
They can be used to detect repairs in wooden items like guitars.
Oh, that's a good one!
Yes it’s clean, but is it UV light clean ?
My wife was born in November so a Scorpio, I'm going see if she fluoresces in the dark!
Kinda funny but not
That quality of joke is by elementary school kids, not by a married man.
I keep one with my night vision kit. Good video brother 👍
I got myself a tiny UV Nitecore Tube recently and it's really fun. Like you it was more a novelty for me too but I keep finding interesting uses.
You can charge glow in the dark stuff with UV light. Makes them glow way brighter than a normal flashlight.
You can also check if a banana is ripe or might get too ripe. A normal still greenish banana won't reflect any of it, but when it starts to ripen the ends glow bright under UV light.
I found writing on my bedroom wall using my UV light 😱😱
you can sanitize water and remove chlorine additives with one too. better than that crappy lifestraw thing. i use a UV light to degas tapwater before i water my girlfriends expensive plants, but i bet it would work in a shtf scenario. people dont realize that if there is a poweroutage for more than a day, the tap water might still work but usually becomes polluted/not safe to drink. its a lot harder to boil water when the powers off than to expose it to UV light for 20-30 min
Thank you for the information. it is very useful.
US currency- 5s and above, have a counterfeit detection strip embedded in the black ink side that glows when hit by UV light. When it doesn’t show, the bill is either an old one or it’s a fake.
Laundry detergent glows under UV light, when I was a kid my friend had a blacklight and we used to write secret messages on the walls to each other
Like a "shopping" list of 50 cars you need to steal. Lmao (Gone in 60 Seconds)
Blood does not fluoresce by applying UV or visible blue light
Can you see sunscreen products under UV flashlight, like, does it darken under its light or smth like it does for all those uv cameras etc?
A neighbor or mine had a issue with scorpions and guess who has multiple olight uv lights yep this guy lol
What UV range is the LED?
Cool video 👍.
Hi Jeff - will this work with USPS postage stamps to see if they are counterfeit? I heard there are different kinds of UV lights for different things. Thanks.
I recently retired from a state prison system. Security used "invisible" hand stamps for visitors that could only be seen under UV.
Lots of yakin but no demonstrations with currency or anything else, disappointing : (
You should check out those Imalent lights, I have two and they are pretty g’nar
Imalent?
Hey Jeff if olight reaches out to you about their products you should suggest that they upgrade the arcfeld to use a light and a uv light.
And do their keychain ir pros with a laser/light combo. Just a thought
Funny thing there new arkfeld now has uv light
@@skyle4871 I just got mine today.
Help me justify buying an Arkfeld Pro :)
Why does the UV light display bacon grease, urine, blood, etc.?
When UV light bounces off objects that contain special substances called phosphors, interesting things happen. Phosphors are substances that emit visible light in response to radiation. Phosphors hit by UV light become excited and naturally fluoresce, or in other words, glow.
This is cryponite for the ADHD clean people.
I didn't think about all those uses for the UV light, I'm guessing the inspectors for restraints use those when they check out the kitchens to see how nasty they are.
There are some restraints I won't even attempt unless I can see the food being cooked in front of me. Some kitchens in a back room you can't see is a big? Mark. I had food poisoning before and it's no fun. I have to check my food when I eat at any restraint now it's been year's since that happen I'm still liry on what I eat even at home some time's if I feel like meats been in the fridge more than 4 day's it's? Going out in the garbage. I write dates on everything that I put in refrigerator.
Not sure how you can eat in restraints anyway, it's kind of constricting, isn't it?
Did you use 'speech to text' for this comment?
Checking out for bed bugs!
