Thank you… I was about to spend $100 to take my two daughters hunting… based only on explanations. The demo helped a lot and everyone can have their own light for less than the one! Much appreciated
Thank you so much! This was very helpful. As someone who took a "harbor freight" like black light the last time i went. I quickly learned they are not all the same! Headed up there in a few days and i cant wait!
We started finding sodalite in 2005 in the Keweenaw, long before the "fad" started. We would find hundreds of them each night. Of all the different UV lights we used over the years, the S3 Lumenshooters we bought for $30 each are the favorite one to use.
What's up with the "all of these are under 24.99 lbs so I'm comfortable showing you" statement? Genuinely curious if it's something I should know being new to the hobby
I believe this PDF may prove to answer your inquiry. www.michigan.gov/-/media/Project/Websites/dnr/Documents/PRD/Misc/IC3003-1_Park_Rules_Poster.pdf?rev=fb9f0e58fdca49a4b274aaaf43ceb7a4
A good review if you are searching for rocks in your apartment. How do they work in the field? I'm not a supporter of UVBeast but other reviews talk about how much throw it has which can be important if you are out walking in a field or on a beach full of rocks. My understanding is that it can catch colours at a distance to make you pay attention to certain rocks. Or for those who want it for insects (or worse scorpions) then you can see the critters at a further distance.
Thanks for posting your video. I ordered the AloneFire and received it yesterday. A third of the rocks I've collected fluoresce. Your video was very helpful and very well done. Thanks!
i need 3 lights. i'm taking my daughters on a hunt. costa and quality will be a big deal for me, as a single Mom. has anything newer come out you would suggest? i like videos that aren't sponsored because we get honest reviews and they aren't biased to one certain model. thank you for your honest opinion! :) happy hunting.
The biggest problem is that the Alonefire battery only lasts for about 12 minutes with the one battery... The UVBeast lats 36 minutes with the included expansion tube. I don't know about you, but I don't want to have to keep changing batteries while I'm hunting!
You are wrong. I run my lights CONSTANTLY for over 2+ hours without turning them off. What are you talking about only getting 12 minutes??? It sounds like you have a bad battery or faulty light.
I grabbed the Lumenshooter only because it was cheaper than the Alonefire last night. Seem to be essentially the same light. I’d be interested to see if the components were identical. It doesn’t seem to make sense that there are many different factories producing these lights that are all Chinese made.
What a great review!! Can you please give your review on all the Alonefires you bought? I am getting ready to purchase one and need to make sure the other ones you purchased are not any better than the SV18. You can reply with your favorite as well!! Thank you!!!
I’d like some guidance on this as well… temporarily have a uv black light in a bedside table spotlight lamp but it only glows where the light is pointing, it’s not reaching all sides at the same time 😢
Helpful review but I don't know how you can make a judgement against the Convoy C8 if you have no experience with it. I like the Lumenshooter as the beam appread to be of a very good quality. Also, the Alone Fire, has the shortcoming of not being able to keep hunting due to not being able to simply switchout batteries.
I will publish a new video - I bought the C8 and also a handful of other lights in the past 6 months to demo and review - I stand by my original review of the Alonefire light - it's the best bang for the buck.
Excellent video. You have me sold on the alonefire. Have you done any comparison of the different Alonefire light models? They have so many different sizes and wattage.
@@TheNawrockSTAR Definitely want to check it out... looking to buy something this week as I just bought a fluorite! It's very confusing with all of these one led or three LED models. Would you say the main difference is the width of beam versus throw distance? All of the vendor videos seem about the same brightness. Some reviews on the three LED ones claim overheating or dimming along with people saying the wattage claims are not realistic. That would lead me to a one led model. Also just found that newer ones are on aliexpress that haven't hit amazon yet SV83 (triple), SV72 (dual white uv), SV61 (single).
@NawrockSTAR Do you still have the video compairing the alone fire lights? Seriously enjoyed this video while i'm trying to find my first uv flashlight.
Here's the thing with the Harbor Freight one it's geared towards leak finding and refrigeration systems so that UV dye is the color of yellow highlighter you do not need to use a UV flashlight to find it either you can use a blue LED and the dials full glow I own a true UV flashlight it also works for finding leaks in the refrigeration systems
Thank you for this! Heading up to the U.P. in about a month, and wanted to replace my old uv flashlights with something better. I almost pulled the trigger on a C8 convoy, but I will be giving the alonefire a go.
In the video you say that you never "have" to take the battery out of the Alone Fire to charge it. But CAN you take it out? When the batteries get low I want to be able to instantly switch them out with fully charged backup batteries, not stop and wait hours for built in batteries to recharge. So again I ask, is the battery in the Alone Fire removable or is it built in? What's the situation with the batteries and recharging with the other lights that you demo? Thank you so much. AWESOME VIDEO!
I will be returning the firebright flashlight because it makes other rocks fluoresce besides the yooperlight. So when I look down all the rocks are orange containing iron.
It just depends on the composition of the rocks where you are. I dont notice Iron fluorescing - I do notice some quartz, limestone and fossils do it though.
Great video. I plan to purchase the alonefire flashlights you talked about for myself but I was wondering if you have any advice for trying the alonefire mini for a couple of kiddos? It is the sv62 model. I don't mind if it's not the best but I'd like them to be able to find one if they did put in the effort. Thanks for any advice!
I never tried that one - but the company makes good lights that I am overall pleased with - I dont think you can go wrong for the price point of some of these.
Thanks for an excellent video! I'm thinking about checking out several Lake Superior beaches for rocks next summer. I'll be in Minnesota and so was going to look there. I've seen several people suggest Grand Marias and recently figured out that there are places on the lake called Grand Marias in both Minnesota and Michigan. Which one are you recommending?
Thank you very much! Two questions. First why under 25 pounds? Is there a regulation i don't know about? Second: what lights do you use to display the fluorescence at home?
How long does each work? If the more expensive lasts for 4 hours and it comes with two batteries, that is pretty good. If the less expensive only last for say two hours and you cannot change the battery, that is not so good. Most people I talk to say you want to be able to search for about 4 hours. GOT TO HAVE A BATTERY THAT HOLD THE STRENGTH OF THE LIGHT LONGER THAN 20 MINUTES OR HALF HOUR!!! IT TAKES ALOT OF TIME FINDING THESE ROCKS!!! UNLESS YOU WANNA CARRY AROUND A BAG OF FLASH LIGHTS OR BATTERYS YOU NEED AN ALL AROUND QUALITY LIGHT!!! ANYONE WHO ACTUALLY goes to Lake Superior knows this!!!
Cheep lights are NOT quality lights!!!! None that i have found, and i spend alot of time on Superior!!!!
4 feet away for lights and rocks just doesn't work!!!!
Ya gotta know where to go to find one!!! And you are going to trip on every rock and stick or log you are constantly going to trip on. Need white light and good brite 365nm UV light.
CA convoy and beast are truely very good lights. Convoy better, thats why its hard to find on amazon... everyone buys them!!!!
I've found monsters out there with these things. I also bought the Convoy C8, UV Beast and 3 new ones from Alonefire.... I am very well versed in appropriate UV lights.... I stand by my review.
