Ominous is a good word to describe Sabbath's music, but not their message. Their songs and the band's name have been misinterpreted by many people, but their real message is one of trying to lift people up and to get away from negative influences. Saw them back in 1999 and I was really impressed with their whole presence and attitude towards everybody. Very positive. But the heaviest sound you've ever heard. Drummer Bill Ward is a BEAST on his kit, should be charged with assault after every show. Tony, Ozzy and Geezer are all pros.
"The WIZARD" Misty morning, clouds in the sky Without warning, the wizard walks by Casting his shadow, weaving his spell Long grey cloak, tinkling bell Never talking Just keeps walking Cursing his magic Evil power disappears Demons worry when the wizard is near He turns tears into joy Everyone's happy when the wizard walks by Never talking Just keeps walking Spreading his magic Sun is shining, clouds have gone by All the people give a happy sigh He has passed by, giving his sign Left all the people feeling so fine Never talking Just keeps walking Spreading his magic
The interesting thing here is how naturally you’re able to “correct” the beat of a song you haven’t heard. It really shows how talented bill ward is as a drummer. He’s taking you on this insane, asymmetrical jazz drumming master class through this whole song, but he’s able to maintain the backbeat the whole time. That’s Polyrhythms to a different degree. Even through the insane transitions and subdivision work he’s doing, he makes it so easy to follow where the beat is. Dudes one of my biggest inspirations as a drummer.
My first was Rush in 1981. I was 13 and I was quite excited to see little white things being passed around from all directions. You couldn't even pass them fast enough there was so many coming from all directions. I don't think me and my buddy even had to take ours out. I just wish I could remember more of the show but I can say that's the best party I've ever been to. Everyone was friendly, chill and age didn't really matter back then because we were definitely the youngest around us. Great times for sure.
I’m a huge fan of Black Sabbath and have seen them several times in concert. I highly recommend the classics like “Fairies Wear Boots” and “Paranoid” and especially my personal favorite “Supernaut.”
This is from thier debut the one that scared everyone in 1970 and is more contributed to creating the genre we know as heavy metal. Trust me bro their albums r like seasons of a show with episodes that just get better and better with bits and surprises in it that im sad more musicians don’t realize (Debut to 6th album) is the top tier sabbath and is best listened to in order imo
No, "Everyone's happy when the wizard walks by"."Evil power disappears", Its a good wizard. Whatever that is. But they didn't really make it easy to catch a positive vibe. War Pigs. One of the best anti-war songs. First time I heard it, all I got was-- witches, black masses, Satan spreads his wings.
This song was my first exposure to Black Sabbath... At 60 , I'm still listening The song is actually not evil and demonic like most think.. listen CLOSE to the lyrics
Personally I think the Title track "Black Sabbath" or "N.I.B." are far better than this song off this album. I would definitely suggest "Killing Yourself to Live" from the album Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and "Dirty Women" from Technical Ecstacy album one other would be "Hole in the Sky" from Sabotage album.✌👍🎼🎸

We Sold Our Soul for Rock 'N' Roll is a compilation album, The Wizard is originally from the bands self-titled debut...
"The WIZARD"
Misty morning, clouds in the sky
Without warning, the wizard walks by
Casting his shadow, weaving his spell
Long grey cloak, tinkling bell
Never talking
Just keeps walking
Cursing his magic
Evil power disappears
Demons worry when the wizard is near
He turns tears into joy
Everyone's happy when the wizard walks by
Never talking
Just keeps walking
Spreading his magic
Sun is shining, clouds have gone by
All the people give a happy sigh
He has passed by, giving his sign
Left all the people feeling so fine
Never talking
Just keeps walking
Spreading his magic
"More Cowbell..!"🐮🔔🎶😎❤🤙🧙♂️

Black Sabbath was one of the very first concerts I went to in 1972. "What's that funny smell everywhere?" This was long before Ozzie got famous.

1970 for me... 16 years old and stoned, what a great time we had.
@@AliasMark69 yeah, I was only 14 yr old in '72, I probably first toked the following year when I went to high school.

"Ozzy" on the most Evil-Sinister-Menacing-"OMINUS"- Bad Ass Cool Harmonica Ever.
Brilliant. Way ahead of its time.
Great reaction and commentary. Black Sabbath has a huge catalog of music to check out....jump on in! 😁
I live in the country, my friends say I'm a Wizard with a Green Thumb.... Everybody leaves my place happy.
Love the good work and effort. LOVE this band too. This song is one of my favorites.
CRANK IT UP!!..... I live in the country.... 15" JBL Speakers outside. This song at 3AM sounds AWESOME echoing through the valley in the darkness.
Try "Fairies Wear Boots" or "Children of the Grave". Really groovy, man.
Depending on when Geezer was asked, the wizard was Gandalf or their drug dealer 😅
😂😂😂😂

It's kind of like saying I prefer beethoven's 5th symphony to his ninth symphony.
