    I come from an Italian family and when I was a child my Aunt Lucy would make us a special treat of pitted dates stuffed with peanut butter then rolled in sugar. She would arrange them in a round tin and they looked so elegant!! I eat a couple of plain dates nearly every day!!

    Thank you for indicating that the dates should be placed in hot water for 5 minutes, so that the skins are removed. I have only begun including two per day, a few days ago, and another UA-cam video sang the benefits of this fruit, neglecting to say how concerns should address the skins, due to handling. This is, of course, different from the North American habit of simply washing off apples, for example, and eating them. Great video. Many, many thanks and best wishes! Cheers! :)

    I used to eat dates as a child; my mother was always making "date squares" for parties or holidays. I will buy some on my next marketing date and soak as you've shown. I think I can afford to have 3 dates per day ... I 'd much rather have a few dates than a banana ! Thank you !

    in Palm Springs CA area they make banana date shakes with milk and/or vanilla ice cream with a sprinkle of nutmeg.

    Thank you for this video, it was very useful for me. I eat dates everyday, They are very caloric that is why I consume them only in the morning. The dates have also unseen benefits on the body, like boosting the level of happiness (and evil eye protection (religious statements)).

      Carla, thanks for watching! I am happy that you appreciated. Growing up in the Country with all open markets, I sew many dried fruits and vegetables in their original, canvas bags. And so many people were able to touch them with dirty hands. Then my mom came to conclusion that she will wash them too:):):) And it really works. They don't get spoiled for a very long time. without refrigeration.

      @tatyanagalaxyphd21  6 років тому

      No. Dates are not bad from the stores:) I love Harris Teeter myself!!! But this process I recommend to everyone who wants to consume more cleaner product. If we wash apples before eating? Because they not clean and you have no idea who touched them before you, right? The same thing with dates. They are even more dirtier, because of the sticky surface. Imagine how much dust we can't blow off the surface?

    you need to remove the skin IF the dates are old and have been stored for n many years. That is when it looses its bond with the fruit. otherwise, most dates have skin that is strongly adhered to the fruit n does not peel. It then becomes very easy to wash them as you consume them.

    thanks for the beneficial info on dates but when you said that their skin could be contaminated by bacterias or viruses, I believe washing them would clean them, plus the way you are cleaning them would not be the proper way because you touch the skin and then the peeled dates and then the dirty water that you used to clean them in.

    • @tatyanagalaxyphd21
      @tatyanagalaxyphd21  7 років тому +1

      You can put the clean once in the dish and rinse them again with the hot boiled water before consuming. I just gave you an idea that this way is much cleaner, instead of wash one by one in all wrinkly area - much easier and safer to remove the skin completely away. Cause I see all that old skin while do Colon Hydrotherapy - and it's a nightmare picture:) But thanks for the comment:)

    Surely the skin is insoluble fibre and thus good for roughage. Are dates sticky when picked. I thought they would be picked when ripe then dried in the sun when they become wrinkled. Thus not much handling. Maybe a rinse in hot water to removed dust and maybe pesticides. I’ve found a shop that sells the really big and juicy ones and l have about two each day. A much healthier snack than say health bars.

Do not forget that they are very high in Sugar and I would not eat more then 10 a day/ Also If people try to lose weight and excersizing on the daily basis they better to consume them before gym and no more then 5. This amount have enough Nutrients for stamina and health.

      It's all depends on how much you eat them. If you eat a few a day and do not have any health related issues it shouldn't. But if you eat a lot and let's say have a diabetes of coarse I would keep the consumption under control. Everything in moderation. But the fiber from dates are very good for us!;) thanks for the question.

      Honestly, I do not think that this is very good idea to gain weight by eating dates. Do not forget that they are very sweet. Ir might elevate your fasting glucose level and cause a Sindrome X ( Metabolic disorder, prediabetic condition). The best idea to gain wait -is to gain more muscles by doing sertaiin exercises. Maybe trainer can help with it.

    I left refined sugars food & beverages and eat dates with cheese when i'm craving for sweets. I eat 30 dates/day. I feel my memory sharper and yes my vision is improved during the night.

      Muhammad Rizqi I would leave the cheese out though, that's just pure fat from the cow milk, not healthy at all

      Just eat for your satisfaction. As you know, dates are considered to be a dried fruits. One day you have appetite for more than the other one. As long as you do not have diabetes or insulin resistance you can eat them as much as I would say about 7 to 10 dates a day. Also remember that they have a lot's of calories and natural sugar!
