    Great episode!!
Autoimmune diseases typically stem from a gut problem that leads to your immune system attacking itself.
Arthritis is an autoimmune disease, so anything you can do to help heal your gut may be good for arthritis.
Bone broth is typically made from:
    • Bone
    • Joints
    • Connective tissue
    • Marrow
    • Ligaments
    • Tendons
What to try for gut issues:
    • Consume fermented foods or take probiotics
    • Consume a diet higher in animal fat and animal protein
    • Cook or steam your vegetables
    • Avoid grains or grain oils
    • Avoid dairy
    • Consume eggs, organ meats, and bone marrow
    Thank you Dr Berg! 🐱👍🏿

I had the most miserable IBS with severe diarrhea. I didn’t believe the hype about bone broth but by the time I tried it I had nothing else to loose. I tried some from the market ( mostly disgusting) then started making my own with organic bones. It took two weeks to feel better but I kept going for about six months drinking a cup first thing every morning. I’ve been mostly symptom free now for over two years. Also used intermittent fasting, went totally organic, pasture raised pasture finished.

Bone broth has SAVED my 12 year old cat who was suffering with severe IBD. I wish more doctors would talk about this. She was throwing up 4-5 times daily or every other day and having loose stool. Last Fall I began to mix bone broth in with 2T wet food daily. She is no longer throwing up and has normal bathroom habits now. Her coat is softer and shinier and she is happy (no more hiding because she feels yucky). This simple product has helped us so much!

I have had specialists verbally abuse me, and insist I shut up and accept my doom. I have refused. Bone broth was produced in Paris in the 19th century and sold cheaply to the poor from kiosks. It was called a restorative (English spelling) and helped those at the poorest end of society combat numerous ailments. This became so popular that rooms were provided with tables and chairs, so the customers could keep warm and dry while consuming the broth. These establishments became restaurants. Does bone broth work? Tens of thousands of French people cannot be wrong.

Bone broth as USA calls it was used by the asians, ME and Soviet countries for centuries before the west deigned to try and then again tries to take credit.
I remember Arriving in the west and we grew and ate everything, One day in primary school it was my turn to share our dinner meal, with had meat, various veg, but the best part was cabbage steamed with bacon. THE REACTON OF THE WEST was horrified [ this is back in 1955] we were eating PIG FOOD. The west grew cabbages as well as raddishs, turnips for PIGS this was NOT for Human consumption.

It does work!!! I am treating cancer on my guts. Two major side effects of my therapy - diarrhoea and developing arthritis. I started cooking soups with gelatinous home made bone broths just 4 times a week. And it took me just 3 months to take my arthritis under control and gain a few kilos of weight due taking control of diarrhoea. Just an example to understand what I am talking about: I was waking up in the middle of night from soreness of my hands and 1 hr after waking up in the morning I was not able to move my hands- make my bed, change clothes or make my coffee. My husband was doing all these tasks for me. After 3 months of broth therapy I treated my husband back with fresh cup of coffee prepared on my own!!!! Now I do not have to add one extra time wasting hour to my morning routine just to wait till major morning pain is gone, I can start all my favourite morning tasks right away!

My wife and I were curious about the Golden Elixir bone broth and we made Ox Tail soup but with extra beef marrow bones.
When we enjoyed the soup I experienced a unique sensation.
    My legs began to relax.
From the top down I felt them let go.
I was unaware that they were tense until they had relaxed.
Additionally, I had an overall feeling of wellbeing that lasted through lunch the next day.
A church member had been suffering from complications of radiation treatment and couldn’t eat.
She had a similar experience after enjoying the soup and said that it saved her life since she was starving.
We are strong proponents of bone broth and the good it does!

Always save chicken bones after cooking. I keep a Ziploc baggy in my freezer with cooked bones, next to all the vegetable cuttings and scraps (which I save to make soups and stocks). When you have enough, or once a month, drop them into an instant pot, cover with water, add a little apple cider vinegar, maybe some aromatics like celery, carrots, rosemary, thyme, etc, and then pressure cook for about 80 minutes. Or simmer on the stovetop overnight.

I look like I’ve had a facelift because my eyebrows moved back to the proper place on my forehead. I had right knee pain, pain in the right ankle & pain under my left foot. After about 2 weeks of taking collagen (maybe even a little less because I was only taking for the beauty benefits initially), all of my pains were gone. I will never not take it. I buy it in bulk. Taking bone broth & collagen kicked off the change to keto. Removing all the junk & poison from my diet I’ve lost about 50 lbs so far. I would love to try chicken bone broth but I’m rightly concerned about things such as:
    1. do they cook the chickens in aluminium foil?
    2. do they pour the liquid broth into the plastic pouches or cartons while still hot/warm? 3. do they source chickens that have been pasture-raised and organic and not from overseas?
The third one is easily possible to find out and make sure of as there are a lot of brands which are organic and grass fed etc, but the first two isn’t so. It’s very unlikely that they do things differently here. I even contacted an organic brand and they told me that they pour into plastic pouches while still hot which is stupid as far as I’m concerned since it’s no longer organic when the plastic leaches into it. I also asked about the foil but don’t recall getting a response. I also wouldn’t want to make bone broth myself as it’s too much faffing about and I don’t have the time or the kitchen space for doing any of that.

I just wanted to thank you Dr. Berg.
I've been on keto for almost two months now. I almost gave up the first week. I had zero energy and I even lost my voice. My kidneys hurt very much the first two weeks, especially at night. I couldn't sleep and I almost gave up. I kept drinking apple cider vinegar and lemon water. Now I have no more pain. My stool was also light gray and very hard. I thought the diet was not working for me. After two weeks the color was getting better, after another week it wasn't hard anymore. The next problem was that my stool was floating, but thanks to you I bought an digestive enzyme supplement, now I have no more floating stool. I still have very weak legs, but I will keep going on keto. Keto also cured my migraines and sinusitis which I did not expect.
I have a question: Does it matter if I take creatine and vitamin/mineral supplements with apple cider vinegar and lemon water?
    Thank you for everything.

For anyone whom has osteoarthritis, I would not recommend Keto 😔...I did it for two years and should have given up after two months but I needed to loose weight. Consequently I have since been on a eating plan that is better suited to me and have lost over 9 stone on a balanced diet and supplementation of good probiotics and other supplements, plus organic fruit and veg, free range boiled eggs for breakfast everyday. I never felt right on no carb or very little. I had to take things to help me go to the bathroom and for feeling lethargic and low energy. Getting headaches and stomach cramps.
Thankfully I did a great deal of research and now am so much the better. I am hoping to avoid both hips and knees having to be replaced. My mobility has improved from hardly being able to move (in an enormous amount of pain) to now being able to walk with one crutch and on good days without 🙏🏼

The best way to learn about digestion, for me, was maintaining a worm composting bin.
You really get to see how various foods react with the living microbiotic rich worm castings and how they process different things.
Throw too much white bread or other refined grains into the bin all at once and you'll have a fungal bloom. Wet coffee grounds will tend to grow thick grey fungus hairs unless you really mix it in with everything else. Grass clippings and other fiber type plant matter can speed up the heat decomposition process. And somehow magically all that life in the bin manages to keep the soil at a relatively stable temperature even through most of the winter. If you feed it the right foods and plant material in the right quantities it flourishes, give it too much of anything and things can go wildly out of balance until it sorts itself out again.
Our stomach and intestines are basically doing the same things as a composter.

My hands got so painful I couldn't properly use a knife and fork. I could barely do up a seatbelt. After tests, my doctor told me I had arthritis, and, bless his soul to purgatory, told me to take Advil for the pain. I looked it up. Advil will destroy cartilage between joints. I did my own research and started making (a lot) of bone broth, and cut out sugar, white flour, anything white actually. Over 10 years now, and I still rely on bone broth.
