    The Monkees ... a made for TV band who actually became a band. These songs remind some people of their youth and therein lies the joy. These four guys were extremely fortunate to be chosen for their roles and had no idea how much impact they would have on the music world. However, they are now immortalized in music and film. Long live the Monkees.

    I was blessed to meet Davy in Walmart before going to The Monkees concert that evening. He's wonderful. Davy gave my spouse and I tickets for seats on the eighth row from the stage and backstage passes. Peter, Mickey and Davy are truly special performers who love their fans. Watching them do this proves something pretty profound in me. What really matters in life is the way we touch people on a personal level. Even though they are old and tired here, they still have enough pep to deliver and tear up at this song. They understand what an impact it had on the fans. They also are able to joke and clown a bit which shows they shared a mutual bond. It's the memories they shared with us and among themselves that touches them too.

  • @MegaCaptain54
    @MegaCaptain54 10 років тому +16

    they took a lot of heat because nobody at the time thought they played their own instruments. what the public did not understand at the time was that all those songs were pre-recorded for tv. when the monkees performed live you could tell they were playing all their own instruments. they had some accompaniment from supporting musicians but the sound was all theirs.
    they were the epidomy of what a 60's rock band was all about. they had a sound all their own led by davy jones. in my eyes a pop/rock icon of his generation. it saddens me that davy died way too soon. although the monkees have long since been out of the public eye, musical legends like this never seem to truly die.
    thanks for all of it guys and rest well davy, you earned it. in closing davy, til we meet again, thank you, farewell & god bless. we'll miss you.

    Back in 1989 me and my friend Adrian used to drive around all night listening to this in my car,funny how a song takes you back to a time and place.
    Sadly he was killed riding his little moped,I'll never forget the look on his dads face when I knocked on the door for us to go out,was only a few mins after the police had told them.
    He loved this song,

      Davy is a one of kind man. I mean "kind" in all senses of the word. My husband and I met Davy in a Walmart when he was looking for his daughter the "pads" when the "little girl cycle" inconveniently hit. Another woman helped him after she introduced him to her children. When I saw him, I cried but was shy. My spouse tracked him to the checkout and told him I was one of the biggest MONKEE fans alive. Davy came back with him and upgraded our lawn chair, the least expensive that we could afford to eighth row centre from the stage. He also gave us backstage passes. Out of the three, Mickey, Peter and Davy, Davy was the gentlemen. The other two were nice but "put up" with their fans. I know they were tired but Davy. He stayed until everyone had their photo with him. I've asked him upstairs to work out my two horses in Heaven. I know they're in good hands! ¬ Janet

    Of course this was his song...... I got to see him in concert finally in 2010 in Deadwood, SD. I said to my husband there is my first crush I ever had.... and he was tireless on stage..... Now I have lost my husband to a massive heart attack with no warning on January 6, 2011 the vein on the outside of the heart clogged and killed him. And now precious Davy. When are they going to make checking those veins priority on a senior physical????? I am so sad... Bless you Heart Davy, I loved you!

    this is just a great version; they all look super handsome; yes, even Peter Tork who looks a little like a spiffier Ray Walston here; what spunk at their age; what a pleasure to see

    I'm so glad that Davy never went the plastic surgery route. He was authentic and wanted to stay that way. Loved him even more as he got older. I miss him so much.

    As a performer...what do you think it meant to him after all these years the crowd sang the song back to him word for word and that was his last performance. Those fans showed the appreciation we feel for one of the most wonderful voices singing one of the most wonderful songs ever to be recorded.

    I am a long time fan of The Monkees when I was a teenager and now...... loved Davy....they were wonderful and a valid musical group!! They weren't The Beatles or The Rollingstones...but they filled a part of our heart with their beautiful songs and antic on their show!! RIP Davy.....So sad....like when the first Beatle...John died (I know ...John's an icon) but still!! Davy deserves respect!!! We will miss you!!

    Los Monkees son parte importante de nuestros bellos recuerdos, Daydream es un himno a nuestra juventud, dudo mucho que sean un fraude.

    I had the chance to meet Davy while waiting for valet to get our cars last year. He was the nicest man, so excited about visiting his daughter in Santa Barbara and his grand kids. What an honor to meet a childhood crush!
