Thanks for sharing this. I was very fortunate to have met him twice. The last was at a Hollywood Show in February 2012. I had the chance to hug him, talk to him, get an autograph and my picture taken with him. A very nice and multi talented man. I had no idea that in just three short weeks after that, he would be gone. I will always be grateful I was able to be there that day to see him.

Davy and I kept in touch through the years and I spoke with him on the phone just a week before his death. Another of the boy pickpockets in the Broadway "Oliver!" was Alan Paul who went on to be one of the jazz vocal group The Manhattan Transfer

A close friend whom I graduated high school with was road manager for the Monkees. They did a concert in our city and, because the hotel they were staying in was besieged by fans, David called me and asked if they could come out and spend some time with my family. I said yes, of course. I went down to the hotel and met them in the back of the hotel and we drove out to my parents home where my mother cooked them supper. It was a fun several hours. Believe-it-or-not, we watched an episode of "Twilight Zone" and "Gunsmoke." They had a relaxing night and put on a great show the next night.
The nightly news was on TV. I was on my computer in another room when I heard the news that Davy had died. I ran to the living room and sat there in disbelief. Then I cried. How could this beautiful human be dead!? I was only 11 years younger than Davy. I've now become older than he was. How could this gentle soul be gone?

I remember when Davy died I cried myself to sleep the first week. I even cried while watching him on The Brady Bunch. It was then that I realized what a beautiful voice he had! RIP Davy!

His song & dance routine in Head shows how talented he really is! He sings Daddy's Song written by Harry Nilsson. The dance routine switches back and forth from white to black. You just have to see it. He and Mickey Dolenz were child actors. They all complemented each other.

"Beatlemania" began the night the Beatles played the Royal Variety Show on Nov 4, 1963 - Not the 2-9-64 when they played their first Ed Sullivan. I met Davy 2 weeks before he died and he was everything I'd hoped he would be. I adored him from the first time I saw him on The Monkees.
Beatlemania in the US did begin around the time of the Sullivan Show. There was no internet or cable television back down so Americans could not see what was happening on British TV

I met him as well. In Georgia. He was at the wizard of Oz. Had dinner at Veni Vidi Vici afterwards. He came in and had a party down stairs... and and I closed the place. Had a fun night of sitting at the back table facing everyone and people watching. Met the chef, smoked cigars with the owner and chef and head maître d’. And Davy came up and thanked everyone. I had met him at the show. He laughed and said. Wow. I ran into again! He had a party of yes people with him. 😆 if you know the types. He sat down and talked for 15 minutes and bid us a good morning. It was 330 am. Had a blast! He was charming! And I had the biggest crush on him when I was young. I said fancy meeting you here. 2 times! He said no no. 3rd. I saw you first. Haha. Oh. I blushed so hard. The whole table laughed at me. Oh. What a fun exciting experience that was. Just a trip to get away work a little relax see a show... turned into, a wicked memorable trip. When I flew home. I had a lighter from a club... I worked at. X-rayed it looked mighty suspicious. Whole bunch of officers surrounded me made me pull it out... had their hands on their hips. It’s a naughty lighter. I must confess. Lady on her knees. Fella behind her, push his legs and he you know... and a flame come out the front. Hahahahahaha. I made officers blush. All of them!! Hahaha! I said Oh. My. Am I in trouble? All’s I have a lighter. I knew they thought it was a “piece”... Mama’ we need to see this, has anyone touched your bags. I’m like nope. It’s just a lighter... Hahahahaha their faces when I lit 🔥 it... 😯☺️ We laughed for a few minutes. And I thought. This trip will go do in my history... What fun! Lots of connections and lots of laughs. Very fun indeed!

And the girl from Chelsea were my favorite songs he did before monkeemania I always admired him as a human being not a rockstar or teen idol And I never really recovered from his death it still saddens me to this very day I just remember me and my grandmother getting the DVDs of the monkees just 3 months before he passed away and I was just in shock for quite a while after it happened then losing my grandmother several years later really saddened me more but hopefully she and Davy are in a much better place and finally got to meet each other. I had 2 chances to meet him but for personal family reasons I wasn't alow to go so I missed a major opportunity there so I really kicked myself very hard after his passing.

In Coronation Street the name of his grandmother was ee na not aina. Plus the name of the police program is Zed cars not Zee cars
I thought that too. They were pronounced wrong. I had the same surname as Ena Sharples and got a lot of stick at school.
UK Z is pronounced Zed, US it’s pronounced Zee.
