Wow, all those baby boomers who first adored him in their much younger days! Like my 2 older sisters in the Philippines who were crushing on him when they were barely teenagers in the 60s as we watched their show every Sunday afternoon. It was something that we all looked forward to and wished there was more. Then, they had the chance to watch the Monkees in concert when we were living in Japan in the early 80s. They were ecstatic! Rest in Peace, Mr. Jones!
This song always moves me to shed tears. It also reminds me of the days when I was a child, walking alone along the neighborhood street against the sun setting. It is one of the greatest songs than had produced in the history of making. It is no exaggeration to say that it universally touches our heart. Thank you very much for the Monkees and Davy Jones. I greatly miss you.
I was in my early twenties when The Monkees were at their height. A few years back I was on a company trip to Barcelona visiting Estrella Damm and our sales team from England was made up of varying ages but mostly very much younger than myself. We went to a restaurant in the city famous for the staff singing light opera whilst people dined. They invited anyone in the room to sing and suddenly the whole of our team just burst into song singing ‘Daydream Believer’. It was an incredible moment and the rest of the diners and staff really got in the spirit clapping along and they gave us a huge round of applause at the end. It was a magical moment, not to be forgotten. A fantastic song.
It's amazing how that song still gets around and bonds people. To think it was originally recorded as an album filler and it was chosen for a single as an afterthought. It's gotten more mileage than anyone imagined back then.
His wife, Jessica Pacheco singing backup. We met him later that night, such a very nice and humble man. He waited backstage for a chance to speak to Bobby Rogers and Claudette Robinson of the Miracles, to pay his respects, like any Motown fan would. Pure class. Rest In Peace.
The first Broadway show I ever saw was Oliver and Davy Jones played the artful dodger in that show this was of course before the Monkeys he was wonderful in that part

Always liked this song. First time I heard it was in Vietnam in 1968, on a short break I heard it on Armed Forces radio, before going back into the field, and the war. They say 'time and place' are the two biggest stimulants of long term memory, so this song was etched in my mind, and I associate it with a brief moment in Vietnam. I am sure all of you experienced the same association between a song, and a time and place, or a person.
