Maya! You need insulation in your roof space.😊 All of your roof should be covered in frost. Which would be a good sign, that it is well insulated.😊

In the past, when I did not have heating in my kitchen, I put a red stone flower pot upside down over the gas flame on my cooking flame, and it turned red as it got warm, so I had a kitchen heater from it..

Remember to do your annual maintenance of the tankless water heater. Check with the manufacturer for specific details such as descaling the heat exchanger, cleaning the filter, cabinet, igniter plug, flame sensor, and using compressed air to blow out the burner and gas orfices.

A tip from my carpenter friend. To obtain a proper right angle, smooth cut on timbers or any angle you desire (45) one can orient the circular saw blade on the desired cut line then place your set square alongside the saw base/plate and proceed to cut. The set square keeps the blade aligned at the desired angle

Hi Maya, you guys accomplished so much together, congratulations! My understanding of wood for burning is, that it ideally needs to dry completely for two years in order to get the most efficient burning from it. If you dry it that long, it will for much longer. If you can find some scrap variegated roofing (the wavy metal or plastic stuff) from your property or from a neighbour to cover the wood, and then stack the wood with lots of space for air to pass through, it will dry more thoroughly and you’ll get much better results for your fires. Anyway, there’s lots of information online, I’m sure, so you can check out if I’m right on that 😂 Oh, and my parents had a fan on their wood stove and it was super effective.

Maya you could be heating up your water on top of your wood stove instead of using gas. You would be surprised how quickly it starts to boil! You can cook on top of your stove too. We have an actual wood oven and it has saved us so much money! We use one gas bottle a year..maybe two..no kidding.. but yours has a nice flat surface too you can use too which will work just as great! Good to save some money for more lovely trees for your beautiful project 😊😊xxx

Those wooden boxes looks terrific! Generally though , you don’t have to worry about hose pipes freezing until the temp reaches low twenties and if you are unable to insulate, you can just let the water run at a trickle and it won’t freeze because running water is very hard to freeze. Your friend and helper is terrific, I hope you cooked a hearty meal for him and tucked him in happily . Merry Christmas!!

Hey Maya, so fun to watch your channel and see this place unfold into your very own paradise! Haven't yet watched this one as I'm only slowly catching up with your whole series of videos and excited to get to the present day developments...
I love your little dances and singing to your plants, the inclusion of flower buds and all the other life forms on your property as well as cloud images in your videos - radiating your joy about small achievements and appreciation for the moment...
And it always makes me chuckle when I hear you say "strimming" - today went onto "Leo" to see if they've added this as a new word creation and someone actually commented on their website: "thanks a lot, we would say Kunstwort...
leo shoult add this". In Australia, the string trimmer is called "whipper snipper" which I find a lovely descriptive word.
Re dam building, I saw a comment on one of your videos by a Portuguese woman who cautioned about water rights/ flow regulations re your idea of building a dam in the river - hopefully this is still ok in your area!
Have you watched any of Charles Dowding's videos on No Dig Gardening? It is so fantastic how quickly you can get a full kitchen garden to produce in no time at all that way...
The wild boar might however make it tricky for you to establish a garden that you will end up getting any harvest from for yourself - looking forward to seeing you tackle that challenge with your bright combination of patience, endurance and planned action! 🐗 😊
Keep those inspiring videos coming!!! 🎉

It makes work much easier and fun with someone else to help, doesn't it Maya! The guys have to work hard to show you up!! Valentine has been a really big help. His work ethic is like yours. All of the guys have been helpful. Your river looks so clean. Have you tested all of your water? They must take water pollution very seriously in Portugal. I wish they did in Canada. Because of your vlog, I have read about the history of Mimosa in Portugal. I read that one has to get rid of the roots to get rid of the trees! That sounds impossible, when they are so bad as they are on your lot. Too bad. If anyone can find a way to get rid of them, you can! This was a great post. Can't wait for the next one!! Thank you.

So where I live we use deep valve spigots for outdoor water in sub freezing conditions. This puts the handle at easy reach but the water & valve is a foot or more below ground level. This prevents lines from bursting as water freezes. What you've done here I fear is just insulated the water already between the ground & valve 1m above ground height. That insulation will only keep in the heat or lack of it already in the pipe. How cold it gets in the winter will greatly effect the success or failure of this retrofit. I hope it works for you but honestly I feel the underground spigots will burst with what you have for now.

Will you place an incandescent light in the pump house for heat on the cold times? I noticed one person mentioned spigots being below ground for freeze protection. Here in the Southern United States our freeze line is 6 inches below ground. The spigots mentioned before require a below ground drain and gravel or sand runoff area. Great video, and to have family to help you with all the chores around your property that need doing. I see that you had a rope, that’s good news to tie it onto the front of the wheel guard in the front of your wheel barrow. One pull from the front using the rope, while the other holds the wheel barrow to steer and steady the load, and help push it. The person pulling the rope in front must be at least 3 metres from the wheel barrow, not to catch the back of your feet. Also cutting your logs down to point six to 1 metre lengths will make it a lot easier to use the barrow. Later you could invest in a donkey
