I'm a carpenter's apprentice and I'm working towards getting enough money and to raise my credit score to purchase some land and live the homestead life. Videos like this just push me to work even harder to get there, this is my dream. I want to build multiple cabins on my property for any family members who are interested in helping out or need a temporary place to stay.

@HowDidIGet3700SubsYou keep talking to yourself and getting upset for no reason lol, calm down. The UK is terrible for off grid living.. so move, it's really not that difficult to understand.
@HowDidIGet3700Subs Clearly I got under your skin with the truth lol. Yeah yap yap, maybe you should have made better choices in life then lil bro 😂 I'll enjoy Canada and the USA for you don't worry, enjoy England 💀
Nice work Kyle. 10k, some recycled and you are free. The wife and I did the same. Went from a 4000 sq ft home with a mortgage to a 1000 sq ft home off grid with no payments. Never been happier.
Love it....I love a butter yellow kichen, it does brighten up the space and yes, the ceiling could use some white paint to really open up that kitchen...all in all, you have a nice home. .very cozy..
I'm a plumber I have some ideas for you. When you want a water system. Electric or propane tankless and you can a storage tank with 2 floats in it. Filling float to fill tank and the second float so the tank does run dry. Poly ran to it 3 ft Underground and stubbed up into the cabin with a heat trace and a pump inside for pressure once the main enters the cabin. You can get pumps that only run. When a fixture calls for water
$10,000 wow ! Good Job. ❤ Makeing a suggestion . 😮 Mix 8 ;Parts Thompsons Wood Preservative for wood and Thompsons Cement Preservative for cement and concrete. With 1 part Mineral Spirits - #( 1 pint Mineral Spirits to a gallon of Thompsons ) or, a bit less Mineral Spirits is ok too depending on how much penetration you want. Also add 1 part paint to stain a bit. My hunt shacks and out houses are still there from 1990. ( 22 years ago )😮 Discovered this when I did my break wall with Thompsons cement Preservative. Neighbors painted theirs once a year. They lowered the lake level once a year to repaint the break walls. My was there the 5 years I lived there and was like new the day I left. Just sayin’
Kyle, you and your wife have done a fantastic job over the last couple of years. I dont want to spell her name wrong Ciera. I hope her knee heals quickly.
Under cabinet lighting is a game changer. You can buy super slim small low energy use straps. They even come with a dimmer. Would darken up that corner counter spot. You'd be shocked at what a few under counter lights do. Ceiling lights are behind you when you're working at the counter and when you're standing working at the counter it creates shadows. Also ..nice little late night "cookie and milk" lighting.:)
(This is Tom, not Sandra.) Kyle, you and Ciera have done a great job in making your house a home. Thank you for the tour. It's great that you both, and Skeeter, have your own home away from the crap of a big city. You both should be so proud of your accomplishments in this area, of making a life for yourselves. Winter's almost around the corner again. Take care and be good!! May GOD continue to bless you all in your new life together out in the wild.
First of all, congratulations to your parents in raising you! Ran into your videos today and just wanted to thank you for taking the time in putting them for the whole world to see! You did an exceptional job with your home and I often tell young men that if I had to do it all over again, I would basically do what you've done. Again, congratulations on your home and may God continue to bless you!!!
What makes your craftsmanship even more impressive is having learned by doing this yourself. Shows your talent. Doesn't hurt that you have such an incredible partner. I'm 63, a grandmother and I live in the White Mntns NH. I don't know if I've ever been more impressed by someone your age. Your work ethic and looks to the future are incredible. My grandkids love this channel.
Beautiful. Soooo smart to see you young kids loving a great life withOUT a mortgage!!!! Proud of you and super jealous too....can't get my husband to commit to living simple and FREE
We raised our family off the grid with composting toilets, rain catchment, solar power, wind generation and wood stoves. Spent 13 years doing that lifestyle. I wish we had done a vlog of all we did. It was an amazing yet challenging lifestyle. We moved to a new location and set up another off grid/on grid cabin but have the flushy toilet this time and I don't miss having to dump that toilet every 3 days.😄
Nice job but the only thing that I would do different is I probably would add on to the cabin and inside of that addition, I will also have a regular bathroom and I’ve seen where some people who have a cabin would have a 50 gallon or 100 gallon blue water tank inside the house up high and they would use that to flush the toilet and stuff like that. I would put in a septic tank. I would also build a small shed outside the house for the generator with an electric start button. Lol
So where is this? Just general area is good enough to know...like in US or other country or more specific like which state? That would help to know when watching and comparing costs and other things. YOu don't have strict local laws that dictate what can do on your own property it looks like ...like having to build to code or they take it down! I love what you did here and how you are living and hope more of our local governments will let up on those codes that prevent us from being sovereign on our own land. Well done video , impressive , intelligent, creative , wise and resourceful, what you did and it's beautiful too.
You two have built a great home . You have worked hard Kyle , for your accomplishments. You have a lovely, life partner. Your ambition, and hustle , has paid off. Thanks for sharing. 👍
You guys should be incredibly proud having accomplished so much, that has been done so very well, at such a relatively young age. Curious about a few aspects of self-reliance that others in similar situations have struggled with. With winter around the corner & gardening season coming to an end, do you plan to do any big game hunting for deer, moose or elk to offset some of your food costs? How do you generate a sufficient income to support your lifestyle choice and the inevitable, albeit reduced costs of living off the grid? And how did you acquire the land on which to build these worthwhile & rewarding construction projects? Apologies in advance if you have covered these topics off in previous videos as I am a relative newcomer to your channel.
It has been a real pleasure to watch how you and Sierra have built this lovely home and taken care of your beautiful property. Congratulations! I love watching your videos. Hope Cierra is better now. 🌷🌷
Really enjoyed your video. First one that I have seen of yours. Very thoughtful and intelligent. I am 65, so I don’t think I will Be doing this. I love watching other’s videos. If I was younger and married to someone who would take this on, it would be cool! Yours is one of the best I have watched. I am curious as to what age you think you could put your children in a loft?
I've been watching your videos for quite a while and I have to say that I think you're a very talented young man. Everything is done to your liking and that's the important thing. It works for you! Not everyone could do that. Not everyone could live this way but you do and you're happy. Hats off for you! I find inspiration from you! Not all the youth of today feels entitled! The world needs more people like you! You live by the standards I believe in, K. I. S. S. Keep It Stupid Simple. No need to complicate life. You may not have all the "toys" other people think they need, but you know how to have fun and be creative and comfortable. Good job! Thanks for sharing this information with us! God bless you! Look forward to seeing your videos!
Loved the tour Kyle. The dividing wall has made such a difference to the living space. Its gone from one room rustic to cute cozy home. Like you i dont watch TV apart from one show at 5.30 week nights. I get a lot of my inspiration from watching you tube.. its a wealth of information. If you cant find a “how to” video on something you know it cant be fixed 😂😂😂. Hope you and Cierra keep well, and look forward to you needing those extra bedrooms in the loft😉😉
Love everything but I would want a lid on the hole in the outhouse. I would be terrified that I would lose a pet down that hole and then having to somehow go in after it. Kittens are so curious. You never know.
Congratulations you did a great job on the cabin, not only does it hone your skills but gives you the confidence to tackle other projects as well. Be proud you worked hard and long now take a break , sit back and enjoy.
I also love what you have done so far and it will only get better and better. I like your simplicity which is so inspiring and which allowed you to be financially independent. I can't wait to see the next episodes ...
I love it! I get sooo homesick for northern MN when I watch your videos. It is so cozy. I also spotted that fantastic Red Wing crock. Glad the first frost happened-less mosquitos! Time for some fall fishing!
I just started watching your channel. Can you give us a rough location? You must be somewhere that has no restrictions on building structures. Love to know more about the process you used and how you can find unimproved land to do what you guys are doing. Totally agree that your happiness, inner peace and living your life the way you want is completely worth it. Think I’d need some help though, I’m a young 67 yr old pilot who dreams of building a whole new way of life. Thanks for showing us your homestead!
Before you rebuild the front door, maybe entertain the idea of making an outside storm type door, there may be a lot of strong advantages. And you mentioned you may be building a porch roof, all the better for a full storm door giving you a double door system at the front.
Oh my goodness, that large crock next to the wood stove! My grandmother had one of those in the basement that had a sailor on the front of it (almost like the Cracker Jack salior). I haven't seen one of those since forever.
Hey Kyle, great video of your off grid cabin. I am blown away by all you have, and continue to accomplish there. You and Cierra have certainly built a nice place there. Since you built it yourself from scratch it must be comforting to know you own it and its paid for. You have done well!
They also have a shower for campers for outdoors..or you could use indoors..but it’s a black semi thick bag that you fill with water & hang it outside for the sun to heat & it has a hose/nozzle with on/off lever…works great in summer but winters maybe not unless you inside to heat water…but it wasn’t expensive
Everything look awesome you have done a good job you definitely need to be proud of what you and her have done young people your age they still live with their mom and dad and don't know how to use a hammer thank you
Thanks for the tour Kyle I believe I watched everyone of your videos since finding you a couple of years ago You and your family your dad helping you and doing stuff on your own says a lot for yourself thank you again keep safe
Just a thought... find a rv that you can strip the hot water heater, 12v water pump, and any other 12v systems even the forced hot air system. They are all pretty efficient and run on propane and 12v which you already have.
Just beautiful! I’ve watched all your videos from the beginning and I love seeing the progress and how homey it is now that you’ve lived in it for a while. Awesome job… Best luck and continued success!
I saw ya build it, but I always enjoy the recaps and tours. The center wall turned out great, and dividing the loft into two bedrooms would be a great idea. Love what you're doing ❤️
Nice tour. I have a recommendation for you. The kitchen sink faucet can become functional. It's a game changer. I put in a foot pump hooked up to a small plastic tank and a couple hoses. Super simple and fairly cheap. If you control the water output with your foot you will save water too. I bought the Whale GP4618 Babyfoot Manual Freshwater Galley Pump, Connects to ½-Inch Flexible Hose, 2.2 GPM Max Flow Rate. Works great off grid. I put in a quick disconnect so I can simply purge the water in the winter. It's just better to wash a dish with water control and both hands in the sink. Take care.
We own a deer shack near Little Fork Mn. That is on leased land. Did you have to buy land or what. We pay a small tax and lease annul fee. Like your Work and your attitude keep it going.
Use the blue water jugs with two 12 volt diesel glow plugs just drill holes near the bottom stick these in there epoxy them in and connect them to a solar panel and watch these things boil water and you can put hang these things above the shower and put a shower head on it and you can freaking put hot water right down on your freaking head if you mix it with cold water I would set it up with cold and hot and just turn the knobs
Hey Kyle. Can you make a video about how you guys make money out there? That’s been the hardest part of our off grid journey and I love your straightforward way of discussing things! ❤
I have been watching all of your work Kyle and I’m impressed. You have a great life style away from people which I can relate too. I couldn’t do what you have achieved in my location here in Australia, I like the snow that is a big part of your life style and my wife loves your dog, the cat, chickens and ducks. Keep up the good work. Stuart Brisbane Australia
I’m 34 and I’ve got about $45,000 saved, living in Birmingham Alabama, but this is where and how I wanna invest this money I have. I just don’t know where to start! You give me inspiration that I can make this all happen
Terrific job! Thanks for sharing your build/tour with the public. Have you considered composting to reduce trips to the dump? Have you considered fall/winter gardening by covering one or two of your garden squares with a clear top box-shape lid (hinged so you can lift to harvest at will)? I think you could grow more 'winter vegetables'. Thanks!
Amazing set up, you are so talented in building, designing, and finances! l was wondering how many acres you live on? Are you planning on more livestock in the future?
I’m absolutely impressed, this is the second video of yours I’ve watched, the first one was u releasing your chickens and giving a short dissertation on the fundamentals of off grid living. I’m absolutely impressed w your house, your log work shop, and the overall setup. I’m a 70 year old living in central Vt on 3 acres along a river. I’m in an Rv, 40’ garage model, it’s roomy, I use solar, though I’d like to find someone to dialog w on how to improve my amateur setup. This property does have city water, power and sewer, I use the water, i do have internet only, cell service alone is nonexistent, I supply my own power, the Rv is set up for 12 volts,it functions fine, I’ve sent out accolades in the past to UA-camrs, w nary a response back from anyone. Do you or your significant other ‘work’ away from the property, I’m sure it’s almost a full time job.good luck.
Love your place Kyle, watched the build from the first episode! Definitely a little jealous of the freedom filled lifestyle you guys are already experiencing but i think we are only a year or so behind you! You are way ahead of most at your age, it took me until my 40's to realize what i wanted for my boys and i and more importantly what i didn't want for us. We put our similar cabin build on our off grid 40 acres on hold to invest in a couple on-grid properties we are hoping to make some passive income from soon and then get back to building our off grid future. Keep on living!
about 8 years ago I bought a 10 acre piece here in Pinal Valley in Southern Arizona right on the Picacho Reservoir when I was working as a Traveling Tech for Indian Motorcycles, I worked in this area a couple times and fell in love with it because it's not what people think when they hear "Arizona", yes technically it's "Desert" but it's really not Desert either, it's alot more lush than the High Desert most commonly thought of. My Cabin is 16'x26' (416 Sq Ft.). I got lucky I don't need a bathroom, because Where I live there is a water reservoir that is also a state park that has bathrooms and shower facilities just a mile from my cabin so I jump on my truck and head over there.
I love what ya'll have done. looks great! I would have left that wall out that divides the living and kitchen area and built a low/half wall instead to keep it open but that's just me...Good job though
Love the idea of this, planning laws make it so hard here in the UK though
Pay cash or don't buy it. Credit is slavery.
I don't know anyone who went offgrid with a loan and was successful.
Great idea mate, lil family village sounds awesome
This is something to work towards Thank You For Sharing ♥️💪🏽♥️
Exactly the same here, except I’m looking to become a carpenters or masonry apprentice currently
Probably the best Ryan’s ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans on building a shed is hardly ever found. And Ryan takes the mystery out of different types of foundation options, etc. He even shows how to build a shed with different designs. Very comprehensive, covering different roofing materials, siding, etc.
This cozy little place is really all humans need! People are so materialistic...I'm glad people are returning to simplicity. This is absolutely wonderful!! He's done an amazing job ... especially for not being a carpenter!!!
@____________________________51he says in the beginning it cost less than 10,000 to build. And the land was definitely way less than 1 million
@____________________________51All I hear are excuses. Move down to France then mate.
Hero thanks for being real!!!!!
Yeah yap yap, maybe you should have made better choices in life then lil bro 😂
I'll enjoy Canada and the USA for you don't worry, enjoy England 💀
Nice work Kyle. 10k, some recycled and you are free. The wife and I did the same. Went from a 4000 sq ft home with a mortgage to a 1000 sq ft home off grid with no payments. Never been happier.
After living in America for over 30 years, I've moved to Africa and I'm living my BEST LIFE off grid. No stress, no worries, no fear, no bills. ❤❤❤😊😊😊
Wooow❤
Some white paint on the ceiling in the kitchen will help brighten up the room.
Light colors work well on surfaces too, bounces light ..
Please don't paint the natural logs!
Love it....I love a butter yellow kichen, it does brighten up the space and yes, the ceiling could use some white paint to really open up that kitchen...all in all, you have a nice home. .very cozy..
Just buy a few big mirrors
Yeah
You say you are not a carpenter but you doing great. My dad was a carpenter and I wish he was alive to help me build a cabin like yours.
Having skills to do this is essential. Having help is great.

You guys have a great setup don't let anyone tell you any different. We all wish we could be self-sufficient like you guys.
It is a true blessing. They are living a blessed life.
I'm blessed to wake up everyday with my blood flowing
Under cabinet lighting is a game changer. You can buy super slim small low energy use straps. They even come with a dimmer. Would darken up that corner counter spot. You'd be shocked at what a few under counter lights do. Ceiling lights are behind you when you're working at the counter and when you're standing working at the counter it creates shadows. good idea or even those little push battery lights
(This is Tom, not Sandra.)

What a lovely journey. I grew up that way (81yr now) and anything can be done if the will and strength is there.

Life. Simplified. What a sweet place to call home!
You could. Simply frame a sheet of polycarbonate instead of a solid door. Privacy and loads of light

They are just like Red Lobster, no manners, and no idea of how to treat customers.
Hello from Alberta Canada........ Nice job Kyle. .... Dont know what to say. I have been following you since Day 1.
Do,you have a Habitat Restore near you? That's a great place to get things like doors and windows, among other things.
I am 65, so I don’t think I will
Be doing this. I love watching other’s videos. If I was younger and married to someone who would take this on, it would be cool! Yours is one of the best I have watched. I am curious as to what age you think you could put your children in a loft?
Thanks Kyle! Hope CIERRA Is doing ok. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻Blessings
Congratulations on living life on your own terms brother, my biggest hurdle is finding a woman that will embrace this lifestyle.
Great setup and it's nice to see someone homesteading really treat the animals with kindness which I can tell you do!
I still can’t believe you built this all with your hands??!! Rare jewel you are!
I've been watching your videos for quite a while and I have to say that I think you're a very talented young man. Everything is done to your liking and that's the important thing. It works for you! You've done a lovely job of building a cozy homestead. Staying debt-free is really smart. Keep up the great work.
Congratulations you did a great job on the cabin, not only does it hone your skills but gives you the confidence to tackle other projects as well. Be proud you worked hard and long now take a break , sit back and enjoy.
Few more months and I’ll be attempting this lifestyle, I’ll definitely be using all your videos for building ideas. Thanks for the inspiration!
How is it going
Need an update buddy
So?
You could easily put a large window in your door without having to build a new one. LEDs for the kitchen are efficient and cheap. Nominal power useage
I also love what you have done so far and it will only get better and better. I like your simplicity which is so inspiring and which allowed you to be financially independent. I can't wait to see the next episodes ...

Love your cabin and property. 💖 Thanks for sharing

Love your area! More light in the kitchen for sure. Hopefully a new door with a window makes a big difference.
Thanks for the tour it’s always nice to know the details. Good job. Love the videos
Your home is awesome Kyle, you guys did a great job. Looking forward to the winter video's.
Oh my goodness, that large crock next to the wood stove! My grandmother had one of those in the basement that had a sailor on the front of it (almost like the Cracker Jack salior). I haven't seen one of those since forever.

Nice work man. Must be a great feeling knowing you built your entire life with your own hands and only have to answer to yourselves. Awesome stuff!
I love my MVP blue jug, its been a God send.
Been away for awhile, I'm so impressed with what you two have achieved. Love from Australia x
Roof globe lighting is great. 6 in hold and tons of natural light.
Loved the tour! I have watched both you guys since the beginning and I love how you live. Great video !
Just a thought... find a rv that you can strip the hot water heater, 12v water pump, and any other 12v systems even the forced hot air system. They are all pretty efficient and run on propane and 12v which you already have.
Imagine have this for a monthly cost basis and working a remote job via a Starlink ! Great video Lik'd and Sub' for this great content!
Beautiful Beautiful 😍 may the Lord continue to Bless you 🙏 ❤️ I just love ❤️ cabin it's Fantastic.
Just beautiful! I’ve watched all your videos from the beginning and I love seeing the progress and how homey it is now that you’ve lived in it for a while. Awesome job… Best luck and continued success!
Dig the setup. Practical more importantly useful and handy. I hope you bring your little kitten inside with you at night and in bad weather
Like your
Work and your attitude keep it going.
Very cool. The only thing I missed is do you have a washing machine? Just curious, a washer is a lifesaver to me.
Love it. The whole property is lovely. Especially the fur babies & chickens. Amazing job. 🙏🏼

Thanks!
AMAZING MAN!
Hey, Kyle! Very good, informative video! You & Cierra have built up a really nice homestead. Thanks for sharing it with us! 👍😊
Practical. Humble. Wise. Well done 👏👏👏👏👏
The homestead is looking very good Kyle. Been watching since the start of the remote log cabin build.
Great...yes I could live in what you made...thank you for showing how you put this all together...GOD'S JOY my friend....🦉..
A very nice homestead. You have everything needed. Plus debt free!!
Nice tour. I'm guessing you don't have problems with your garbage? Bear, and other critters?
I think for some of us, getting the land is a bigger issue. How did you get the property to begin with without a mortgage?
Not sure about him but I bought mine at a tax auction. One acre for 2k.
You should look into a Simple Pump (brand name) hand pump to pressure tank and sell your generator. Enjoy your good life!
I love what ya'll have done. looks great! I would have left that wall out that divides the living and kitchen area and built a low/half wall instead to keep it open but that's just me...Good job though
Same here, I liked the open space more
Beautiful house 🏠 Kyle and Ciera
Also, internet? How are you getting internet?
