Automatic is perfect, as is Dare Me (my fave!) And for their 70s output, I live for Happiness.
This was a huge hit for the Sisters in the late ‘70s. That was my junior high years, and the Sisters had a lot of hit singles at the time. They continued to put out chart hits up through the mid-‘80s. We need to explore their music further. And yes, their vocals are amazing! Great song and pick for sure!

Some great songs by the Pointer Sisters include slower grooves like "Slow Hand" and "He's So Shy" and faster bops like "Jump (For My Love)" and "Automatic." Believe it or not, the sisters won a Grammy for best vocal performance by a duo or group for their 1974 country song "Fairytale."
My introduction to the Pointer Sisters was "Pinball Number Count" from Sesame Street. 1 2 3 4 5...6 7 8 9 10...11 12!
i remember first hearing this on the radio, couldn't believe how awesome it was. love the pointer sisters, they had real soul (and they were from Oakland, close to where I grew up). Love them.
The best girl group ever. Wait til you hear their 70's jazz, blues and R & B which is how they began! An amazing family! They do sing pure rock and a fusion of rock and R and B too.

They didn't start out as a country group they always sang different styles of music, jazz,rnb,Rock ,dance ,funk and country.
i've always loved the sparse production of this song

The Pointer Sisters were a big part of my music life growing up as Mum and Dad were big fans and played their music all the time at home! They were amazing. My favourite tracks from them along with this one are "I'm So excited, Dare Me, Jump, He's so Shy and Automatic" Well worth reacting to!
I LOVE this song. It's on an amazing album they put out in the late-70s called Energy. It's somewhat of a concept album of all Rock covers from artists like Dobbie Brothers, Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac, and this gem from Bruce Springsteen which they turn into this sultry groove! The entire album doesn't have a SKIPPABLE track on the whole thing. I had this along with most of Energy's tracks on my future request list for you. I started with the Bonnie Pointer single last month but I'm glad someone has continued the Pointer Sisters introduction!

This song zoomed to #2 on the charts when I was in fifth grade and starting to explore pop music on my own, so I remember hearing it on the radio quite a lot back then. What lyrics! "Romeo and Juliet, Samson and Delilah" -- hard for a kid not to pick up on that without knowing what that really meant! It was years later that I came to know that Springsteen wrote the song after hearing Robin Williams sing it in an Elmer Fudd voice -- "Elmer Fudd sings Bruce Springsteen" -- on his 1983 comedy album Throbbing Python of Love.
