That color is called Rose Mist Metallic and was offered for 96 only! This was the best trim level under the SHO you could get also that year as it was the volume leader- which was what most people got cause it was best trim with options for the money. My Dad bought a silver 96 Taurus same trim level as this one off a 2yr lease in summer of 98. I was 12 then and at that time really remember most family liking my Dads new car! His was silver with marbled grey cloth interior loaded with everything except a spoiler and moonroof. It held up well for us for many years and became my first car . My Dad then bought a fully loaded silver top of the line 2001 Mercury Sable LS Premium and that one had leather, moonroof, Duratec 24V DOHC engine, chrome wheels, floor shift and mach audio system. That car he lastly traded in for the car that is now my second car and was bought brand new- 2010 Ford Fusion Sport. Which is a SHO Jr basically! Also silver but with a racing blue/ black leather interior, sony sound system, moonroof, 3.5 DOHC 24V Cyclone engine also found in Mustangs of that era and all options. Mines still in perfect condition and sees no winters ever! The Fusion replaced this sized Taurus actually for those that didnt know!
I have a dark blue 1997 SE with these same rims that belonged to my grandpa he used to drive before he got alzheimers. That's when my grandmother started driving it. It replaced a late 1980s Mercury Topaz. When's the last time you saw one of those?
