Men who were manly, music that was real and could pull emotion out of you, playing instruments and no auto tune. What’s not to love?!?!? It doesn’t hurt that he’s a hottie in the vids!! Miss the 90’s,best time to be a teenager. I now watch my 3 teens navigate their way through a much harsher and cruel time, where what’s on the inside doesn’t count like it should. At least I managed to get 1 of them into my music!!!!
P.s. Not hating on lgbtq+ at all, each to their own. It’s just good to see guys who don’t wear makeup and embody masculinity 🖤

Edit: I have been well aware he's still alive. I should have researched before I commented.
I'm sitting here before 5 am thinking about how we lost him and his might have been the last of his kind as an accident. The masters we've lost since were intentional. And that's devastating.

This song is EPIC, and to me it epitomizes the pain and disillusionment of modern life. Many songs from the 90s did such a great job of putting the mirror to society and showing the dark undercurrents that exist in our world: "Under The Bridge", "Jeremy", "Man In The Box", "Creep", "Sober", "All Apologies", "Runaway Train", "Everybody Hurts", "Fell On Black Days", the list goes on.

As a guitarist of 20 years, I know that hearing someone play an acoustic is the best way to tell if they're a good player or not. On an electric, you can get away with some stuff that you can't on an acoustic. These guys were really fucking great. The whole album is awesome. I've listened to it many times over the years.

Your spot on. These guys never got as much credit as they deserved . Amazing players. I learned on my dad's old 12 string at about 7. By the time I was 19-20 people couldn't believe how fast I was on a smooth thin electric. Your hands get so much tougher on acoustic. To play like then song after song they are amazing.

Man, this album was so unique, it's hard to this day to put it into a defined genre. Hard ass lyrics, gorgeous down-tuned sound-layering, and the vocals... wow!
I picked this album up, back when it came out, and the next 2 albums as they dropped.
Years later, I'm at a party, and this dude picks up an acoustic and starts playing a perfect rendition of their work... I was in awe...jaw on the floor.
We turned off the Mudvayne playlist we had running in the next room and let his sound ring out throughout the house... it was incredible, and while his playing was excellent in all respects... This album made that night happen the way it did. To this day, this band is seared into my memory. Today, I came home with the song "Weapon and the Wound" in mind... started whistling it as I walked through the door from work and minutes later was singing it out loud.
Now, me, I'm culturally as much of a metalhead as one can get, but this album is metal AF.

I grew up around these guys in Indiana. There music captured that time at home and what growing up in Indiana felt like then in the 90's . Everytime I hear them on the radio or some show, not matter where I'm at or what I'm going I'm that 16year old pot head, rainbow gathering going hippie skater kid again.

    The key is so distant
    I've opened doors
    Know when to listen
Know what to listen for (yeah)
    The shelf in the room
Has been the way of holding me
    And letting me stay
    Kick me out
    Let me go
I don't belong here no more
A releasing sense of getting tired
    Hold myself
    I can't hold myself
    The shelf in the room
    Has been so true
    I can hide in
    The shelf in the room
    Holding out
    Never hold in
    Holding out
    Never hold
    Know when to listen
    Know what to listen for
    Believe in resistance
Don't let them tell you anymore
    Is there anyway/no
    To get away/no
    Ask myself
    While I stay inside
    The key is so distant
    I've closed my doors
    The shelf in the room
    Is rain waiting to pour
