  • Open Therapy Institute (OTI) Founder and President Andrew Hartz, Ph.D. and Leslie Elliott Boyce discuss bias in mental health care and how it relates to the politicization of society and other socio-political issues. The series explores topics including censorship culture, anti-white aggression, the costs of social justice ideology, bias against men, and the psychology of "splitting" and other maladaptive schemas. The series aims to highlight overlooked issues in mental health care and offer suggestions for how the field can become more open to people with diverse viewpoints.
This video focuses on the phenomenon of empathy getting distorted and becoming "monstrous" when it is applied to some groups and not others. Discussion points include the possible differences between men and women in perpetuating "monstrous" empathy, plus the irony of having empathy for criminals but not their victims. Videos in this series will also be posted to Leslie Elliott Boyce's channel, ‪@theradicalcenter‬.

You both are confusing "understanding" with "empathy", and are having a really weird conversation about it. Understanding both sides is important in any conflict. Misreading understanding as "empathy for the monsters," is a really weird, and quite unprofessional take.
