Amazing talk. I am a Macrobiotic coach, natural vegan chef and now an Oxygen Advantadge breath coach. I had many auto immune diseases and my health was slowly deteriorating. I learned to nurture my gut microbiome and this changed my life. Before learning the gut microbiome I was on medication for Crohn’s disease for more than 20 years with no sign of getting better. I now eat a plant based diet with plenty of home made probiotic foods. You need to make it a habit and then it comes natural to you. Feeling great is the best thing and with effort and determination you can feel the same. After becoming a breath coach I’ve even been able to improve my thyroid. My thyroid medication is going lower and lower. I don’t have an answer to that one but the proof is in my test results. Eating home made plant based organic foods and regular breath work changed my life. Thank you Mike for your amazing work you where my first breath coach ! I have much to thank you for. And also thank you James great talk. 😊
Just found this fantastic podcast after seeing Dr James at a Science Festival talk. I didn't get to ask my question at the talk, but he answers it here which was, "How can we know a drug will work on everyone if our microbiomes are so different?" Dr James' humble answer is that we don't. Incdentally, I have been practising no mow May to improve our garden's biome and been so delighted by the appearance of wild violets that I totally get what he means about doing our best to keep our biome happy albeit at a microscopic level as it may reap rewards we were not expecting.
Very insightful conversation, especially about the anthropogenic and how our gut microbiome starts to differ depending on a change of environment, e.g a holiday to a foreign country. Thank you, Dr. Kinross.
I teach Holographic Breathing (not holotropic breathing) and use that in dry fasts to work with the brain, gut, and organs. One of the things I use this for is to kill off harmful pathogens. It also resets the microbiome and immune system.
@@TAKEADEEPBREATH I am on a Dry fast at the moment for about 7 days but in about two weeks I will be free. why don't we get together on Zoom sometime after that and I will teach you. It would take about twenty minutes. I am the founder of this Breathwork modality.
Do differently 🤔 stop heating my food in plastic, he was emphatic about that. I'm not sure what a usable, practical alternative is though. Will give it some thought. I cook my own food, mostly plant based whole foods, one recipe, decant into containers and take to work to re heat for lunch. I will try to find an alternative. I quit smoking a long time ago but I still consume nicotine in the form of sprays and lozenges. I'm thinking that must be affecting both my mouth and gut. I think that has to be a focus too. Huge thanks to you both for an absolutely fascinating and engaging conversation. I could have easily listened for another hour!

Hi Mike, it's been 3 days so i realize i may not get a reply. Thank you anyway for this video. I live in London & was wondering if your guest takes referrals on the nhs. I follow your channel as i care for my elderly mother & the stress unfortunately has been hard to manage. My health has taken a nose dive concerning my bowel. I think stress has caused this. I use diet & breathing to try & manage things. I am due to take do a colon sample... blood & mucus in bowels. The thought of seeing some surgeon who has little appreciation of microbiome & a more holistic way of viewing things, fills me with dread. I am going to mention him to my doctor. I had bowel endometriosis years ago & i can never quite overcome constipation! He seems like the perfect doctor for me. I will also buy his book. Thank you for what you do. Since i became a carer last year, your channel has helped me cope😊
That might be possible… but unfortunately the virus itself is also likely to have a lot of long-term negative health effects on the population. It’s all about trade-offs and hard choices based on the limited information science is able to provide at the time.
I agree it's about choices, but if there's no studies or the long term effects are not known then it should be up to the individual to choose, not forced on a population buy a government who can't be held liable @@Ana-vz3uj
There should be guilt when a woman doesnt breastfeed. Of course it hurts. You think it doesnt hurt cats with 6 kittens on them? Mothers not breast feeding is pure selfish and laziness created by a western culture. The baby will be more prone to suffer all sorts of issues from dental to cancer because mom didnt want to be uncomfortable and we have tip toe around that so they dont face that. Give me a break lol

I put all my food in a ceramic bowl now with a ceramic plate on top before it goes in the microwave, it’s a hassle for sure but feels better
Ps thanks for sharing your thoughts, really helps this podcast get to more people and it’s lovely to get an insight and see you some value
@@TAKEADEEPBREATH ceramic! Yes good idea! I didn't want to go to glass really for the safety aspect so I will try ceramic. Thank you! 💕

So why am I supposed to take a course of antibiotics every month for diverticulitis? Very interesting discussion thank you
Apparently it kills our biome and can actually make us more sick, google antibiotics and biome for more details
