We had three channels on tv no computers and no damn cell phones. However, we had the best music and the most fun of any generation ever !!!

Still holding off on the cell phone thing. Never had one. don't want one. But, now they're making it so you NEED stupid apps to even park! But, so true....best music, most fun generation. We were very lucky to be a part of that!👍

Hey man thanks for reacting to this! You're awesome brother!
Peter Rivera, the lead singer/drummer is my father and I'm going to send this to him. He'll love it!
You would be amazed how many times he got the reaction of "what? Those guys were white?!?" when they heard them perform.
You want to hear a fun one... Check out Kanye's song "Fade" from his Life of Pablo album. The whole track is my dad's voice singing "I feel it fade..." They sampled his voice only from his Rare Earth track "(I know I'm) Losin You".
Love how music can bring people together!

I wish I had been at California Jam - headlined by Emerson, Lake and Palmer whom I LOVE! Also Deep Purple! Alas, I was 13 yo and living on the other side of the country at the time. Thanks!
    Peace from SF

THANK YOU! This song and your reaction to it got my ass out of bed this morning and dancing first thing. I didn’t think that was possible after the sadness funk that I’ve been in the last two or three days. Seriously, thank you so much for sharing yourself with the world and doing these videos. You rock!! :)

My brother was at the California Jam. He saw Rare Earth at this show. I saw them at an earlier concert at Anaheim Stadium with WAR and Badfinger. I LOVE Rare Earth all day long since the early 1970s!!!!

Yep, I was there! And yes, there was plenty of puff puff pass among other things, hehe! This opened the concert and I had just turned 18, what days those were! Thank you Jamel! By the way Emerson Lake and Palmer were there too, they closed the show. Check out "From The Beginning" by them, or "Still You Turn Me On", or "Lucky Man" lots of great stuff

So, so, SO many great performances from the California Jam, both the first one in 1974, and Cal Jam 2 in 1978. Dig Heart's set from the 1978 festival. Ooo-WEE. Hot, on multiple levels.

The whole California Jam has some GREAT performances by tremendous bands. Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, the unfairly forgotten Black Oak Arkansas, Emerson Lake & Palmer, many others.
